We were on a road trip and needed a place to stop and stretch our legs. I found this spot on a squished penny machine list so we decided to check it out. They have tons of signs with descriptions of where they came from, how they obtained them, and other random facts. There is a scavenger hunt to see if you can find certain signs (we found all but one). There was also a scavenger hunt for facts read around the museum. There were 2 indoor rooms and an outdoor area that they are fixing up. They also had a demonstration on how neon signs were made which was super fascinating. The best part was that there were tons of interactive items that the kids could touch! There were also games to play in the second room including a huge Brite Lite. It was so much fun and I'm glad we stopped.

Fantastic collection of the history of advertising with neon. We were there three years ago when they first opened. They have added so much more. Displays are well done into collections of similar products. Totally worth the stop.

Superb place for all ages. Wonderfully set up to see cool creative signs custom made from many eras of Tucson, including spectacular neon and argon signs. Fun interactive explanations of the different kinds of signs from incandescent to neon/argon to fluorescent to LED. Even a collection of huge Vegas-style refurbished old roadside signs in the back patio area, with the original custom light pattern timers displayed through plexiglass so you can see how cleverly done these engineering artworks were done. Owners and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable too Overall this is a fresh, different and unique outing from other activity options. Oh, and all the signs in the collection are from Tucson, making this attraction uniquely about the surprisingly colorful history of the area. Well worth the visit!

A wonderful and true TUCSON GEM! Ignite is the place to come and learn about Tucson’s history as you see the iconic signs that made Tucson what it is today! Loved the scavenger hunt which totally kept us engaged as we ventured thru. We were able to watch as Chuck actually made a neon sign in our presence and explained what it all involves in all it’s art form. All of Tucson should see this!!🌵

We loved this place! Not only are the signs really interesting, but they are presented in an eye pleasing manner. The owners are super nice and it was so exciting to hear the plans they were working on to expand the museum. There were lots of ways to interact with the displays and we really enjoyed the neon demonstration. I will never look at neon the same way again!

Unique and interesting! Really friendly folks who own this museum, too. Call ahead to find out when there will be a free demonstration on how neon glass tubes are heated and formed; it's really interesting and enjoyable!

Being taught how lighted signs work was pretty interesting and they have a fun little machine to make your own "sign". Unfortunately all of the interesting items are in pictures in the Google reviews so you're not missing out on much. The owners seemed exceedingly bored, kept hovering over us anytime we went into a new room. Kinda Fun experience but it's not someplace that you'd go to twice

Came across the Ignite Sign Art Museum as we were looking to fill a little time Saturday morning. What a great little gem with a growing collection in history of neon signs, signs and memorabilia. Spending the majority of my career in the OOH adverting space I found this very interesting tour but so did my family. There are numerous interactive activities including how to make a neon sign. Well worth the stop. The owner, Jude Cook and his wife, were great to talk with as well. Jude and his team were working on the back outdoor area getting ready for a car show and display area with some oversized signs including the Arby’s sign. I encourage everyone to stop by the museum.

Great look into the past with vintage signs of neon and wonderful information concerning the process of how they do that magic!!!

I visited the Museum this past Saturday January 15th and was TOTALLY amazed. I was lucky to see the demonstration of how the glass is bent and to learn neon vs argon in the production. I bought a brick that will etched with my Blakely Gas Station reference and placed into the sidewalk. I am also ordering a sign for my home saying "Blakely Gasoline Museum" since I have so many Blakely items at my home. If you go, you really need to spend 3 to 4 hours there because there are sooooo many interesting goodies there besides signs.

Great place to see neon and other signs and learn about how neon sign work and how to bend glass used in neon signs. Everyone here is very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time wondering around.

Very cool place. Lots of old signs that work. Glass show was interesting. Learned about how they create the neon and got to take the piece home. They also have arts and crafts with neon.

Would definitely recommend to anyone that loves classic neon signs or 1950s kitsch. The preservation of actual signage is a labor of love by volunteers and there are replicas of some of Tucson's most historic signs. There are also interactive displays and good descriptions of each item seen.

I really enjoyed this place. I love to collect museum experiences as I call them. This place was smaller but had a lot to offer. They had demonstration at the time we went a Friday. Also have an awesome little gift shop. The staff are beyond friendly and helpful. You really should check this place out. So very worth it. Trust me.

If you have lived in Tucson for more than a decade then this place will give you all the nostalgic feels. If you are visiting Tucson you will get a great experience of tucson's history through neon. So many of tucson's signs have been preserved and displayed. When a historic sign could not be acquired they made a beautiful small scale replica along with plenty of info and history behind the signs. Do not miss out on this museum while you are in town. Bonus points for the nicely air conditioned areas of the museum, not everything is outside, they have a very large warehouse area with some surprisingly large pieces in there. They also hold neon sign making classes where you end up with a piece to take home with you at the end. Super cool!

Ignite is a rare find. This shop / display / museum is a great contribution to this great nostalgic, electonic art history. Chuck is an amazing artisan, intelligent teacher and interesting historian in the realm of physics, engineering, and workmanship. We loved this experience so much.

This is a fantastic museum! Definitely check them out if you're in the area. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, and they gave a great neon glass bending demonstration! I also talked with them about a few of the preservation projects they're working on around the state, which is pretty cool too.

We were expecting a small museum with a few items, but we were pleasantly surprised to find great signage, a lot of signs, many rooms, and hands on displays. There was a glass tube bending demonstration that was very entertaining and educational. The scavenger hunts were entertaining and added a lot to our understanding and appreciation. Cool museum!

Such a cool and unique museum. Got a neon sign making demonstration from Chuck who was so great. The woman at the front was so kind. Highly recommend!

This place is so neat and fun! The woman was really friendly and nice to talk to, she loved my puppy and gave him treats and let us explore as I waited for my car to be worked on at a nearby shop. They even have a scavenger hunt! And do workshops occasionally. I can’t wait to have more time to go back and see more of the museum. It’s not just signs, it’s fonts too. As a design nerd, I really enjoyed this museum!

This place was so fun to walk through and very interactive! Several hunts to do at the door throughout the museum and games in the larger last part to sit down and enjoy. It was super cool to see parts of Tucson’s past not seen in a long time and it brought back a lot of memories. We will definitely go again and are going to share this gem with more people. ❤️

This place brightened my rainy day visit to Tucson. The family-run neon sign museum was founded in 2018 out of a history of sign-making, neon art passion and collecting signs over the decades. The result was housing them on display in this warehouse in the downtown area for the benefit of the public. You won't miss the bright orange colored building once you get to the industrial neighborhood. There is parking available on site too. The family has done a great job with describing the history of signs, showing where the signs are from and incorporating a fun interactive scavenger hunt game that you can participate in also....great for adults and children alike. Other neon sign interactive displays and games are through out the museum, which make it more than just a place to "look" at the art form. The owner also does an hourly neon bending demonstration, which should not be missed. The Ignite store also featured unique retro Tucson, desert and sign art gifts that you may want to consider the next time you need something fun to brighten up your day or someone else's.

You can spend several hours here learning about Tucson history and enjoying the trip down memory lane through the beautiful and unique signs and fascinating related memorabilia. We certainly did! It's easy to find, just a block or two off a major road, in an area of small industrial businesses. Plenty of parking on site. You'll find a clean, organized warehouse full of treasures and a hostess who is a font of information. We even were able to view a demonstration of neon glass making -- incredible precision and art! Cool gift shop, too. We combined our visit ti Ignite with a stroll around the warehouse district (about a mile away--drive) and its art galleries. A nice afternoon of touristing! We're glad we stopped.

Very interesting items in this place, but the place is kind of small.

  • 5/5 James R. 4 years ago on Google
This is a really neat place, especially if you're dazzled by colors, lights, and fonts. Ignite preserves historic neon signs from around Tucson along with some modern-day signs that were otherwise set for destruction. There are a lot of interactive displays as well. If you've ever visited the Neon Boneyard in Vegas, you know many of those signs no longer light up. At Ignite, most of the signs are in working order and are lit up. The majority of the museum is indoors, but there is an outdoor portion with more signs on display. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you get the opportunity to talk with them, they'll share a lot about the art of sign making, neon-tube bending, etc. Definitely recommend this experience.

Had an awesome time checking this place out and learning a bit about the process of creating and restoring neon signs from Jude, the owner. Definitely worth a trip down from Phoenix or a stop if you're swinging through Tucson. I wish this place the best!

Awesome place to have a party

  • 5/5 Molly B. 4 years ago on Google
This place is a great find! There were many informative signs throughout describing the history of various lighting options (LED, neon, etc.) and/or the history of famous road signs around Tucson. Jude, the owner, was working on a piece in the back as we toured around, and he spent twenty minutes or so explaining some concepts to us in greater depth. Really fascinating! Lots of great items in the gift shop too, including nice jewelry and art work.

VERY informative, VERY interesting. A husband and wife decided that Tucson needed a Neon Sign museum, so they made it happen. They work hard every day to bring this dream to reality, and their work shows. You can learn everything there is to know about all kinds of signs (including neon signs), and about the history of signs in Tucson. This is a one-of-a-kind place and a treasured jewel. HIGHLY recommended to ALL visitors to Tucson.

If you're a local, you'll find signs or reproductions of signs that will bring back memories–and by supporting the museum you'll also be supporting the preservation of Tucson's remaining examples of twentieth-century sign art, both neon and non, as the museum's owners are very involved in that project. Whether a local or a visitor, you'll learn about the history of sign art from painted through electric-bulb, neon, and LED, and come away with more appreciation of the retail "landscape" you see every day. The museum is pitched for an all-ages audience, with hands-on displays and educational activities that older kids can try, and lots of things that blink and make noise and move to interest the littlest ones.

Ignite is fascinating, a trip down memory lane and just plain fun! It's fun to play with the interactive signs in every area of the museum. The authentic neon signs that I remember from growing up in the 60's and beyond are carefully and faithfully re-ignited and displayed in all their glory. Where else can you see neon glass being shaped right in front of you? The gift shop alone is worth visiting regularly. Ignite is a Tucson gem that shines brightly.
