Twin Lights is a State Historic Site built in 1862 and located in the Highlands. The towers were built so mariners would not confuse them with the Sandy Hook Lighthouse. I was able to climb the spiraling narrow steps to the top of both the North and South Towers of the Twin Lights. Once at the top, the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Sandy Hook Bay and the New York City skyline were amazing. There are museums you can tour and learn a lot about the history and purchase a souvenir at the gift shop. There are picnic tables outside for you to enjoy the beautiful view. Fun Fact: On April 25, 1893, The Pledge of Allegiance was said for the very first time at the Navesink Light Attendants Station better known today as Twin Lights.

Beautiful place to visit. Historic as well. We went all the way to the top. Stunning views of the sea. Also a beautiful place to have a picnic nearby. Interesting story in the small museum at the site.

Twin Lights State Park is a must visit if you are in the area of Sandy Hook. Lighthouse with twin lights primarily made for letting marines know the identity of the facility, and one beacon remains fixed in the night and another one flashes. Both towers are non-identical. This facility has wealth information presented in the museum. Good place for children to learn about the past of this historic site. You can climb one of the towers. You can see Manhattan clearly if you climb the tower. The Pledge of Allegiance was presented as the national oath of loyalty by its author, France Bellamy during the Liberty Pole dedication ceremony at this Lighthouse in 1893, marking the first Pledge at an official patriotic event.

Beautiful historic area of NJ. The first time the pledge of Allegiance was recited here. The grounds and building are perfectly maintained incredible views from the top. There's a gift shop, musuem, bathrooms and plenty of parking. It's especially pretty st Christmas time.

Nice place to explore museums on-site with beautiful overlook and scenic views and very photographic. I did find a spot off property to capture a drone angle, but dont try to fly here or over this site as it's a protected site and illegal it is a no drone zone, I legally took this from a residence behind the property and it's cropped and not the actual distance. But it shows how important the light house was and its placement in reference to the barrier islands below. History must be preserved. There is a small fee which helps with up-keep of the property so well worth it.

A good amount of history. The lens itself is worth the free visit! Great views from both towers!

Such a pretty spot with well preserved historic buildings and lighthouse. We visited many many years ago, when our kids were young. It is nice to see it again. It was chilly! Wear warm clothing this time of year ;) There are abundant ramps and paved walkways around the buildings, however, the bathroom that is open to the outside is not accessible (there are stairs inside, and one step up from the outside). It’s free to visit, but there’s a charge to walk up during the season ($5 adults/$2 children). No charge from Nov til Memorial Day, the off-season. Museum and the North tower are open Wednesday-Sunday 10AM - 4PM. Pets are welcome outside (leashed). Plenty of parking.

We'll worth going, especially if you like history and lighthouses. Free to go up the north tower; until Memorial day thru Sept, then there's a fee. Great views. Last, the South tower is being ready for visitors too and we'll be able to climb up there soon.

A really great place to visit. The history is fascinating. Love getting to see the different light fixtures used over the decades and tour the museum. You can even see NYC from the front of the lighthouse. Only one of the light house towers was open during my visit.

This is an interesting historical site to go to. You can do a self-guided tour of the inside and outside or have a tour guide. The view is amazing and you can even go up into the lighthouse. Great history and worth the spot. The only bummer was it was a bit foggy the afternoon we went.

Bigger than I was expecting. Great views, lots to see. The most interesting thing was fresnel lens, mysterious glow that you must see in person.

Impressive 1870's lighthouse with an up to date and professionally prepared museum. The view from the towers is the highlight! At well over 200 feet of elevation, you can see NYC, Sandy Hook, and virtually everything else in the area. Do note the tower stairs are narrow and steep, so you need good mobility to enjoy that part. Admission is free for the grounds and museum, but you have to pay to climb the light towers.

Early enjoyed this little park. It’s free, there’s a lot of informative exhibitions. We got to climb the tower, go through the gift shop, and use a Morse code device. It’s not a long tour, but it was definitely appreciated as I’ve never been to this part of New Jersey before.

The site includes a small, but nicely done museum. It includes a Marconi wireless apparatus, first used at the Twin Lighthouse. The twin towers themselves are magnificent structures, built to last. Although no longer operational, due to lack of need because of advances in ocean navigation systems, the site still commands a magnificent view of the surrounding area. Built atop the largest land mass between Maine and South America, you can see Manhatten, Staten Island, and Long Island from the towers. They also afford a magnificent view of nearby Sandy Hook National Park. Well worth a visit. The towers are not accessible to handicapped individuals.

There is a lot of history at this unique lighthouse which has two towers with different shapes. Site of America’s first Fresnel lenses; a fixed 1st order in the north tower and a rotating 2nd order in the south tower. It was also the first primary lighthouse in the US to generate its own electricity. The current structure dates to 1862 and resembles the Army Core of Engineers logo. The lighthouse is in excellent condition and open for climbing on a regular basis. There are beautiful views of Sandy Hook Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and the New Your City skyline in the distance. There is also a wonderful museum in the building and an outbuilding which houses a Fresnel Lens.

Very cool place. Definitely worth seeing if you love lighthouses. There is a cute little gift shop and museum inside. We even got to climb both towers!! It's free to visit, you only pay a small fee to climb the towers.

We really enjoyed our day trip here! Very interesting history behind the lighthouses and the climb to the top was definitely worth the view (76 steps). The staff was super friendly and helpful as well. The museum is free and it is $5 during season (free in off season!) to climb both towers. Great deal!

Great place to visit when in the area. Fantastic view overlooking Sandy Hook Bay, with views of the NYC skyline. Uniquely designed building with twin lighthouses in a Fort configuration. Worthwhile and free. A bit of a steep precarious road to the entrance...

Historic lighthouse worth checking out. Beautiful ocean views with distant NYC and Long Island skyline. Go inside to climb up the tower and visit the museum and gift shop. The only fee is $5.00 donation to climb north tower otherwise the museum and grounds are free to enter. Normally open until 4:30pm daily except for special full moon and tree lighting events.
