Visited this place multiple times. The place is very near to Hebby More in Bankura district. One of the main workshop of the Dokra handicraft - Visit the art work cluster wise. It will take an hour to cover the entire area. They are very friendly... Photographers can make documentaries on the craft here as you can experience each & every step of making Dokra art here. Also you can buy some souvenirs for yourself / as gift for friends - relatives... Please support the art.. I will not say the craft is dying but the artists need you. Appreciation matters a lot ... We - Team Bengal Local - try to add this spot - Bikna - in each trip of Bankura ... We support local crafts of Bengal.

Bikna village is close to Bankura town. It is home to approximately 296 artisans practising the primitive Dokra art. Dokra is the art of melting figurines through the now near extinct metal casting technique. Dokra is characterised by primitive simplicity, rustic beauty, imaginative designs and patterns making it a coveted collector’s item. The Dokra has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag . Government of West Bengal's Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises & Textiles, in association with UNESCO, has developed the Rural Craft Hub in Bikna. The hub has a Folk Art Centre constructed by WBKVIB with accommodation facilities for guests with basic amenities. Visitors can plan a day trip to Bikna for a sneak peek into the lives of the artists and experiencing the craft making process and enjoy the master pieces at the Folk Art Centre. Visitors to Bikna may revel in the beauty of the Bishnupur Terracotta temples and Susunia Hills. One can also explore handloom and handicrafts of the nearby Kenjakura village. The sixth edition of their annual festival, the 'Dokra Mela' will be held in Bikna on November 6 - 8, 2020.

A place famous for its brass artifacts. Dhokra craft is made from non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. Dhokra craft technique has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still used. Different kinds of showpieces, idols, female ornaments like ear rings, bracelet etc are to be found. The things are really beautiful but priced at a little higher end as it is made of brass.

Bikna Dokra village, mainly famous for Dhokra craft is situated at a distance of 5km from Bankura Town on National Highway 14. Dhokra craft is made from non–ferrous metal casting using the lost-wax casting technique. Dhokra craft technique has been used in India for over 4,000 years and is still used. The dancing girl of Mohenjo-daro was the earliest evidence of Dhokra craft. I was there for photography purposes and after meeting with people I got to know the whole process of Dhokra craft. People of this village are cooperative and down to earth. They teach each and every thing in a very polite manner. The products are mainly related to Hindu goddess and festival and prices are genuine. Everyone visiting this place must buy some products to help these people who are traditionally putting lots of hard work to keep this craft technique alive. There are also museums which showcase historical travel of this craft technique. I had great and heart touching memories of this place Will visit again
