Love Modern Tekniques and their stylist Jonny! I am always so satisfied with the cut/color Jonny gives me. He takes the time to listen and apply what I’m asking for, while also giving me tips on how to care for the color and protect the integrity of my hair. The salon is clean and professional with friendly staff. Would highly recommend the salon in general, but especially Jonny!

I've known my hairdresser for 20 years. Alanna is everything you want in a professional cosmetologist. They are transparent regarding pricing, and they will patiently answer all of your questions (even before you book with them). They will talk you through every step of the process they're doing for you, and explain why it's important. I wish I could shout to the mountains how absolutely amazing they are.

Where to start?! This salon is awesome! Everyone I encountered was so pleasant, professional and genuinely loved their job and design universe. The joint was jumping at noon time, yet they were attentive to me – even being a newbie! Julianna was polite as I walked and checked me in with a new client card. Roe introduced herself and explained Kim would be with me in a moment. Of course she was polite to ask if I needed anything. Sophia kindly brought me to the back to get my hair washed and with a delightful manner. They all spoke to me with smiles and wonderful personalities. The whole place welcomed me as if I was there a lifetime. The wall is full of positive art that makes you feel empowered. Kim was so attentive to my consultation. The entire haircut was just full of positive vides. She gave me that feeling of a good mindset. Somehow my daily huge amount of trauma and crazy emotions lifted. Kim’s haircut was incredible! I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Even with the conversation of me leaving to live in NC, she treated me with such devotion to her clientele team. When I say, I’m headed back to NJ 2 or 3 times a year to visit family, I will pre-schedule my haircut with this beautiful, charming lady. I walked out with my head up high, my shoulders back, feeling inner self-confidence. I swear to you this place is special. You will not go wrong with any of the stylists you select. The place itself and all the employees there will make you feel like you matter, your important and we want to make you beautiful. And they will!!! Thank you, Kim Canstantineau. Such a fantastic experience. I only wish I had researched and found this place and Kim sooner. And I’m starting her book “Tragic Beginnings to Fairytale Endings”. Look for it soon on Amazon.

I love Modern Tekniques! This salon is the best salon in NJ. The owner Kim is amazing and Alanna is amazing at hair extensions and so much more. Alanna and Kim have done an amazing job helping me feel so confident and beautiful. Alanna is so detailed and she helped me select my extensions and did a great job installing the extensions—they literally make me feel like a model. I highly recommend this salon and Alanna and Kim! They are the BEST!

I had a great experience with the salon and with Alanna! Considering my hair was already colored, what I wanted was not easy, but Alanna achieved it even better than I imagined. The staff is very friendly, and I highly recommend modern techniques!

I don't think I've felt more confident than when Alanna swirled me around and I saw how she transformed me from a female Frank Gallagher into a blonde trestled angel. It was my first time at this salon and everyone from the minute I walked in was professional but with personalities which was such a relief to find. However, Alanna was definitely the shining star of my day. She listened to what I wanted (even though I had no clue) and executed my vague instructions masterfully. She was saint like in listening to my salon chair ramblings yet quirky enough to get some laughs out of me. It was just such a wonderful experience all around. 11/10 would highly recommend. *They DO charge an extra fee to cut your hair if it's long which I feel is good to know up front.

I got a haircut here from Alanna and it was amazing. She was super nice and attentive and the whole atmosphere was friendly and light. I brought my mom and friend because we had errands to run after and there was a little spot for them to sit and chat. I have autism and get anxious when I have to go somewhere new, and as a trans person the haircut experience can cause even more anxiety but I felt super comfortable here. Will definitely be coming here again and I’m recommending it to my friends.

I’ve been going to MaryBeth for years. Originally her salon was but a 3 min walk from my office in downtown NYC. When I saw my first haircut from her it was love at first sight. Once I moved to NJ I was delighted to find out she was also keeping Salon hours in NJ. It should be noted that I drive an hour to see her and an hour back - THAT’s how good her cuts are. She’s always appropriately encouraging and pushing the boundaries of what a comfortable hair style is for me and never lets me get too attached to one style for too long. It’s actually the push and creativity I need. Marybeth is great and ALWAYS shows up with a positive attitude and vibe. It makes my 2-hour r/t drive well worth the journey.

The universe is truly in divine order! I somehow made my way here and met sweet Alanna. A true artist and so talented. I didn’t give her an easy task .. my hair was always highlighted and blonde but more difficult to manage the color since so much grey has appeared. I also have lots of long hair. She managed to balance out back natural color with the front . And magically I now have beautiful chic grey hair. She is very knowledgable with color .. really really good! And most important listens to what you want. I’m mad about her .. so talented! The salon has a great atmosphere… very good vibe ! Love it here .. so lucky to find this place. I highly recommend Alanna .. and the salon. Sitting here watching I see a lot of really talented artists working here! Thank you Alanna… I’m thrilled!

I have curly hair so I’m super particular with what haircut I want. I’ve been going to Alanna after my old hairstylist left and I’m not disappointed. Alanna cut and colored my hair better than how I wanted it. I only had slight scheduling issues however. I made an appointment for a cut and color and whoever was on the other side of the phone didn’t ask me what I wanted to do with my hair color wise, so I assumed it was ok. Though I probably should have been more specific, but she didn’t ask so I didn’t think there was an issue. When I got there I found out I was only scheduled for a cut. After some scheduling changes with other clients that day, Alanna was able to get both my cut and color done. I just feel like booking appointments could involve more communication.Other than that, the service was good and I love how my hair turned out.
