This place has a very beautiful river flowing across the Sanctuary. You will find beautiful birds with lots of cows I don't know why. But the stones and river in the forest will make your day. You can also take your car in the Sanctuary 😊

Orchha, a town in the Tikamgarh District is known as few of the most visited places in Madhya Pradesh. Orchha also gets importance due to few of the most popular places that exist within it, including the Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary lies within the area through which Betwa River flows. It's one of the most scenic places in Madhya Pradesh. The river water of Betwa forms one of the main sources of water for the wildlife living within. Unlike other vast wildlife sanctuaries, Orchha Wild life Sanctuary is comparatively smaller, around 25 kms long and 15 kms wide. It covers an area of around 46 sq.km. Yet the Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary gains importance due to few factors, which includes rich wildlife, Betwa River and some dense plantations. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary is also home to few of the most endangered species in the world. Recommended: Panna Tiger Reserve - Travel Information Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary Established in the year 1994, Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary lies within huge forest which is home to few of the dense plantations of Dhawa Trees and Kardhai Trees (Anogeissus Spp). Other than the Betwa River, Jamni River too flows along the Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary. Though it can't be referred as a reserve, yet the Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary resembles a natural jungle environ which borders the Madhya Pradesh from Uttar Pradesh. The Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary appeals tourist for its solitude and natural forest ambience. Apart from Dhawa and Kardhai Trees, few other plants which contribute to the thick plantations of Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary include Teak, Palaash and Khair. Though one may not enjoy the pleasure of spotting tigers and leopards, yet one can find many interesting fauna like spotted deer, Blue Bull, Peacock, Wild pig, Monkey, Jackal, Nilgai, Sloth Bear and many such species. Watching these animals within their natural habitats is a great experience within itself. But what appeals more than anything is the Bird watching experience one gets to enjoy in Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary. In fact Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary is often referred as a Bird Sanctuary by main foreign and Indian tourists. Around 200 bird species can be found at Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary near the river ecosystem, which includes many in-house birds and various migrants from all over the World like peafowls, peacocks, swans, black swan, Jungle Bush Quail, minivet, stork, kingfisher, owls, woodpecker, geese, collared scops owls and many more. A Wildlife Sanctuary wherever situated in our country India is a a protected area of importance for flora, fauna, or features of geological or other interest, which is reserved and managed for conservation and to provide opportunities for study or research. The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 provides for the establishment of Protected Areas in India.

At a distance of 1 km from Chhatris and 2 km from Orchha Fort, Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary lies on the banks of Betwa River in Orchha town of Madhya Pradesh. The place is a delight for bird watchers as there are nearly 200 species of birds. The migratory birds that visit the place include kingfisher, woodpecker, owls, jungle bush quail, black swan and geese. River Betwa flowing through the area makes the sanctuary more appealing. Hardly there is not much wildlife sighting in the sanctuary but it is suitable for peaceful nature walks. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary also offers many other adventure sport options including fishing, river rafting, boating, trekking, camping, jungle trekking and hiking opportunities. The best time to visit Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary is from November to June. During the winter season, the sanctuary is at its best. Visit during monsoons however is not recommended, as animals usually go for hideouts due to heavy rains. The Betwa River may also get flooded due to heavy rains following to which the sanctuary may also close down temporarily.

Serene, virgin, untouched and traveller friendly! One of the few sanctuaries that lets you experience the beauty of nature on foot (or bicycle). There are multiple walking trails, quite clearly marked, all leading to different spots. We went in early December, and although didn’t see any animals or birds as such, he the most pleasant relaxed time there. Must visit, keep it a secret though...and please don’t spoil the environment! Also go only if you want to be in touch with nature, not for a picnic or with the expectation of spotting any wildlife as such.

The Orchha Sanctuary is a breathtaking haven, a serene abode for nature enthusiasts and wildlife aficionados. Nestled in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, this sanctuary unfolds an enchanting tapestry of diverse flora and fauna against a backdrop of lush greenery and tranquil surroundings. The sanctuary's landscape boasts meandering rivers, serene lakes, and verdant forests, offering a picturesque retreat for visitors. As one ventures through the trails, a symphony of birdcalls and the rustling of leaves accompany the exploration, showcasing the rich biodiversity housed within. Wildlife enthusiasts are treated to sightings of various species including deer, nilgai, langurs, and an array of migratory birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The sanctuary's ethereal beauty combined with its thriving ecosystem offers a serene escape, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in nature's splendor while fostering a deep appreciation for the region's natural heritage.

Orchha Century is located on the banks of the river Vetva in Orchha; This type of wild animal deer, Nilgai, monkey, wild boar and various types of birds are also found in this century. There can be trekking in the forest along the banks of the river. Boating facility in the river is also available. The pedal boat can be taken for one hour at a cost of Rs. 50 per person. River rafting can also be done on the availability of water in the river. Overall, there is a great place to celebrate a picnic with the family.

Love the wildlife, cafeteria & park. But in my opinion wildlife sanctuary is not safe, because there have no gards, no saftey under wildlife sanctuary. Even you have to open the gate. Bottles of liquorice were lying in a lot of places. Even dustbin was not there. love the location but come here at your own risk.

This is a scenic sanctuary. Located between river Betwa and River Jamuni. Though there are not much wild animals but there is a good deal of trees and water bodies, rivulet and streams of water. There are some old establishments as well and also a watch tower. Entry into this wildlife region is not free. There is a charge for each person and also charge for taking own four wheeler and perhaps for two wheelers as well. Other attractions inside the sanctuary include a Shikargah, which is an abandoned building which was perhaps used by the king or his staff for stay in the forest. This place is near a water stream and a little difficult to find. However, one has to be cautious as there are crocodiles in the river and water bodies.

This place screamed history! The crowded Ram Mandir experience was worth on it's own. Try the Kalakand (dessert), it's really tasty. There are some pretty good resorts nearby. Rafting in the Betwa river is another thing one could try.

Orchha (or Urchha) is a town in Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh state, India. The town was established by Rudra Pratap Singh some time after 1501, as the seat of an eponymous former princely state of covering parts of central & north India, in the Bundelkhand region. Orchha lies on the Betwa River, 80 km from Tikamgarh & 15 km from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. Orchha was founded in 1531 (the 16th century AD) by the Bundela chief, Rudra Pratap Singh,[4] who became the first King of Orchha, (r. 1501-1531) and also built the Fort of Orchha. The Chaturbhuj Temple was built by the queen of Orchha, Ganesh Kunwar, while Raj Mandir was built by 'Raja Madhukar Shah' during his reign, 1554 to 1591. On a seasonal island on the bank of the Betwa River, which has been surrounded by a battlement wall, stands a huge palace-fort. The fort consists of several connected buildings erected at different times, the most noteworthy of which is the Raja Mahal. Chaturbhuj Temple at Orchha, is noted for having one of the tallest Vimana among Hindu temples standing at 344 feet. The Ram Raja Temple is built on a square base and has an almost entirely plain exterior, relieved by projecting windows and a line of delicate domes along the summit. The Jahangir Mahal is built on a rectangular base and is relieved by a circular tower at each corner surmounted by a dome, while two lines of graceful balconies supported on brackets mark the central storeys. The roof is crowned by eight large fluted domes, with smaller domes between them, connected by an ornamental balustrade. The Jahangir Mahal is considered to be a singularly beautiful specimen of Mughal architecture.[1] A point worth mentioning here is that the mother of Jahangir, Mariam-uz-Zamani, was a Rajput princess. It is with this in mind that the Rajput king of Orchha had built the Jahangir Mahal. There is a spectacular light and sound show in the evening hours in the Jahangir Mahal. The show displays the history of the city of Orchha and the Jahangir Mahal.[9] Chaturbhuj Temple is an old temple from the 9th century, and is noted for having one of the tallest Vimana among Hindu temples standing at 344 feet. Sadhu of Orchha The Uth Khana (Camel Shelter) where the King's camels were stationed is right next to the fort and is a must-see. Tourists can also climb on the roof of the Uth Khana and get a fantastic view of Orchha town. The ruins behind the fort complex are an even greater sight. It makes a tourist travel back in time and is an integral part of a visit to Orchha. It houses the residences of various military officers, ministers (housing, roads), gunpowder factory, etc. Numerous cenotaphs or chhatris dot the vicinity of the fort and the Betwa river. Elsewhere about the town there is an unusual variety of temples and tombs, including the Chaturbhuj temple, which is built on a vast platform of stone. The more unguarded and neglected of these buildings are popular hangouts for tropical bees, wasps, and other such excitable stinging creatures.
