I heard from many people for a few years Val’s is the place for great burgers and fries. Nothing special when it comes to the building and no dining. That’s fine, cause the take out only food is well worth the stop. We finally experienced Val’s for our first time driving north to Wadena. French fires were my favorite. The burgers were good. It’s a unique tasty experience. I expect we will go back again when we are in St. Cloud.

Seriously these were some of the best cheese burgers I've ever had. I've driven past Val's for 7 years and I've never stopped and after having the cheeseburgers, fries and milkshake this evening, I vowed I will never miss an opportunity to have a Val's meal again. The burgers are juicy, tender, delicious, and well made. The fries are crispy with the perfect amount of salt. The milkshake was incredible as well. Do not miss an opportunity to try Val's if you ever have a chance.

We stopped as we were passing through. So glad we did! Beyond friendly service, staff knew regulars by name and made personal connections with them. Asked us what we had going on for the day- very kind. Food went above our expectations. Fun experience, fun people, amazing food.

Pricing is very affordable. Great food and shakes. There is a wait time so I recommend calling ahead or ordering online. Disappointed that their large fries are getting smaller and smaller. Been going here for 10 years and their portions use to be insane!

Perhaps one of the best burgers I have ever had. I can't get over how each bite is juicy and so delicious. They must have some magic secret. I think I would drive from the cities to Saint Cloud for just one of their burgers. They use simple and quality ingredients. They don't offer tomato. Their fries and shakes are fantastic too! I am very impressed and will be back again and again.

I was in town on business so I thought based on the reviews I would give Val's a try. I was disappointed. The burgers were adequate, but nothing special. I have had better. The positive is that the fries were very good. I ordered and paid for a triple cheeseburger, but didn't receive any cheese. I placed the order using their computer kiosk. I followed the instructions ordering a triple cheese burger. I chose no ketchup, no mustard, no pickles, no onions and their computer called it a plain. I also ordered a double hamburger, also being called a plain. When I received my order, I added a small fries. When I returned to my hotel room I began eating. The first one I unwrapped had three patties, but no cheese so I thought I received a triple hamburger instead of a double. When I unwrapped the next one it was a double hamburger, no cheese. Where's the cheese for the triple?

One of my favorite places to eat, it's so cheap which is nice because I come from a pretty poor family. It gives off such retro vibes which I love. The food is amazing overall its just one of the best.

Do not recommend burger was horrible guessing soybean burger and was small. Also got chicken sandwich was no different than deli express chicken sandwiches. Fries were good but to salty to eat.strawberry Milkshake was some gross syrup tasting stuff. Threw all away will never go back.

If you're looking for a decent basic burger for not too much money then this is the right place. Certainly not fancy burgers, not big burgers and the fixings they put on it is less than impressive, but it beats McDonald's and the prices seem fair. That's pretty good in my opinion. I just got a triple burger and a cappuccino milkshake. The burger was fine. It wouldnt be fair to compare with a big fancy smokehouse burger you can get at a good BBQ restaurant or even a Wendy's Baconator. But for a local mom and pops business serving cheap burgers its great! I give it a solid 4 stars and i think that's reasonable. I went there at peak lunch hour on a Monday and it was packed. Very crowded little building which sucked, but they made the food fairly fast. We waited about 10-15 mins. There is parking but not alot of space when it's lunchtime rush hour. Other than that i was satisfied.

Amazing food and milkshakes for a relatively low cost! Very small retro take out only burger joint. There is no seating, so prepare to eat in the car or take it home. Definitely the best tasting American fare in the area though.

Val's has great food for very low prices. It's become a staple for us in town and a place that we know will be a great lunch every time we eat from here. The fries are uniquely seasoned and I really enjoy them! I recommend ordering ahead, sometimes the wait can feel a bit long if you're in the lobby due to the amount of customers. It's a cute little place, and the milkshakes are also very good.

Affordable dive for burgers, fries and milk shakes. No seating. If you have a smartphone, I'd order online otherwise they have 2 self service ordering kiosks inside. A cup of water was the same price as a soda. I'd suggest a double burger at a minimum as the bun to burger ratio is a little high on a single. Fries were kinda dumped in the bag. This place is small but they crank the orders out. Most people ate in their cars in the parking lot.

This has been on my saved list for a while. Found myself in Saint Cloud and decided to try it and mad I didn't try it sooner. We each ordered bacon double cheeseburgers with fries. The burgers were perfectly cooked and we absolutely delicious. The fries were exactly how I like them, hot and salty. If you don't like a lot of salt, let them know but it was perfect for me. Price was unbeatable and the service was great. They were slammed when we went but the food came out quickly and efficiently. They were generous with the fries and the chocolate shake was also great! I will be back. Be advised, there is nowhere to sit.

Visiting from out of state I heard this place is a cornerstone of St. Cloud and now I understand why. The burger and fried were delicious. I can tell that all the food was put together by someone who cares about what they serve(which is rare these days) One of their shakes perfectly roubded out the meal. This place has an amazing small town nostalgic feel that is almost as satisfying as eating their burgers. I will make it a point to come back when I come back to MN.

Amazing! The french fries are like McDonald's but better. My one complaint, though, was that they were VERY salty. I'm not sure if that particular batch was made with a heavy hand or if this was an anomaly. If this is always the case, order the fries unsalted and put your own on! The burger was great very tasty. I would definitely come back here on my travels. PS - call ahead or order online.

Authentic retro fast food burger joint. Burgers are small, so order more than one. Strawberry shake was a good size and went great with the burger. I didn't have fries, so can't offer an opinion on those. Orders can be placed online, at the computer kiosk, or at the register. Staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are low Interior was clean, but lacked any character or vintage elements. There is no inside dining. Exterior could use a few picnic tables, plants, or something to make it more attractive. I'd order lunch there again but won't plan on eating on-site.

It's been a very long time since I had the opportunity back to Val's. Nothing has change. Good burgers with good price. I ordered the double cheese burger and a fish burger with regular size fries. Place was packed so I put in the order via kiosks and waited for a text when food is ready. Burger thumbs up, fish sandwich thumbs up. Fries were good, hot and crispy but was overly salty. I'd probably get no salt next visit. Overall good food for good price.

This is a step back it time. Food was what you would expect for a $6 burger and fries. Better than what you’ll get at a fast food joint these days and the staff was friendly and food came out quickly. Would recommend for anyone looking a quick and simple meal that doesn’t break the bank.

Moved to the east coast and this is still the best burger and fries ever. Can’t wait to go back to Minnesota to eat at this place again, simple but always perfect. Shakes are delicious too.

This place is great. Just be prepared for a wait due to how popular the place is. It's a tight fit, but they send you a text when your food is ready so you can hang out outside or in your vehicle as you wait. Food tastes great, and it's not crazy expensive like other places have gotten. They also have quite a few fun shake flavors like pumpkin.

Ordering is quick and easy. They have a touch screen by each door. You just tap what you want. You get a numbered bill, then you wait til they call your number, pay and go. You can call in or order on line also. You may have to wait a few minutes for your order, but it's always fresh. The fries are always hot and crispy and you get a very generous portion. Staff is always busy, but friendly. They all work very hard.

It was my first time. The burgers are about the size of a fast food burger. There are all kinds of options to add to your order and it's really easy. You can add more beef patties, etc. The fries are delicious and go great with dipping them in your yummy shake. You go in or order online. When inside, there's a kiosk at each door where you can place your order. If it's packed inside, you can just go wait in your car for a text.

This is one of those places we make an effort to visit when we are in the area. I have friends who attended SCSU then moved hundreds of miles away, they still make the trip just for Val's! Real ingredients, lots of flavor, filling, and reasonably priced. I enjoy the old fashioned feel. On this last visit it was extremely delicious, and a little less greasy perhaps? We branched out and tried the chicken sandwich, it was flavorful, crispy, and filled the bun perfectly. Exceeded our expectations! We love Val's. Best part is the fries!

Best French fries in Minnesota & great burgers and shakes. Old fashioned Midwest fast food. Great staff. Building & set-up are not fancy but unique. No dine in. If you like vintage stuff, go check it out!

We are from nearby Alexandria and had never heard of it. We Got out food so fast it blew my mind, even though it was super bust. The prices were super reasonable. The portions were large, and the quality was great. We heard people talking in line and the place has been there since 1959. We're definitely going back. The milkshakes were incredible.
