Visited whilst on family holiday. We had an amazing experience! The staff are incredible, the train drivers answered all the questions we had and they was very patient and explained in a way the children would understand. We got to look at the engine on the steam train and was treated like royalty all day. The station masters where fun and extremely friendly and always made us smile through out the day. Honestly worth a visit !

Needs a lick of paint, but this was an amazing day out. My train obsessed 3 yo was on cloud 9. The entrance of the train onto the platform through a wall of steam was very dramatic. We loved it. Food and hot drinks were available onboard, and at the Tunbridge Wells station there's a shop with toy trains and toilets for while you're waiting.

Went and did the polar express experience. Absolutely amazing. Friendly staff, beautiful carriages, fantastic train ride. I wasn't expecting it to be that good and after going on it, I can confirm it was amazing. Such a magical feeling to everything. The train, the characters, the journey. It was all perfect. Definitely a 5/5 but if I could give it more I would. If you're debating whether to do it or not I recommend you do, its worth well worth the money.

The Polar Express was a very magical experience. So nice of the real Father Christmas to take time out of his very busy schedule to come on-board and say hi too. Would highly recommend. A lot of attention to detail including Polar Express branded hot chocolate cups, cookies and lanterns. Staff were brilliant and a lot of fun.

We took our 3 year old nephew and he loved it. We rode on the diesel and steam trains and in the brake van with the diesel shunter. There was a model rail exhibition that weekend and he loved that too. Staff were great, we had a picnic on the platform at Groombridge while we waited for our return train. Definitely recommend.

We had tickets for rail ale on the Saturday evening before Father's Day, it was excellent! The train left a little late and was busy, there was a good atmosphere. We had seats in the carriage where the barrels were so people were in a queue going past us, but it seemed to move quickly, and wasn't a problem. I chose a blood orange cider I'd never had before to try and didn't drink anything else, stuck with that, it was delicious! We left after the first trip to join the rest of our party who weren't on the train, but it was going to go there and back again (possibly twice) and we were welcome to stay on if we had wanted to. We really enjoyed our evening, what's not to like?! Beer and cider and being on an old train, brilliant!

If you want something to do on a weekend and have a cup of tea or a pint then take this train to Eridge and back with your dog. Our dog Casper loves trains and wasn't disappointed here. Nice stocked bar, tea and cakes at the stations, good clean facilities and educational for the kids.

Have visited spa valley railway twice. Once for their Gin tasting experience and then more recently for their Polar Express Christmas trip. Both occasions the staff were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The Polar express experience 2022 was wonderful, the recently fallen snow really added to the experience and the acting, singing and engagement from the staff on the train was magical and its a must do if you enjoy the film.

We had a brilliant time going to the end of the line and back, we took our own lunch so we could eat and enjoy the views. It's really great value for money and the staff were lovely 😊

Beer Festival weekend. Busier than previous years in the Engine Shed. The steam trains are always awesome and worth the trip. Hats off to the teams that look after these. Not sure if the tannoy for last call for boarding is new, but nearly dropped my beer as standing under it.

Great heritage steam railway. A short route, around 20 minutes end to end, but plenty of fine scenery to enjoy. The rover ticket is well worth doing to enjoy exploring High Rocks, Groombridge and Eridge stations. Great variety of rolling stock and the staff are friendly. An excellent beer festival is held at the railway every October.

My husband did a diesel driver experience, which he thoroughly enjoyed. All members of staff were very polite and friendly, especially the gentleman in the shop (thank you for your help). Would definitely return and recommend the driver experience to others. I would have loved the addition of a bacon roll :-)

Great heritage railway. It is very well run and staff/volunteers were very friendly and enthusiastic. Fun experience. We went to Eridge and back only but you could also make it a great day out by putting some exploring between the out and return trips.

Great fun. We were there for a beer festival. Beer and steam trains what could be finer? Throw in some live music and fresh cooked food, not to mention a cheese stall. We'll be back.

Tunbridge Wells West offers a delightful experience for families with kids. The main draw here is the enchanting train ride that takes you on a scenic journey through the picturesque countryside. It's a perfect outing for young train enthusiasts, and even adults can appreciate the tranquil beauty of the landscapes passing by. One of the standout aspects of this experience is the relatively low crowd levels. This means you and your family can truly enjoy the ride without feeling cramped or rushed. The staff deserves kudos for their friendly and attentive service. Their passion for trains is evident, and they are more than willing to share interesting tidbits and historical facts about the locomotives and the route. For children, this is a memorable adventure. The combination of a vintage train and the idyllic countryside provides an educational and fun experience. They can get up close with the steam engine, which is often a thrilling sight for little ones. In summary, Tunbridge Wells West is a hidden gem for families seeking a unique day out. The scenic train ride, accommodating staff, and lack of overcrowding make it a must-visit for anyone looking to create cherished memories with their kids while exploring the charm of rural England.

This is a lovely day out, loved seeing the steam engines, we stopped at the two places available to go to and had two lovely walks in the countryside, both about 1 mile from the station, we then relaxed in local pubs before catching the Steam train back home.

The train runs 3 days a week on weekends. It cost 10£ for return ticket. We could see the old train station that use to run in old British time.

Really well run. Very nice scenery along the way. The coaches and locomotives were well preserved. Workshop interesting too.

This was a gift for my wife's 40 things to do before she's 40, I just went along for the ride and I have to say I thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed the whole experience. The people who were working there (volunteers and paye alike) had a real enthusiasm for the trains, throughout the journey to the destination there was a few stops and we decided to get off at each and catch the next one travelling in the direction we wanted to go. There wasn't a massive amount to do at each stop unless you liked a nice stroll. Overall a nice day out enjoyed by us both.

Been a few times now. Most recently did a whole day experience preparing, firing & driving a steam engine. Incredible day & well worth the time & money. Tickets to travel on the line as passenger are also incredible reasonably priced. Just be aware, you can’t park in the supermarket car park, & will need to use a nearby pay car park.

Visited this railway for the first time at the weekend for their Scottish steam gala. I have to admit very impressed. Station at Groombridge is fabulous. Ideal for a family day out or if you are a steam enthusiast. The engine shed is very interesting to walk round at Tunbridge Wells west

Came here for polar express Christmas 2022 in Kate November. We did the 4pm train as was almost dark by then. Was a bit chaotic at the start but overall was a really good experience and the kids loved the journey and seeing santa. Most families wear pajamas.. Great fun, very interactive and lots of singing.. Good food options too. Get here early as parking isn't easy.

Visited on 26/08/2022 on the first day of the Spa Valley Railway's 25th Anniversary Gala event. I have to say it was worth absolutely every penny of the admission price: having these two enormous Southern Region locomotives visit the line during this special event provided that small extra uplift to the day to make it a truly five-star visit. Very glad that I visited. Bring on their beer festival!
