Parque do Barrocal

State park

👍👍 Great place to visit. The sound of the birds and natural feel to the place makes it a great place to walk and unwind. Free to visit, with a cafe too (although the cafe appears to be closed due to Covid.) Dogs on a leash are welcome.

A beautifully designed park with many little and big pockets - observation decks, wooden paths, terraces, bird watching point AND very abundant flora! Absolutely worth the visit! 💛 (plus completely for free:)

A place of ancient spirituality. Unfortunately with today's visiting crowds it's all gone. Happens everywhere, be it in cathedral of Chartres or more local the monastery of Alcobaça. No respect.

A great example of landscape architecture! The parque is located almost in the city center, has ample parking and great net of walking trails and viewpoints. There is also a children's park incorporated into the complex. The trails are carefully arranged amidst huge granite boulders.

A nice ride around the hills with some viewpoints to either the mountains or the city. Not advisable during peak sun hours.

Didn't expect to find such a wonderful space within the city limits. Free, and great for a dog walk ( our dogs didn't like the metal grids on some of the walkways). Fantastic views towards Spain and back up to the Castle. If it is hot weather, make sure you take some water with you.
