Moving to TW i thought I’ve found good coffee shop but had to stop visiting this place because of unfriendly staff and stale cakes. Ok , coffee was good 👌

I'm not sure why, but when we turned up we were, in our opinion, not welcome. Not sure if it was the children, the headscarf or we just got them on a bad day, but it was slightly uncomfortable. We're very unlikely to return but the coffee is actually pretty good.

Black Dog serve the best coffee in Tunbridge Wells by a country mile, Jordan is a superstar Barista! his coffee is mind blowing good and crafted at the very highest level. The food is always exceptional - great quality locally sourced produce and wizard level chefs! This review was long overdue as I’ve been a loyal customer for many years now…. Well done Matt & team at Black Dog - keep up the good work of setting standards for others to follow!!👌👏🥇

LOVE the black dog. Food is absolutely exceptional and priced incredibly well. The Mexican scramble is to die for and the burritos are a work of art. It's over 2 hours round trip but completely worth it. Staff are very friendly too.

Food was OK, bread was good as we're the scrambled egg's. My smoked salmon wasn't the freshest and was a pretty slim portion. If fact before my plate had hit the table, I asked for an additional portion and this portion was nicer. My sons breakfast burger was nice and my wife's breakfast stack was good. As this was my shout, when I went to pay, they didn't take cash. So my wife footed the bill 😄 not good when you offer to pay for breakfast. I gave 3 stars because of the above and we all left still a bit hungry. The higher you stack the food, doesn't make it any more filling and also a smile doesn't cost anything 😊. I would try it again, everything and everybody has an off day.

Had the most wonderful Bombay Poke Bowl for lunch, sitting upstairs. The service was excellent and friendly, and the food colourful, exciting and so tasty. Will go back!

Great café in Royal Turnbrige Wells, short walk away from the town centre. We went on Sunday morning for brunch. The place is cosy and welcoming. The staff are professionally and friendly. The black coffees were rich and aromatic, the banana toast was tasty but not too sweet, and the taste of the mushrooms with sour dough toast was very well balanced.

Lovely little cafe, food was delicious and good gluten free, peanut free and shellfish free options. Staff were lovely and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. This is a card only cafe.

Very impolite staff, asked if they were selling any other type of bean blend and was faced with incredible sarcasm and rudeness from staff. In hindsight should have not continued with the purchase. There are plenty of other nice places to grab coffee on Camden road.

Good food. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Fun to here the banter coming from the kitchen.

Recommended by a friend. Have visited twice while in town. Grain bowl was divine. Possibly the best meal I’ve eaten while visiting UK. Latte is also very tasty. Service is very enjoyable and friendly. Love the atmosphere inside.

A very nice vegan lunch today in the Black Dog, with more spaced tables the pleasant atmosphere cultured by Mat the Australian is further enhanced. He says a cafe could not start up with only 70% of the covers. The Black Dog now have a very nice cool upstairs cafe space, the side window is wide open does not bring heat or road noise into this new space. I have updated my review but still top marks

Travelling from Australia it was wonderful to find a little taste of “home”. Great coffee, food and staff. Will be back.

The place had a lovely feel and really nice wait staff, but we waited over 40 minutes for Eggs Benedict which looked small and lost on the plate and the hollandaise was tasteless. We think they may have forgotten our order and then rushed it. It was a bit odd. I'd give it one more chance, because I'm generally a really lovely person but it better be a little better next time.

Friendly staff, quiet and comfortable enough to get some work/studying done, truly excellent hot drinks - I stayed long enough to try both the matcha latte (made with soy milk) and green apple & hibiscus tea.

Honestly was on the way to the beach found this place and figured I’d stop for a bite. Yet another great decision by yours truly. Delicious breakfast, quick service and a very peaceful environment. Highly recommend this place

This was sooooo good! Was craving some good coffee and a nice breaky and this cafe did not disappoint! Found the staff friendly and efficient. So much on the menu that I need to come back for!

What's in a name? The Black Dog doesn't allow dogs, not that we assumed it automatically would. But when asked if dogs were allowed the guy rudely shook his head, couldn't eveno be bothered to reply. Luckily across the road was a very friendly dog cafe where not only were dogs welcomed they were given water and a treat.

Any time I am in the UK, I head straight here. Easily the best coffee I have had in England, with brilliant food to match. Staff also extremely welcoming and friendly, definitely recommend.

Lovely strong Monmouth coffee! It is the kind of coffee which comes with flavour and ompf. Lovely staff and some yummy dishes. The only thing is our pitch black dog wasn’t allowed in the cafe; a bit misleading considering the name. The good thing about rules is you can change them; especially if you find yourself in a country where people love their hounds and can take it quite personal when they are being rejected. We will return because we found it to be the best coffee in town. In the meantime we can sit outside with our dog and watch the world go by… (on a rainy day it will be 4* ;)

Amazing. Great and simple menu. Wonderful breakfast without being too much. One of the best coffees I've had for a while. Good service in the morning and levely pleasant setting. One to remember when it Tunbridge Wells, henc the review.
