The place is very nice. If you are visiting Maithon then definately try to stay here. You can only book rooms in advamce from Kolkata DVC office at Ultadanga. The position of this guest house is amazing. You are in the middle of water. The service are also very good. Rate of meals are very cheap but meals are delicious. You can travel in water by boat. I am super impressed.

A very good place to pass idle days at Maithon for sheer relaxation and leisure. Don't compare it to a hotel and it's not for those who believe in comforts of modern day star rated hotels. It's a mere guest house where rooms (AC& non AC) are quite good and maintained. There are two/ three suits , but better not to book them as the booking will be cancelled once sudden visits of Government officials are scheduled. Food is simple but tasty, non spicy and exceptionally cheap. The quality is top grade. The view from the balcony is soothing particularly during rainy season. The staffs are well behaved and cooperative. I find the place fit for occasional rest and recuperation mainly during winter or rainy seasons.

It is a property of DAMODAR VALLEY CORPORATION (DVC) situated in Maithon, Jharkhand. This property is located amidst water like an island, from where a beautiful view of Maithon Dam can be seen. There are suites, a.c rooms and non a.c rooms. The garden inside the property is well maintained. Boating can also be done. Traditional food is available here. There are local shops for daily shopping. But parking facility is not available inside the premises. People can visit nearby places like Maa Kalyaneshwari Mandir, Panchet dam, Garpanchkot etc.staying there.

Wonderful view of the reservoir. Situated in a small island so feels like surrounded by calm water. The walkway to the guest house is breathtakingly beautiful.

Rooms are on the older side, so a bit of unkempt. Very airy. Thick walls, so heat of April didn't bother even a bit. Room service is a bit lacking. They are well behaved enough, but not quick to serve. Food options are limited but tasty. Location is the best thing about here. Situated on an island in the lake, it's water on every side.

It is the best place to stay at Mython operated by DVC just beside the main road. Non-Ac rooms are quite good for 2 persons with 2 single cots. Electrical fittings and bathroom taps were not working properly. Comode was there but without jet spray, good idea. Secured place with 24x7 security. Limited food options are there. Cost of food is pocket friendly.

Was sent back from DVC kolkata office gate by CISF guard by saying, it is only available to DVC employees. So, if you are not DVC employee, don’t waste your time trying to book this.

Location :Excellent Staff behaviour : Excellent But maintenance is poor. Rooms are shabby with unclean beds.Washroom was too dirty. If these things could be improved then the place would reach different heights.

Best place to spend the week end when your budget is low, average rooms on groundfloor but on 2nd floor there two suites that can be booked and are very good, per day cost approx 1200 for 3 people including breakfast lunch and dinner

Majumdar niwas is best as compared to other hotel/Guest House for location. Food prices is reasonable, all the food are so tasty but limited options. If anyone want to stay in maithon must stay at Majumdar niwas

This is an Govt Guest House ... Booking is done by HR Department of DVC Maithon .....

First of all, this is a Gov. guest house so dont compare it with hotel. Location is good, staff is friendly and helpful, Food is cheap but with limited options, you can enjoy soothing environment, Boat ride to island.

Extraordinary location. Very neat and clean. Awesome view all around. Building is old but very well maintained. Food is very homely and pocket friendly but with very limited option. Staffs are very well behaved. Only big problem that I found is that you have to give food orders well in advance and if you miss anyhow then they will not be able to provide you food.

It's in an island of maithon dam.view and stay here is just awesome.instant booking is not done here.u have to pre booking from kolkata,or their offices,or online.but the parking lot is at the main entrance....which is a bit distance from it. overnight view from here just awesome.

It is a island in the DVC hydro project water catchment area. Rooms are available for tourists. Boating can be done here.

The first advantage is its location. It's in such a location that no one can beat 😊. It's in an island and it's the only construction in that island. 😀. Rooms are okay, just like any other government guest house. But it's rooms and toilets are clean. We got a room in first floor with no tv and from the balcony you can see the river. There are suites available and those are a bit costly. The only advantage of those suites are you will get some extra aminites. However booking of rooms in this guest house is not so easy. They don't have online booking facilities, and we had to book it through DVC Office, Ultadanga. Surroundings are also good. Food quality is okay and have very limited choices. You have to order the foods in advance for next day. Staffs are okay and somewhat helpful.
