Pathar Masjid (Thanesar) is a mosque build of red sandstone in Mughal style architecture. The fluted minarets are attached to the back walls. Believed to be build in 17th century, the mosque is located in Thanesar (Kurukshetra district) and is protected by the Government of India. The ceiling that rests on pillars is decorated by carved floral designs. It is situated near the tomb of Sheikh Chilli. The 'qibla' in the centre of the western wall is flanked on either side by two arched niches inscribed with verses from the Quran. The masonry terrace forming the front court was certainly added at a later stage. On the basis of the style of architecture, the Masjid appears to have been built in the 17th century AD.

Pathar Mosque, known locally as Naev Masheed , is a Mughal era stone mosque . It was built by Mughal Empress Noor Jehan, the wife of emperor Jehangir. The mosque has some distinct features that separate it from the rest of the mosques in the Kashmir Valley. Unlike other mosques, it does not have the traditional pyramidal roof. Furthermore, the mosque has nine mehraabs (arches), with the central one being larger than the others.

Place is quite good to visit with friends and family, great views for photography. Tickets price is around 20 to 30 Rupees per person and we can book tickets online also. I visited in first week of December so weather was pleasant and it was greenery around this place. Place was not much busy that day.
