This was our second stay with Sandals, first time at the St.Lucia and our second and recent stay at the Antigua. From arrival to the airport there were no signs or representative from Sandals. When we arrived to the Club to check in, no welcome drinks or any snacks offered. Not very pleasant service at the club . Our room was on the Caribbean beach front, very old, and dated, reflecting a two star resort. Spoke to the hotel Manager on duty but he was not able to relocate us since we would be moving rooms every two nights. No follow up from management for duration of our stay. Next day after arrival we wanted to secure our dinner reservations for the duration of our stay and we were told all restaurants are totally booked . We went back next day and the girl was able to get us in one restaurant of our choice. Note, you are unable to book reservations till you arrive on property. Ran out of shampoo called room service twice and finally after two days end up getting our shampoo. There were a lot of friendly employees that have made us feel welcome but when comparing to St. Lucia it came short in every respect. Beach service was very good but we had to get up at 7am to put towels on the beach as all chairs under umbrellas were always taken. Overall based on our recent experience this property is a 3 star resort. We will go back to Sandals as we like the concept but not to Antigua.

Extremely disappointing as our Honeymoon could have been perfect, if it wasn't for Sandals. We won't ever stay there again. To start with the positives, there was plenty to be pleased about. The rooms were good and well-maintained, and the location is right on the pristine beach, which is stunning. However the hotel itself is dated and tired. Staff were extremely surly and often unpleasant, rarely even speaking to you when you order a drink at the bar. They'd just point at you when it was your turn to order, and serve you in silence. Great service! The main pool had an 18/30's vibe to it, with beer pong competitions and the like happening daily, so it was rowdy and not very relaxing. Getting towels was a challenge, as was finding a sun lounger! Thankfully there are smaller and quieter pools available throughout the hotel, but they filled up quickly. The worst thing was the food - absolutely awful. Avoid if you don't like nine restaurants all serving the same fried food. Vegetables were treated like some kind of rare, rationed substance, the desserts didn't taste of anything at all, and there was nothing local served at all. Where was the fresh mango, pineapple, kiwis, limes, papaya?! We were in the Caribbean! What's with all the damn American food? Come on Sandals! What really disappointed though was learning that Sandals don't employ any of the locals at all. They don't buy local produce and they import everything from Jamaica, including staff and booze (that they subsequently water down!) Everything they do is designed to make money and reduce overheads/costs, whilst exploiting the locals. I'd never stay with them again, despite all the financial benefits of staying in an all-inclusive resort. Avoid.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The views are more than amazing. Me and my family went for a cousins trip and for the most part we enjoyed ourselves. Some of the rooms could use an update. Everything was all inclusive. I definitely do not recommend this place for single people. Definitely wonderful for couples. The entertainment each night was pretty fun, the food was okay. There were times that they were out if breakfast food at some of the restaurants and the staff seemed to be inconvenienced when we asked for more. The Butlers were a little bit of a disappointment. The ones we had forgot to set up my aunts room for her surprise birthday party, they let food/dirty dishes sit outside the door for hours. At times it did seem as if some of the staff did appreciate our presence (13 black American women) I was sitting on the beach just for security to tell me that I needed to move because the seats were for resort guest only and after I advised her I was a guest, she asked me my room number and proceeded to follow me until another security guard who knew I was a guest said something. The bartenders were awesome and The Drunken Duck was my favorite place there. The man who paints in the lobby is so talented. The tours were awesome. I'd definitely recommend this place again but I would definitely go with someone special not for a girls trip.

My wife and myself recently stayed at the Antigua Sandals , arrived 9/8/22. The food was great, the staff could not have been friendlier. The property was spotless and beautiful. We stayed at the Sandals in Jamaica in 1985 and we had great time. This stay was even better. I would not go to any other all inclusive, no matter what the price may be. Drinks and bar staff are unbelievable. Fabulous job. We will be back. Tom & Barb Gresh

Another amazing Sandals Resort. We have the opportunity to visit this one during the pandemic and almost have the resort to ourselves. It felt good to be able to help the local economy of Antigua in a moment that it was almost nothing going on. This resort have so much to offer from their restaurants, facilities, amazing beach and the excellent customer service of their people this was definitely an unforgettable opportunity. If you're curious about Sandals Resorts I will advice you to give Sandals Grande Antigua a chance you would not be disappointed. This place is a piece of paradise.

I can’t say enough amazing things about this resort. This was mine and my husbands honeymoon, and our first time at any Sandals resort. I truly have no idea what people have to complain about here, everything from service, food and the ease of having to COVID test for the trip home were too tier. Each meal was more delicious then the next. We stayed in the sunset bluff poolside room, which was clean and beautifully decorated. We honestly spent most of our time at the Main pool and the entertainment was great. Especially with Charity running the games! The gym is WONDERFUL and has such a huge array of equipment. The one thing I will say is, if you don’t have the butler service (we did not) we had to wake up at 6:30-7am to get a spot by the pool. We both said this was the most amazing vacation we have ever taken. The staff truly went above and beyond, and contributed so much happiness to our honeymoon! We will return.

The resort is beautiful. The beach and pool areas are great and well staffed and security is watching the beach area. Never had a bad meal. The restaurants and food are really good. The staff everywhere are amazing and hospitable. The Rondoval cabins are well located but old and outdated. But the butler service is great. We will go back!

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and had an amazing trip! Got to meet new friends, have good food and soak up the sun on the beautiful beach. We stayed a week in the Butler Elite Suite. Here are some things we learned about Sandals Antigua we wish we knew. In regards to food Soy was our favorite spot that we didn’t get to try until our last night. One of the places you don’t need a reservation. The Caribbean Dynamite Roll paired with their flavored sake was delish. We liked it much better than Kimonos who does the hibachi style. We felt there was not enough flavor in the food and no yum yum sauce (pink sauce, shrimp sauce, etc) offered. Mario’s has the best breakfast and an amazing dinner atmosphere. Eleanor’s had a good rack of lamb. We definitely recommend getting a butler room as they can handle and manage all of your reservations and makes your stay easier to enjoy yourself. The nightlife was alive and they always had something going on. The trivia in the pool and couples games were very fun to partake in. There are a lot of stray cats but we didn’t mind at all, added some authenticity and island life for sure. We will definitely be back!

    * Same generic response "from the owner" I have contacted customer support with no response. I forgot to mention in the review that I saw multiple cockroaches. Informed an employee that didn't seem to care as they stayed sitting and didn't get up to do anything to get rid of the cockroaches. Went to Sandals Grande Antigua for our honeymoon. There are many reasons why I rate it a 1 star. For Sandals they pride themselves in a "5 star resort" This is far from 5 stars. The staff are extremely unfriendly, our room was so out dated, the linens were terrible. The food was subpar. You could never get in touch with staff if you needed something. Yet they use an app but any time we requested water, towels, information they never brought it but always told us it was on the way. No bathrooms had paper towel, you could never find towels for the pool. The hurricane was expected to hit while we were at the resort. They shut down the entire resort because of this. Pools were closed, bars were closed, beach chairs were taken away. They sent the staff home so when the hurricane was not near the island, they couldn't reopen because they didn't have the staff. The sun was shining and we weren't allowed in the pool? How does this make sense. It was a beautiful evening but our dinner reservations were cancelled and we were being herd into a ballroom for a buffet. The resort does not have the proper contingency plans. If you can't function in these conditions do us a favour and close down for hurricane season so no one ever has to experience this. We were told to stay in our room until they said it was safe to come out. Yet, they forgot to tell us it's okay to come out. But the sun was shining outside? For the money you spend to go to a Sandals, you expect the "5 star" treatment they flaunt. We read reviews before booking our trip and saw some people had similar experiences, I wish we didn't blow them off thinking it was a one off. Just want to give everyone a warning. Don't waste your money. I have emailed Sandals customer support multiple times, with no response it leads me to write this review.

My husband and I were just in Antigua for our honeymoon. We stayed in the Mediterranean Romeo and Juliette butler suite and we absolutely loved it! This was our first Sandals experience and we would highly recommend it. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and the beach was pristine. We wanted to emphasize how amazing our butlers N’kozi and Marleen were. They really went above and beyond for us and were always available whenever we needed them. Also, the resort was able to accommodate our special dietary requirements for the duration of our stay at no additional cost. Thank you Sandals Antigua for the most memorable honeymoon!

Look this isn't true 5* luxury, it's mass market luxury all inclusive. and it definitely does the job for a great value week in the sun, escaping the harsh British winter weather! Knowing what to expect, we had a wonderfully pleasant stay on a truly beautiful beach. Our time at sandals hit the spot, but we would not rush back as we tend not to repeat hotels/destinations unless they are overwhelmingly special. Would we try another Sandals - maybe? We very rarely do 'all inclusive' and this was also our first Sandals. The resort itself is nicely spread out and it did not feel busy or congested (although be prepared to get up early to bag yourself a sunbed, particularly on the beach - or just pay for a butler to do it for you). The quality of the food was great. Portion sizes were reasonable to help avoid overeating, and for those who want to gorge there were snack stations with hot dogs, pizzas and burgers etc. the choice was plenty for our 7 days, and whilst I think it would have been fine for 10 days, I might have started getting a little bored if we were there for 2 weeks. The sushi restaurant was our favourite. Didn't really rate the Italian, but we're European and used to the real thing - not the fake American style Italian. All the staff were super friendly and very accommodating. You got a nice sense of the Caribbean flair and culture (we were staying in the Caribbean side which was perfect for us). The only real negative is the bedrooms are dated and could do with an update - there were minor niggles like our bathroom charge point not working, the bathroom vanity mirror was hanging onto dear life, as was the towel rack above the toilet - nothing that bothered us, but certainly noticeable and why I could not call this true 5* luxury (having experienced some pretty top notch hotels in the past. All in all we loved our holiday and are grateful for the experience Sandals provided.

Glad we decided on this location. It was definitely hard to leave after a week. Beautiful beach and resort. Everyone was very hospitable and pleasant. The resort was very well maintained. We tried all the restaurants on site and the food was top notch every time. Plenty of onsite events to keep us entertained but we also spent a fair bit of time relaxing at the beach and the pools. Would love to come back again but we may try another location first.

Amazing place, I give it 100 stars hands down. Wonderful people, great service, beautiful beach, good food at most restaurants except OK Coral. Room service is excellent and quick. House keeping was good too, not as good as we’d hoped, they do not clean out the jets in the jacuzzi tubs resulting in a lot of brown scum around the bathtub rim. Everything else was very clean, and we enjoyed our stay so much we would come back again tomorrow if we had the chance.

An older hotel with a lot of charm. The garden are magnificent and one of the best beach with white sand. It's a quite beach, not surfing type of waves. The service is great and the people nice. Great food. New year eve's show was so much fun.

We had been to a Sandals before and wanted to try another Sandals. We loved it in every way. Resort was clean and food was great. Location was good and resort was full but did not feel like it. Coming from a customer service back ground and trained with the best, Disney, Carlton Ritz, Lexus ect, I experienced good service. If I can make a few suggestions. All the staff need to make eye contact first and greet the guest first, not the other way around. Each morning the tall lady helping rake the beach, her employee was arguing with her. The guests should not hear this. The sushi restaurant was our favourite. The house cleaning staff doing the rooms did a great job each day. Next time I will try and stay 10 days. Not long enough.

My husband and I just spent 5 nights here and enjoyed every minute! We had previously been to the Sandals Grande St. Lucia which was phenomenal so we weren’t sure how the two would compare but we found they were very comparable, I’d say the only downfall with Antigua is the beach you have a lot more people trying to sell stuff but we spent most of the time by the main pool so it certainly didn’t damper our time there. We stayed on the Mediterranean side and we had no issues with our room. Every staff member we encountered was lovely and very welcoming. On our second day took advantage of the Spa and I highly recommend that. We also enjoyed the different food options around the resort! All in all we would return.

The room per se is incredible good however the shower needs to be better for a hotel like sandals. I stayed in the unit 516 with my wife and the shower pressure was really bad. However besides that, the hotel is really good with excellent service and food. A special recommendation for the Kimono restaurant and specifically with the Chef TB (Ted Bear). He’s excellent and very funny.

Sandals Antigua is a great first timer spot for people who love the beach, relaxation, and beautiful weather. The service is amazing as they truly care about their guests and actively try to do everything to ensure you have the best time. Our room was perfect with dual vanity sinks, soaker tub, ample room, and a nice little balcony overlooking the garden to the pool. The main pool was so much fun with activities every two hours and a swim up bar. The restaurants were overall very good with Soy and Mario’s as stand outs! The only outside Sandals excursion we did was go into town which was fun to walk around the shops for a couple hours. We also did the Sandals included snorkel trip which was perfect as its only two hours and the pick up and drop off is on the resort beach. The only downside is there is not much nightlife, but if your main goal is to be pampered and to soak in the sun this is the place to be!

We stayed in a Rondovol room and the only reason it did not get a 5 star was the bed was not very comfortable. New mattress is in order. I did hear they were working on updating some of the original buildings. We are so looking forward to returning here as this was so relaxing.

This was my first time at a Sandals, I was excited to go I have seen the commercials and was particularly interested in the Scuba. I have been diving since the 90's. To start off the room we stayed at was a pool walk out. Very out dated and the A/C did not work well at all. We had to keep asking for bath and hand towels. Rooms were cleaned at different times each day. No schedule, we walked in on them a few times and could not access our room. The pool and hot tub not impressive, the hottub was warm and not many jets. The pool filter was barely collecting any debris and best of all not nearly enough chairs. This i spoke to the front desk about and there was never any correction. Never enough towels as well. The beach was the same, never enough lounge chairs and the beach has children on it and locals. Not a big deal but if you are looking for no children this isnt it. The resort is a cat sanctuary. They are everywhere. At the dinning areas, by your rooms, they jump on tables. One was even drinking out of the milk dispencer that they leave on the tables each morning at the cafe. This was not on their website, so if you are allergic to cats dont go. Food is not 5 star, raw chicken brought to me, portion sizes small and menu descriptions different than what you get. Pan seared fish comes out as fried, Tiger Prawn shrimp comes out as small regular shrimp. No beach bar service or pool service, of course unless you pay an additional $99 for that services per day. As far as a quiet or even a dinner you may want to talk with others at the table stay away from Elenors, the bay cafe and the OK carral. The court yard where there entertainment for the night is in the center of it. They keep it so loud you cannot hold a conversation at the table, poor layout design. Scuba- a dissappointment. I scheduled diving first thing. I was asked when the last time i dove was. I respondend in july 2023. They wanted a log book, which i did not have. They wanted a dive computer which i had but the date was not accurate, my fault did not reset the date when i changed the battery. I did have time stamped pictures of me diving and the dive group i was with. They would not except it. I had my certification card and my DAN insurance card as well. So i did not get to dive, which was the reason i came. Excursion are expensive, we took the tour xtreme speed boat stingray city. Crew was excellent, friendly and fun. Seperated group into strong swimmers and weak swimmers. We were not forced to stay in a tight group was a good day. We then took the excellence catamaran cruise. Was the worst catamaran cruise i have been on. It was anything but relaxing. They took us into rough waters, my wife was clinging to the rail. We were soaked with waves, not what we signed up for nor what it explained in the brochure. "Layout out and relax" . The snorkeling was terrible, they herd you into a group, take you out of the cove to choppy waters, visibility was bad and the jaggered rocks were to close. One guy hit his head on the rocks had to be boated back and then 3 others couldnt handle the waters and were brought back to the catamaran via rescue boat. People hitting each other with fins and flailing arms. Horrible time. When i complained at the desk they were less than responsive. As i walked away the women told her coworker " what did he expect from the ocean". To sum it up not a five star, at least for us. Have stayed in nicer resorts for less money. The resort does not live up to the hype. One or 2 staff were friendly other than that the employees do not seem happy. I am sure i will get a management response apologizing and " we will look into it" but that will not make up for the dissappointing vacation we had. We booked this a year ahead and was looking forward to it only to be let down

After traveling all over the Caribbean, Sandals Antigua is my favorite. No complaints. Staff is over the top amazing. My husband and I often compare other resorts to this one(this includes 5 star hotels in Hawaii,Anguilla,Dominican republic, etc) and this is the place that we always feel our time and money was worth while.

As a first timer at Sandals, I was very happy with this location. The resort is beautiful, spread out enough that there is tons of privacy if you are wanting. The food at every place we went to was amazing, along with the service. I loved the roaming cats and visiting Samson and Delilah each morning before breakfast. There are tons of activities at the main pool to keep you entertained if you choose to stay in property. There is a tour desk in the courtyard with awesome options if you do plan to venture off property. Beautiful beaches and a rainbow every time it rained. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I loved this place. Our vacation was very relaxing and enjoyable. Everything was great to include the excursions from Island Routes. We loved the resort and the food was great as well. After playing volleyball in the sand we went over by the pool bar to play water volleyball and then just relax. We would definitely go again.

Visited September 2022. Read the google reviews before coming. I was so worried based on them. BUT WOW anyone who gave this a bad review is a hater. This resort was full of amazing staff, great views, great food, great drinks. Overall 10/10 would recommend. Definitely go club level. Definitely wake up and put towels in your chair to secure a spot. Definitely worth it all!

First time at a 5-star all-inclusive resort. Definitely for adults only. There were plenty of activities to do for free that kept us entertained, and plenty more of you’re willing to pay. The pictures are expensive, but they were worth it. Just note that the resort is not representative of the island and living there. I wish I had cash to explore a bit more. In any case, there are plenty of restaurants and alcohol to enjoy, and the people are nice. The service is top-notch; it’s convenient that you don’t have to tip, but a shame that they won’t let you tip. My regret is that I was only there for 3 nights. Definitely worth a week.

We enjoyed our trip overall, but we wouldn't return. Thankfully we had butler service which was incredible!! They were very attentive and made our trip enjoyable. The service at the restaurants was less than stellar. We rarely had a server that greeted us warmly or smiled. It seems the "no tips" policy gives little incentive for them to go the extra mile. We ordered room service one night and they NEVER showed. We tried calling the room service number after 30 mins and no answer repeatedly. The operator also couldn't get an answer. I spoke to the manager the next day and did receive an apology. She was going to speak to the food and beverage director, but we never heard from them. We waited up until 1am for the no show. Activities were limited. Weather was amazing!!!!!! Our suite was outstanding. (Romeo and Juliet Penthouse Butler Suite.)

A wonderful all inclusive hotel. It's the people who work here that make it a lovely place to come and enjoy. Bobby takes you on a nature walk around the hotel grounds it's a really interesting tour, and the ladies get a bouquet of flowers picked by Bobby from the flowers and plants that grow here .The snorkelling trips are amazing and I would highly recommend those trips. There's an array of trips from the hotel to do . I must mention the food and restaurants in the hotel absolutely superb all of them. But it's the wonderful people who work here everyone one of them so friendly. We will definitely come back

My wife and I are still here at sandals checking out today. The resort needs updating. We had a beachfront room smells like mildew. The service here is very, very poor. The best service we got was in the Mexican restaurant. We called the front Desk for things like soap, shampoo that they never refilled and it never came. It was our anniversary somebody came to the room and said we will come back and they never came back. I am a sandals, royalty customer I will never stay had another Sandals property. This property ruined it for me. The people are very rude. They don’t really care because they’re not getting tips. I asked for diet sprite. They said they were gonna get it never came. Definitely not premium liquor. The food was average nothing outstanding. I would rate this hotel 2.8 to 3 stars at its best. Alcohol drinks are horrible. Not every person is rude but majority of people don’t care at all. I have friends that are coming in for a week so I’m gonna tell them to cancel and go somewhere else. When it comes to housekeeping, they never mop the floor they never clean the glass doors They never vacuum very poor housekeeping. Very unsatisfied customer. Trust my review, I don’t sugarcoat anything. I travel everywhere and the best I would give it is a 3 star because of the beach. I see reviews of five star here totally false. When I checked out this morning, the guy asked me how is my stay from 1 to 10 I gave it a five just because of the beach and you’re on a nice island really should’ve been a three. Membership with sandals 7742427108947204. Just canceled. I was a member since 2005 no more

The resort is beautiful and there are many activities and restaurants. The staff is good overall, but there are staff members that go above and beyond. Leroy made sure we had everything we needed to get settled and we appreciated him. Some of the servers would disappear, we weren’t sure if they were being pulled to other locations, but it was odd. The housekeeping staff is practically invisible and does an outstanding job. The one downside is that you can’t make dinner reservations until you check in and Kimono’s and Evelyn’s fills up quickly.

First time to Sandals Antigua having holidayed usually in Jamaica (Beaches). Had a fantastic time. A lovely resort, lovely staff and lovely locals. The rooms were good and the restaurants plentiful and excellent (with a special mention to Violet at Eleanor's who was so helpful.) My wife and I are keen divers and the Dive team were an absolute pleasure - very thorough but equally great fun. Also, with a slightly shorter flight time from the UK of 8 hours and a twenty minute transfer, it made for a great break. We will definitely return.
