Good meal. The challenges were great and the quality of the food was good. Seemed a bit understaffed but the staff that were there were good and very friendly. Particularly liked the 24oz steak challenge! Unfortunately they ran out of tshirts though so we didn't get a t-shirt for finishing the challenge. Get more staff so the service is faster and you'd be 5/5!

So disappointed about this place. Really understaffed and so much waiting time. Order a portion of chips today at 5.25pm its now 5.51pm and just had them. I just put a picture of what I've been waiting for. A tiny portion! Won't come here anymore and won't recommend to anyone.

Usually we have good experience but since changing the chief completely ruined are experience really disappointed. I will add a picture of the trip with the old chief and one with the new chief.. #BRING BACK THE OLD CHIEF the new one serves a greecy desert how?? Rubbery chicken you needed teeth like jaws to munch on it.... disappointed...

Food was great but service was poor. Had a main and pudding. Hunters chicken was amazing definitely worth having. Probably better to go for the XL as you get a bit extra. Pudding was pretty good. Very rich though. Not sure if there was staffing issues or we were just forgotten about, I assume the former. Mains took around 45 minutes to get to the table, the puddings an extra hour and only after I asked where it was. Wasn't even packed only around half the tables were occupied. Good prices, and lots of parking, would easily be improved with better service.

We went for an evening meal there last night. I booked a table for 6 @ 18:00. No table had been reserved. We were offered a window table which was freezing. (They had a small fan heater pointed at another table but not ours) there was one waiter serving food and drinks and generally running the place. He was very nice but they were very understaffed. The food was just plain horrible, in fact we all got up and went to McDonald’s after for a proper dinner. The food now comes on skillets which are obviously very hot, so by the time I’d got my rare steak served it was very well done due to its continued cooking in the skillet. We had to wait for my boys burgers as there was a “mistake “ with the burgers, we had finished/given up on our meals by the time they came. My other son had ordered ribs but they had forgotten them somewhere so when I asked about them they came out cold! The burgers were underdone the peas were grey/green boiled to death and the chips limp. We didn’t stay for desert.

The desert was lovely. The steak was tough. The chicken was wet and squishy. The scampi was nice. It looked nice in the skillet thing they serve it in but it's not great when eating from it. I would have much preferred it on a plate. Had to wait 50 minutes for food.

This venue has had a change of owner and revamp inside. The food portions are good and tasty but unfortunately there service is slow and the tables sticky. I was not given any cutlery or napkins and the previous table occupants dirty flatware was left on the table. On the plus side the food was delivered fast and was tasty. This venue is fine for a good drink and s quick pub meal but don't expect the Ritz.

Service was excellent and patient even when dealing with eight of us. Food was brought out in around 25 minutes and was prepared to a great standard. I had the Flame-grilled gammon skillet, it was tender and easy to cut but had quite a lot of fat on. Overall, I had a lovely experience at this establishment, only downside is that they're understaffed; We had to sit at a dirty table for 5 minutes until they had time to clean it.

I took my kids here for dinner and the drinks were reasonably priced whilst the food was served in very large portions. In fact the only slight issue was with the lady who took our order. She was obviously new and got the order wrong twice and perhaps could have been better supervised during her training.

After deciding to go out one evening for dinner. We thought we would try out the hop house. Can I point out that will be the last time as well.! We went to the bar ordered drinks and asked for a table for 2. Which there was 1 available. We then got told that there was a delay on food of around 30-45 minutes. We was happy to wait. The barman said it was due to a large crowd of people just came out of the cinema. It didn't look overly packed.! We ordered only a main meal. When the food finally comes out. Just by looking at it, I thought it looked a bit dry.. All the meats were tough as house's. Chicken was horrible. Gammon was black. Even the fried tomatoes was shrivelled up. That was enough for me. A waitress came over and asked if everything was okay. To which my partner didn't have to say a lot. Only no it is to dry and horrible. The waitress said Sorry did we want to order anything else. Our reply was Sorry no we have decided to go. The lovely waitress offered us a full refund and apologies for it. *WE WASN'T TO ONLY PEOPLE THAT COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FOOD* think they need to look at the food before handing it out to customers. We won't be eating in there again.. Hop house / fayre & square need to take a long look at how their kitchen / chiefs.. As That food was HORRIBLE AND DRY.!

👍👍 This Weatherspoons is quite a bit different from the average 'spoons. Set in an old opera house, they have managed to keep so much of the original interior design and decor in place, making it incredibly eye catching. Be sure to visit the upper floors if they are open. The staff are friendly, and t...
