Historic Canoa Ranch is an awesome place. The 2-acre pond is absolutely beautiful and the adjoining cienega attracts many species of birds. In the Fall, Winter, and Spring, there are numerous waterfowl on the pond.

For nature and bird watchers this place is amazing. We visited several times while visiting family and were rewarded with a wide variety of birds each time.

Since moving to Green Valley from the Pacific Northwest, I have been coming here almost daily at dawn. It is one of my favorite places to experience nature and solitude. The staff here and Pima County in general, do an excellent job with upkeep, and the easy access to the DeAnza trail is perfect. In addition to all the birds at the lake itself, on the well maintained trail, we have encountered a large herd of deer, heard coyotes(and seen them cross in front of us) and other wildlife too numerous to count.

This is a really beautiful location with a lot of interesting history. Theyโ€™re in the process of getting it all fixed up and often have special events there too. Itโ€™s a really quiet and pretty place to spend a few hours. Ask for a tour if you really want the full experience. The staff and stewards are super friendly.

This is a beautiful place to stretch the legs, walk the dogs, have a picnic, bird watch, and enjoy the mountain views reflected in the pretty lake. Only 4 stars due to the constant noise from the nearby I-19, but that is how most people get here to enjoy it. It can be ignored after getting use to it.

My husband and I go often and sit by the big pond. It is peaceful, beautiful, calming in a world that is turbulent right now. And I love to see the vistas and the ducks..

It's a wonderful place to go to watch and photograph birds. Canoa Ranch is one of the best ebird hotspots in Pima County. Many of the birds are habituated to people and allow people to approach closely. The attached photo was taken with a cell phone. It's also a great place to walk your dog and not far from my home so I'm at Canoa Ranch at least once a week.

Great collection of artifacts and neat buildings. Lots of history here. I hope they open the big house eventually but they have done a great job renovating the buildings you can entry.

Shaded picnic areas and a large pond. Ranch house and grassy area are gated and acces is restricted to posted hours. Area is great for bird watching. Lots of riparian insects and bullfrogs as well.

Very pretty. I think it's going to be very hot later on, so now is the best time to visit. All of the trees are quite young which means no shade. There are lots of birds and ducks. It's nice.

Went to see an exhibition of quilts. Really enjoyed the place. There were many more quilts than I expected. They were in most of the buildings. I also saw some of the buildings that were still showing the history of the ranch. It's a very interesting way to spend a few hours and immerse yourself in the ways our ancestors lived.

I only explored the lake and pollinator garden,so I cannot speak to the other facilities, but the area is serene and beautiful. The lake has a walking path that surrounds it with benches and ramadas along the way. The views to the east are incredible. There are placards on many of the trees and bushes giving details. The main access point even had a very long checklist for visitors to mark off any birds they had seen during the visit. This was an unexpected find just a mile from the rest area. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs if only passing through.
