My wife loves izakaya, which is Japanese cuisine with wide variety of food that goes well with drink, of course it's still good even you don't drink. We found binchoyaki on Yelp to celebrate my wife's birthday. The place did not disappoint. The waitress are friendly, service is great, and most importantly the food is good. We ordered all kinds of food, variety of yakitori or skewers, salad, origini, and ramen. We enjoyed every dishes. I went with beer to go with the food. They have a large selection of drinks, beer, saki, etc. for you to choose. Due to COVID-19, they offer outdoor seating at the patio only and you must make reservation ahead of time. They were able to seat is even we arrived ten minutes early. The service was prompt and the waitress was really friendly and helpful. All in all a very pleasant dining experience. We'll come back for more if we're in the sacrament area again. Highly recommended.

Id pass for something better… A mandatory 20% gratuity and only two persons eating? And the. Had the nerve to have a tip function when signing for the check??? The food was unique and flavorful, though some was over cooked. We placed our order and the waitress forgot a core item and then brought it only after we asked about it. A so so experience, I would pass next time. I DONT HAVE A PICTURE OF THE RAMEN BECAUSE IT CAME TOO LATE…With no apology for forgetting it. I will pass next time.

Dear Michelin, I have considered you a trustworthy guide to exceptional dining for the majority of my 54 years on the planet. Tonight, that trust has been compromised. My fiancé made reservations this evening for Binchoyaki Sacramento based on her “hit list” of Michelin blessed recommendations for 6:15. We arrived at 6 and standing outside met Cathy, the hostess. We had reserved the bar and walked in to the restaurant and saw the 2 open chairs at the bar but were told to check in with Cathy who told us that we would be seated at 6:15 like our reservation. The patio was 50% full and another couple came a few minutes later with a 6:30 reservation and consistently, she told them that they would be seated at 6:30. At 6:15 she informed us that masks were mandatory and although I am a double vaccinated healthcare employee I agreed to mask to our seats at the bar. Over ten patrons inside including the bar were unmasked and I took my mask off after being seated and she said that we needed to mask until we were served. There were many non consuming unmasked patrons inside and I asked if that was reasonable and recommended we leave to my fiancé when she shared that it would be $25 per person to leave at that point. Stunned I agreed to stay just to see what the extent of this madness would expose. I asked what law existed now dictating masks and she responded that I was “scaring her” and should stop. I stopped. Our server was great. I didn’t get her name but she said our food would be amazing and explained the menus. Unmasked we ordered a sake and a beer and put together our order. After ordering Cathy returned to us and said that I needed to stop looking at her because it was making her uncomfortable. I had not looked at her at all. At this point I was shocked and confused. We placed our order and subsequently watched the staff prepare the grilled items. I saw 3 different people handle raw meat and either open the refrigerator in the open prep area or switch to vegetables, none gloved. The grill was covered in aluminum foil and 3 cooks shared a very small space with 4-5 staff passing between during our 20 minutes there. We asked our server to prepare our order to go and paid. What we received (for $90) was 7 ounces of protein (I weighed it when I got home because it was ridiculous) and sauce and garnish. The chicken and steak were unseasoned and overcooked. The sushi was excellent. The order was not a reasonable portion for 1 person. I have lived here and dined extensively for many years and I have never experienced this level of ineptitude and disregard for customer service. On top of everything, the gratuity was included with the bill which has never been the case for a party of 2 in any city in my entire life, exacerbated by the experience and the threat of a $50 charge for leaving prior to ordering because of a clueless and rude employee. This restaurant does not deserve to be in the company of the fine restaurants our city is fortunate enough to provide. I hope this is a unique example of a restaurant that has been spectacular then terribly fallen after the rating. If not, it does compromise our interest in using your guide as a reliable benchmark. Thanks,

Skewers drew me here, my family and I had high expectations as there were plenty of good reviews on Google and Yelp. But some of the skewers came overly charred, and the mazemen was way too salty with little seafood flavor. We sat on the inside, where there were flies bothering us throughout dinner. Cleaner setting, better service, and more delicate foods would be expected at this price point.

Ordered a few yakitori. This is my second time here and I didn't expect the higher price. None the less ordered a few sticks for a buddy and I What's great is that they grill in front of you. They cook it over coals. My complaint is that you don't really taste the charcoal which should add on to the flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food coming out of it still tasted good. Got a few mushroom sticks and you have to try the chicken cartilage.

It was our first time and it was definitely an experience. The food was fabulous, my wife and I enjoyed the bacon fried rice very much. Menu selection is huge The! The service was good. Reservations is needed to dine. Would recommend and will be coming back.

First time at Binchoyaki. I made a reservation a few days in advance. When my party arrived, we were greeted by the host and seated within a few minutes. Our waitress provided great recommendations and was awesome overall. The only issue with the service was that it took a while before we were able to place our first order after being seated. Other than that, food and drinks came quickly, and we had a great meal. Definitely try the wagyu tsukine with an onsen egg, bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, and chili dumplings. I'm still thinking about those dishes 🤤

We decided to stop by and try this place on our way to Target. It’s a bit difficult to be seated as the host/hostess is inside constantly, so you have to either make a reservation or stand outside where they should be and wait to be acknowledged. Once seated, the entire process of ordering and receiving took a while as well. Especially for a place that wasn’t very busy, maybe four couples at the max. And most already had their food. The food itself was okay. A bit flat in the flavor compartment, the shrimp tacos though, they were spectacular. Overall, the food was definitely overpriced. At the end of our meal, when the waitress brought us the check, we were graced by an already added twenty percent gratuity. For service that was spotty and slow. She was nice, but she didn’t do anything above and beyond enough for us to tip twenty percent. I could understand if it was a five or ten percent added gratuity, that’s understandable, but twenty on a meal for two people who received poor treatment is not acceptable. We will not be attending this establishment again.

Enjoyed trying a wide variety of dishes including the Loco Moco meatloaf special (which 4 of us shared, it’s very filling!) and the sweet potatoes were another yummy choice. Suggest making reservations, we didn’t have one and only had to wait about half an hour for a table which wasn’t bad since it was a Friday evening. Atmosphere is casual, service is friendly and helpful. The food is grilled to order so can be a little slow coming to the table, I suggest dining here when you’re not in a rush. Your check can get kinda steep if you don’t keep an eye on what you’re ordering or if you go too hungry. We made both mistakes and a casual Friday night dinner became a of fine dining experience. The tip was automatically added to our check which surprised us a little because we were a party of 3. Not sure if that’s standard practice or not. Will definitely be returning!

The food was absolutely delicious and our waitress was both knowledgeable of the menu, but was very friendly and helpful. Sat at the bar. First time visiting this place and definitely not the last.

Binchoyaki - this was a pleasant surprise. We sampled so many combinations of meats! It was really delicious. I will say my favorites were the Belly and pork cheeks. Side note the mochi bacon was a cheesy salty combo. It was interesting on the palate Our party shared a TanTan Tonyu Udon. The noodle were adente and the meat want sweet/spicy. The sauce brings is all together for a full experience. I recommend it and I'm not a fan cold noodles. This place does have an automatic gratuity of 20% on your order. Just a fair warning. Our hostess and server did not tell us until the check was delivered. Overall, it was a great experience Get the crispy rice too!!!!!

Binchoyaki meaning (charcoal grill) is a modern Japanese style focused on small plates. They have a skewer menu, main dish & special menu to choose from. All which is very delish! We loved all the items we ordered. A reservation is a must as there isn't a lot of tables. But there is outdoor dining. We went when the weather was blazing hot 🔥 🥵 and they did not provide air-conditioning. Therefore, it was kinda unbearable to enjoy dinner.

It is a bit on the expensive side but you will get your money’s worth. Everything we ordered was fresh and DELICIOUS. The servers were friendly and efficient. I also love that I could watch the chefs cook. A unique and memorable experience. Loved it and would come back for more.

Do not sleep on the veggie scewer options, so much flavor packed in yet perfectly balanced. The sweet potatoes were a favorite, and the bacon mochi was AMAZING. And great service to top it all off.

This was my first time at this restaurant and I really enjoyed my dining experience here. Who says there is no place " to eat" in Sacramento? I beg to differ. Everything the server recommended was really good (Thanks Shari!). From the izakaya skewers to the Okinawan ramen. The only thing I really didn't care for was the Soboro don. Lots of sweet egg with ground chicken over rice. Too sweet for my taste buds! You MUST order the Krispy rice when you are here! Loved the tangy, light spicy bites. The grilled Hamachi was my 2nd favorite thing to eat here. Not too soft or overly cooked. I had a awesome meal here and will definitely be back! Made a reservation and it's not in what I would say the best of neighborhoods. Indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be found and not too difficult. Make sure you make a reservation!

So good! We had their food at a pop-up at Jackrabbit Brewery in West Sac last weekend, but the food is even better at their location. Shari was our server, and she was *amazing*, pointing out tasty skewers, recommending ramen choices, and making sure we truly enjoyed and remembered the night. We will definitely be returning for more date nights in the future.
