Property is beautiful. Nice manager. This about the only positives I can list. The pool is wonderful, but 2 out of the seven days there was a hip hop DJ playing extremely loud distorted club music. Food is not up to par and the service is horrible. I feel sorry for the manager. She was trying her best, but her employees made it clear we were a bother. They need to decide what type of resort they want to be. It has potential to be a destination property, but Not yet. I cannot recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Fred for a month this past March! The place was fantastic, we had so much fun. The food was so so, too bad you don't get what you pay for, because they're very expensive. Tim made our mornings... We could smell that coffee brewing and boy did we appreciate him. Karen was fantastic, she made sure things got done. I was disappointed after spending a month there, that she was no where to be found to say goodbye to. I think she hid from me. The housekeeping service was great! Those girls work so hard and were so sweet! I look forward to going again. Elvira and Steven

I live on STX and have been to Sunday Brunch here several times. This time will be the last. While the hotel itself is beautiful and the aesthetics are amazing, the restaurant needs serious help. To start with, their drinks are HORRIBLE and take FOREVER. The food is actually pretty good normally, if you don't mind starving to death while waiting for it! In the past, I have been able to overlook the slow service due to the atmosphere and their chicken and waffles. However, this last Sunday, when I went there with 5 other people to celebrate our friend's birthday, was TERRIBLE. To start with, the "manager" of the restaurant acted "put out" and hateful when we asked to sit at a table near the water. Yes, it was a smallish table for 6 people; but, we told her we understood and that we didn't mind crowding up. She still made negative comments and told us we would have to find more chairs, which were all about. She did in fact end up bringing us 2 more chairs, but what's with the attitude? Then, she told us the server was really busy and we would have to wait awhile before being served. {why couldn't she at least take our drink orders?) We were fine with that. However, the wait was longer than we expected so we went to the bar to at least order some drinks to start with. She was at the bar and told us to go back to our table to order as our server was on the way to take our drink orders. The server was in fact, NOT on her way and we waited an additional 20 minutes to order drinks. The drinks for 6 people took over 20 minutes to arrive at our table. We were finally able to order only to be told they were basically out of 1/2 of the items on the menu. We ordered 6 shots for the table and waited 30 minutes to be told they did not have the liqueur needed to make the shots. When our food FINALLY came, it was a BIG disappointment. The steak and eggs, which is $24.00 was basically 4 SMALL slices of dried out steak, 2 eggs, a TINY portion of home fries and 2 slices of bread! For $24.00! Then, the server was VERY adamant about us ordering in a specific order due to split checks. She STILL did not know who had what when it came time for the bill. Additionally, we were charged a 20% gratuity for this nonsense. It's a shame what has happened to this place. It's under new ownership and they need to do better. If you want a GREAT experience for Sunday brunch in Frederiksted, go to Sand Castle, the drinks are on point, the food is amazing and the service is wonderful.

The restaurant service is not good. The first time we went, we were ignored for about 30 minutes. When we were finally served, the food was okay. The Banana Hammock is a great drink. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back another day for a second time. Again, ignored and we were sitting at the bar. There were workers sitting at a table right outside of the bar looking at us but no one bothered to get up, welcome us, take our order, say someone will be right with us, nothing. So we left. I get that places are short staffed, but when you have customers sitting at the bar, and you see them and are looking at them, it is so rude to not even acknowledge them. I am so glad we didn’t actually stay here and only went for food and drinks.

Vegetarians beware!!! This restaurant is not vegetarian friendly at all. I ordered a beyond burger and a beet root salad (the only two vegetarian options on the menu). The beyond burger patty felt like it was straight out of freezer. Not cooked at all. The veggies seemed frozen too. Couple of times I felt like throwing up. The food was so atrociously bad. The beets in the beet root salad were half cooked and cold (but they felt like they had been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days). The chocolate cake was super old. Not fresh at all. Not to mention the place was grossly overpriced for such beyond pathetic food.

Mosquitoes, sand flies and bugs will attack you. This property doesn’t do treatments to keep bugs away. Rooms are small and the air condition was not cold enough. There was limited food choices and the food available was pricey and awful. Not all rooms had a view. You will have to go out of your room to get an ocean view but you’ll be attack by mosquitoes. I would not recommend this hotel.

Beautiful location. Amenities were everything we expected. Loved the history. As with many hospitality facilities the shortage of staff was apparent but not to the point slight adjustments and being a bit more self sufficient detracted from enjoying the stay.

Went there for dinner.. it was nothing special. Very slow service and the food took forever to come out. Not really worth the wait. When asked about the desserts, the server made me get up and go to the front of the restaurant to look in the dessert case instead of just telling me the options. Beautiful views but lots of mosquitos. Probably won’t go back, there are better options on the island.

One of the best fried Red Snapper ever tasted! Probably the best place to chill, have a drink and some food, while looking atbthe sunset, in St. Croix!

We visited the The Fred for a cultural night and boy they did not disappoint. The food was excellent!! It was right on the beach!! The music and island history was top notch. There were fire breathers and men on stilts dancing to the drums. The emcee who gave us a taste of St. Croix history was knowledgeable and engaging. The hotel staff were courteous and friendly. When I come back to St. Croix, I definitely want to stay at The Fred.

Didn’t get the chance to stay in their hotel, but our visit was fantastic. The pool and hot tub looked beautiful, the aesthetic was one of the best in the island. That all being said, we LOVED the restaurant. The view is unbeatable and the food was delicious. The bar is spacious and the staff was very friendly. Would you 100% come again. In fact, we plan to come back again for a day pass!

Staying at The Fred was a perfect combination of luxurious accommodation and casual vibes. Dalia at the front desk, Jaleesa at the bar, and Bones working the kitchen, were all wonderfully hospitable and friendly staff. Nice variety of food and drinks. The view from every corner is beautiful.

We came here when it very first opened, loved it even though there were no food options. Today we were there for the mothers day brunch. The DJ was excellent. The food took over an hour to make it to our table. Sister in law had chicken and waffles👎. Chicken was Waaaaaaaaay over cooked and dry. Waffles were just Ok. I had a frittata that was supposed to have lobster in it. It had MAYBE 4 little pieces. We waited a good 30 min before a server actually greeted us. Spent too much for what it was. Not happy at all with the service and food. Disappointing.

We only ate at the restaurant. The food and drinks were fabulous. You could tell it was freshly made with high quality ingredients. Now the service on the other hand left much to be desired. I would suggest more customer service training and how to be timely with your orders. The ambience was great. Really good for taking cool pictures.

This review is for the restaurant…. I have eaten here 3 times and the service is not good at all. I think it’s unfortunate because the food is good but the service is hurting the good work they do in the restaurant. Horrible service, no menu online , the phone for the restaurant seems to work whenever they feel like … I think the chefs are not getting the recognition they deserve because of the horrible service. You can’t even order over the phone, no menu and they never pick up the phone

We stopped for a drink and stayed for several and a flat bread pizza. Tim our server was great, thanks Tim for an enjoyable day. We would come back to stay sometime for sure. Beautiful property.

Awesome, quiet location. Beautiful view. Beautiful rooms. Food was really slow coming out of the kitchen, but I loved their breakfast menu. It is so easy to relax with no kids running around! Overall, a great experience.

Our friends who have been living on the island for a few months recommended this hotel and it's super nice. I really enjoyed it because it is a small hotel but has a lot of open spaces and even with other guests there it doesn't feel too packed. The views from the bar hotel are awesome and breathtaking. The rooms were very clean and the beds were super comfy! I struggle sleeping on hotel beds and this one was amazing! The pool area is very relaxing and overall this is a great place to come as a couple. Not really suggesting it for families with little kids, maybe teenagers and for sure adults. The beach area is small but if you go in the off season it feels like your private beach and you can bring the drinks from the bat to the beach as they are just steps away from it. At the hot bar, you can ask them for snorkeling gear and you can snorkel around. There is a pier walking distance that they told us is a great area for snorkeling and you can see a lot of sea horses there. We were not able to make it that day. The beach access is a bit difficult because of some old reefs but once you are in then it's pretty nice and relaxing. It feels a bit weird being there as you are literally feet away from open water and nothing in sight. The hotel was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I really appreciate them and how helpful they were with our needs. They have activities during the weekends/week days and they host cultural nights with food pairing and the different themes. They have a restaurant inside the hotel, we didn't try it but I was looking at the food from other guests and I could hear them complimenting the food plus it looked very tasty! Overall I highly recommend it 🔥🔥🔥

I had a nice room with ocean view. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room was cute and cleaned daily, and the view was great--each room has a shared balcony/sitting area in front. The pool was one of the few I've been in on the island that's actually heated, which was nice, and the hot tub was nice. The food and cocktails were just okay, but the staff was incredibly friendly. Also, the hotel is just a short walk from lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. The pier is a great place to get certified for scuba diving, and Rainbow Beach isn't far away. Would definitely stay here again.

Stopped in after the beach for drinks with my aunties at the Fred. Drinks so strong, they'll put you to bed. I highly recommend the Banana Hammock.

😐 The staff was unwelcoming and cold. The young lady at the counter was unfriendly and unhelpful as a result my order was wrong. The food was decent the frappe was delicious. The customer service was nonexistent. I expected more as it was my first time there.

👍👍 Best pizza on the island, and some of the best I have had outside of Italy. Drinks were very generous and cheap. Pizza was not cheap, but worth every penny. Definitely a local atmosphere. 😠 Definitely a local bar! Which in many cases can be great! On this visit came in for dinner and drinks! Greeted by the bartender for our party of five with menus tossed on the table.
