Sonja's Pink Jelly Shack was the best. It was exactly what I was looking for! Small, quaint, cute, well-equipped, colourful, comfortable and located within her jungle oasis! Sonja was by far best host I've had! She gave me so many tips and tricks, as well as ideas of things to do that I hadn't found in my research, local guide for accessing beaches, how to maneuvre the roads, etc. I really enjoyed my stay, met some great people that were also staying there. Sonja's dogs are adorable! Definitely rent an suv from her, way better deal than any rental car place! As a solo female traveller, i've never felt more safe!! Recommend without hesitation, and hope to be back!!:)

Our cottage and Pinkshack experience surpassed our expectations completely. Ecclecticly decorated and extremely comfortable, Sonja puts loads of love into the rooms. She has created a tropical garden oasis with a positive vibe filled with peace and quiet. We could even cook our own food thanks to a fully-stocked kitchen inside the cottage, a very nice plus on Antigua! Animal lovers will melt too with the furry, four-legged creatures on the premises that round out the great, positive atmosphere radiating at Pinkshack. Five Islands Village itself has a very local, non-touristy feel, yet 5 gorgeous beaches, each with their own character, are easily walkable from Pinkshack. For exploring the entire island, Pinkshack is also a great base. An easy 5-minute drive to St. John's and 10-minute local bus ride on Bus 61 to West Bus Terminal and the nearest supermarket. Highly recommended and will definitely return if I make it back again to Antigua!

This was our first visit to Antigua and staying at Pinkshacktoo was perfect thanks to Sonja. She engaged us right away and was always available to answer any questions on What's App leading to our visit. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the arrival service that Sonja offers. We were met right outside of arrivals by Joseph who made sure we knew all about the island, took us to get our driving permit and then a quick visit to pick up some needed groceries to start our vacation. Accommodations were everything advertised. Clean, welcoming and had everything we needed. As the property is a little outside of St. Johns we recommend taking up Sonja on the offer of one of her rental vehicles. It allowed us to explore all over the island. Fortunate to have found Sonja and her beautiful property. We will return for sure. Thank you Sonja.

My daughter and I had the most amazing stay in Sonja’s pink shack and I wish we could have stayed longer! The location was gorgeous with amazing sunset views across the street and wonderful beaches within walking distance. Although we rented one of her SUV’s for the week, which turned out to be a very smart decision! Sonja was incredibly helpful with tips and advice during our stay including places to go and valuable driving tips. The property is beautiful and kept private with lots of tropical plants. We especially enjoyed the Five Islands region of the island and Deep Bay. We would definitely love to stay at the Pink Shack again in the future and say hello again to the lovely dogs! Highly recommend Sonja’s Pink Shack!

This is hands-down the best place to stay on the island! The location is great- our favorite beaches on the island were located within walking distance, and it's a short, easy drive into St John's. The cottages themselves are so lovely, well-equipped, and super clean, and Sonja's garden is absolutely beautiful- we got to pick and eat bananas from the tree! Sonja is wonderful and very present and responsive. She was super helpful all throughout our trip to give detailed recommendations on activities, restaurants, etc. On a side note, I stayed at another accomodation on the island for several days, and the experience was nowhere close to the experience I had at Sonja's. The Pinkshack cottages are a gem on the island. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, Sonja!

Sonja has created an oasis sanctuary for those who appreciate a location a short drive to some of the best beaches ( we have been to all in two visits) on the island . The cottage was charming and clean. The property was a magical tropical garden. You barely see the other cottages because of the brilliant landscape architecture. She was responsive, available for questions and local insights. she is a generous host and has great recommendations!

Enjoyed my stay! My cottage was clean and smelled fresh. Sonja is very helpful and the guests in the neighboring cottages on the property were friendly and gave good advice. I rented a jeep from Sonja which made it easy to get down the the beach for swims, but it was definitely within walking distance. My first visit to Antigua. Wonderful people. I found two beaches very suitable for swimming and frequented them - Deep Bay and Morris Bay, but there are many more for those inclined to explore! Green Apple Restaurant is within walking distance of Pink Shacks and has great fresh red snapper on Thu - Sat. I also recommend OJs restaurant which is farther, but on the way home from Morris Bay. Overall a very nice vacation.

I don’t have enough words to describe how positive my stay was! The cottages are absolutely amazing, cozy but with everything you possibly need. Set in a postcard-perfect tropical garden which gives you both privacy from other cottages, but also creates a sense of community. Sonja was a great host, and even though she wasn’t there for the first part of my stay it was always easy to reach her with any question I may have. And Sonja’s four-legged assistants were always ready to lend a hand and make sure my stay was an enjoyable one! If I could give more than 5 starts, I would! :)

The host was helpful, friendly and has beautiful scenery around the property. The cottage is located outside of St John's which is a little way out. It would be preferable to get a vehicle sorted.. or you could be like me and hike everywhere. The property itself is very pretty to look at, definitely has a homely feel to it

Sonja is an amazing host. Don't know what I would have done without her. Pinkshack is absolutely amazing. You have everything you need. You will need a car or a good pair of walking legs. Sonja can provide you with a great car. She went above and beyond for us. Thank you. I look forward to returning ;-)

I really, really really enjoyed my stay here. The studio was super cute, amazing value for money. Sonya was really helpful and the little doggy gang added to my trip! The dogs are really small and Sonya has created a tiny tropical microcosm around the cottages.. It’s in a good location but you will definately need a car to get to all the nearby beaches. I don’t drive but Sonja helped me in securing an Electric bike from a company in St Johns who deliver! Would without a doubt stay here again.

Pink shack was so cute and fun. We were able to rent a car directly from Sonia, who also has an adorable brood of the sweetest dogs. The area is beautiful and quiet, with a few delicious & cheap spots to eat, some gorgeous beaches, and a grocery store a five min drive away.

This type of accommodation may vary from person to person. For me I enjoyed the seclusion and the friendliness of the host Sonja. Beautiful plants surrounded the house/shack cottage, jungle sounds but basically a cool place.

We stayed with Sonja for 8 days at the pink house, the place was clean and based in a really good location. We also rented one of the cars which definitely made our trip easier and more adventurous. Sonja was super friendly and helpful when it came to recommendations and showing us the local spots. We would definitely be coming back there again. Would 100% recommend. Will miss this place! X

The cottages are great. They have everything you need for a nice quiet stay on Antigua, without breaking the bank. There is no A/C (but there are two fans) and nothing consumable is provided, not even water, but once you're provisioned at the grocery store, you're good to go. Sonja is a wonder and a good storyteller! Lots of dogs and few cats, but all good if you're an animal lover.

Goodnight, ON SUNDAY 29th of OCTOBER 2023, I finally got to celebrate my significant other birthday with Pinkshack…. Originally it was supposed to be a week before but hurricane Tammy came and had other plans so I had to reschedule due to the weather …. However, I want to start off my staying that the host wass sooo soooo nice, during the communication stage up untill I left… she was willing nd actually went all out to make sure our stay was worth it… her communication service was definitely a 100/10 .. she even gave us a welcome birthday package along with a nice gift which was absolutely cute and sweet of her … omg omg this lady is the absolute best, her personality is really top notch and I just can’t wait to spend another stay with them … everything was absolutely great , although the nature of mosquitoes 🦟 was there , she provided us with a mosquito repellent upon arrival and the room was air conditioned either which way so they weren’t a bother to us until being outside ….. the room was well put together and so comfortable, I honestly felt like home, fully equipped and top tier, I didn’t have to ask for anything because we had everything, the beach was also close by which is a plus , environment is quiet also ….. DO NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT CHOOSING PINKSHACK FOR A HONEYMOON OR A GET AWAY, it is definitely worth every penny and you won’t regret it ….. I definitely will be back and I wish her the best and nothing but the best because her warming spirit deserves it ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ i can’t emphasize on how much of a great person Sonja is , we have been to guesthouses before so we know to walk with our basic essentials to cook etc , but imagine she even had seasoning and a goodie basket with wine and drinks… you can’t want a better place than that .. 🥰🥰

Absolute gem, Sonja was super welcoming and everything about the place was perfect! Can’t wait to head back soon and I’ll definitely be renting one of the Jeep’s next time! Has everything you would need for an amazing stay and it’s such a great value.

Having read the positive reviews, we decided to book our stay but I hope I can tell you to not make the same mistake. Even though it might appear on Google Maps that the beach is not that far, it’s a hard, long walk away and the easiest access points are blocked by nearby hotels. You must have a car to stay here. We were meant to have a trip from the airport organised for us which would have included a stop to get a temporary driving license and a supermarket stop, but Sonja the host forgot to organise it. We got a taxi straight from the airport (which was cheaper) but when we arrived she had also forgotten we were staying so waited upwards of 20mins in the afternoon heat while a room was made up. Granted, it was a better room – but we still had no food and no driving license (which tourist drivers need for Antigua). We were promised a trip to make these up the next morning, but when Sonja found out that we weren’t sure whether we going to rent one of her jeeps (very expensive at 350USD for a week, when we managed 250USD for a car that was dropped off and included a journey back to the airport) Sonja was very upset at us and this was bizarre. She drove us back (after 2 mins into the journey) and was very rude to us from this moment. You cannot stay here if you don’t like dogs, there are at least 15 dogs running around and they’re not shy. The landscaping is overgrown, with bugs (one big bug in our room one night) and mosquitos. There is no signage to let you know that you’ve arrived and the padlock on the main gate is ridiculous – it’s locked almost all day, an industrial heavy chain and a large padlock. It can be fiddly to open and close and takes at least a couple of minutes to do either way. This is a huge inconvenience when sometimes you just want to go – and there seems to be no logic as to why it’s locked all the time (even in the middle of the day). There are no amenities nearby, no buses or public transport. However, there is a nice café called Le Croissant in the village if you need a quick dinner or drink (this is still 15 mins walk away). Overall I would not recommend this place to stay, and if it’s your first time staying in Antigua I would strongly suggest staying in English Harbour instead where there is more to do and it seems a little bit better connected.
