The only bad thing about The Parish is that there aren't more seats available! The food is excellent. I didn't expect much considering these are Cajun tasting note in the middle of the desert, but I was extremely happy with the result! The corn bread is probably the best I've ever eaten. The burger was among the best ever. The gumbo and jambalaya were as good as anything outside New Orleans. I really hope Tucson can appreciate how talented The Parish's cooking staff are.

Ate here with friends on a recommendation while weekending in the Tucson-Elgin-Bisbee area. Wow. Small wait for seating and a bit of a wait for food after we ordered but that's to be expected. This place is popular and packed. But they do it right. Our food was outstanding right down to the fries which were perfectly seasoned and crisp without being salty or greasy. We ordered our burgers "medium" and that's what we got. Our server was friendly and helpful. Nothing but a good experience here.

Awesome location when you are craving some good Southern comfort food. Creative food and drink menus. They make a ton of their own infused liquors and have a beautiful unique bar. I had the shrimp and grits along with an order of fresh pork rinds. I would definitely get them both again, they were excellent! Fast friendly service in a very cool setting. Can't wait to go back!

Different atmosphere. Like a Louisiana voodoo parlor if that's a thing. Friendly staff and great food. Kids shrimp was a lot of hearty shrimp, I had the pulled pork sandwich. My daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese. My husband had the catfish, he said it was good and filling.

The food here is top notch! The service is also top notch! If my wife and I are celebrating a special occasion, this is where we go. The servers are beyond friendly and attentive. I joke that they know I need a refill or another beer before I do. The food is outstanding and I would say the only place that you can find this type of cuisine in Tucson. I think a lot of restaurants charge way too much for food that's quality is declining and staff that is rude and leaves you with a bad experience. I don't care about dropping 200 bucks on dinner here, it's freaking awesome and more people should know about it.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, quick and attentive servers and a great selection of food. The meals are delicious and the menu is well throughout to provide a variety of flavors at reasonable prices. My family ordered a few appetizers and entrees to share and all of them were worth praising. I’d recommend going and trying new foods such as their frog leg appetizers or cornbread! On top of delicious food they had beautiful decorations of different artist’s paintings and had a variety of handmade drinks

The food here is delightful, decadent and delicious. We were able to join the waitlist via Yelp before we made the 25 minute drive from our Airbnb to North Tuscon. We got there just as they were ready to seat us which I loved because this hungry girl didn’t have to wait! The decor is a funky and cool and the vibe is unique. Our server and service was great. She did a great job explaining the must haves on the menu and the why. Always love a server who can give you knowledgeable advice. We ordered the Drunken Angel which is very rich - I’d recommend this as a good dish to share because it may be too much if you eat the whole thing yourself! We also had the Backyard burger which was nicely done. And the hush puppies were awesome. Definitely recommend getting an order of those!

We were looking for a good dinner place that was a little different and a bit fun. This place fit the bill. Our server, Chelsea, was awesome! She was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple appetizers; the bacon popcorn and black & blue brussel sprouts. Both were very tasty! There were 4 of us and we each ordered something different; every one of the dishes were quite tasty! Great little restaurant in an inconspicuous shopping center.

Such a wonderful establishment for cocktails/drinks and local brews on tap. The flavors of the food were tremendous, very hearty, full of salts, herb and spice, juices, and fats. With a wide variety, you'll have a difficult time choosing what to enjoy. The price is very reasonable. Plenty of parking, I enjoyed the local artwork as well. I had to scoop up a black & white Parish T-shirt. The next time I'm in though, I would like to see the Mardi gras t-shirts available as well. I asked our lovely waitress, who was also bartending and doing a phenomenal job, and she kindly communicated the Parish has been out for quite some time. Whoever prints the t-shirts, we need to put these back into circulation. Take my money.

This is one of the most unique restaurants I have ever been to! It's like the perfect lovechild of Princess and the Frog but down in the dark side of the Bayou, Burlesque and Moulin Rouge. The staff is so friendly and professional. I personally had to wait a bit longer because the kitchen was overwhelmed, and the staff let my party know and that was very respectable and turned me on to the place even more. I had the fried catfish (I'm a sucker for some good fish and chips), but also tried the drunken angel. Both were irresponsibly good. Like. I would do some bad things to get that food again. Amazing. Highly highly recommend this place! Everything, confirmed by a manager and staff, is made in house which is extremely respectable and impressive. Food was delicious. Atmosphere is tangy and trendy and SO fun. Go with a date or a group, or by yourself and sit at the bar to make a night of wonderful company and memories.

So glad I finally got to try The Parish!! Food and service were both phenomenal. The best part was easily the bread pudding!! The ONE complaint was that our table ordered a bottle of Zinfandel, however what we received was actually a White Zinfandel. It was still delicious..just not what was expected. My 5 year old also ate and LOVED a frogs leg! Even I can't get over my internal hurdle and eat a frog's leg, so kudos to her!!

Colorful and cute interior design. It is located in a strip mall and parking can be an issue. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It is a busy place so timing is everything. Friendly, efficient service. Just a so-so wine selection and quite pricey. However, they do have a good beer selection with some on tap and some in bottles. The fried catfish and french fries are good but the fish is slightly too greasy. The portion of fries is huge and literally fills the whole plate. Very tasty hush puppies with a tasty dipping sauce. The gumbo is nice and smoky although a bit salty for me. Also, it could have used more chunks of meat and less rice. Not our usual type of restaurant with the higher sodium and carbs but can’t deny they know what they are doing.

The soutside sandia was incredibly delicious, I recommend this with the bacon popcorn. Couldn't taste the alcohol but I could feel it. The parish burger left me wanting more, but not because it wasn't filling (I was stuffed). It was just that great! The beer battered catfish was amazing, perfectly cooked, I hate tartar but I couldn't get enough of this tartar. The does are great. Definitely a got to in Tucson!

Food was good and all the staff was aware and respectful of food allergies. They have symbols for different dietary menu options and are willing to make accommodations to meet your needs. I overheard that their burgers are phenomenal and all patrons around me spoke nothing but praise about their dishes. Vibe inside was good— kinda dark and moody. Definitely a popular place so noise level was up there and unless you’re dining at the bar I HIGHLY encourage you to make a reservation or be willing to wait. They have a few mocktails available which is another big pro. Their beer and wine list was just extensive enough to provide options without being overwhelming. Overall definitely recommend.

Staff is so friendly. Amber was awesome and very knowledgeable about everything. Made us feel like we were regulars. The frog legs were great the gumbo was awesome. We had crawfish added. My burger was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The fries I loved. Everything was exactly what I was looking for.

A wonderful southern style restaurant - everything has spice so be prepared if you're as white as I am. We choose a few great dishes including the compressed watermelon salad (spice builds, amazing pork belly), the gumbo (more dense than expected), and the drunken noodles (great seafood, spice level even) . The cornbread was a great palette soother. Thanks for a great experience

Location is easy and there's reasonable parking. Service was great and seating was spacious. The space and decor were really fun. There's outdoor seating which is awesome. Unfortunately there were a few things that were notable enough: 1. Food was overly salted, from burger patty to pasta to garlic bread. It was tolerable at the start but after three bites, that sort of stuff builds up. It was hard to finish but we don't like to waste food and sending it back is not really a rude option we like to take. 2. While seating was spaced out for COVID-19, it made no sense that the employees wouldn't wear masks. It's crowded in there and they see customers all day, so they have the highest risk as spreaders.

The food was very nice, bacon popcorn was awesome. The blue cheese burger is huge. The red beans and rice are among the best I have had. Service was spotty, but it was quiet mid afternoon. I would definitely go again.

The food is out of this world. I had shrimp and grits with a side of hush-puppies. Beautiful presentation. I tried my friends' appetizers of grilled Brussel sprouts and fresh pork rinds. Amazing. We had the best service. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

WOW! I’ve never been more impressed with a restaurant. The food, atmosphere AND the service was out of this world. We ordered the Shrimp and Grits w Andouille, the Drunken Angel and the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious. Our waiter, Lawson, really made the experience one to remember he was so attentive and spent a lot of time just chatting and going over the menu with us. To us, the service truly makes a difference. The hostess was amazing as well- all smiles and very sweet. I honestly can’t think of a single complaint. Will absolutely be back.

One of our three favorite restaurants in Tucson and we've been here 18 years. The place is vibrant without being noisy and you can tell that the servers love working there as much as we love eating there! An extraordinary chef with original ideas and a loyal following. If you want to impress visitors without breaking the bank, this is the place! Try the Drunken Angel or the Gumbo with hush puppies. Yum!

Oh my, the parish was truly an out of body experience. The cornbread was a tasty starter, but the drunken angel was SO SO GOOD. The best pasta dish I’ve had in a very long time. Creamy, a little spicy, and so rich! The staff is great and can tell you the most popular items and their personal recommendations. You NEED to try it!

My GF wanted to take her dogs out so when lunch time came around we needed a dog-friendly place. I'd never been to the Parish, she loves the place and her pooches are welcome on their patio. Kind and friendly staff and the food hit the spot. I had Guedry's Gumbo; I believe she had the Hippie Burger. Her dogs sneaked one of my hushpuppies, even as they are neither puppies nor need to be hushed. Great place, glad I discovered The Parish.

I don't usually do reviews, but I can't say enough good things about the frog legs and gumbo. Being from Louisiana I can vouch for the gumbo being authentic (and my wife and sons make the best). I usually travel with Cajun seasoning (not hot), but this food had the best back home flavor. The legs were very juicy. I highly recommend!

FROM TIANA'S WORLD TO TUCSON When I first walked into The Parish, the decor, color scheme, chandeliers, and unorthodox art work, immediately conjured scenes from "The Princess and The Frog' when Tiana was first cornered by Dr. Facilier in the French Quarter with his sauve and seductive aura. Am I the only one with this familiarity? And the private dining room with a mardi gras & victorian decor integration and trance inducing ambiance.... I had to ask if the owners knew voodoo. Come on people are you with me? Because the food is that savory: voodoo-ish. The potions of seasonings and concoctions that should not be complementary can only come together with experimenting with different spells of cuisines. I was visiting Tucson and searched soul food. The Parish was recommended. I ate at the bar and immediately noticed the bookcase of culinary pickling preservations. Does Dr. Facilier work here? Over The Two Days I Ordered: Shrimp & Grits w/collards (5/5) Blue cornbread (5/5) Parish hamburger with fries (3/5) La Verdad (tequila and cucumber infused refreshing drink) (5/5) The burger patty was da bomb but I would ask for easy blue cheese and substitute for a cup of gumbo. The fries are topped off with salt which is absolutely not needed because the initial seasoning on the fries is spectacular. I liked the visual plating of the roux on the dark plate with the shrimp & grits which was a playful tasting delight. As a party of one, with no microwave or frig access and not really a heavy eater, the meal was too large. Instead of waste, I gave the remaining to a stranger at the gas station. Now let me be clear, If I had a microwave and frig, this would have been breakfast, snack, and just because I'm t.v. binging meal. Nonetheless, my recommendation is for an "amuse bouche" entree. I find it unfair to be denied the choice of many when the menu has moan murmurings of goodness from each dish. "The evening star is shinin’ bright. So make a wish and hold on tight. There’s magic in the air tonight, and anything can happen.” Princess Tiana #juken123 #theparishtucson #neworleanstwist #shrimpandgrits #amusebouche

Went for date night and enjoyed everything..joined the wailers online which I highly recommend if you don’t have reservations.. Once seated we ordered the gumbo, cornbread and Brussel sprouts… they were all amazing!!!

Excellent food, fun atmosphere and friendly staff made for a great final evening in Tucson. For meals, we had: • The Parish Burger -- perfectly cooked beef, with a delicious onion marmalade; definitely falls on my "Top 10" list for burgers. Paired with the gumbo for a side, which was absolutely worth the $2 upcharge • Carolina Pulled Pork Pibil -- hearty amount of meat, with tasty slaw, and an aioli that had the perfect little bit of heat • Guedry's Gumbo -- large bowl full of flavor and meats, with crispy bread and tasty hushpuppies on the side (definitely get an extra order of these as a starter) • Garden District Salad -- surprisingly good-sized portion as far as salads go; generous amount of toppings for it We also shared the skillet cornbread as a starter, and wished we had gotten 2. Don't hold back on the bourbon butter either! Drink menu featured a nice selection of local and national craft options for beer, plus several cocktails. Happy Hour features great drink and starter deals as well. Service was great; our server was accomodating and friendly, and the food came out in a reasonable time. Overall, a great spot to get some authentic Southern cuisine, and enjoy a night out.

Outstanding quality and uniqueness to the food here! Really enjoyed it. Didn't have to wait to long on a Friday night to get in. Great server. Good drinks. But the food!!! So darn good. We had a pasta dish and added sausage to it and the stuffed pepper and shared then both. The tastes together were amazing. Highly recommend when you want to get out and eat something out of the norm.

Walked in and immediately loved the atmosphere as Mazzy Star and the Cranberries welcomed us in. Loved the decor. The cornbread was fluffy but the very edge of it was crispy, my burger had so many flavors that worked well together, and my husband had the gumbo and hush puppies. He said the gumbo was so freaking good. We live in the complete opposite direction of this restaurant, but I can’t wait to eat here again.

Fun place to go for some pretty tasty food and specialty drinks. Everyone in our group had nothing but good things to say about their New Orleans style food. Great use of herbs and flavors in everything they served up!

We stopped in here after a recommendation and we're not disappointed. Being from the south I'm a bit extra critical of Southern Food, The Parish absolutely nailed it. The Gumbo was phenomenal with great flavor, just wish for a bit more shrimp! My wife had The Catfish and it was hands down the best fried catfish I've ever tasted. The hush puppies were absolutely amazing as well. Overall great place with cool atmosphere good service and great food.

Going inside the place is smaller that it looks on the outside- the black walls and shades and the trippy pictures on the walls give it a Gothic vibe. Our Waiter (Lawson) was on the the best waiters I’ve ever experienced- he was helpful/ fast/ and took initiative. The food was great - we had the Hush puppies- a burger and I had the compressed watermelon salad with toasted bacon chunks… very yummy. I wish we weren’t so full so that we could have enjoyed the desert or another drink- speaking of the drinks, they infuse their own vodka/tequila/Gin on the shelves and you can really taste the FRESH flavors in the drinks! It was only $60 ( not including tip) for 2 people including an appetizer, 2 cocktails, and 2 mains- one included a side. Would go again when in the mood for heavy southern style food. Their pork is very juicy.

  • 5/5 Sam C. 1 year ago on Google
I got the special Nashville hot chicken. I got the jalapeño aioli and pickles on the side and it was still spicy. Our waiter gave us a garlic aioli sauce for the fries and I put it on the sandwich and it was sooo good. It cooled the sandwich down a bit and added a garlic flavor. Their fries are delicious! The shrimp and grits is pricey but we appreciated how it wasn’t just traditional. It had great flavor. We will definitely be back.

Totally overrated restaurant. I went there to eat fish and ate swamp-tasting catfish that was beer deep fried with a quarter of inch tick crust. 🤮. I also ate a weird salad that combines water melon, berries, cheese, and pork belly, soacked in spicy dressing, for $18. The atmosphere is like in a diner, nothing special. The service is ok.

  • 5/5 Laura B. 3 years ago on Google
Coming from two southern women living in the southwest, this food is what we have been craving for years. We got the catfish, the shrimp po boy, the hush puppies, red beans and rice and bread pudding. My mother who normally does not eat a large portion came close to polishing off that big hunk of catfish, I could only eat half of the po boy due to its size. The hush puppies, man I swear next time I will order a double helping. The red beans and rice were a bit on the spicy side but still so very good. Heck even the bread pudding was divine. Thank you for having this southern feast in the desert.

I placed an order for pickup...30 min before close, I wasn't ready, wife didn't know what she wanted. The girl, Samantha, who took my order didn't miss a beat, nor did she make me feel rushed at all. My order was repeated back to me, exactly, and when I brought it home, everything was perfect...just as I had ordered. Oh, and delicious of course. I'm writing this review because takeout is not easy. But The Parish put smiles in all our tummies back home. Thank you Parish. Good job Samantha!

Everything from the service to the food was top notch. Our server was prompt, friendly, and helpful when we had questions about the menu. The food exceeded expectations. I got shrimp and grits with a side salad. The salad was really fresh and also enormous. It could have been a meal by itself. I've had shrimp and grits at many different restaurants and this one was among the best. The sauce was rich and flavorful, the shrimp was seasoned well and cooked perfectly, and the grits were unique but fantastic. I can't say enough about the whole experience.

I really wanted to like this place. I will likely give it another try. I had the short rib which was very good. My partner had the sweet tea smoked chicken, which we had initially expected to be boneless. The barbeque sauce was extremely sweet. Through dinner we had heard other tables offered bananas foster and bread pudding. Bananas foster is my favorite dessert so I was really excited, but was told it was not ready yet when we attempted to order it. Considering what bananas foster is, this seemed a bit strange. We ordered the bread pudding after this and it did not seem anywhere near as good as other reviews state. It was way too dry, and the caramel sauce didn't taste like rum at all. There were golden raisins that did not compliment the dessert. Also my large amount of leftovers was piled into a box that was too small. Most things were good but some parts of this dinner were very disappointing.

Went there on a date. :) Loved the food - Angel's pasta is a must try. Goat Cheese Relleno was quite flavorful and well cooked. Though under appetizers, we had Cast Iron Cornbread as the dessert! Really good! Not so great service though. Had to wait for 20 minutes even after having called earlier to make a reservation! That was kind of a mood spoiler. Apart from that, food and ambience was great.

A friend, who's wife is from The Big Easy, spoke a few months back of a place up north that had food worthy of her hometown. As luck would have it we were finally in the area and decided to give it a try. It was mid afternoon and they were not busy so we were seated right away. The vibe of the place is hard to explain.. Awesome does the trick. The bar area is incredible with a selection of drinks you don't see many places (Pappy!) not to mention countless "home-brew" blends of vodka and tequila. After checking the place out a bit Levi came to say hi, took our ordered and gave such a great explanation of the Bacon Popcorn that we had to try it. (You should too). Popcorn, fried in bacon grease, seasoned and with chips of bacon mixed in. OMG if they served such a thing at the movies. I had a Po-Boy, Gumbo for my daughter and fish and chips for the wife. It was all incredible. . My only wish is there had been a little more sausage in my sandwich, but the soft bread (and my own side of gumbo) made up for it. They have this great private room you can reserve for larger parties and if this place wasn't 55 minutes from my house it would be my go to not only for dinner, but also taking out of town guests. Truly a best of Tucson here.

The food was very good but our waitress had no attention to detail. In fact we kept having the call her over for water or anything else she never once stopped to check and see how we were doing And we waited almost 25 minutes for 3 hamburgers.

Apps, salads, food, dessert and service all awesome. Excellent New Orleans style food. I think the short rib was a bit over priced, but maybe im a baby back guy! Overall the visit was great!

Yummy! My kitchen away from home. I miss the Parish family and can't wait until we can dine in again!

Best hamburgers we've had in a while, and the bread pudding was phenomenal. Very delicious, and the staff are very friendly and good at what they do.

My brother and I tried this place for the first time on 2/29/20, so we were able to dine in during that time. I believe our waiter's name was Lawson, and he was very friendly and efficient. Always checked up on us and kept our drinks filled. We loved the vibe and decor. Laid back atmosphere for sure. The food was spectacular and had such great flavors. Really looking forward to when we are able to dine in this fine place again.

Everyone is so nice and it's a warning atmosphere. The food is delicious and the monkey bread is out of this world!

I love the Parish one of my favorite places to eat in town. I like the mixed drinks. Had the burger most recently and it was great! Popcorn and Cornbread for desert!
