The Buccaneer Beach Resort! I am so happy I had an opportunity to stay there for 9days. I will start with front desk staff who are extremely efficient, pleasant, and helpful. All the staff are friendly on each encounter with all staff “from Stanley who will greet you with a smile and Mr. Reynolds, the Manager who is extremely professional and ensuring that my entire stay was comfortable. All the staff at this property go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I was able to experience it and see that they extended this hospitality to other guests. Most important as a woman traveling solo internationally my safety is priority. I felt safe and secure always at this resort. Next, I felt like I was in Heaven's Secret Garden! The resort is gorgeous, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk around. High quality rooms, comfortable bed and beautiful balcony. You have immediate access to the beach. The best experience was the access to multiple restaurants within walking distance. While the Buccaneer does not have a restaurant on site this was the perfect opportunity to experience the flavors and ambience each restaurant, meet great people and a Taste of Caribbean with locals. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Antigua.

We stayed at the Buccaneer for a fortnight from 30 Dec to 13 Jan 2022 as a family of four. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place without hesitation. The hotel is small, around 16 lodgings or thereabouts, so has a really quiet and cosy feel to it. They take a lot of care over the gardens and there are little boards telling you what each plant is etc. We aren’t wildlifey people but seeing hummingbirds by the pool was pretty cool. The pool is a good size and warm; it’s great to have the option to go for a freshwater swim instead of heading into the sea. There was never any difficulty getting a lounger by the pool and we were typically the only ones there. The hotel has a gate onto the beach and the loungers there are reserved for the hotel guests so, again, there’s always a lounger and umbrella available. The strip of beach is not massive but is sheltered and a perfect size and excellent for kids, much more so than the adjacent bits of beach. The sand is white and the water in January was lovely and warm, azure and clean. Just beside the beach is The Salt Plage beach bar (by day) restaurant (by night). It was a very handy resource and happy hour starts at 4:30, just before the sun starts to set. There are other restaurants within 100 yards, Ana’s and Putter’s being the closest. There’s a wee shop behind Ana’s where you can get first day shopping done. Our lodgings were by the pool, ground floor, so we could see the kids in the pool. They were clean and the kitchen had everything you’d need for 4 people. The fridge freezer and cooker, microwave etc were spotless. It’s the tropics so yes there are a few mozzies but literally a few, not lots, so not an issue and reception has lots of spray killer and repellent available. The kids slept on the sofa bed; it was fine for a 9 and 11 yr old but not advised for older kids. Our bed was great: big, comfy and lots of pillows. Air con in both the bedroom at living/ kitchen area worked well and was modern. Downsides? The walls are thin so you may hear people next door arguing but it wasn’t an issue for us. Don’t let it sway you, it’s a small and quiet hotel with guests who are typically older so the noise level is like a library. The loudest thing will be the birds at night. We would return to the Buccaneer without hesitation. I have to give a special thank you to the staff. We got married while we were in Antigua but not at the hotel. They were so friendly and helpful during our stay, but when it came to our wedding day they came out and took photos for us and wished us well before we left. When we got back that night they had laid out a lovely display on our bed with petals and wine and a card signed by each of the staff. It was so nice of you all, thanks guys, you’re stars and it was a lovely, kind thing to do! X

Really enjoyed my stay. Was in a great location right on the beautiful Dickinson Bay Beach. The rooms were spacious, clean and well looked after. The staff on site were helpful and the grounds around this small hotel well kept. Leaving me to have a peaceful and relaxed break. I didn't want to go home. Recommended

Loved the place. About a 5 min walk from Sandals Antigua, same beach and water. A fraction of the cost. Different set up. Sandals has 11 restaurants, all inclusive, pampered. In Buccaneers, it was a third of the price, we had an entire suite, kitchen, living room, bedroom. Cold a/c, great location, 1 min walk to beach, sweet water, small tiki bar in the water adjacent to the beach, delicious restaurant next door (Salt Plage) another just 4 min walk away (Ana's restaurant) (the best).

Some of the nicest staff you could ever find! Super clean and well taken care off. On a very mellow and soft sandy beach. Water is clear and clean. Starfish beach bar is amazing for food. One of the best places I've been.

Gated complex with pool central and little bungalows around it. Rooms have a sitting area, kitchen with hot plate, full size fridge, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. There are dishes and cups and utensils as well. Bathroom is spacious and came with a teeny tiny bottle of shampoo and lotion as well as small bars of soap. Windows have wooden shutters and screens. On the beach there are several restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. All were very good, though expensive (as most food is on the island, as everything is imported). When you check in there are snacks and drinks you can buy, as well as a huge selection of used books you can borrow. My only wish while I was there was that their beach area was slightly bigger. Each morning they would put out chairs and umbrellas for guests and they would all be saved hours before anyone actually showed up to use them. The beach is narrow and the sand is hard and packed- you have to go over to the public beach to the left to get fluffy sand or any space, but you also have to pay to rent chairs and umbrellas there. I guess it’s just a good reason to check out the 364 other beaches on the island :) Overall a very good stay- great location, great staff, and a beautiful little property.

Were it not for a small brown sign outside, you'd blink and miss this hidden gem situated at Dickenson's Bay beside the beach. Parking spaces are provided, and you enter the small complex through a security gate with reception located on the left hand side once inside. The grounds are beautifully presented with exotic plants, birds and lizards visible around the well maintained private pool, which is overlooked by the attractive accommodation units which are accessed either on the ground or on first floors. The accommodation, fitted with mosquito nets on all windows, was clean and well appointed (Microwave, hairdryer, mini toaster-oven, TV's etc) with a Clean conducted every other day and fresh towels provided. The beach, is again accessed through another security gate at the opposite end of the complex past the BBQ area and shower. This is a beautiful and picturesque beach, never crowded, with your own loungers available on a first come first served basis. Breakfast, coffee and drinks can be taken at the adjacent Salt Plage restaurant, also right there on the beach. As with any resort complex, the thing that can make or break your stay is the quality of the staff, and this is where Buccaneer excels. Eulanda at reception couldn't have done more for us, recommending and booking restaurants, and making and fielding local calls, Oscar is obviously the loveliest, most genuine, likable, hardworking and honest person in Antigua, and Leonard; "Captain of the ship" and Manager of the well run Buccaneer Beach Resort who is both knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I cant recommend the Buccaneer Beach Club highly enough. Book with confidence.

We arrived during crazy Covid times and had to cut our trip short for family reasons. Despite that, the staff was extremely friendly. They were welcoming when we arrived, carrying our bags to our room and showing us how to work the air conditioning and television. The room was on the 2nd floor in a peaceful setting. It included a small balcony with 2 chairs and a table. There was a serviceable kitchenette and a sofa bed. The beach is right outside the gates. It is gorgeous and clean, constantly being maintained. There are free loungers for all guests. A small restaurant is right next door, and more are a short distance away. The pool was well maintained as well. Before departure, Covid testing is required to re-enter the U.S. Eulanda at the front desk arranged transportation to a doctor who does the testing. The process was as easy as can be. We hope to return to the Buccaneer Beach Club soon!

We spent a wonderful week at this wonderful low-key hotel on Dickenson Bay. Our ground-floor room was facing the well-kept gardens and the pool. Access to the beach was a 1-minute walk! Strictly speaking, Buccaneer’s beach is tiny, but the entire beach to the right and left is public. Hotel staff at all levels were incredibly kind and welcoming. Rooms all have kitchenettes (not full kitchen). We cooked most of our meals and ate on our from porch. The closest supermarket (First Choice) would be a 20-minute walk, but I do not recommend walking. Roads in Antigua do not have shoulders and are unsuitable for pedestrians. We used the nearby convenience store at Antigua Village for essentials. Buccaneer Beach Club is an excellent, affordable choice for independent travellers. We loved it. Finally, a note for bird lovers. Across the road from the hotel lies the large Mackinnon Salt Pond with its colonies of egrets, ducks, pelicans and green herons! There is a small public park with benches next to the parking lot to watch the constant activity.

Stayed here new years ever. Great small hotel close to everything. Bed was comfortable. Beach is beautiful and has chairs. There is a food stand right next to the beach. Close to the floating Tiki Bar which is a must. I will stay here again.

The cleaning staff stole my orange adidas jacket from the room. She started to clean before my suitcase was removed. My jacket was left on the bed. She claimed that she did not see a jacket, but that was untrue. My suitcase was packed upon my departure from home and it was not opened until I arrived at my hotel in Antigua. I did not wear the jacket during my time there because it’s hot, but I unpacked at the hotel to feel at home. Once I arrived to my next stop after Antigua, I realized that my orange jacket that I unpacked at the hotel was no longer in my suitcase. I reached out to them and they alleged that it was not there. It’s unfortunate that I have to travel out of the country and deal with dishonesty…I really enjoyed everything outside of that incident.

My husband and I LOVED the Buccaneer Beach Club. We visited Antigua on our honeymoon and the Buccaneer went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and celebrated: upgrading us to a cottage, answering all of our (numerous) questions, scheduling taxis and restaurant reservations, coordinating our return-to-USA COVID tests. You name it, they did it. Also, the property itself is very cute and well kept (plus *right* on the beach). We're so grateful we stayed here!

We had a wonderful experience at Buccaneer. Everyone was warm and welcoming. The villas were clean and had everything you could need. The pool was perfect for our little ones and even had shade during the later afternoon. Steps away from the beach. What more could you ask for. The only thing that was a semi nuisance were mosquitos, but those are to be expected in the tropics. They were slow moving so we were able to squash them pretty easily and they did fog the property along with all those nearby once during our stay. Highly recommend Buccaneer!

This place was gorgeous and has an amazing staff. There’s only 18 rooms so it feels much more intimate. The rooms are more like small condos with a separate living area and kitchenette. The beach is 30 seconds from any room. The pool was very nice. The entire grounds is like a garden. We saw humming birds, lizards, a hermit crab and many other birds as well. The hotel is within a 5 minute drive of multiple high end restaurants. Some are even walkable. We will be back someday!

We loved our stay at Buccaneer Beach Club. Great value! Well maintained property and rooms. Nice swimming beach, no rocks and relatively calm. Throughout our early December stay, great beach chair spots available all day, no need to get up early and defend one’s spot. Staff spoiled us with free upgrade to the 2 bedroom beachfront Cottage 1, which was super clean, nice shower / bathroom (actually two full bathrooms, both great). Ample hot water / water pressure. Air con units worked great, you can turn the whole unit into a fridge if you like. Great kitchen — everything worked well and ample cookware and dishes/glasses. Nice big blender for the frozen drinks. Washer/dryer in the room. Cable TV worked fine but lost signal now and then, no worries there in our view. Room serviced every other day. We encountered ~5 or 6 different staff members who were each very friendly and helpful, and we never had a feeling they were aiming for tips, just good people doing good work. Our cottage was actually 15 steps from the beach, furthest unit was maybe ~250 steps from beach. To our surprise, despite being right on a public beach and 10 feet from a restaurant, our cottage and the area were quiet each night. Several good places to eat within 5 minutes walk. We are picky, but struggle to think what could be improved — the pool was nice but not used too much, as it is surrounded by trees that drop tree material, would suggest skimming the pool by hand more often, but swam in this clean pool without hesitation. Wish there was a bigger grocery store close by, but plan your trips well and you can pick up all groceries at First Choice which is between town and this hotel. We like to try different places to stay, but in this case next time we come to Antigua we’ll stay here again (assuming mgt. maintains good value pricing 😀) and make some more happy memories.

The BEST hidden gem in Antigua. Buccaneer is on arguably the best beach on island, and is set on lush, beautifully landscaped grounds. But the best part of this little resort is the staff—everyone is exceptional. I’ve been four times now, and they remember my name and greet me with hugs. They are just the kindest people and make sure your stay is relaxing. The cottages and rooms have everything you need: big comfy king beds, living rooms, patios/balconies, kitchens, and big showers. The rooms are not fancy, but they’re clean, spacious, and super livable. (Coming from NYC, they feel like being in a mansion.) I’ve visited some of the massive resorts in Antigua and will always choose Buccaneer! The location, staff, and amenities are unbeatable, especially for the price.
