Finally made it here after hearing great things, was not disappointed! We had lunch of 3 tacos and fries and an extra special taco with Octopus (which im told by my partner was delicious) will definitely be back soon and hopefully try out some of their exciting sounding cocktails too!

Went I for a light lunch. Amazing food, good prices too! Great for vegetarians and vegans also. Try their hot sauce made from blended scotch bonnet chillies!

Really good food, but very variable. We really enjoyed our first delivery order and got a mountain of nachos similar to what is shown in the restaurant pics. Today had been looking forward to having the same again, however my girlfriend ordered this time and nachos were at least half the size which was disappointing and put a dampener on the experience, plus was left hungry as we had accounted for the same size nachos

The best Mexican food I've tasted! I'll be returning for more. Nice, friendly staff make this a pleasant experience. EDIT: Visited Chucho's again after such a great experience here, but very disappointed. Rate would drop from an easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐ to a ⭐⭐. The building was uncomfortably cold (the waiting staff wore their coat, and even the chef had a coat on while preparing the food - not sure this would comply with Health & Safety regulations?). The staff were lovely, but the foo, although tasty, was not just tepid, but cold. I was planning to take family here after my previous positive experience, but will look for another Mexican restaurant after my experience today.

James Acaster said the haggis taco was the best taco he ever had, so I expected something epic. The menu is on their FB page or you have to scan a QR code on a wall when you get in... Starters were the gringa and loaded nachos with beef. Tacos; carnitas, haggis, Mexican chorizo, carne asana and camaron. Churros for dessert. The food came out super quickly but wasn’t very warm. There was so much onion and coriander on the tacos that I couldn’t taste much else. The service didn’t make me feel welcome and there weren’t enough nachos. It’s fine and wasn’t too bad price wise. I just wouldn’t come back for anything.

Hadn’t heard of this place before, went for lunch today before going rock climbing today. Feel like this is going to be my new favourite place to eat. Excellent service, great food and plenty to choose from! Would certainly recommend and will be returning. I got the Carnitas, Pescado and Verde tacos.

Visited Chucho's recently and was immediately seated. They had a great selection of Mexican drinks on their menu - highly recommended the Michelada. Between the two of us, we shared the nachos, 3 tacos and a burrito. We only had to ask once for everything to be adapted for vegan, which was ideal. The nachos were delecious and beautifully presented. The refried black beans and pico de gallio were amazing and the chips were homemade. We also had the cactus, fajita and blackbean/plantain taco. First off the taco shells were super authentic and delicious. The fajitas probably weren't my favourite but the other two were spot on. We shared the courgette and sweetcorn burrito which was filled to the brim and packed with flavour. The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was buzzing. All round great experience.

I'd been hoping to find a taco spot that rivals the taco's that I had at a small mexican establishment in Berlin 6 years ago (I wish I could recall the name) but had yet to find one until I visited this spot. I live in London and a lot of places can cook up great fillings, but rarely get the actual wraps right. I favour proper corn wraps, that are both soft, yet crisp, and Chucho's get this bang on. During my visit, I initially tried 3 taco's, the Chorizo, Haggis and Chicken. Pleasantly surprised, I had no choice but to try two more, the pork and the veggie option. I couldn't fault any of the five. Bear in mind that I've maybe left one review in my whole life, so for me to be bothered to type this all out says a lot. I'll be making my way back up to Newcastle to visit again soon, and will be bringing some mates.

Loved it! Simple yet tasty. Quick and satisfying. I would have liked choice of Mexican inspired drinks, that would have been the fith star for me.

We visited this place and fell in love instantly. This was at that awkward time between lunch and dinner and doesn’t qualify for neither and are very happy with the food. We have tried 3 vegetarian tacos and 2 veggie quesadillas. Staff is very kind and welcoming. Mock-tails are good. Will definitely visit again.

Great authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices, along with nice Mexican cocktails and beers. Simple cantina-style decor and friendly staff. The burritos were great, and the tacos too, but the latter were a little on the small side, you would need 5 or 6 to fill you up - although you could also fill up on the delicious chocolate platano desserts!

At first glance you'd think "meh, cute & quickly little Mexican restaurant, nothing I haven't seen before" until you try the food, wowzers!!! Absolutely awesome! Great food with lots of choices and loads of dips, super tasty!!! Highly recommend!! Staff were very friendly too👌🏻👊🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍

Service very good! For the food we have no words. Tacos were just amazing, me and my husband had 6 as we could not decide on just 3 and were amazing, great flavours(member of staff recommended them and was the best choice). The chorizo enchiladas melt in your mouth, amazing! And the burrito was full of meat, so tasty! A restaurant you can not miss! Price was good and totally worth it. Thank you ! Really amazing.

Loved the place, service was great. We had 6 tacos and they were all lovely, we especially liked the chicken doradas, the chorizo and the cactus. You can't get such good Mexican at this price everywhere you go, nothing was dry, everything had so much flavour. Thank you to all staff, we had a lovely meal. My husband had the yucatan g&t and we'd both recommend it to anybody, proper delicious. Was a bit cold in the restaurant but to be fair it was -2 that day. Might be worth a little floor heater for the winter months but didn't ruin our day at all!

Very disappointed! We used to go to the first shop around the corner however after experiencing not so good food a couple of times whilst they opened a new shop elsewhere in Newcastle we decided not to go back! A few of our friends have been on and on at us to try again since they have opened around the corner, they said the food is outstanding, fresh and full of flavour! Last night we placed an order for quite a lot of food to be able to try in the comfort of our own home. Order was running late however, we didn’t mind as we thought to ourselves it would be nice hot and fresh food. We live literally 5 minutes drive from the shop. By the time we got home and opened the food most of it was cold apart from the outside of the burritos! Rather than put the food in the microwave as suggested by the owner we decided just to tuck in and eat it as it was. Everything tasted the same, dry, no bang full of flavour we experienced when we first started to go! Everything was as bland as you could imagine and very dry! The burritos ended up in the bin because they where just very dry and tasteless! I wouldn’t usually leave comments about a business however, we spent a lot of money and were looking so forward to this meal. What a shame! So many good quality takeaway/restaurants start with good intentions then it becomes about the profit! £6 for 3 tacos when we first went now it’s £9/9.50/10. inflation I get but when your receiving less food and the quality has dropped massively then that inflation becomes a rip off! Also can I point out service charge in the UK is illegal, you can’t service charge for the use of debit or credit card however, 0.50p was added to an already pricey bill! I hope this is taken as constructive criticism and not as an attack on anyone, we honestly hope that the food will go back to when you first opened and love for your venture was still alive. Gary.

Best mexican food in Newcastle, all at very reasonable prices. Great cocktails and the place was full on a Tuesday night, which I think speaks to the quality of this place. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!

Super lovely food, however the room was cold, no hot drinks were available and quite a few items on the menu were unavailable. The tacos were lush though, so will be back despite the problems.

Amazing food, had 6 tacos between us and the nachos and churros and the best margarita I've ever had. Seemed to be understaffed when we went so service was a little slow, but that's never been too important to me.

Chuchos made the evening food for our wedding and we are so glad that they did! :) They were so relaxed and easy to work with throughout, and super adaptable to the location. The food was amazing, and they even made up several options, catering to all of the the dietary requirements of our guests. Cannot recommend them enough - great food and great people!

My favourite place for freshly made and delicious tacos! Quirky interior as well. The main waiter probably doesn't have a lot of facial expression but I guess he is just being professional. Shown the excited side of him when discussed a little about tacos. Very efficient service and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Best Tacos around, this is a hidden gem of a place. The service is good the prices are fair. Hands down beats allothe Mexican style chain restaurants. Looking forward to going back and trying something else. This would make a killing if it was situated closer to Newcastle Town centre.

I absolutely loved Chucho's. Good Mexican food is hard to find. We had loaded nachos and a mixture of pulled pork, chargrilled chicken, and beef tacos paired with classic margaritas on the rocks. The drinks could have been bigger but we're really good and a fair price. The food was soooo good. The owner and staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back. The restaurant was just down the street from Newcastle Shopping Park, so it's very convenient to stop for lunch or dinner when Shopping.

Amazing tacos! My boyfriend and I were in Mexico about 4 years ago and found an amazing tacos stall, this place took us right back! Amazingly tasty and very authentic. I will be recommending to everyone!

I tried this place on recommendation, and was not disappointed. First impressions - limited menu. Don't let that put you off. They are on chalk boards as you go in. They do a deal, 3 dishes for£8 which I would recommend. I went for the chorizo dish, the chicken and the haggis dishes. Wow, an explosion of flavours as you bite into them. My favourite was the haggis. They come in a tortilla with salad. Delicious does not do it justice. Top notch street food here, I know restaurant's that are not as good as this.

I’ve ate at Chuchos in excess of 100 times. Whether it be the Original Byker Location, the secondary Jesmond spot, or the recently opened Restaurant at the top of Shields Road Byker I have never left without being impressed. What appears to be an unassuming restaurant on the outside is a vehicle of discovery for some of most authentic and tasty Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. I’ve sampled the menu top to bottom and even had some creations and variations not included on the menu, and it’s safe to say it’s my favourite restaurant and one I’ll never tire of eating at. You eat in a laidback atmosphere and the service is second to none. You genuinely feel as if you’re eating at a family dinner table. This is a restaurant that deserves all the praise it has received so far with hopefully more to come in the future. The people I’ve introduced to Chuchos up and down the country have never left without being impressed and wanting more, that truly says a lot. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Mexico look no further, Chuchos is your perfect destination.

I had a lovely family party here on a Saturday afternoon in January 2020, celebrating a special event. There were 23 of us and we were all very hungry 😋😃 Chuchos reserved their Jesmond cafe for us and we had the MOST fabulous afternoon. We enjoyed every taco on their menu plus nachos, chips, churros... Everything was freshly cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Service was wonderful - such friendly and hospitable staff for whom nothing was a bother. It all just felt so comfortable and homely. We all loved it. And... it didnt break the bank. Can't recommend this place enough. If you have a discerning palate and enjoy being well looked after you won't be disappointed! ❤🇮🇹

Recommended this place by a friend, got ourselves 8 things to take away, staff were ready to help suggest what to have and If you wished you could sit with a beer while you wait. Added a few bits and bibs when we got home to bulk it all out and made a dinner of it, very tasty food!
