The administration process from this medical centre is absolutely terrible ! I have been trying to get into consultation since I have arrived in the UK (6 months ago) but simply do not answers the calls. The wellbeing department from the University had to intervene on my behalf for them to even pick up the phone , when they started answering the calls they just told me to call the next day as they do not have any slots . So the next possible consultation I have is in April and by phone. I am an international student who suffer from chronic conditions and probably never have access to medical attention in this city if I rely on this medical centre. The receptionist are rude on the phone and do not give you any opportunity to explain your situation. Honestly I ended up here because I live close and had no experience with this whatsoever, but I will do my best to change the GP , it was the worst decision I have ever made. Even my home country (which is a 3rd world country) the access to healthcare is not that difficult. If you are an international student and you are reading my review do not register with this GP , if you want access to consultations.

I am simply going to list my various negative experiences as well as set out a warning to anyone else suffering from anxiety- DO NOT EVER go near this place - Hung up on twice - Same receptionist was extremely rude, I was very new to going to the doctors by myself etc so I asked a few too many questions and she had a horrible tone and decided to hang up on me. She also stated that “Maybe I wouldn’t be so anxious if I took my tablets”. As someone who suffers from alot of anxiety this specific receptionist really set me off, especially with her comments and seemingly no knowledge about mental health whatsoever - I have had to basically fight to get my medication, although diagnosed with anxiety in november of 2021, when moving to this practice they seemingly did not believe me?. again, considering I suffer from anxiety you would think a more understanding approach would be needed, but no, time after time I had to basically beg to get my medication. - you will never get an appointment unless you get a receptionist who decides you are worthy of one, some go out there way to help, some are nasty and tell you to just call back at another time and there will be spaces free (never ever is) -Worst experience so far was a doctor telling me on the phone he would have me come in for a face to face appointment in the week, and that a nurse would call me the following day (never did) When calling up myself the day after I was told “there is an appointment at 12:45”, the time I was calling was 12:30, how is that in any way a reasonable thing to say, how on earth is that an appointment anyone could make. I was told there “may be no other slots available” and yet all it took was a 30 second hold on the phone and suddenly I had an appointment? The only way to use this doctors is to beg and barter to be seen, it is a disgrace and I am asking anyone who reads this to just save your time and go elsewhere. You can see from the other reviews others tell a very similar story so I am backed up there also.

One receptionist was snarky and even laughed at me at one point. Claimed there were no appointments until 8am the next day. Called back a couple of days later and had a different receptionist who was great and gave me a choice of 2 slots the very next day. The appointment system is terrible and so far 1 of 2 receptionists have been good.

Receptionist was really kind, understood what I was saying even when I couldn’t understand myself as I was quite anxious. Really easy to get an appointment, follow up was even easier to book. Edit: Went for my blood test today, and Mr Josh was the best. He really made me feel safe and well taken care of, and he really knew what he was doing. As someone who hates giving blood, I didn’t feel a thing today, and my veins are not easy to find. 10/10 experience. Really don’t understand all the bad reviews, seems like only those with bad experiences review the GP practice which is misleading

The doctors and nurses here are absolutely brilliant. However, it is impossible to get an appointment. You have to ring at 8am for an appointment in two weeks time. It's insane.

I don’t know if it’s the same receptionist each time, or whether they are different, but each time I have rung up this doctors, the receptionist is plainly and simply rude, no other way to put it. She almost seems annoyed that you’re trying to ring up and book in an appointment?

Worst phone line ever, usually takes 60+ attempts to get through when calling as soon as it opens, that's if it connects. And then the appointments are usually taken. Receptionists are quite often rude for no reason (just to add I am always polite and there's nothing I do that warrants such a reaction). An example of this is once I'd forgotten to order my meds in time, so I rang up and politely asked if an emergency prescription was possible only to be told that I am irresponsible for not doing it on time and that I am careless.

For making an appointment you should call the Center at 8 a.m. but they don’t answer (tried many times). Waiting time is very long. I was offered to wait for 3 weeks to make an ultrasound although I had hard pain in a stomach. I tried to use gp help for two months and got nothing. So I went to Russia for treatment.

DO NOT REGISTER HERE!! Honestly, I don’t know where they’ve got their degrees from but they are the worst most incompetent GPs I’ve ever seen. I’ve never even gotten any better from any of their advice, they don’t care. They google everything. Codeine and paracetamol, that’s all they know. Bunch of useless people UPDATE: I received a letter from the practice saying that will remove me because of this review. Miss Mooney, you’re right, every single person at the practice is qualified for the role but that’s about it. If your staff is so qualified why you have 2.1 stars, you have 2.1 stars!! such an embarrassment. Instead of removing people from the practice why not start doing something about your staff and ask them not to roll their eyes when they are asked something #missqualification

The staff on reception are generally rude, hostile, unhelpful and the 'culture' starts with the Practice/Admin Manager. I am formally complaining about my experience to the CQC and the NHS. The only person I have experienced at this practice who is helpful and professional is the Nurses and Dr Makepeace, however the reception staff and the Manager are lacking in any compassion, skill or professionalism. You can never get an appointment and they have never resolved this simple matter. It should be closed down.

I have always received good care from Newcastle medical centre since I moved to Newcastle in 1998, as a student. The reception staff are helpful and polite when talking with me. One of them is even a former student of mine. I feel the reviews of this service not representative.

I personally never had issues calling and arranging my appointment, I thought the receptionist was very friendly and helpful when booking an appointment. The only thing I don’t like about the surgery is the website functionality such as filling in contraceptive form with lack of relevant options and not getting a response, email also no response for 7 days, and not being able to access my full medical records on NHS App. However, as long as I got my appointment I am happy.

The medical staff are great but the policy is absolutely terrible to be told to ring in at 8am for an appointment, refused an appointment at any other time of day and then be repeatedly unable to get through to receptionists at 8am. No hold... Just line busy. Dozens of unanswered calls.

Really dissapointing. Receptionist is very rude, but only one of them. Huffs at you when you ask her for a different date, and she talks over you. Awful for a person with anxetity and dangerous for someone suffering with self harm. Despite these reviews and numerous complaints, the practice does not allow you to book as its 'too busy' unless same day, and most of those days they are gone by the time you keep ringing for a busy signal. It's like a feeding frenzy at a zoo. The medical staff are great, if you can ever get in. Ive been coming to this clinic since 2007, and its just gone downhill.

After reading some of the reviews about this practice I have been really pleasantly surprised with the service offered. I have called several times to make an appointment for my daughter, call waiting times are quite short, the receptionist is helpful and friendly and I have always been offered an appointment either on the same day or within a reasonable time. The care offered has been excellent and the doctors seem keen to get to the bottom of the underlying issue by making follow up appointments for different tests etc.

We have had an amazing experience so far, attentive and caring doctors, responsive admin team, appointments available when we need them. I highly recommend this surgery.

The GP I attended to was patient, lovely and considerate, explaining everything and answering all my questions. It’s also convenient for registering attendance.

Wow, out of all the 12 GPS, I've been registered in the UK this is is the best one. 👌 I really appreciate and enjoy the organisation culture. Very respectful and empathetic staff.

This is the worst GP here I have ever seen. I used to be a registered patient here and they refused to write a letter to show my registration history here. The staff in reception is very very rude women and did not listen to you. The doctor here was also not good , they do have very bad attitude to patients.

This surgery needs to re-think their booking system - it is awful. As the majority of the patients are students I worry that these vulnerable young adults are at high risk. The receptionist is not helpful - even though I begged for an immediate appointment but she would not budge. I was requesting an app as I urgently need blood tests as I am very weak and think I have severe anaemia again. They offered an appointment four days later - even though most students have returned home for the Christmas Holiday - it needed a that day app. Please do not register here - a total waste of your time - find some another better practice that will be more helpful as this is terrible. No stars!!

Very efficient service. Nearly always received an appointment or other solution every time I ring. I have also submitted an e consultation form twice and received a same day response from it, brilliant compared to other practices I’ve been with.

🫤 This medical practice is just terrible.
