This place is at himachal-uttarakhand border. It's good to visit in winter season when migratory birds visit here. I like this place. There are also some other option to do here like boating, a resort with good view.

It is situated near the confluence of two perennial rivers Asan and Yamuna. This Lake is magnet for bird watchers. Since it attracts a large number of waterfowl, both waders and divers. Best time of visiting is October to March. Some of the birds that visit here are - Pochard, Northern Pintail, Mallard, Tufted duck. Also local migrants like Painted stork, open billed stork, night heron visits here quite often.

Calm and sirin place. Very good place for outing with kids. Lots of birds are available. My suggestion is to bring some quality camera. Otherwise you won't be able to take the clear picture of birds.

Beautiful sight seeing at any time you visit. This is an ideal place for bird lovers, Ornithologists and Naturalists alike, who can travel easily up to the Asan barrage, and see thousands of birds who have travelled miles to be there. To watch a mallard or a red crested pochard, gently swimming a few hundred yards in wilderness is indeed an unforgettable sight. Situated in the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border region in Doon Valley, northern India. Or situated at the confluence of the Eastern Yamuna Canal and the Asan River and about 11 km from Dakpathar, and 28 km. northwest of Dehradun From my pov, winter is the best preferred season to visit. A must visit place.

Excellent place for water birds. We saw a large flocks of bar headed geese, cormorants, ruddy shelduck, swifts and swallows. Other birds include tuffted duck, northern shoveler, pin tails. The barrage is very narrow, just enough for crossing 2 light 4 wheelers. Sunset is beautiful here. Worth visiting, especially in winter.

Asan Barrageย is a great picnic spot near Dehradun and it's a perfect place if you are into bird watching. You can spend hours watching the rarest species of migratory birds at the barrage including Adwall, Wigeon, RC pochard, Tufted and Shoveller. Various adventure activities are also organised here and you can see experts skiing across the smooth waters of the barrage. The place also calls for some moments of relaxation when you have to do nothing, just sitting idle and contemplating the natural beauty that is widely spread across you. For the hungry stomachs, there is a small outlet which serves excellent Maggi at INR 50. You can also enjoy local fruit 'chakrota' here. The best months to visit the barrage are from October to March.

Its awesome and lovely place with a lake nestled amidst mountains on one side and highlands on the other. It has a superb 180โฐ panoramic view out there which will surely rejuvenate you. Dancing and playing migratory birds are noteworthy to see and observe. Remember to take your binoculars to watch them closely as viewing platform is somewhat far from them. Boating is also available here adjoining a park and resort. There's a canteen as well in the resort premises from where you can get some snacks and beverages to fill up your tummy and get going! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— Do have a visit and you'd surely like to visit it again and stay over here for a night for a restful and peaceful experience. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

This wetland is famous for various migratory birds, like Rudy shelduck , bar- headed geese, heron , ibis , stork , pochard, cormorant etc.. One thing what concern me is the illegal killing of these birds. If you talk to locals nearby they will admit that they are killing these birds for meat. Forest department should take necessary steps.. Hope this will be safe place for these birds.
