We almost didn't visit because of the mixed reciews, but I'm glad we did! We spent a wonderful morning here with our 3 year old (100% stroller-friendly!). I was surprised to find a local wildlife park (as opposed to just a farm or traditional zoo) - so that might explain people complaining about lack of animals etc... Because it's a more open experience where we enjoy a nice walk and try to spot the animals in a more natural habitat. We were quite lucky on a lightly rainy day and saw plenty of animals! There is a large variety of friendly farm animals you can feed for 1€, and also curious local wildlife which came to say hello at the fence! I understand they house rescued animals and some parts were closed off but even so, we spent over 2h and didn't manage to see everything (lunchtime!). The only questionable things I saw were the horses seemed very agitated - All of them were inside their stables, banging against the doors, some trying to undo the latch to get out. I wonder if they don't get their daily free roaming or if it was due to public holiday (we only saw one employee). And the two bears were just lying down and did not move. Other than that most animals looked healthy and thriving and overall we had a fantastic time.

Animals are happy and healthy. Park is well mainted. Entrance fee is high at €11 for an adult ticket. Takes about an hour to 90 minutes to see everything.

Einfach nur traurig. Ungepflegt. Gehege dreckig und viel zu klein. Alle tiere die es geschafft sich umzubringen haben es auch schon getan. Viele leere käfige.

Quinta da Paiva is a mixed bag of goodies. The farm yard section is fun as you can feed all the animals from little piglets to goats and sheep. On the other hand the wildlife section leaves a lot to be desired. Signage isn't very helpful and some of the enclosures are either too small or too dirty. You are able to see bears, deer, wolves, and a lama. I find it could do with some upgrading.

Lovely place, you can walk 5 miles inside park, and every corner is a surprise with animals watching you.

We saw a lot of animals, and they generally seemed like they were quite healthy and had a good amount of space in their enclosures (considering this is a sort of Zoo and not a Safari park ofc). We saw some maimed animals like a blind owl, but I understand this park also takes injured wild animals in, so it wasn't too disturbing. Some horses seemed quite distressed. In general, the park is quite nice and well kept (despite some closed off areas) and was a really nice surprise to visit, we spent a lovely morning as a family, feeding the farm animals and looking at the wild ones. Will definitely come back.

I went to this biological park a few years ago with my grandchildren and we really enjoyed it. This time it was a disappointment. The most interesting animals no longer exist and those that still exist seem to have been abandoned.

An excellent place to visit, especially with kids 😀 A really well maintained park with a BRILLIANT range of animals, both farmyard and wild 😮 Good value for money considering the size of the place. Highly recommended 👌

Nice location, maybe slightly over priced? Sadly, the person in charge of pony rides for children was not there this month. The wild animal exhibit up on the hill is quite well done, you can see wolves and lynxes up close and personal.

Very sad place for animals. Small cages for bears, owls, birds of prey. Disappointing environment for them with little evidence of stimulation. Not recommended.

One of the very few one stars I’ve given out. This place is DESPICABLE. An EU funded project gone horribly awry. We were the only visitors at the park the afternoon we were there. Either the animals are almost all dead from their wretched treatment or they keep them somewhere else when it’s not busy. The conditions are deplorable; the worst I’ve ever seen at a “zoo” or “park”. My wife and I left with a wretched feeling in our stomach and vowed to never go into a place like this ever again. The cages for the birds barely allow enough space for them to walk, let alone fly. The majority of the pens that used to hold zoo animals are now entrusted to goats or sheep. Strongly suggest avoiding; this place should be shut down.

Good park with mostly lots of space for the animals. And they only host animals from the area which often even come from recovery stations. Really beautiful...

A nice park to walk around, though lots of steep hills as you climb up the side of the hill to see all the different animals. My granddaughter liked seeing all the goats, sheep and deer. Cafe at the entrance, along with toilets.

A pleasant place to visit with family but lacks organization. We found the birds' habitats very small and lacked trees or bushes to perch on. We were also surprised to see a friendly dog in a cage like it was a wild animal. It should walk freely inside the park

A hidden gem. I went with my two sons (4 & 1) and they loved it. You can easily spend all day here. Highly recommend.

Great place to visit with family. It has two areas: one focused on farm animals and another focused in wild animals mainly from Portugal wildlife

👍 Picturesque village, one of the oldest in Portugal. Well restored, pretty and photogenic, most of the houses transformed into rural tourism. Good for a little walk and photos but wouldn't come here on purpose from afar. Tip: in the main street, right to the small church, there's a tiny door which is...
