Absolutely lovely place! So quaint and beautifully decorated with Alice In Wonderland quotes/ murals and pictures that just added to how magical this place is. To add to that, our meal was incredible. All of our party thoroughly enjoyed our meals, as did our dogs with their doggy dinners. Would defo recommend! Lovely staff! 5 stars

Amazing food, atmosphere and service! I went here for a family celebration. There were 9 of us and we were all so impressed with the food and service given! A fantastic place for dogs to join as they do incredible dog friendly dinners! Will definitely go back!

Beautiful meal, we booked ahead as we know this place gets busy. We love that it’s dog friendly and we had two small dogs with us. It’s very nicely decorated inside and the staff are all so friendly and efficient, the manager welcomed us, she was busy cleaning tables and answering the phone and it’s nice to see everyone chipping in to make the experience a good one. The food was amazing including the doggy menu. The portion size is generous and the quality is great, the pork roast dinner was beautifully tender and the gravy was so good I’d go back just for that. Absolutely worth the drive.

Quirky place but has been a disappointment. We went to Rose Cottage for my birthday and it really failed to deliver. We ordered our drinks and the waiter did not know what drinks they had and there was no drinks menu. We ordered a starter which was okay. Then we had to wait 45 minutes for our main which was way too long. There was no apology for the delay, no asking us of we wanted more drinks and to be fair the service was really poor. The mains was delicious but I had the duck and had to spit out some fat that had not been rendered properly and was not very nice to taste. We was asked if we wanted the dessert menu, and when the guy came back he threw the menus on the table of which was unacceptable. The desserts came in a timely manner and I had the treacle tart with custard and the sponge was light but it was burnt on top of which left a really bad after taste, my wife ordered the Eton mess and was disappointed that no fresh fruit was used. We sat down at the table at 6:30pm and left at 8:45 which was way too long

We ate at The Rose Cottage recently and the food and service were SUPERB. Nicky & her team did an amazing job looking after us. One of the nicest places we've visited in quite a while and can't wait to visit again... soon.

What a beautiful little place! Visited here a while back and had a lovely meal. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious! Probably one of the best meals I've had out. I will be returning soon so super excited!

Dined out for Valentines 3 Course meal at the Rose Cottage🌹. I must say it was beautifully decorated, Currently displaying an Alice in Wonderland Theme. The service was really good and the staff are very welcoming and so nice throughout the whole night, the staff here are probably the friendliest and most helpful I ever had the privilege of meeting. The waiting times between The food me and my partner had was delicious😋, compliments to the chef 👨‍🍳 👩‍🍳. Thank you for a fantastic time at The Rose Cottage 🙏❤

Visited last night 9th May two of us and the starter was ok Garlic Mushrooms but the main Lasagne was absolutely shocking we were told it was fresh and home made which clearly it wasn’t! Tasteless and rubbery microwave quality 100%. We asked for some Parmesan Cheese and they didn’t have any and said I’ll get you some normal cheese which arrived after 10mins with trying to chew through the lasagne unbelievable. We complained and said we weren’t happy with it and wanted it removing from the bill and they said no because we’d already said to the guy whilst asking for the cheese everything was ok but clearly having started to eat it it WASN’T….. as a gesture of goodwill they discounted the bill by £5 which was a disgrace I live in the local area and will certainly be mentioning this to friends and family to avoid for sure….

Was away at Centre Parcs Sherwood Forest & its nearly right outside the entrance which was perfectly located. Its a very traditional country pub which i love & doing homemade cooked meals there's plenty of eating areas & the staff are so warm & friendly which is a credit to the owners. I had a brilliant pint of my favourite Spanish larger & there's plenty to choose from on the menu i had to try the pie of the day which is my all time favourite been lamb & mint pie with proper chunky chips which was absolutely gorgeous & so tasty i started with some cheesy garlic bread which was also fantastic i was stuffed but just wondered what the Cheesecake of the day was & the very pleasant assistant said it was mint Cheesecake with ice cream or pouring cream i was gobsmacked because that is also my all time favourite & I've eaten a few in Cheesecake Factory restaurants in Florida & gotta say it has to be one of the most gorgeous Cheesecakes i've ever had this has been a truly amazing experience eating in the restaurant & will definitely be back just wished i lived nearer

What a wonderful place. We initially found this place as a Brit stop for use to park up for the night while travelling through. We booked in for a meal and the food was delicious. The inside of the pub was decorated with Alice in wonderland ornaments and gave off a magical aura! Would definitely visit again.

It's so great that dogs are not only welcome but encouraged. All of the staff were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Katie was more than happy to help with allergies and even checked ingredients for an uncommon allergy for us. The food was stunning and couldn't fault a thing. The service was perfect, would absolutely return again.

Visited this charming pub whilst caravaning in the area. Interior decoration is beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful (we visited in August 2022 and they seemed short staffed, but then so is everywhere currently). The Sunday roasts were excellent. The pub is extremely dog-friendly, even going to the trouble of offering a dog appropriate sized meal. I would definitely recommend this place if you are holidaying in the area.

Absolutely beautiful piece of sea bass with perfect accompaniments. Superb choice as could choose from the lunch or main menu. The gammon was said to have been very lean and enjoyable. The treacle sponge and apple crumble certainly didn't disappoint either! A lovely place to come to when walking around Rufford Abbey as dogs are made very welcome and the doggy dinner was devoured. Thank you so much, we will definitely return to this comfortable, quirky, friendly pub.

Came for lunch on a Tuesday after going to go-ape. Had been wanting to come as we love going to the Little John. Table of 3, ordered Rump Steak & Small fish and chips. Staff were friendly. Food was ok, the fish looked huge but it was mainly batter. The chips although homemade tasted a little odd. Reasonably priced for lunch 8.50 for small fish & chips. Ordered dessert but this was quite poor, sticky toffee pudding was cold in the middle and a little tough. Steak wasn't worth 21.95, didn't come with any sauce so was very dry. I would come back just not in a hurry.

I had the sea ​​bass it was just a bit over cooked that made it dry there was a potato (salade) and that was it. Not real much to eat but tasted not to bad. My wife had gammon her plate was quite full however gammon was bit to salty but again tasted not bad. No sauces. Waitres only shown up to get our order after that didn't see her. So this restaurant is not bad but not exceptional good either.

Visited The Rose Cottage before checking in at Center Parcs and we all really enjoyed this pub. The staff were lovely, the meal was great including the treat for our dog and set us up for a great stay. Only disappointment was the pizzas were unavailable but the replacement sausage and mash was enjoyed equally as much. Superb fish finger sandwich and chips also 👍 Hope to return one day and can recommend The Rose Cottage if you're in the area. A very friendly pub serving good beer and food.

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my partner and it exceeded my expectations, the food was delicious with the best belly pork I have ever tasted and the best presented food on a plate I've ever had. The staff where very welcoming and service was speedy and perfectly timed will definitely be a place I would recommend to people and come to again especially with the Alice and wonderland theme throughout loved it

Just got out of this place after a great dining experience. Never got the name of the chap who looked after us (we were the ones playing Rock Paper Scissors in the corner). Everything from start to finish was top class. Firstly we booked and had to change our reservation slightly, they accommodated no grumbles. Checked in fast with a great table and offered drinks within 5 mins. Dairy free menu available and catered for. Starters served with style and care, halloumi fries 👌. Main course Sunday Lunch, out of sausage but the chicken was incredible (Glad they ran out). Plates piping hot and gravy really flavoursome. Decided to go for pudding, again great presentation and tasted just great. Ironically there was a wasp trapped in the window behind us, quick mention to one of the guys and sorted like that *magic* . We will recommend this restaurant and will bring others when we come again. Thank you

Nikki and Neil and team (Izzy on the phone from booking our first table). Where so welcoming, helpful and friendly. We were staying at Forest holidays.. Our first visit was the 22/12 = perfect start to our holiday. We were moved table as the lovely ladies could see our dog was stressed by a large dog. Food amazing (Large portions) Second Visit = 24/12 - we had either starters as a main or a kids dinner (we learnt the portion size) 🙂 Final visit = 29/12 - once again amazing service, food. The team really did make our Christmas 🎄. We live an hour away - so wish they were closer to home. However we will make journeys throughout the year as - Food and people worth it. Will always phone and book to avoid disappointment of not being able to get in! Great Dog Friendly pub

Me and my family visited the rose cottage last weekend, and I must say it was BEAUTIFUL. We were welcomed by who I believe was the landlady and she made us feel very welcome and really comfortable. Since our table was for 8 people we were informed that there would be an hour-long wait for our food, yet it arrived in thirty minutes. Every dish we had looked fantastic and tasted even better- all freshly cooked food. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend to everyone, and can't wait to return.
