Fish and chips takeaway

😠 Maybe a bad night but first time in there. Guy was overworked it seemed. Virtually non-communicative the whole time. Struggled with till. Said 10 mins and was 40 mins. Other customers waiting a similar amount of time and one walked out after waiting to get served. Fish and chips not great. Fish quit... People often mention chips,

Had never been here, and now regret going. The batter was dripping in grease for a piece of cod allegedly freshly cooked. More like heated in warm fat. Plus the added bonus of deep fried hair. Can safely say won’t be going back there ever again.

Great food and friendly staff! I can’t rate the crew in this shop highly enough! Always pleasant and humorous in equal amounts. And ultimately the food is fantastic, relatively large sized portions and for a very reasonable price too. I choose to go here now over my other favourite chippy that I have been using for years and years because it’s a pleasurable experience every time. And they’re great with the kids too! Thanks for keeping us full and for making us smile. Keep up the good work guys!

The best haddock and chips I have ever bought from a chip shop. Liked the fact that there was not too much batter on the haddock and contrary to some negative comments, neither the fish or the chips were greasy. The portions are huge and one medium haddock supper can easily feed two persons. Well done.

Serves me right for being unfaithful to St John’s fishbar.

I tried some chips only, which were amazing - freshly cooked, great tasting and a generous serving. The guys are also very friendly. When I was there, other customers were complimenting them on their other stuff too and went there because they were recommended. I recommend you try this place too and then leave them a review to let them know how good they are!

Great customer service & friendly staff. Chips are delicious - typical chip shop flavour. The place is very cosy, stylish & always looks clean. Would love to see vegan fish options available in the near future!!!!

First went here shortly after opening to try them out and was very impressed from the get go. I've gone back almost weekly ever since and it's now become my staple chippy. I most often have the battered sausage and chips, which is both reasonably priced and deliciously tasty. Super friendly owner and clean premises too. Definitely would recommend.

Popped in for a small box of chips for lunch. The place looks really nice with it's decor and lighting. The staff were very friendly and joked about getting the best chips at no extra cost. The chips were ever so slightly underdone but was perfectly fine to eat. Reasonable prices too. Also pleased it was open after 2pm as I often take a late lunch break and all the other chips shops are closed.

Having bought these chips a number of times since its been open, can honestly say some of the nicest chips I've eaten, homemade, fresh and very tasty and the onion rings are just as good. Friendly staff warm & welcoming, and has the best packaging and interior of any chippie in t.wells. I highly recommend for a tasty chip experience.

Had to wait a long time (20 minutes) for our order. We were given an explanation after asking if it was going to be too much longer. Sadly we weren't able to try the chips as their fryer had broken. They kindly substituted the chips for a small portion of fish and refunded us the £2.50 for the chips which was nice of them to do. Our battered sausages were quite greasy, my husband (who is a qualified chef) says that this was down to the batter being too thin and the oil not being hot enough when they were fried. But they're a new business so we will probably try them again in a few weeks to see if their teething problems have been resolved.
