(Translated by Google) This is a house that carries the spirit of romantic love. It is always a pleasure to return to the past, in an age without social networks and modern technology. The location of the house is near the Danube River and a few minutes walk from the main square of Rousse. Museum exhibitions are also suitable for children.

(Translated by Google) MUSEUM OF URBAN BIT 39 Ferdinand Street, Contact: 082 / 82-09-97 Work time: Tuesday-Saturday - 9:00 - 17:30 No day off Entrance fee: for students and students - BGN 2,00, for individual visitors - 5,00 BGN, for organized groups (over 5 people) - 4,00 BGN, talk in Bulgarian - 10,00 BGN The house where the Museum of Urban Ways is housed is built in the 60s of the 19th century. It houses the Prussian Consulate. After the Liberation of Bulgaria (1878) the house became the property of the wealthy Rousse merchant Stefan Kamburov - a prominent citizen, a participant in the Committee for the acceptance of the Bulgarian Exarchate in Constantinople (1870). At his invitation in 1886 from Bucharest to Rousse comes the Austrian painter Charles Schaussberg, who writes the walls and ceilings on the second floor as it was modern at that time. Shaussberg's frescoes and signature are preserved. The exposition in the City Art Museum is from a later period compared to the style of the house. The exhibition focuses on the signs of Modernity in the everyday life and festivity of the Russians from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The museum of the city life is open to visitors in 1987. This is the first ethnographic museum in Bulgaria that presents urban (bourgeois) culture. On the first floor, temporary exhibitions present various collections of museum funds illustrating the developed commercial and cultural ties of the city with Europe, as well as the rapidly acquired by the Ruse new cultural models of celebration and everyday life. In 2007, the theme "Food and Nutrition in Modernity" was presented. It illustrates the changes that have occurred in urban cuisine and are symbolic in the processes of creating typical urban socio-cultural behaviors. The new kitchen machines - stoves and freezers, ice cream machines, meat grinders, mixers, change the ways of preparing and storing food, and expensive dining outlets made of porcelain, glass and silver are a sign of new public status and prestige. The city's typical restaurants are also emerging as a consequence of the need for a leisurely leisure in the urban development. The second floor of the house presents an exemplary interior of a rich town house with its characteristic rooms - a lounge for guests, a music hall for home concerts, a room for the hostess and a bedroom. They are furnished with furniture imported from Austria and Germany, and the decoration of many items of porcelain, glass, silver, mother-of-pearl "tells" not only the developed commercial connections of the city with Europe but also the financial possibilities of the wealthy Rousse families. The City Art Museum is also known as the Kaliopa House. Urban myths tell that the beautiful Kaliopa was the mistress of Midhat Pasha.

Admission is 5 leva which is a bit too much for such a tiny place, but the lady who runs the place (doesn't speak any English but is lovely) gave me two booklets in English about this museum and other places to see in Ruse. The house was built in the 1860s to serve as the Consulate of Prussia. The museum is dedicated to city life (particularly that of the very rich) after the 1878 liberation when Ruse flourished. There is a collection of German and Italian porcelain on the ground floor, costumes, dresses and different daily use objects. The highlight of the place is the upper floor which is a reconstruction of a typical rich family house at the end of the 19th century

Interesting place - original urban life at 1800. But not a nice smell, heavy odor, the house need permanent fresh air from outside in a way or another.

It will be great if the whole exhibition in the museum will be dedicated to the Ruse lifestyle during prosperity and booming time after the liberation. Now it covers just the history of the house itself. The tour from the museum lady wasn't interesting just some facts about the background of the house and such a 10 minute tour cost 7,50 euros. The exhibition of glass stuff on the first floor was inane.

Small museum depicting changes in urban lifestyle across several decades in the little town of Ruse. If you visit during the winter months, mind that the museum does not have any heating source, so it might be actually colder than outside.

The museum itself is worth it but if you are interested to know more historical details book a guided toor - it was very informative. You’d get to know more about the city and how the locals lived in the past 100-200 years.

The lady tour guide was lovely and very knowledgeable, you can learn a lot of interesting facts about people and life in the previous 2~ centuries. You can see very interesting, beautiful and preserved artefacts. The house itself is an artefact too! Overall, I and my friends were very pleased with our visit there. :) Admission is 5 lv and in my opinion it was very well spent.

This is a hidden gem. When you first walk in, it might not seem like much, but the curator there who took care of us when we went was absolutely fabulous. She's spent decades there. Knows plenty of history about the city, and is willing to share all of it with you, from facts to myths and legends.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting museum. For the first time, I come across such exposure. Typically, ethnographic museums represent the typical Bulgarian way of life. And this one represents the European way of life that was born more than a century ago in the most European Bulgarian city at that time. There are exceptional furniture, wood carving purposes, beautiful and elegant upholstered furniture, unique fireplace. And the house with murals on the walls and ceilings on the second floor is like a fairy tale.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting museum. On the first floor is presented the life and the life of Rousse in the early 19th century, and the second floor is beautifully painted and shows how it looked like a house of a rich family from that period. The furniture is made very precisely and piano and other musical instruments can be seen. The excursion to the museum tells in a very fascinating way the story of both the city and the house. Do not miss the legend of Kaliopa!
