The Crowborough Cross - JD Wetherspoon

Restaurant Bar Breakfast restaurant Pub

😠 Awful, cold food, screeching girls spoiling it for everyone else, and the toilets were definitely being used for "other purposes" on a Fri night. I know its a wetherspoons and should expect lower standards, but not this low. No one even clearing glasses leaving you sitting in filth. Better pubs in... People often mention great, staff, service, good, lovely, Staff, friendly, nice,

Well. Where to start. Maybe with me being an idiot and walking to this pub up what felt like the side of a mountain! So be forewarned. Apart from all the heart attacks suffered getting here, it really is a wonderful big spoons. The staff were polite and very friendly - the young lad who served me first seemed actually concerned about my well-being after my arduous trek, but may have had a chuckle when I told him what I'd done. He did serve me a lovely Guinness once he explained the concept of buses and taxis. Anyway, inside wad the usual deal over three levels, with a fireplace and an almost hidden row of booths on the main floor. There is also a substantial outdoor area with heaps of seating.

12/08/23 went in with my wife and our dog to get a coffee (largely to escape a shower). After I had paid, the barman put two empty coffee mugs on the bar and left me to it. After a while I asked him when the contents might be arriving. I was told that there were a couple of coffee machines I could use. Nice to be told (eventually) The first machine was faulty but the second worked fine. The as I sat down a member of staff approached us and informed us that no dogs were allowed in the building so we left, leaving our hard won coffee behind. In future I’ll just stay out in the rain

Waitress staff beyond helpful and friendly and the food is great for the prices you pay, we have eaten in here many, many times and are regulars, however today’s experience will change this. The Duty Manager Stacey is unprofessional and rude, she doesn't know how to speak to customers in a polite or professional manner. Safe to say I have never experienced such foul aggressive language and mannerisms in any establishment before. From someone who is meant to be setting an example to her team, it seems she could learn a thing or two from her team as for the others, thank you for always bringing great energy and being so lovely!

A smashing setting for Wetherspoons, a great pub in a lovely environment. All the usual specials and great deals with unusually excellent service. I love the menu days such as Curry Thursday, where you can get a drink and a very passable Katsu curry for less than eight pounds. You can't beat it!

The fish and chips here are (probably) underrated. The food at this weatherspoons is very good, and the staff here are so friendly and nice!! The only downfall is, it gets too busy, loud and kids screaming, maybe not great if you are noise sensitive, but that’s what happens with a Successful place, everyone wants to come here I suggest the booths are the best places to sit, if you can get a space in these! But overall I recommended it here :) Joe

Our service at the Crowborough Cross was very nice and that was a huge part to a specific staff member who was very kind and rather legendary. This man was a very handsome and sweet man who served us our drinks with such a polite and caring attitude. With his beautiful locks of golden hair and a goatee similar to that of a deity, he made our experience one in a million

HANDS DOWN the best Wetherspoons breakfast going. I come here most Saturday mornings and have *never* been disappointed. The staff here deserve all the bonus they're due. Fantastic stuff.

Went in for a simple drink and was met by a man named Karl. Karl was exceptionally kind to me during my visit and made it his personal responsibility to provide the very best service I have experienced in a restaurant. All in all, a brilliant experience 👏

So I'm here for about the 4th or 5th visit as someone who occasionally stays at the nearby Camping and Caravanning Club Site. The staff are great here nothing is too much trouble for them. The food and drink is great too and a nice atmosphere as well. Thank you to all the staff at Crowborough Cross, us customers do notice how well you look after us 😊

I didn't stay for food, but it was a very nice, quiet and relaxing Wetherspoon pub. Coffee / Tea machine got a hammering with the All Day Coffee and Tea... 😉

My family came here today for lunch and the service was more than excellent the food was amazing and the vibe and the garden were fabulous the staff are so lovely and it’s the best weather-spoons we have been to by far keep up the good work

The staff are absolutely lovely and hardworking. The food is decent but don't expect nothing fancy for few quids.

Fabulous building shame they don't allow dogs as per all wetherspoons even in beer gardens such a stupid rule so only 2 stars. Following a reply from the manager who suggests I contact head office regarding the no dogs rule. I would and I have, as have thousands of others, but as per usual you get no reply. And Tim Martin complains that profits are down, could be the thousands of dog owners who are now boycotting Wetherspoons

Service via APP is fast and efficient, perfect, Pizza arrived and it was fine. I'd also say that the place was very run down and needs more than a lick of paint. Carpets dirty and behind the tables near the windows, dusty. Shame really, as it is a wonderful venue position, just let down by decor.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Could do with some more vegan options. The vegan burger I had was good and great value. Would def go back for a quick lunch.

Gone downhill sadly. Food was OK, decor and cleanliness was poor. Several chairs were broken and stained. Haven't been in here for a while and I'm afraid won't be coming back until I hear things have improved. I'm not one to complain normally, but I was disappointed. ....sorry

Reasonable food reasonably priced. Good service. Food comes out hot and fresh, which is better than some much more expensive restaurants. Drinks are cheap. It gets busy in here though. Recommend the fish and chips, better than some chippies.

Such a nice setting. Cosy pub. Great value! Staff very friendly. Remember when this place was in ruin, Wetherspoon have done a great job. One of the nicest Wetherspoons there is. Has a lovely village pub feel and great prices. Staff are lovely too! Kids love it there, especially when we manage to get a secluded booth table!

I always come into spoons, and Karl always gives the best customer service and always checks on your when you have tried your food and the experience is always top standard. Always has a smile on his face and makes conversation with you. Thankyou Karl

Typical 'Spoons' but no Ruddles 😥 my favourite pint, not because of the price, it always goes down well. Barman said they did not sell enough of it, I said I'd tried my best. Had to settle for I.P.A. Excellent garden all looks relatively new.

Excellent value. The staff were patient as we tried to decide on our order. We went for lunch very good menu and fast service.

Staff here are always friendly and as with most weather spoons the food comes out promptly and as you’d expect. Good amount of space and outside area. Easy option for a beer or no frills dinner.

5 STARS FOR KAT! always walks over with a smile and always has straws prepared. knows exactly what i’m going to buy at the bar and always knows which drink is mine when she brings our drinks to our table. lovely to chat to and can always have a laugh with her. GIVE THIS GIRL A BONUS

Mixed Grill - an unusual choice for once, and only once, because all of the meat products were small, dry, and quite tasteless. Very poor quality, and small enough collectively (bar the sausages) to be virtually concealed under one fried egg. The Guest Ale that came with the meal though - Milestone's Donner and Blitzed - was extremely good - can't understand why John Smith's last as long as it did. Whitby Scampi - what could possibly go wrong? Nice, friendly, helpful staff, as usual.

Liam is the best server I've ever encountered, he keeps me coming to back to spoons despite my doctors advice, lovely fella, his gleeful charm, it brightens up the bar, if wetherspoons had a power outage then Liam would shine and guide the public towards spoons like the star above the Holy manger.

Always enjoy visiting The Cross at Crowborough. Staff cheerful and efficient and deal with problems in a polite manner. Wished all Wetherspoon establishments were as well run.

Really lovely location. Plenty of power points enabling it as a location to easily work from if needed. Service was great. I liked the decor and the different levels giving a different feel. 3 hours free parking near by

We bought two nice burgers two beers and cheesy chips and coke, cost @ £22. No dogs allowed inside booths not even well behaved tiny Chihuahuas so not 5 stars this time....

Breakfast served quickly after placing the order. Food excellent, happy staff and very clean. Loved the decor and pictures on the walls. No messy tables . By far the best weatherspoons. We will return.

Many to Charlotte, Spoons Crowborough bar staff, who offered a great service. She made a practical decision regarding the availability of breakfast items for our order when my Wife & I visited the other day. We regularly visit our local Spoons & always get a great experience. Many thanks to Charlotte in particular, but also to the whole Team.

Use this place a lot. Staff are always polite and helpful. The food is consistently good, the beer is good and all comes at an affordable un-inflated price. Recommended.

Fast service great korma curry. Must try the new Japanese curry next time. Table could have had a wipe down, very sticky. Staff always friendly

First visit was great but breakfast today was below average. Scrambled egg on toast, I can't believe there were 3 eggs scrambled and the toast must have been waved over the butter as I couldn't find any so the toast was left.

One star removed because cleanliness was less than perfect in December 2022 Good simple service, excellent value for money (even if it isn't that fancy). Breakfast is especially good value. Staff bright and cheerful even within minutes of morning opening and breakfast orders. Ordering using their app is also easy if you prefer. This morning's visit was good but one of the tables wasn't spotless ...
