This place is amazing! Great food, attentive staff and many unexpected additional parts to make an enjoyable meal. If its a special occasion, want a treat and something different, this is the place to go! I would highly recommend the "beef" dish. This place is comparable to high end restaurants in London.

The team and especially Sven have made our evening magical. The courses they served were delicious and the wine was incredible. We got the table opposite of the kitchen and could watch the staff prepare the different courses. Sven and his team were very knowledgeable and left no question unanswered. I would give 10 stars if I could. Definitely worth experiencing! Thank you Al Quimia staff!

We decided to try out the tasting menu at Al Quimia in April 2021, and it was everything we could hope for. The restaurant is situated in the Epic Sana Hotel in Algarve and has an amazing atmosphere. The food was fantastic from start to finish. The whole experience started out with playful imitation food to tease and confuse your palate. The combination of sea food with rustic pork and tender cuts worked perfectly. And not to mention the chefs' creative ways combine salty, sour, sweet and umami flavours. Definitely recommend Al Quimia regardless if you taking the tasting menu or not. Just make sure you go with an empty stomach if you choose the full tasting menu! :)

Such a fabulous dinner. Prepare yourself for a 3 hour extravaganza of taste and beautifully prepared food, paired with some nice wines from 🇵🇹. It always our last night in Algarve and we could not close it better than here!

Two weeks ago I booked a table for my father's birthday and I must say I felt greatly looked after since I started exchanging emails with Sven. He was very responsive and available to help with my and some of the other guests dietary restrictions. We had three Captura and three Alcofa menus and the food was fantastic! Each course was beautifully presented and felt like a feast for the palate. The team was great and attentive during the service explaining each plate, plus we had few unexpected entrees whilst having our pre-dinner drinks. It was a very appreciated as well as the food being absolutely delicious! My dad was very happy and surprised by the food. We all had an amazing experience and we highly reccomend all to visit Al Quimia restaurant. Thank you for making our special night even more special! See you soon.

We were so pleased with our experience at Al Quimia. The tasting menus were fantastic and they catered exceptionally well for our gluten free diner who is especially susceptible due to coeliac disease. The wine suggestion was also excellent and everyone was very kind, speaking a mix of Spanish, English and Portuguese! The head chef and pastry chef also took the time to personally greet our table and explain some of the dishes. Everything was delicious and made to perfection - my partner even got a birthday cake with a candle - thank you so much Al Quimia for a beautiful evening!

I'll preface this review with a few pieces of information. I LOVE food. I cook a lot at home and am able to cook better meals than most restaurants, so when I go to high end restaurants, I have high expectations. I also grew up outside of NYC in CT and now live in Austin, TX for way more context than anyone reading this needs... Al Quierma was a wonderful experience for me. I dined solo and this was probably the fanciest meal I've ever bought myself just for me. Overall it was well worth the price and exceeded my expectations. The highlights of the evening for me were the sommelier, Hugo, and the local wines first and foremost. I loved ALL of the wine, but in particular, the rich local Viognier white wine paired with a turbot tasting with a luxuriant sauce that I'd cross the Atlantic ocean for, was simply, to die for. The desert white wine and the goat cheese ice cream was also a spectacular way to end an incredible evening. Highly recommend.

We had a very memorable evening with amazing service, incredibly delicious and creative food and wine pairing. Loved the views and calm atmosphere of the restaurant. Really enjoyed that outdoor tables were arranged in a way that gave privacy to the diners, but at the same time did not feel excluded from the restaurant.

My family came here after hearing about the Michelin star buzz for this place. As a not so serious person, I was perplexed when I asked them to substitute a few courses because of my food allergy and they said they couldn't accomodate substitutions because it didn't fit well with the narrative and story progression of their dishes. So they opted to just leave me out on a few courses...weird... But aside from that the food was generally tasty and creative.

Easily one of the best tasting menus we've ever had, including ones from multiple Michelin stars. The food and setting were amazing, the wine pairing was plentiful and the staff were so lovely and attentive. A special mention to Guilherme who was so friendly and refused to let us say thank you each time he brought us something 😄

This restaurant delivered a dinner experience way above my expectations. Top quality and new flavours all the way through the tasting menu called "Capture" (seafood). Expect the tasting menu to last about 3 hours. It might sound like a long time but the time sure flew by for us. Big thanks to the whole team that gave us a culinary experience out of the ordinary.

Great tasting menu. Food was very well thought out. Chefs were kind and catered to my allergy very well. Service was out of this world. Really went the extra mile on everything. The server even printed a personalized menu of our tasting menu with my name and the date for us to take home. Great experience. Worth the price

Having recently experienced an enchanting evening at Al Quimia in Algarve with my husband, we are left utterly captivated by the sheer excellence of this fine dining gem. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant, it was evident that we were in for a romantic dining journey. Nestled within the Epic Sana Hotel premises, Al Quimia boasts a breathtaking view that perfectly complements the culinary delights it offers. The stylish and sophisticated ambiance, coupled with the panoramic vistas, created an enchanting and intimate atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable romantic dining experience. The menu, an ode to the region's rich culinary heritage, is a symphony of flavors and textures that tantalized our taste buds with each course. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted to showcase the freshest local ingredients. The chef's skillful mastery of flavors ensured a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary elements, leaving us in awe of each culinary creation. The wine pairing was nothing short of perfection. The sommelier's expertise in selecting wines that complemented the flavors of each dish elevated the romantic dining experience to new heights. Each sip was a delightful revelation, and the thought put into pairing the wines with the food demonstrated a level of dedication that is truly commendable. While the food and wine were undoubtedly exceptional, what truly set Al Quimia apart was the impeccable service. From the moment we stepped in until the final farewell, the staff's attentiveness and warmth made us feel like honored guests on this romantic culinary journey. Their knowledge of the menu and genuine passion for the culinary arts added an extra layer of joy to the entire experience. They went above and beyond to ensure our romantic evening with my husband was flawless, making the night feel like a personalized and intimate dining affair. Al Quimia's dedication to providing an unforgettable dining experience was evident in every detail. The seamless choreography of service, the exquisite presentation of each dish, and the breathtaking ambiance all combined to create a magical and romantic atmosphere. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to indulge in a romantic culinary adventure, Al Quimia in Algarve is the perfect destination for an extraordinary dining experience with your loved one.

Excellent food - the seafood tasting menue with matching wines was marvelous. Excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Unfortunately, a very noisy group destroyed the whole ambiance. They would not even be lowering their voice after being reminded to behave.

A truly magical evening. An excellent experience which was made even more special, with the attentive and warm service of Sven and his team. My dietary needs were considered with attention to amending certain parts of the Capture discovery menu. I felt the presentation was particularly unique and special. I don’t normally take photos of my food but these dishes warrant a photo, due to the creativity and the plating/ crockery used. The flavours were fresh and drew inspiration from the Atlantic and Portuguese/ Algarvian classics. I feel that the location itself was perfect too. The design and settings are beautiful. Clean, warm and inviting we were given a very private table overlooking the gardens for our special occasion. At the end of the night as a small gesture, Sven presented me with a small note listing all of the items and wines we had experienced that evening which I will keep and look back on! Thank you all very much for a wonderful evening.

This is without doubt the best restaurant in the entire Algarve region. Chef Luis Mourão set the standard impossibly high when the restaurant first opened in 2013, and has managed to keep it there ever since by surrounding himself with a team of culinary wizards. A huge amount of thought has gone into the guest experience, from the freshness and ingenuity of every dish, to the quality of the wine sourced from small producers by the restaurant's talented Sommelier. The restaurant hosts extend a warm, genuine, welcome to their guests and manage to find the perfect balance of discreet professionalism, and attentive, friendly service. An evening at Al Quimia is an occasion in its own right, arrive hungry!

Having Portuguese parents, I have often come to Portugal and grown accustomed to Portuguese food. It was never something fancy like French and didn't have the heritage of Italian food. Fine dining experiences in Portugal can be had anywhere in the country. Some restaurants chose to use more classic methods with a French flair and some go all out and really try to define their tasting menus with a Portuguese flair - the latter risks becoming too fishy. Al Quimia, was over the top and presented a well balanced Portuguese dining experience. The food was beautiful, explosive and elegant, but had the flavors of the simple food I grew up with as a child. That's what made it special and something I was proud to share with my non Portuguese friends. Even better, the wine pairings featured beautiful Portuguese wines with a wide array of characteristics to compliment the entire meal. Lastly, it was so pretty and almost a shame to eat. The artistry of each dish, the dishware, stemware and even the flatware was well thought out and a masterpiece that all came together.

I've tried both the "fish" and the "meat" menu at two different dates, I liked everything with some preferences for "mushroom" and the Lobster. Both have been very creative. Great staff, excellent wine pairing with a lot of discovery for me. Thank you!

Not just a meal, but a whole experience! One of the best and tastiest dining experiences we've had. The creativity and experimental cuisine was exceptional and quality of dishes was nothing short of Michelin standard. Great service. Loved it!!

🫤 This place has the perfect location and ambience with a live DJ on certain days. 👍👍 I was shocked to see a rating of 4.7 stars across 1.9k reviews, thus decided to try it out. When I walked in I realised we were the only Indians, and so I thought to myself this may not be the most authentic! However, I wasn’t disappointed.
