A great place for a history lesson or 500 of them. So much history and knowledge. There's something for everyone. It is mainly for Swedish Air Force, but it is also navy. And planes and helicopters from all over. Counter espionage and the Cold war era. There's a cafe where you can get some cold or hot meals. "Burgers" Kids can play inside fighter jets and helicopters. But do notice that it is underground like 30-50m under. Soo if you don't like confined spaces maybe this is not for you. It is open and a lot of space down under. But i still got that panic feeling. But in all fairness it was worth it.

A fantastic museum! where you not only get educated, but many things can actually be touched and tried (both kids and adults). Don't forget to try the simulators. We only had two hours there, but we could have used much more time.

I searched for an interesting thing to do for the birthday of my son while travelling from Copenhagen to Oslo. We didn’t have high expectations and went in with little to no knowledge on what there was to see in the Aeroseum. We were very pleasantly surprised about the size of the collection, the variety and the depth of the information given. Even the location and its history was very interesting. There was a perfect balance between you-can-touch-this and you-can’t-touch-that, so people of all ages can enjoy this exhibition. And let’s be honest, who has never dreamed of sitting in a jet? It was great to roam around the place and get surprised with yet more interesting things at every turn. Not only are there aerospace-related items to see, but there is a whole hall dedicated to games and toys. And you can even make model planes, if you’re up for it. Even the bathrooms are worth a visit, since going there will make you pass through a hallway where there are other rooms to visit. And last but not least, the price for visiting is extremely reasonable. Apparently there is a section reserved for tickets that were bought in advance, so we recommend doing that. We wish we could have spent more time here, because we were nowhere near done seeing everything there is to see. All in all, we highly recommend visiting the Aeroseum!

This was an amazing experience for multiple reasons, even in the winter there is a lot to do. The price of admissions is 60kr for under 16 and 120kr for +16, this museum is meant for all ages from the children's section with games, to the more museum ish part where you get to sit in a few aircraft and helicopters. There is also a flight simulator part but it requires an extra payment, you can either pre book online which is of course cheaper or buy it in there which might cost a bit more. Overall this was a very fun experiece and I never knew how big fighter jets were before I came here!

Good place to visit if someone likes old jets and helicopters used by Swedish forces. It's an old hanger converted to a museum. The small section about spies is interesting. There is a small cafe inside where you buy fika and sandwiches at a reasonable price.

Aeroseum is a place where any age group can go watch and learn about different types of Fighter jet’s their history how they operate, Guides are brilliant and huge Respect to all the Soldiers/ Pilots/ Army you all are really the role models to each one of us as each and every aircraft that was in the aeroseum have it’s pride, honour and fighting spirit they are not just aircraft’s they are Beasts. It’s a different experience altogether. You gain good knowledge and learn lot of new things for sure, a must visit place for the people around Gothenburg, Sweden👍🏻

A really nice museum, it is interesting every moment there. Good information about the planes and helicopters inside the mountain. It's really cool being able to walk inside an old cold war era air base. They even had some helicopters that were airworthy. The staff were friendly. There is a decent gift shop.

Much bigger than I expected! Lots of old planes and choppers to look at and explore. There's a flight simulator (additional price), emergency lift you can ride, café and more. Some of the equipment and signs are outdated, incomplete or broken, but it doesn't inhibit the experience much at all. Strongly recommend a visit, especially if you're interested in various aircraft or warfare.

I would give more stars if I could. Woooonderful place, I spent 4 hours there and was fascinated every minute of it. This is a military museum so you will see huge fighter planes but also helicopters, hobby planes, learn about spy gear, step into sea escape rafts etc etc. You can step into some of the planes, try serious looking flight simulators and so on. There is a little about space, as well as fire fighting by air, atom bombs etc which even thou small, still all are educational and very interesting!! They have basically thought of everything and there is nothing amiss!!! I can come up with some ideas for addition but there’s really no need. Surpasses all my expectations! Practical: 140kr incl parking, There is a cafe as well as a place to eat your own food if you want, there are clean bathrooms (past some interesting rooms) and it’s also great for kids with both educational games and practical tests. LOVE!

This is one of the best places we visited in Sweden. The Aeroseum is an amazing underground hangar, previous airbase in the middle of a field out of nowhere. If you enjoy fighter aircraft, making the decision to come here is a great one. Be prepared to allow at least half a day to stay. After almost an hour by bus to get here we confusingly walked down the path to meet 2 c-130 bodies and then a little stall where you can buy tickets. Beyond that is the hill that the hangar is H I D I N G in. if you are interested, you can fly a JA37 flight simulator, a piper simulator and if you are lucky and the instructor is there, an A310 simulator, please contact before visiting to check out the simulator options. There is a small cafeteria inside. There is a small airport nearby: Säve airport. The airport has helicopters which from the outside you can view from atop the hill. If you are into food and fashion, but not planes this is a no-go.

One of the must visit place in Gothenburg is Aeroseum. Watching a fighter jet closely was my dream and to sit on it is even more pleasure. This place has loads of Jets, helicopter and gliders. Also they have simulators where you can actually fly the planes. My kids had blast and the don’t want to come out. It is located under a bunker so you get really a feeling of a defence personnel. Don’t worry if you are tired of your there is cafeteria and don’t forget to try Cinamon Bun it’s delicious. The place is bit remote so travelling is hassle you need to have a car or Taxi. There is a bus but in winter cold and snow avoid bus as it’s freezing.

A very interesting museum In unique historically important venue. You have to already have a passing interest in aviation to visit here, but they have done well to provide a number of hands on and interactive displays for children (both big and small), such as the working radios in the aircraft and tower etc which were very popular with all the children when we visited.

Very well organized museum home of Swedish Aviation. It is worth to see, visit. Aeroseum is a museum in Gothenburg that holds collections of historic aviation machines from the Cold War, as well as modern aircraft, helicopters, and other vehicles and machines. The hangar lies 30 meters below the ground and was originally built for Göta Flygflottilj (F9 – No. 9 Wing), at the Säve Airfield. The exhibitions in the Aeroseum include: The Cold War, Airborne police, Spies, The effect of flying on whooping cough, Construction of the underground hangar, Air defence in western Sweden, The Swedish Coastguard, Aviation communication, The Atom Bomb, Stasi, Jerker Berg and If war breaks out.

It was a really cool experience. We didn’t know what to expect but it was certainly not this. There was such a big range of helicopters, jets and you could even fly in a simulator if you wanted. (Tip buy the tickets for the simulator in advance cause there is a big change that all the time slots are taken).

Great aircraft and helicopter collection placed in a bunker. All examples of Swedish fighter aircraft from late forties up to modern times (Gripen 2nd prototype). Flight sim set up you can use for 150kr extra with partially functional cockpit is also a great thing to experience!

A surprising gem. A lot of cool cold war history as well as included or low cost hands on opportunities to interact with the exhibits. On the down side, many of exhibits are pretty beat up and missing significant parts of the aircraft. It's not the home of brilliantly restored aircraft so temper expectations.

This is wonderful! I've never seen my dad so enthusiastic about a museum! Really interesting look back into Sweden's air defences during the Cold War period. It's well layed out for families, with plenty of things dotted around for kids to try and aircraft to explore. For a little extra you can try your hand at one of their simulations (jet and helicopter included). There's a small gift shop area in the café which serves various types of quiche, hot dogs and hamburgers (no cheese or fries). Wonderful day of exploration and discovery for the whole family!

Very interesting museum. Good information about the airplanes, and the history of the museum when it was an underground air force base during the cold war. The cafe provides quite delicious soy sausage and chicken pie.

Really interesting cold war era aircraft museum. Plenty to do for the kids as well. Number 35 bus will get you there from the centre.

  • 5/5 Joel C. 2 years ago on Google
This place is fantastic for several reasons. The first being the fact that it's pretty much identical to how it was originally built by the Swedish Air Force, as a base to house 20 fighter. The second reason is that the museum has an extensive assortment of military and civilian aircraft, as well as military helicopters. The price of admission is right, there's plenty to look at (even during winter!), and unlike other aviation museums, they allow you to hop in the cockpit of a Draken and Viggen fighter. There is also plenty of child oriented activities that will keep them busy. The downsides to the museum is that like other reviewers have mentioned, it is off the beaten path from the nearest bus stop, and is treacherous in the winter with icy roads. Someone fell on the ice as I was walking in. Other than that, the gift shop's selection is quite limited in what they have to offer. Really wish there were some books in English on the history of the Swedish Air Force and Saab Aircraft.

Are you looking at reviews to see if you should go here? Stop questioning it and go! It was once used as an underground bunker during the cold war and you get to see this amazing piece of engineering in the flesh. You can sit in fighter jets and pretend you are in Top Gun, you can get in a space capsule and find out how uncomfortable that is for astraunauts! Heck, you can even search for secret cameras to find out if you're spy material and then when you are exhausted from all this fun, you can grab a coffee in the mess hall style cafeteria. Note: if you don't have a car, you can still get here on the 32 bus from the city centre and then it's a 10 minute walk to the entrance. Totally worth it!

Great place for kids and grown ups. Lots of military aircrafts to look at and also some to enter. They could work a bit on the café, and also they could put shelf's for toys to buy high enough for the youngest kids not to reach. We bought a toy helicopter for our son, and when we got home we realized the tail rotor was broken (not as fun to give him it after that). Lots of kids running around grabbing the toys and playing without the parents telling them off or buying them the toys. Anyway nice museum, half decent cafe.

A bit difficult to judge. A bit of a museum in historic grounds and a bit of a play ground for children. As a museum it is OK, the grounds deserv a 5 star rating but just OK condition of the aircraft on display takes it down a star for me. Add to that I came to visit a museum and away goes another star. In corona times families with children seem to struggle a bit with distancing. Add to that, that the noise level inescapable goes up a bit with youngster... I would recommend going here out of season if history and aircraft is your main purpose of coming here. I also miss more history of the place itself. But still more than worth a visit.
