The staff were really welcoming and friendly, often saying good morning when arriving for breakfast. The breakfast was the typical Holiday Inn Express buffet including cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread, mini muffins as well as a few hot items like bacon, beans, sausages and hash browns on occasion. The room overlooked the River Tyne which was nice although it is close to the railway line and a late evening freight train was noticeable. The room was a little dated and my only gripe was the lack of 240v socket near the bed. The room was well stocked with tea and coffee which was nice. When it came to sleepy time, the bed was a little on the hard side for my liking, but okay for a weekend stay. The room rate was reasonable, the location convenient, especially for the Metro Centre, and overall I had an enjoyable stay.

Room was a decent size and clean. Bed was comfortable. They were able to put a travel cot in the room for us which saved some space in the car. The shower pressure is low, but usable. The main issue was the heat in the room. There’s no AC, a small oscillating fan was supplied but it did nothing to cut through the unbearably hot temperature in the room. Some of the sweatiest two nights sleep of my life.

Hotel was basic, not many plug sockets, no pen or paper to do any work. Quite close to a busy road so can hear that from the room. The heater is a bit odd, you have to get under the desk to see what temperature it's on. It was cold in the room, couldn't see the temperature the heater was set to so cranked it up then was too hot in the night, turned it off and was cold in the morning. Bit of a design fault that, plus no plug sockets near the bed, reckon most people would want to charge phone next to the bed. Breakfast was a bit lame, only 4 cooked breakfast items, bacon (over done), Sausages, beans and scrambled eggs. Does have other stuff, tried a muffin was very dry. Also very odd, but for breakfast, tv was on mute and most guests where eating alone so was quite. All I could hear was staff Moaning about things, "bananas are going black" coffee and tea is too expensive, "they have never been paid correctly" went on and on. Not very professional! For £95 I could have got a better hotel with better breakfast Inc. Wouldn't stay again.

Received excellent customer service throughout my stay. Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. The shower could have done with being more powerful but otherwise I would recommend highly and it was perfect for an overnight stay. The breakfast was lovely but I didn't like the communal jars of spreads such as jam and hot food was a small choice, could do with a hash brown been thrown in!

We had a family room on the 1st floor. It was clean and the beds were ok although the bathroom was a bit tired. Breakfast was lovely and there was ample free parking but I wasn’t happy with dogs on site. The one in the room next to us was barking through the night and I must have woke up at least 3 times. I would stay again but only in a dog free area.

Stayed here end of September as a family of 4 with young babies. Great location very near the metro centre. Rooms were excellent. Staff very friendly. Excellent service and the breakfast added to the price was an added bonus which meant we didn’t need to travel for breakfast. A excellent variety of breakfast meals. Will be back very soon again.

The hotel rooms were quite nice but it was the train track view that put me off as you would hear the train going past during the night, other than that the breakfast and service were really nice with a lovely little buffet style breakfast area with lukewarm sausages and other nice options, would recommend.

This was our second visit to this hotel equally enjoyable as the first. On this occasion we checked out and visited IKEA spending quite a while in it, reached into my pocket for my phone and PANIC! It wasn’t there. Having NO idea where it could be I decided to start back at the hotel. On entering I explained to the gentleman at the desk that I had stayed the night before in room 104 and he immediately stopped me…”I have it here”, he said he found it in the room when he went to fix a light I reported earlier. What a lovely honest man, a real gem for any employer. I thank him and I thank the Hotel for employing him. He is a credit to your company. Holiday Inn Express…….I am impressed! THERE ARE HONEST PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES AROUND.

Stayed to watch the Newcastle came, location was convenient as there is a bus stop outside the hotel. Lauren on reception checked us in, she was polite and friendly. I didn’t sleep well as the bed was hard and could hear noise from guests entering and leaving the lift, we were in room 400. The room was clean and had everything you could need for a stay. The bathroom was not private at all. The door opens and closes on to the toilet so someone could use the shower whilst someone could use the toilet, not ideal. The hairdryer in our room was broken, I rang reception and requested a new one to be bought to our room as I had just got out the shower. It never arrived which was disappointing. Troy was our breakfast waiter who was lovely, breakfast was hot and fresh with plenty of choice. Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again due to the lack of sleep.

Stayed here for around a week on business, the room I got had two single beds, but they kindly managed to find me a double bed, being 6ft this was better. The room was fine, good TV, WiFi etc. Sleep quality was pretty good, comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and one of the best I've ever had at a Holiday Inn, compliments to the chef and all the staff here! Enjoyable stay.

Stayed overnight on way to a recent holiday. Although I got a discount through work, it was still reasonably priced for a family room for one night. Booking in was easy and the reception staff were polite and welcoming. In less than ten minutes we had been booked in and directed to our room. The room was clean and tidy with a double bed and a double sofabed, both of which were comfy and led to a good night's sleep. There was also a TV on the room. A separate toilet and shower were in room which were clean and had towels available. Breakfast was between 6.30am & 10am, there was a good selection of food available. Various cereals, breads with a toaster to use, sausage, eggs, bacon, beans & mushrooms were the hot food. There was also fruit juice, tea, coffee and milk available. Although there wasn't much around the area, I would recommend this holiday Inn for an overnight stay.

Holiday Inn Express is a great choice and check in was super easy. There us plenty of parking and the breakfast area us bigger than some of the other Express hotels. The breakfast is always worth having and there was soya milk on offer as well. Fresh fruit is also available, which is very welcome. The room itself is clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable. The sofa in the bedroom made it a lot more comfortable. There is a hairdryer, iron and one USB socket next to the bed. One or two things we will mention to the hotel are the loose window guard and the interesting lighting arrangement of switches means that you can't have just one bedside light on. Otherwise the room feels spacious and there is a lift up to each floor. One nice touch is that there is replacement milk, tea and coffee by the lift. All in all we have had a very pleasant stay.

Quite a spacious room, especially after having spent the best part of a fortnight in a Premier Inn Hub in London. Amenities in the room were a nice touch. Showers a bit lacking in power and heat though. Breakfast OK and plenty of food options within a short walk or drive depending on what you want.

Great hotel. Free parking, clean, responsive to any questions before you arrive. Staff are very friendly and helpful. breakfast is free with your stay. It's like half English continental. But plenty to pick from. The kids couldn't make it down in the morning, and the staff was very helpful. Went out their way and gave me 2 paper bags and a small box to make up a pack lunch for them. That was something I've never had in a hotel. Very helpful.

Great value hotel. It's very handy for the metro centre. A few eateries are handily on the same site, too. The room was clean, warm and quiet. Railway line passes by the rear of the hotel but could hardly hear it. Staff on reception and bar very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return if in the Newcastle area again.

Free parking. Richard on reception as we came back from our night out was so friendly and helpful very nice staff and the hotel was spotless. The only gripe was no beans at breakfast my wife doesn't eat eggs and we're vegetarian. Would stay again.

Very good in all respects. It's very good value for money. Location very good to access Metro Centre and retail parks. Our price included breakfast. Nice and clean too. Staff seem to be vigilant at keeping it clean and tidy. Rooms have good lighting but i would have preferred more light but that's down to preference.

Lovely stay. Hotel very clean and spacious. Staff friendly and efficient. Nice view of the river. Breakfast good, but could be more choice. Special thank you to Adam for finding and returning my purse (and umbrella) that I accidently dropped out of my bag in the restaurant. Adam is also very knowledgeable and welcoming to guests.

The room was clean 👌 the staff were exceptional and very helpful. You could actually use the hotel to train others to follow suit. Holiday Inn express at the metro centre is worthy of a visit and is definitely worth the money. Thank you for a wonderful stay .

Our stay was okay, we booked 2 rooms. One room had a very bad odour, a combo of cigarette, sweat and damp smell. This kind of smell would trigger my asthma straightaway, luckily I did not have to sleep in that room. I would suggest airing and cleaning the rooms thoroughly. In addition, no mini fridges in the room but they kept baby milk in their kicthen fridge but this meant we kept having to go down to get it. They had a microwave which was available to use 24/7 which is very handy, really appreciated this. Breakfast buffet was basic, not a lot of options. Friendly staff. Big car park. Rooms are very hot, table fan not strong enough. Bed comfortable.

Excellent week's stay at this hotel. Very good value for money. Excellent location for Newcastle city centre and Metro centre. Lovely, clean room with excellent housekeeping and helpful staff. Close to railway station and good bus routes. Good choice for free breakfast. Lift to all floors.

Check in easy. Room spotlessly clean had everything we wanted. Big white fluffy towels. Bed a bit to hard for us. Room had view of river. Staff friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was great, plenty of good food replenished all the time. We had a great time, will definitely be back and would recommend.

Easy reach from the motorway set in a business park next to the Metro shopping centre. Lovely staff on arrival. Comfortable bed and clean, spacious room with good pillows and a decent shower. Good running routes around the whole business park area using a cycle trail, which was recommended by the guy on reception. Breakfast was decent choice and hot buffet and nice croissants. Stairs floor should have been a lot cleaner, the main reason for less stars but minor in perspective.

This was perfect example of why Holiday Inn is my first choice. It was perfect location for layover on my journey to North Shields port. Massive shopping mall nearby provided ample dining options. The service in the morning for breakfast was great. Despite really busy morning, staff kept replenishing food quickly. I did not see anyone wait for anything. I requested for slightly late checkout and it was accommodated without any issues. Highly recommended.

We picked this hotel because we were bringing the car and needed somewhere with parking that also had transport into Newcastle. We had also looked at the reviews which were excellent. The staff were great and helped us with the bus into the town, the stop is minutes from the hotel although the road can be a bit tricky to cross on the way back, however you can walk down the road and it's easier to get across. The included breakfast was excellent although the contents changed a little each day. The rooms could be doing with an update but other than that I can highly recommend this hotel.
