The largest railway workshop in Bangladesh is located in Saidpur of Nilphamari district. It is called Saidpur Railway Workshop. The Saidpur Railway Workshop established in 1870 and it was the major railway workshop for Assam-Bengal railway. But at present this railway workshop has lack of skilled manpower. However, there are continuous repair and construction of train engines and compartments. This railway workshop is one of the most attractive tourist attractions of Saidpur. Apart from weekly and government holidays, lots of tourists visit this workshop everyday.

Saidpur railway workshop is one of the two railway workshops in Bangladesh (the other being Pahartali railway workshop in Chittagong) where maintenance and repair of Railway coaches and Wagons are done. It is also the largest railway workshop of the country.

Saidpur railway workshop was found in 1870 at the then British period. There were 26 workshops. This is not only a railway workshop but also it is a railway museum. A lot of old engines are here science the British period. In front of the administration building, there is an abandoned train engine was built in 1901 by a British company Vulcan. This train ran with a great proud from stations to stations by years by years gorgeously. But now its a history and a showcase. Last time it ran in Bagerhat to Rupsha route. So that I have told it as a railway museum.

The largest train and train parts repairing and making workshop in Bangladesh. It has machineries of British period with very large area and huge amount of workers. General people or students can enter here by taking permissions form the authority and can gather many knowledges.

It is the largest repairing workshop of rail in Bangladesh. By entering here one can gather knowledge about rail. Without permission none can enter here. If anyone wants to enter here, contact with authority before coming this workshop. In 1870 this workshop was established. The manpower of this workshop is decreasing day by day. Authority should take initiative step to get back tradition of this workshop.

I saw youtube that everyone recommend this place to see. But there no opportunity to enter outside people. I requested them to see inside entrance for 10 minutes. But they refused it. My question is that if I can't enter this place why everyone recommend it to visit. You should take concern visiting this place
