Excellent place and a historic heritage spot. The area of fort is large, hilly and beautiful. The view from the top most point is breath taking. Try to avoid visiting this place in Sunny Day because of the heat else keep umbrella, hat or water bottle to deal with it. Not recommended for elderly people/ people having heart issue to climb to the top of the Fort as the steps are not easy to take. Overall it was an amazing experience.

Embark on a grand exploration of Golconda Fort, one of the largest forts I've encountered. The sheer magnitude of this historical marvel demands around 3 hours for a thorough exploration. While guides await at the gate to unfold Golconda's rich history (for a fee), the real magic lies in witnessing the breathtaking architecture and stone walls, far more mesmerizing than the pages of history books. The fort's meticulous upkeep, coupled with convenient refreshment shops inside, ensures an enjoyable visit. The panoramic bird's-eye view from the top is nothing short of spectacular, offering a deep dive into history and culture. A small temple adds a touch of serenity to the experience. Make it a must-watch if you find yourself in Hyderabad, and don't miss the mesmerizing light show after dark. Immerse yourself in the charm of old-world architecture at Golconda, a sprawling site that warrants ample time for exploration. Capture picturesque moments at various vantage points, especially during the enchanting sunset from the fort's summit. The cityscape unfolds beneath, providing a stunning backdrop for photography enthusiasts. While the ascent may require some walking, the effort pays off with breathtaking views and numerous photo-worthy spots. Discover a small temple and strategically placed shops offering water, juices, and snacks, sparing you the need to carry provisions. This photogenic haven, however, comes with a plea: cherish the beauty, dispose of waste responsibly in the provided bins throughout the campus. Historical enthusiasts will find Golconda Fort a monumental gem, a colossal palace offering a panoramic view of Hyderabad. For those seeking more insights, guides are readily available, and the modest entry fee of Rs. 25 for adults makes it an accessible and enriching historical excursion. Overall, a captivating blend of history, culture, and scenic splendor awaits at this iconic fortress. ✨🏰👌

Golconda Fort is definitely a must-visit place when you are in Hyderabad which is 8 to 10km away from the main city. The entry ticket is 25₹ and you require at least 2 to 3 hours to explore the Fort completely. To understand the Fort and its history in detail you may hire a guide. The Fort and area are very well maintained but ruined by the so-called tourists by throw plastics everywhere. The Fort area is very big and requires hiking to reach the top, be enough hydrated and carry a water bottle along with you. The best time to visit is either morning or post 4 to avoid the sunburns. I love visiting the Forts as I feel the history in each and every corner of it. Inside the Fort, you will find many photogenic corners. Overall, it was an amazing adventurous experience visiting the Golconda Fort.

The better time to visit is after lunch around 3PM so that you can have some walk, and lot of places you need to cover and good lighting for taking photos. At starting you have big entrance after that one is place there, you can clap and listen the echo from it. It will be a good experience. Take some water or energy drinks because you need to go the top of the fort. Nice time pass for first time visit. Entrance fee is 25/- for adults and for 📷 also 25/-. #ExploreTheWorld🌍

A wonderful place to visit and explore, well-preserved and maintained by the Archeological Survey of India. This is the one place in Hyderabad, which will leave you spellbound. From the top of this fort, you can see the historic city of Hyderabad in all it's different colours. Experienced guides are available on payment, who can explain to you the various features and history of this magnificent fort. Strongly recommended to visit. 👍🏻

Nice place to visit if you are in Hyderabad. The evening light and sound show is under repair hence we couldn't watch it. This happens in evening 6:30. Make sure you check it's website before planning for this show. Fort is big and has good history. Make sure you either read book or better take a tourist guide along. There are places where even if you whisper the sound travels more than a kilometre. Very thoughtful how in history people actually used knowledge of science which we just read and never use. Simple concepts but executed in perfection. You do not have washrooms here. So take care.

Beautiful fort, in complete ruins and not been taken care of. Its a massive fort with broken, unknown history spread over 500-700 years. Its not been kept in a best shape as vandals have written their names across the fort. Entry ticket is way too less at Rs.25. The management should charge higher amount and keep the fort in a good shape and preserve history.Must take children for educational trip to know more about Telangana . A lot of climb young children may need assistance. Maintenance is good but water points and washroom don't work. Spread out so wear comfortable footwear and breezy clothes . Avoid weekends and day trip. Go in the evenings to enjoy light and sound show. There is a temple too.It was a good hike up to the top but well worth it. It is a historic place with quite a few stairs but good.

Beautiful fort! Might be good to read up on the history before or you can take a guide too but it’s better if you explore it yourself. The view from the top is amazing but the stairs are quite the journey. Don’t forget cap, water and sun protection.

It's a nice place to experience the old architecture. It's big and will take some time to explore completely. It has some good points where you can get good pictures clicked. You will have to walk a lot if you want to get to the top and witness the beautiful sunset. We made it on time and witnessed the sunset. The view is amazing. You can see the city from there. It has multiple spots to get some good pictures clicked. It also has a temple which you can visit. You can find shops selling water, juices and snacks at some dedicated points so no need to carry anything. A very photogenic place just don't litter there, put stuff in the bins which you'll find multiple places within the campus.

The story of Golconda Fort is the story of Hyderabad, the prequel, the beginnings of what is today an ever growing city with global impact. Let’s rewind the clock a few hundred years, to the 12th century AD, when the Shepard’s Hill (Golla-Konda) was first fortified by the Kakatiya Dynasty. Built on a granite hill, the first structures were made of mud and predictably didn’t hold too well against invasion. By 1364, the fort had changed hands, so to speak, from the Kakatiyas to the Munusuri Nayaks, to the Bahamani Sultans. Breaking away from the Bahamani Sultanate, Sultan Quli Qutb-ul-Mulk quickly established the Qutb Shahi dynasty, soon restrengthening and expanding the structure into the granite fort we see today. Fast-forward a century, to the year 1687, after eight years of being under siege by the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb, the fort fell to the Mughal Empire. Golconda’s outer wall encompasses 11 kilometres, with each successive ruling dynasty adding to the architecture of the fort. There are four forts, a number of temples, mosques, stables, royal apartments, bastions, gardens — the works. Entry into the fort is guarded by spiked gates, the 15 to 18 feet high walls deterring the most determined of diamond burglars. Speaking of much-coveted rocks, the Daria-i-Noor, Koh-i-Noor, and Hope Diamond are believed to have been unearthed at the Golconda Mines. While the mines may be inaccessible today, a really fun feature of Golconda you can still witness first hand is the acoustic design. From the Bala Hisar pavilion, at the apex of the hill, you can clearly hear handclaps at the entrance of the fort (a warning signal in case of invasion). Nearby heritage sites include the Qutub Shahi Tombs and Taramati Baradari (a royal music hall), where you can catch the occasional classical music concert. Timing: 9 am - 5:30 pm Cost: INR 15 per person, INR 25 for still camera Pro-Tip We recommend watching the Sound and Light show, held regularly at the fort for a dazzling crash-course into the history of Golconda, narrated by the inimitable Amitabh Bachchan. Slip into a food-coma as you bite into a Sheermal — a sweet flatbread, and a Hyderabadi favourite — paired with local kebabs from the area, at several eateries dotted outside the fort. Long recommendation short — go here for a fascinating trip into the past. Go here for the architecture, the acoustics, and the food. Go here to witness the crown jewel of Golconda, the most valuable treasure of all — harmony. Love thy neighbour!

A good place to visit in Hyderabad but you will not find anything special here. I liked the beauty of the place but that was the only thing I like. It's a tourist destination as it's one of a historic place in India. You can sit in the garden and can enjoy with your family but if you are thinking of doing something that should have excitement then this place is not for you. You can come here and can enjoy the nature and can feel the real atmosphere of the place.

A really nice place to spend an evening. A magnificent fort which is a part of Hyderabad history. The greenary starting from the entrance is beautiful. You have to climb a lot of stairs to reach the top. But the view from the top with the breeze is amazing. To get the entry ticket use the QR code or the link given in the photo. Ticket cost is only 20 rs. Get the ticket in the morning itself and go there. Lot of people claiming as guides will book the tickets for selling in black as only limited entries are possible per day (2000 as told by the people there, not sure). Then they will tell they will take you with guide and demands 1000 rs. No tickets were available when we went there and these people were asking excess money. Then around 5pm they gave us these booked tickets for 30 rs. So book in advance and enjoy the place. Otherwise you will get disappointed for not able to enter or have to get tickets from these people for excess charge

It is have executive class @Rs.140 and normal class @Rs. 80. But not much difference. Can go for normal class. The show can be improved with some pictures shows. Overall okay.

Wow what an ancient fort to come to in India, absolutely full of rich history. I highly recommend to come and take a guide tour with more information. This is the tallest point in the entire Hyderabad so it's well worth coming bring good shoes. Don't miss the light show projected on the entire fort at 630pm this is not to be missed.

Great place to visit when the weather is not too hot. We saw a bunch of school kids do a field trip. Be prepared to walk a lot and climb a lot of stairs(climbing is optional) . Having a guide helped understand the story behind the fort. Visitors to Hyderabad can add this to one of the must see places... make sure you have a guide to know the historic stories behind. Getting the entry tickets was a bit messy.

Wonderful historical place to visit. Highly recommended to hire a guide. It just costs Rs 1000. The guide will show you the best sights and explain the significance of each area. We spent around 3 hours there tho the tour is just for 2 hours.

The fort is situated on a granite hill, the inner fort contains palaces, and mosques and there is a hill top pavilion. Most of these palaces and mosques are in ruins now, but still depict the magnificence of this place. If you are in Hyderabad, then you mustn't miss this place. There is a light and sound show in the evening. You can take the light and sound show tickets at around 5.30 PM. Paid parking is available, and parking fee is Rs. 50/-. Entry fee for this fort is Rs. 25/- per head and free for children. Also they only take cash for tickets, UPI or card payment not available, also they expect exact ticket amount, so one need to carry exact change.

Among the biggest forts I've ever seen. Because of its immense size, an in-depth look should take two to three hours. More captivating than the pages of history books, Golconda's stunning architecture and stone walls are what really enchant visitors, even if guides are available at the entrance to share the rich history of the resort (for a price). Convenient refreshment outlets inside the fort, together with its thorough preservation, guarantee a fun stay. The sweeping, bird's-eye view that is visible from the summit is quite amazing. Even though the ascent may need some walking, the effort is worthwhile because there are many photogenic locations and amazing vistas. Find a modest temple and well-placed stores that provide water, drinks, and snacks so you won't need to bring food. Just remember not to trash there and instead drop the stuff in the bins that are located across the campus. Pros: UPI payment facility just by scanning the QR code, small tuck stores, entry fee (adult - 25 and kid-10), restrooms. Cons: i dont find anything.

Golconda Fort is located in the western part of Hyderabad city and is about 9 km from the Hussain Sagar Lake. It was originally known as Mankal, and built on a hilltop in the year 1143.The inner fort contains ruins of palaces, mosques and a hill top pavilion, which rises about 130 meters high and gives a bird’s eye view of other buildings. It was initially called Shepherd’s Hill, meaning Golla Konda in Telugu. It has mounted cannons, four drawbridges, eight gateways, and majestic halls, magazines, stables etc. The outermost enclosure is called Fateh Darwaza meaning Victory gate, after Aurangzeb’s army marched successfully through this gate. At Fateh Darwaza one can witness fantastic acoustical effects, which is one among the many famous engineering marvels at Golconda. it is always neatly maintained but its the tourist who makes the place dirty.

The Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad is a Heritage site. It preserves the history of Telangana and is a gorgeous place to soak in the spirits of the past. The fort is very well maintained. You could spend a sweet afternoon with family here or even plan a trek up the fort. Come in sports shoes, a hat, shades and your own water. Please do not buy plastic bottles and throw them in the premises. I wish people were more respectful towards the past. Let the fort remain beautiful and let people maintain its eternal importance and beauty.

This is one of the historic places in India. Entry fee is reasonable. It is bit difficult to reach the top. But the view from the top is amazing. The fort is well maintained. But people those who visit the fort need to be little more responsible. One can spend atleast 3 hours here. People are there to guide you if you want to know about the fort better. The way they have built the fort is just unbelievable.

Majestic! The Golconda Fort is home to as many conspiracy theories as is possible in one tourist location. From whispering buildings to secret underground tunnels leading all the way to Warangal, this fort has everything to offer in the form of stories. Be sure to walk all the way up to the Raj darbar on the top of the hill if you want a spectacular view of the city. I would recommend to visit this fort and not to forget hiring a Guide. This fort is a peculiar construction built with unique Light & Sound techniques which only a guide will be able to demonstrate you Live. Without a guide it is just a simple unmaintained monument. Hiring a Guide would cost you 750/- INR but you can bargain and hire at 600/- INR. Only after experiencing the Light & Sound effects of the fort, you will understand why am i stressing to hire a guide. Parking is abundant, but on the street next to the fort walls (no covered or designated parking area). Try reaching as early as possible (check timings on Google) to avoid trudging along under the sun for too long. Keep yourself hydrated throughout, as it involves a lot of walking and trekking. Be sure to click as many pictures as you can. One doesn't get the chance to visit Golconda that often.

think the best time to visit this place is around 4.30pm whence you can stroll through the place in the evening sun and will also get time to capture pictures while you are going up the fort. It is beautiful to see the setting sun from the highest point in the place. There's no need to take a guide if you have the background knowledge about the place as they are going to describe only the significance of the various spots on the way.we can beautiful sunset and it's a historical place.... #entry fee 20 # parking available

It was my second visit to Golconda Fort. In my first visit I was a child and after so long visited with one of my best friend. Had a pleasant time enjoying the great landscapes and ruins of the fort. It has to be taken care and lot of improvement to be made to last long for generations to come.

Good place for a few hours outing. Bring water with you else it will be hard to find on the way up. Most of the areas are well maintained. Parking and wheelchair access is there but not ideal for wheelchair use. Great view of the city from the top. Go during the afternoon for better pictures. Though morning and noon will be less crowded.

This fort is clean but not well maintained compared to other forts. It's ruins do tell you about it's 800 Yrs old history. Very crowded on weekends, people here dont usually come for its historical significance but for photo session and fun. As such fort also doesn't has much architectural genius apart from one or two places where echo and sound technology have been marvelously applied. You can book online on ASI website. Guide service is available. Overall an okay place to visit!

Built strong to last long: A worth visit to go back to History Well, It would amaze you how the fort still stands tall eve now, being on and around the Hill. First thing to mention here is plan to visit during morning time 9 or may be later in the afternoon, Sun Resting hours. If you follow the map and instructions given inside, you will have a smoother and less tiring visit. Don't just follow the crowd going in any direction. (Take right after entering, less steeper ) As you go to the top, you would witness the populated city and how even the fort premises is also now populated. (Because the fort does not have only one boundary wall, but multiple ones, observe it from top) A good archaeology and historical site, if you read about it before you go, you will enjoy your experience more :)

A very well maintained piece of architecture. Built over a 1000 years ago, Golconda Fort stands straight as one of the best attractions in Hyderabad. Not very crowded throughout the day, but would recommend going either early morning or during the evening. There’s an entry fee of ₹25 for Indians and ₹300 for Non Indians. It’s a light trek to the top of the fort, and the view on the top is mesmerising.

The historical fort is most attractive place for tourists. It take me one and half hours to see the full fort. If you eager to understand the history, it's better to take a guide because most of the locations are deteriorated due to weather. The guide will explain every location on the spot. 1. Ticket price is 25/- rupees for adults. 2. Wheelchair accessibility is allowed till the starting point of the hill. 3. After reaching the top of the fort, you will see magnificent view of the city.

A must visit place to visit due to its historical significance. You should visit the fort in day time and avoid entering it after 4pm as the fort closes at 5.30pm in the evening. You will need around 2 to 3 hours and keep some food handy with you, you will not get anything except drinking water at the fort. It is recommended to visit during the second half of the day and then continue with a sound and light show at the fort to know its rich cultural history.

Golconda fort is one among the World heritage site by the UNESCO. Which is build early centuries. The origin of world famous diamond 💎 Kohinoor is non other than the Golconda. There is plenty of monuments inside the fort to learn the history of early Hyderabad. The fort consists a Durga Devi temple a structure of mosque and an auditorium from where the best part of Hyderabad city is visible. Visit here before noon so that you can capture the fort effortlessly. Help of a guide will be so greatful to know the entire history of Fort and to feel whatever you see inside it.

A stronghold that ages nearly 9 centuries which once housed the Koh-i-Noor diamond. A magnificent fort built in the most modern strategic architecture at that time. Still holds many technical features which are hard to sort out even now. Make sure to check out the whispering wall and the clapping point at the gate to understand more. Try to get to the top Mahal before 6pm after which entry is forbidden. There is a light and sound show after dark with 3D surround system narrating the history of the Golconda Fort. The entry is 15 Rupees each for adults while 200 for foreign nationals. The light show charges are extra.

Wonderful place. Can't be much excited to share my experience. Marvels of architecture since you enter the fort. Logical engineering. It's said the water to the fort was only deemed fit for drinking if the Arabian horses drank it (It's said horses don't drink contaminated water). There's a dead weight of around 250kg. It's said the bodyguards were appointed only after them lifting these weights. A must go place for photographers. Historically important and marvelous architecture. Hats off.

Very beautiful historical fort. One could see the whole city of Hyderabad from the top and it's the great experience you have ever had. There are also a hanuman temple ,where you can see these time people respect every religion. You can enjoy this amazing palace in winter because if you want to go to the top of the fort, you have to walk a lot in the scorching heat .

REMEMBER TO CARRY AN UMBRELLA OR A HAT WITH YOU Beautiful historical monument . Big fort to be watched . The view from the top of the fort is spectacular. Climbing up is a bit hard for the elderly people . I will suggest the mornings and evenings are the best time to explore this place . Most of the fort protection walls are intact even now . Parking and the entrance are always crowded. Less number of shops are nearby . Remember to carry an umbrella or a hat with you while visiting this monument . At the top of the fort a small icecream shop is there . Sitting under the neem trees of the top floor while the blazing hot sun is up there is so satisfying .

Golconda Fort is one of the must visit place even if you're planning for a one day trip to Hyderabad. Fort offers an amazing view of the entire Hyderabad City upon reaching the top. Make sure that you carry an umbrella or a hat to protect you from the heat. You could get packaged mineral water from the topmost point of the fort at a slightly higher price than in the market.

Nice place if you are looking for a good view and beginners level trek. Can take your family and kids too. Tickets are fairly priced. For a better view and a soothing breeze try to get to the top where there is a tomb-like structure. The stairs are a bit stiff so be careful of the climbing.

NOTE: 1. Entry fee 2. No washrooms 3. No wheelchair facility 4. Lack of Security 5. Umbrella preferable at Sunny or Rainy days 6. Follow the pavements 7. Don't throw plastic covers 8. Lazer show only Evenings 9. Evening visits are best 👌 10. Only Stones nothing great attention Excellent place and a historic heritage spot.

It's one of the places to visit in Hyderabad. Can spend 2-3 hours easily. No need to do tracking because there are stairs throughout the fort but would suggest to wear comfortable clothes,And the view from the top of the fort is amazing. Only cash was accepted for entry tickets, 25/- per person and kids have free entry. Also shops inside the fort accept cash only as there's very little network. Note. Not enough parking space available for four wheelers.

One of the few very well maintained forts in South India. If you plan to visit the full fort, it will take around 2 hours. Built from the foot to the top of the hill, The fort is very well built and has various sections. There are multiple water ponds inside which shows that large planning was done to ensure the fort is self sufficient. Its a very photogenic location. Highly recommended if you are visiting Hyderabad.

Golconda Fort, also known as Golkonda (Telugu: "shepherds' hill"), is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c. 1512–1687), located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Because of the vicinity of diamond mines, especially Kollur Mine, Golconda flourished as a trade centre of large diamonds, known as the Golconda Diamonds. The region has produced some of the world's most famous diamonds, including the colourless Koh-i-Noor (now owned by the United Kingdom), the blue Hope (United States), the pink Daria-i-Noor (Iran), the white Regent (France), the Dresden Green (Germany), and the colourless Orlov (Russia), Nizam and Jacob (India), as well as the now lost diamonds Florentine Yellow, Akbar Shah and Great Mogul.

A Night to Remember at Golconda Fort I recently had the pleasure of visiting Golconda Fort and was left utterly mesmerized, particularly by the breathtaking night view from the summit. Although my time was limited due to a looming flight, the experience was nothing short of magical. The ascent to the top of Golconda Fort was an adventure in itself, with its ancient architecture and historical significance adding an extra layer of charm. As I reached the pinnacle, the panoramic view of the city lights below was nothing short of spectacular. The fort's strategic location provided an unobstructed view of the cityscape, illuminated against the night sky. The well-preserved ruins and the imposing structures created a captivating ambiance. The play of lights on the historic walls and bastions enhanced the mystique of this centuries-old fort. I couldn't help but marvel at the architectural brilliance that stood as a testament to the rich history of the region. Despite the limited time, I was able to soak in the beauty of the surroundings and capture some unforgettable moments. The cool breeze and the serenity at the top added to the overall experience, creating a sense of tranquility amidst the historical grandeur. While I regretted not being able to explore every nook and cranny of Golconda Fort, the night view alone made the visit worthwhile. It left me yearning for more, and I can only imagine the enchantment that a more extended stay would offer. For anyone with a love for history, culture, and panoramic vistas, Golconda Fort is a must-visit destination. In conclusion, my brief encounter with Golconda Fort left an indelible mark on my memory. The night view is an absolute highlight, and I can only hope to return one day to explore its wonders more thoroughly.

Having visited Golconda Fort myself, I was mesmerized by its sheer magnitude and historical significance. The intricate architecture, coupled with the breathtaking views from the summit, made it a truly unforgettable experience. However, be prepared for a fair amount of walking and climbing, as the fort is expansive and requires some effort to explore fully. Overall, Golconda Fort is a must-visit destination for anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of Hyderabad's past.

Visiting Golconda Fort was a truly enriching experience. The sheer magnitude of history within its walls is awe-inspiring. Exploring the intricate architecture, the whispering galleries, and the panoramic views from the top transported me back in time. The guides were knowledgeable and added depth to the experience. The only downside was the lack of proper maintenance in some areas. Nonetheless, it's a must-visit for history buffs and anyone seeking a glimpse into Hyderabad's rich past.

Golconda fort near Hyderabad, is one of the most magnificent forts in India. It is famous for many engineering and architectural marvels. But most astonishing is dome near the entrance to the fort. If one claps at a particular point under the dome, echoes are heard in the Durbar hall, the highest point of the fort about a kilometre away . This was devised as a warning system.

Loved the place. For anyone who's intrigued about historical sites and ancient history, this place is a must visit. The most important part is to find a reliable tour guide; some may try to dupe you by demanding a lot of money but bargaining is key. Once done, the entire towr goes smoothly. The entire tour is about 45 minutes long with photo sessions in between. Loved the architecture and the story behind every pillar in the Golconda Fort:) Sameer@hmbr

Golconda was originally known as Mankal.[1] Golconda Fort was first built by the Kakatiyas as part of their western defenses along the lines of the Kondapalli Fort. The city and the fortress were built on a granite hill that is 120 meters (390 ft) high, surrounded by massive battlements. The fort was rebuilt and strengthened by Rani Rudrama Devi and her successor Prataparudra.[2][3] Later, the fort came under the control of the Musunuri Nayakas, who defeated the Tughlaqi army occupying Warangal.[4] It was ceded by Musunuri Kapaya Nayaka to the Bahmani Sultanate as part of a treaty in 1364.[5][6] Under the Bahmani Sultanate, Golconda slowly rose to prominence. Sultan Quli Qutb-ul-Mulk (r. 1487–1543), sent by the Bahmanids as a governor at Golconda, established the city as the seat of his government around 1501. Bahmani rule gradually weakened during this period, and Sultan Quli formally became independent in 1538, establishing the Qutb Shahi dynasty based in Golconda.[7][8] Over a period of 62 years, the mud fort was expanded by the first three Qutb Shahi sultans into the present structure, a massive fortification of granite extending around 5 km (3.1 mi) in circumference. It remained the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty until 1590 when the capital was shifted to Hyderabad. The Qutb Shahis expanded the fort, whose 7 km (4.3 mi) outer wall enclosed the city. During the early seventeenth century a strong cotton-weaving industry existed in Golconda. Large quantities of cotton were produced for domestic and exports consumption. High quality plain or patterned cloth made of muslin and calico was produced. Plain cloth was available as white or brown colour, in bleached or dyed variety. Exports of this cloth was to Persia and European countries. Patterned cloth was made of prints which were made indigenously with indigo for blue, chay-root for red coloured prints and vegetable yellow. Patterned cloth exports were mainly to Java, Sumatra and other eastern countries.[9] The fort finally fell into ruin in 1687, after an eight-month-long siege led to its fall at the hands of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.[10]

Golconda Fort is located in the western part of Hyderabad city and is about 9 km from the Hussain Sagar Lake. The outer fort occupies an area of three square kilometers, which is 4.8 kilometers in length. It was originally known as Mankal, and built on a hilltop in the year 1143. It was originally a mud fort under the reign of Rajah of Warangal. Later it was fortified between 14th and 17th centuries by the Bahmani Sultans and then the ruling Qutub Shahi dynasty. Golconda was the principal capital of the Qutub Shahi kings. The inner fort contains ruins of palaces, mosques and a hill top pavilion, which rises about 130 meters high and gives a bird’s eye view of other buildings. Golconda fort is undoubtedly one of most magnificent fortress complexes in India. The history of Golconda Fort goes back to early 13th century, when it was ruled by the Kakatiya’s followed by Qutub Shahi kings, who ruled the region in 16th and 17th century. The fortress rests on a granite hill 120 meters high while huge crenellated ramparts surround this structure. It was initially called Shepherd’s Hill, meaning Golla Konda in Telugu while according to legend, on this rocky hill a shepherd boy had come across an idol and the information was conveyed to the ruling Kakatiya king at that time. The king constructed a mud fort around this holy spot and after 200 years, Bahamani rulers took possession of the place. Later the Qutub Shahi kings converted this into massive granite fort extending 5km in circumference. The fort is considered a mute witness to historic events. The Qutub Shahis reign at Golconda ended in 1687 when it was run over by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, who intentionally left it in ruins Golconda still boasts of mounted cannons, four drawbridges, eight gateways, and majestic halls, magazines, stables etc. The outermost enclosure is called Fateh Darwaza meaning Victory gate, after Aurangzeb’s army marched successfully through this gate. At Fateh Darwaza one can witness fantastic acoustical effects, which is one among the many famous engineering marvels at Golconda. Clapping your hand at a certain point near the dome entrance reverberates which is heard clearly at the hill top pavilion, almost one kilometer away. This served as a warning note to the inhabitants of the fort of any impending danger, Ofcourse it now amuses visitors. The fort gains an impressive place among the architectural marvels and heritage structures of India and is a testimony to Hyderabad’s glorious past.

Golconda Fort stands as an imposing historical monument, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's rich past. The sprawling structure is impressive, but it's evident that maintenance is needed to preserve its grandeur. Plan for about 1.5 hours to explore the fort's various sections and take in the breathtaking views it offers. While the fort is captivating, visitors might find it challenging to navigate without a guide as the historical significance and stories behind the fort truly add value to the visit. Overall, it's a must-see for history enthusiasts despite the need for maintenance.

I had a great experience at Golconda Fort! It's a must-visit for anyone interested in Hyderabad's history. However, I noticed that some areas could use a bit of cleaning. Overall, a fascinating historical site worth exploring.

The fort depicts very nice architecture of primitive rock cutting methods and it's implementation. The entry of the fort is designed with a rockcut based echo alarming system which was used to prevent attacks on the fort. The steps of the stairs of the fort are a bit steep hence make sure you have enough water and good shoes to climb the same.On the way to the fort you will encounter a lot of red headed parrots and other birds. The sunset point is also quite amazing. It gives you a absolute mesmerizing 360 view of the entire Hyderabad City.

If you're looking for a historical weekend getaway to enjoy with family and friends, Golconda fort is the best place to visit. Ensure you have your walking shoes and caps on as you might have to deal with crazy sunlight plus walking! Keep a few water bottles and snacks ready. You can buy the tickets at the counter. Go ahead and explore the beautiful architecture and history of Golconda! (I would suggest reading a bit on Golconda beforehand for a better experience)

A breath taking historical place. Don't wear slippery slipper. I recommend you to reach there by 4pm. So that you will not drain much in sun. Gear up with water bottles, snacks, sun glasses and phone to take snaps. Total time taken 2-3 hours. Many photo points are there while climbing up the steps. Astonishing view and entire Hyderabad City view after reaching the top.

Fort is ancient, beautiful & huge. Inside the fort it's a long walk uphill so wear comfortable sneakers. One of the highest points to see the city from the fort. Nearby market is not good for food so bring your own food if possible.

One of the very important place to visit in Hyderabad. Had a very good time there. Visiting in morning or evening is good. You can't climb up and reach the fort in noon timings because of the temperature. Plastic banned area so better to don't use plastics there. Canteen is there so you can get snacks and drinks.

Who doesn't like to see historical places once! This place is awesome and huge. A lot of things to explore about history. To cover whole fort nicely it's takes around whole day so plan accordingly. There are so many places which doesn't have a proper road to go but still by taking some risk you can discover and enjoy those top picks. Rain at the fort top is beautiful. Kali maa temple is plus attractions on the fort. At evening time they make light show inside the fort which is paid, so you can enjoy that. Restaurant, cab, auto, bus most of the facilities are available down the fort so no problem with anything and anytime (10am-6pm).

The fort's upkeep was terrific. I would highly recommend going to the top of the fort as the view is magnificent. One thing that I loved was the initiative taken by the authorities where each plastic item is marked and on return you show them and get your money back. Quite innovative to keep the fort free from littering. Kudos to them. The fort is good but seems to very tiring we went to the top and was very tired.Worth visiting once. Golconda Fort is one of the prime tourist attractions in Hyderabad and we had visited the same during our sightseeing in Hyderabad. Entrance tickets are priced at 25 rupees per person. The Fort area is vast and one can climb steep steps to reach the top which offers amazing views of entire Hyderabad city. It was a hot day and we had a tough time reaching the top but it was worth the effort. There is a cafeteria within the Fort premises.

Golconda Fort Hyderabad is an outstanding example of brilliant engineering and magical architecture. Located at a distance of 11km from the city, it is the most famous of all Hyderabad tourist places. The name of the fort has been derived from the Telugu words "Golla" and "Konda" which together means 'Shepherd's Hill'. However, do keep in mind the Golconda Fort timings and entry fee before planning a visit to this regal symbol of history. For instance, Golconda fort timings are from 9 am to 5.30 pm. After that, visitors are not allowed to enter the fort, unless they are going for the light and show at night. Hence, to explore the beauty of this place at leisure, plan you visit early in the day.

A historical place as we all know, Golconda is one of the finest tourist spots of Hyderabad. It covers a vast area on one side and on the other it is tall enough to have a marvelous view of the entire city touching the horizons and beyond. The architecture is awe- striking. It is beautifully looked after by the Government, I must add. The entry fee as of February 2019 was Rs. 80 per person. So, if you are a person who loves to explore historical places, this ought to be a sure spot on your bucket list.

the Golconda fort came into the possession of the Bahmani dynasty. Still later, the Qutub Shahi dynasty took over and made Golconda its capital. Golconda fort owes much of its present grandeur to Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah. The subsequent generations saw Golconda being fortified further with several additions and the formation of a beautiful city within. By the 17th century, Golconda was famous as a diamond market. It gave the world some of the best-known diamonds, including the 'Kohinoor'. The meticulous details of the architecture and the fading gardens, which were once upon a time replete with sprawling lawns and playing fountains has the power to transport you back in time. The magnificent architecture of the Golconda fort is as imposing as ever, and this is evident from the colossal gate at the entrance studded with long iron spikes, to deter invading armies from battering it down. The gate leads to the portico known as the Balahisar gate, magnificent as the gate itself. One can't help, but be amazed at the modern acoustic system, which was so designed that a handclap sounded at the Balahisar gate of the fort could be heard right up in the citadel! The brilliant planning of the architects is evident from the ventilation, which is so designed to let in bouts of fresh cool breeze, a respite from the scorching humid summer of Andhra Pradesh! Also worth having a look at is the royal Nagina Gardens, the bodyguards' barracks, and the three water tanks, all of 12 metres deep, which once formed part of an intricate water system in the fort. The crowning glory of the fort is the durbar hall, which stands atop a hill overlooking the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is approached by a thousand-step stairway, and if you can summon up the energy to accomplish the climb, you will be rewarded with a great view of the cities below- including (on a clear day) the famous Charminar itself. Outside the Golconda fort are two separate pavilions built on a rocky eminence called the Taramathi Gana Mandir and the Premathi Nritya Mandir, where the legendary sisters Taramathi and Premamathi lived. They gave their performance on a circular dais atop a two-storied structure called the Kala Mandir, which was visible from the king's durbar. Efforts are on to revive the glory of the Kala Mandir, now in a dilapidated condition, by organizing the Deccan art festival annually. The beautiful domed Qutub Shahi tombs with Islamic architecture are situated close to the fort. A new attraction at the fort is a sound and light show that brings the legend of Golconda to life. With a spectacular interplay of audio and visual effects, the saga of Golconda unfolds over centuries of splendour. The show is presented in English and Telugu on alternate days of the week. The Golconda fort still stands tall as a proud sentinel amidst the current day Golconda artillery of the Indian army, which has sprung up today.

Golconda Fort, also known as Golkonda, is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (c. Golconda was originally known as Mankal.Golconda Fort was first built by the Kakatiyas as part of their western defenses along the lines of the Kondapalli Fort. The city and the fortress were built on a granite hill that is 120 meters (390 ft) high, surrounded by massive battlements. The fort was rebuilt and strengthened by Rani Rudrama Devi and her successor Prataparudra. Later, the fort came under the control of the Musunuri Nayakas, who defeated the Tughlaqi army occupying Warangal.[4] It was ceded by Musunuri Kapaya Nayaka to the Bahmani Sultanate as part of a treaty in 1364. Under the Bahmani Sultanate, Golconda slowly rose to prominence. Sultan Quli Qutb-ul-Mulk (r. 1487–1543), sent by the Bahmanids as a governor at Golconda, established the city as the seat of his government around 1501. Bahmani rule gradually weakened during this period, and Sultan Quli formally became independent in 1538, establishing the Qutb Shahi dynasty based in Golconda. Over a period of 62 years, the mud fort was expanded by the first three Qutb Shahi sultans into the present structure, a massive fortification of granite extending around 5 km (3.1 mi) in circumference. Patterned cloth exports were mainly to Java, Sumatra and other eastern countries.

The Golconda Fort used to have a vault where the famous Koh-i-Noor and Hope diamonds were once stored along with other diamonds. Golconda is renowned for the diamonds found on the south-east at Kollur Mine near Kollur, Guntur district, Paritala and Atkur in Krishna district and cut in the city during the Kakatiya reign. At that time, India had the only known diamond mines in the world. Golkonda was the market city of the diamond trade, and gems sold there came from a number of mines. The fortress-city within the walls was famous for diamond trade.

It’s an old fort and of this city and standing still by showing off its old history. One would need half a day to completely explore this complex. For elders it is bit difficult to climb to the top. But it’s quite interesting. Complex is big and takes time to explore. While going take sufficient water and wear comfortable dress which makes you walk easily. Parking is a mess here. There is no dedicated parking. You have to park outside. In the crowded days if you go late you may not get the parking. Tickets are Available online. This could save you time in the queue. Definitely it’s a worth the visit if you are in and around Hyderabad.

Simple concepts but executed in perfection. washroom facility is available now.

A nice historical place that is well maintained. It is quite a big place and the remains of the fort are spread across. One can walk from one end to the other on the neatly paved paths. Reaching the top is a physical exercise in itself. One can rest when tired of climbing the steps and then move on. At the highest point one can get breathtaking views of the city of Hyderabad if the visibility is good. In the evening, the sunset view is beautiful as well. The entry gate closes 30 minutes before the sunset. Guides are available near the gate.

✳️We visited the fort in the morning to avoid the heat of the day. You have to have a reasonable level of fitness to get to the top. There was lots to see on the way up and there was a lot of good signage too. You need to give yourself a good 3 hours to do it any sort if justice

We visited the fort on a afternoon. It is recommended to visit this place early in morning when it get open, as it becomes easy to climb on top. Even after almost 800 years, the fort still stands as one of Hyderabad’s greatest architectural wonders. Its really awesome to know the facts about this fort so you must require guide. It is one of its greatest engineering marvels.

The Golconda fort in Hyderabad is one of the most famous forts of India . The name originates from the Telugu words ' golla konda meaning shepherd's hill . The fort is famous for its acoustics , palaces , factories , ingenious water supply system , and the famous Fateh Rahben cannon that was used in the last siege by Aurangzeb . It has 350 steps to see great view of Hyderabad . The Telugu Blockbuster film Magadheera was shot here in 2009

Golkonda Fort: What a name it is and what a history it has. Golkonda was originally built by Kakatiyas who were ruling from Warangal. In later times it was occupied by multiple Kings. It was the capital of Hyderabad kingdom. It's well built structures of granites on the hill. The fort has multiple protection layers which includes enclosing compound walls built with stone. In the current times it is being maintained by the government, The main corridors and paths are well maintained. It has a mosque and a Hindu temple on top of the hill. The things I like about this place are: 1. Ticket cost is just 5 per person (Without photography) 2. Garden and paths are maintained well 3. Evening shows 4. People clapping in the inner entrance gate expecting it's echo on the hill (Fun it will be) 5. Good for photo shoot or videos The roads to this place are very narrow, very less food options in and around the place. It's better to carry own food.

You can enjoy your whole day with cheaper ticket. It is advaicable carry a cap or a hat (they sill sell outside of the fort) to save your self from heat. U should pay extra money for everything u carry( camera, waterbottle etc). There is canteen inside (prices were very heavy).

Royal and historical fort in this state. Beautiful fortification, bastions, many gateways, 'Rahban' cannon, cannons, temples, mosques, palaces, Baradari and many monuments. It was the capital of the medieval sultanate of the Qutub Shahi dynasty (c.1512-1687). The region is known for the mines that have produced some of the world's most famous gems, including the "Koh-i-Noor", "the Hope Diamond", "Nassak Diamond" and the "Noor-ul-Ain". Shortly History :- This fort was first built by the Kakatiyas and known as "Mankal". The fort was rebuilt by Rani Rudrama Devi and her successor Prataparudra. Later, the fort came under the control of the Musunuri Nayaks, who defeated the Tughlaqi army occupying Warangal. It was ceded by the Musunuri Kapaya Bhupathi to the Bahmani Sultanate as part of a treaty in 1364. Under the Bahmani Sultanate and then Qutb Shahi dynasty, this fort slowly rose to prominence. Over a period of 62 years, the mud fort was expanded by the first 3 Qutb Shahi sultans into the present structure. It remained the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty until 1590 when the capital was shifted to Hyderabad. The fort finally fell into ruin in 1687, after an 8 month long siege led to its fall at the hands of the Aurangzeb. The Tombs of the Qutub Shahi sultans lie about 1 kilometer north of Golkonda's outer wall.

Golconda Fort, also known as Golkonda is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Golconda was originally known as Mankal. Golconda Fort was first built by the Kakatiyas as part of their western defenses along the lines of the Kondapalli Fort. The city and the fortress were built on a granite hill that is 120 meters (390 ft) high, surrounded by massive battlements. The fort was rebuilt and strengthened by Rani Rudrama Devi and her successor Prataparudra. Golconda Fort is listed as an archaeological treasure on the official "List of Monuments" prepared by the Archaeological Survey of India under The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act. I Loved this place. For anyone who's intrigued about historical sites and ancient history, this place is a must visit.

An impressive structure, which once, would have bewitched every onlooker, stands majestically even today. Golconda Fort is sure to impress you with not only with that highly advanced techniques were used back then and sturdy structure, but also with an outstanding view of the surrounding city. The sunset from the top of the fort, is awe-inspiring. One of Hyderabad's most popular and supreme monuments, Golconda Fort allures every visitor with its unparalleled beauty and grandeur. A Hyderabad Tour is incomplete without a visit to this fort. Founded in the approximately 12th Century by the Kakatiya Kings, this massive Golconda Fort with eight gates and 87 bastions was later built by Qutub Shahi Kings. The name Golconda Fort has a legend behind it. As per the story, a shepherd boy was once walking on this hill when he had come across a God idol. The news about the shepherd boy and his findings reached the then ruler of Kakatiya Dynasty. The King then decided to built a fort on the hill, which then came to be known as Golconda (Shepherd’s Hill) Fort. Although if interested one can visit the fort at anytime, it is preferable to visit the Golconda fort from months of September to March. As the weather tends to get hotter during summer in Hyderabad, exploring this majestic fort, which does require a lot of walking and climbing stairs, can be slightly uncomfortable. Also, visit during the evenings as after exploring this magnificent fort, you can sit for the sound and light show. Reaching Golconda fort is quite an easy task as it is well connected by road to the rest of the city. It is around 11 km away from the center of Hyderabad.

Such a great fort with such a great history. But such poor management and utter rubbish cleanliness maintained by the govt. Only the entrance garden is beautifully maintained. You have drinking water facility only at the top of the fort and bottom. No where else. Ticket 25 per person.

One of the most underrated historic places. Golconda fort is one of the most famous tourist spots of Hyderabad. Being one of the oldest monuments which had a rich diverisfying history starting from the reign of warrangal to the odds of Mughals. Golconda aka the shepherd's hill is a must visit in a lifetime. With ₹25 pax ticket it's a certain cheaper bargain. The AP tourism has also gone an extra mile to entail the history of the monument. However, the sitting arrangements have not improved given that it has been running for the audience for more than 20 years. Can improve the sitting arrangement as nobody wants free mosquito bites as add ons. 😉

It's just not a place... It's a monument.... Just imagine the place when it was in use and all the royal queens using such well built comfortable lavish bath areas, swimming pools, rose water tubs, attached loo areas, ladies chat areas and all, such pity that we can only see the ground floor of this and all the other bedroom structures are demolished in wars... Such a beautiful place to visit...

Golconda fort is in the official list of monuments prepared by the Archaeological Survey of India under The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act.It is a very nice place to visit.Vehicles are parked along the boundary of the fort near the main entrance. One could visit ramadasu prison, mahankali temple in the fort.We could find a spectacular view of the city from the top of the fort.We can also see army grounds in that area.Golconda consists of four distinct forts. There are also horse stables inside which we can still visit. One of the special attractions here is the acoustic effect experienced at the gate called as "Fateh Darwazaa".What happens is there is flower shape carved on the stone which marks the acoustic center of the dome above the head, when a person stands here and claps, the sound waves reverberate and become so loud that they can be heard clearly at the 'Bala Hizar',the highest point of the fort. Also there are lighting shows held here at the night time where the history of the fort is explained through a pre-recorded voice and lights. Also the most famous kohinoor diamond was once stored in the forts vault along with many other diamonds.

Patterned cloth exports were mainly to Java, Sumatra and other eastern countries

The fort is very big and very knowledgeable for dakshina Madhya bharata itihaasa. The fort was built by the Hindu kakatiyas Raja. The fort was built mainly for diamonds bussiness and storage of diamonds like kohinoor ,dariya -e- noor, regent, blue hope, .Later in 1687 the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb ruined the fort after he won the fight over 8 months of battle with Rajas . The fort has 6 main entrance to enter the Golconda fort. 1. Bala hisar darwaja. 2 fathe darwaja. 3. Moti darwaja. 4. Banjara darwaja. 5. Makka darwaja. 5. Entrance darwaja. The attraction in fort is . Abyssian arches, dhwani prangan, Ashlah Khana, Taramati mosque, Ramadas Bandikhana, Camel stable, private chambers (kilwat), Mortuary bath, Nagina bagh, Ramasasa's kotha, Durbar hall, Ambar khana etc. The entry ticket to the fort is 25 INR for indian people and age below 15 years children the entry ticket is free. The main attraction in the fort is communication system from dhwani prangan to last point of the fort which almost 500 meters away from dhwani prangan. You must try it with guide . Otherwise you'll not understand the communication system.. which is built by kakatiyas Raja.......

Amazing fort which can be visited when the weather is not too hot. It would be very much helpful if we carry a pair of sunglasses, hat and wear sports shoes. There are lot if steps to climb up and trek up the fort. There is also a temple on top of the fort, Ramdas jail etc. Maintenance is good here. It's a tourist destination and a must visited place in Hyderabad.

Great view, serene gardens, a nice spot if you want to take revenge on a person- make them climb without stopping. It's 10% view, 70% climbing and 20% stopping for rest and water breaks. Almost every break I felt like my heart is gonna explode. I even decided the spot to bury me if I did end up dying there to which my friends disagreed. They didn't wanna put extra effort of burying me coz they were also tired.. 100% recommended to visit since I had to go through the experience I hope everyone else does too.

Visited the #Golcondafort of #hyderabad today. A massive architectural beauty built in the year 1143 Ad. It is one of the must see places for those visiting Hyderabad. Yes, it could have been maintained better. Takes around 3 hours to complete. Mr.Jaffer was my guide and I paid him 400 rupees. Having a guide to explain the history of the Fort is useful. I went there in the afternoon. If interested in photography, it is better to go there in the morning when the sunlight falls from the front side of the Fort. Do not forget to experience the wireless sound transmission effected with special carvings on the stones. That is a wonder. #travel #photographer #stillsofindia

The light and sound show here is the the best one till date from the once that I had seen. The show is very informative, musical andkeeps you glued to your seat till the end! The aura of this place is such that you really feel the royal vibes while you stay there. Must visit for all who come to Hyderabad!

  • 5/5 Malini M. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place, rich in History. The entrance can be a little crowded and hidden, but locals direct you easily. Reachable by taxi, auto and nearest metro. Ubers are useful in Hyderabad. Guides at the fort are knowledgeable and some are entertaining and fun to talk to.

  • 4/5 Roshan J. 1 year ago on Google
Good place to spend weekend time. Historical significance. But can be well maintained as they are charging entry ticket. Ticket should be online payment through QR scanner. It will be much easier for visitors. Great view from top. Keep water with you at summer time.

  • 5/5 Micah w. 1 year ago on Google
This place gave me chills. What an architecture. Was mesmerized by the hard work and the labour that's gone behind this monument. Their sound design used in thier construction is crazy. It can travel about a kilo meter or so. And the delay that we hear from the roof is crazy too. Being a musician this delay gets me into another world. It's maintained very well too. If u ever go to Hyderabad don't you ever miss place. U will not be disappointed for sure..

  • 4/5 KK H. 1 year ago on Google
One star reduced due to the dirty politics of Hyderabad City buses playing monopoly by running only setwin private, rude, non-frequent buses to many most needed places like Golkonda. And please maintain cleanliness.. outside entrance was well maintained, inside need to take care.

Nice fort. Must visit if you are going to Hyderabad. Needs one hour to completely see the fort if you are a quick Walker. Can consider 1.5 to 2 hours of you want to walk easily.

  • 5/5 Sanjeev kumar R. 1 year ago on Google
It's a well mentained fort with views of almost the entire Hyderabad City. One of the must visit places of hyderbad. For locals ticket cost around 30 and for foreigners it js around 150. Usually crowded with visitors.

  • 3/5 Srinivas R. 1 year ago on Google
You can appreciate the ancient structures. You need to walk up to reach the top. You would have seen most of this in all Telugu movies. Weekend parking is the problem.

  • 5/5 Sukhesh S. 10 months ago on Google
It's a excellent place to visit if you are in Hyderabad. It's a beautiful historic heritage and best place for trekking. Best time to visit here is during morning (before 12 PM) or evening after 4 PM. Because humidity will be too high if you visit during afternoon. Ticket price is 25 per person. you can reach here by local auto or ola/uber.

  • 4/5 Satheesh Kumar V. 11 months ago on Google
It’s a famous attraction in Hyderabad. The biggest fort takes close to two hours to roam around. Top of the fort has best views. Avoid going at weekends since the crowd will be much and will be peaceful on weekdays. Public transportation is less to this place(hyd govt should provide more buses). Overall must visit place if you're a tourist.

  • 5/5 Jithin V. 10 months ago on Google
Wonderful place to visit, just not during the day. The sun will be unbearable. The fort is a hostoric marvel. There are guides available inside the fort. If going in a group, hiring a guide will help understand the stories behind everything.

  • 5/5 yasmeen a. 9 months ago on Google
Best place to visit. Recommended to take tour guide as to know much more about fort history. It was an amazing experience. Old is gold! Kids, too, loved it. It was fun to climb on top of the Fort to watch the whole HYD city. But we went in summer time it was too hot. Better to keep extra water bottles handy, hats n sun glasses r must to wear.

  • 4/5 Ankitha P. 11 months ago on Google
I think the best time to visit this place is around 4.30pm whence you can stroll through the place in the evening sun and will also get time to capture pictures while you are going up the fort. It is beautiful to see the setting sun from the highest point in the place. There's no need to take a guide if you have the background knowledge about the place as they are going to describe only the significance of the various spots on the way.

  • 4/5 Selva R. 9 months ago on Google
Very nice Fort!! Required uphill climbing so avoid visit during peak sunny day you will get tired quickly... There is no proper clock room available to keep your bags.... Few shops offer that facility but i didn't feel safe. So either carry with you or keep it in your car. Entrance there is checking and they don't allow to carry snacks.

We are from Thane/Mumbai and this was my first visit to Hyderabad and to the Golconda fort. We had a really thrilling and wonderful experience at the site. Firstly, the day luckily was amply breezy, so architecturally beautiful and the scenic beauty was evident as we climbed to the top, nearly 700 plus steps. The site has been kept clean and the caves and rooms provide a cool shade for the brief pauses as one climbs to the top. It really is a photographer's delight!!

  • 2/5 SANDEEP S. 5 months ago on Google
Well maintained Fort, good for trekking and controlling you're Carbohydrate. It takes lot of time to reach on top, But good part is that Laser show is arranged daily 7 to 8 pm for which you have to pay Extra 140 per person

Good place to go for a piece of history. Evening or early morning is a good time to visit. Sound and light show is a good experience to know the history. Guide service is available. But s&L show narrates better than guides

A must visit! Golconda fort is undoubtedly one of most magnificent fortress complexes in India. It’s said to be haunted, though dint experience anything such. Interestingly a beautiful green butterfly came to greet me and sat on me for quite sometime 😀😇

It was a great experience here in Golkonda the entry fee charge is around 25/- for Indians and 300/- for Foriegners U can witness a great scluptures of Shahi Kings and you can find all information how then Shahi Kings lived really , a beautiful monuments to witness ,

"I recently visited Golconda Fort, and while the location is undeniably beautiful, there are some areas that could be improved. The historic significance of this place could be better preserved, and waste management needs attention. Additionally, more washrooms, signboards, and drinking water points would greatly enhance the visitor experience."

Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad is a historical masterpiece. Its colossal stone walls, ingenious acoustics, and panoramic views are awe-inspiring. Guided tours offer captivating insights into its rich history. A must-visit for history buffs and anyone seeking a glimpse into India's grand past.

Very well kept location of great historical and archaeological importance. A marvel of Kakatiya Hindu Fort Architecture. Visitors should be educated to take care of their own garbage. Tickets are cheap for Indians. Only 25 Rupees. QR Payments accepted. Must visit if in Hyderabad.

Good one to visit along with family. It closes around 5pm. But the light and sound show starts by 6.30pm. This show talks about the history of the fort, must watch. We can put a face to those people who lived there in the fort because of this show, otherwise you can see just the architecture of it

  • 4/5 Mohammed A. 5 months ago on Google
Golkonda Fort is must visit place near Hyderabad old city. Well maintained by Govt. Best for Kids, family & friends. Elderly people can come and see Rani mahal , mosque , garden area , etc.. without hiking for final spot. Good view of city after good hiking and around 200 steps climbing. Best time for visit : 9am to 11am , 4pm to 6pm , it takes around 3-4 hours to complete.

  • 3/5 Snehal S. 4 months ago on Google
Those who are fond of historic monuments will like this place. One can easily spend 2 to 3 hours by looking everything around. You can also climb up to the top.Try visiting in cool weather..it will enhance your experience

Great place to visit. I will suggest everyone to visit once, whoever is visiting Hyderabad. I've atteched some photos of that fort. From the top of the fort we can see the bottom the Fort's area and also the some part of Hyderabad city. The view is awesome from the top of Golconda fort.

  • 5/5 Nitin Paul A. 4 months ago on Google
Opens at 9am and the counter closes at 530pm. Not sure about the sound and light show at night. Beautiful multi-tier fort, the hike up to the top will take less than an hour at a very leisurely pace. The entire fort complex can be explored and will take about 2-3 hours. Better to avoid visiting during summers and during mid-day.

  • 5/5 Satyaprakash N. 4 months ago on Google
Overally it's a nice place, if you wanna visit go right before sunset if I say timings then enter around 4:00 pm trek towards the top explore this place fully you'll get the vibe. Don't visit with people's who hate walking it'll suck for them. Above mentioned timing is for them who want the best view of sunset from top and capture yourself with a beautiful sunset view. (P.s Grab sun glasses and water bottles. And don't visit during throughout the day or midday it'll suck best time to visit is right before sunset.) Have a great day 😌🤗

  • 5/5 Andrew E. 4 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed wandering around this abandoned fortress with my family! A highlight of our time in Hyderabad for sure. What we loved the most was that there was a mix of well manicured paths and gardens, but we could also freely wander on small paths through old and overgrown areas of the ruins. If you go off the main trail it can be treacherous so wear good shoes and hold onto kids, but we loved it. 300 INR per adult entry, cash only. Kids were free, even the 13 year old. Not too crowded. Spent about 3 hours there to wander around. Closes at 530pm.

  • 4/5 DEEPALI B. 4 months ago on Google
One should take a guide to get some knowledge about the place as there is no point in just roaming around and watch the stones and walls with no info about the history and how they used to live there on the fort. Our guide was much friendly. He also waited for me to feed my 1 yr old while he was explaining.

  • 5/5 Vaibhav P. 4 months ago on Google
Historic fort and most importantly really well maintained. You need atleast 2-3 hrs to explore the fort. You need to walk and later climb a lot of stairs to reach the top, but totally worth it. Recommended to hire a guide to understand the history and the architecture. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Amith Makkuva (Mr A. 4 months ago on Google
Great place to visit and wonderful history to know. Be fit to walk up the steps around 300+ to see the king Palace on the top. You will also find nice scenery once you’re on top of the palace which is amazing.

  • 3/5 Raju V P. 2 months ago on Google New
The place is a one time visit. Do have to say that the lawns and greenery are maintained very well. Nice for photos. The authorities managing it should provide better parking facilities. Also, the hawkers inside only take money; no upi/card. Be prepared.
