In October 2022 a couple friend's and I booked a last minute budget trip and the saying is true, you get what you pay for. We arrived late (11:30pm) because our flight out of Toronto was delayed. Upon arriving we asked if there was any food to which they said NOTHING. We even asked if they had any snacks and were told no. Considering this is an all inclusive I would say that is not ideal. It was at this point we discovered the resort has zero night life. Bar closes at 10:30pm each day and you were basically unable to get food after 9pm. Front desk staff were very lovely and kind! However, if you called from your room requesting more towels they would often take the request but never show up to deliver. We had to call 4x to get more towels in one example. Food was as expected, typical buffet but the morning omelets were wonderful! Wait staff in the main restaurant were usually not in the best of mood. Resort is VERY kid friendly and the villas didn't have much sound insulation between them. We would often hear our neighbours even if they were being relatively quiet. The beds were EXTREMELY firm. Beaches are not very swim friendly as the one beach had quite a lot of jellyfish and the main beach had most of its sand washed away and was just left with exposed tree roots near the waterline.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Veranda. Overall we were very happy with the resort and enjoyed our time. Here are some useful points: - Food: See separate section below - Rooms: See separate section below - Resort: This resort is quite spread out over a large property, where all of the units are connected by small roads like a cozy neighbourhood. This give a wonderful feeling of privacy and "homeyness" to the resort, the only problem being that this is an island which means that there are a LOT of hills. The hills allow for almost every room to have a great view of either the island or the bay/ocean, but means that you're going to be in for a workout to walk between your room and the restaurants. You can call for a "go-cart"/shuttle and they will arrive reasonably quickly to pick you up and take you somewhere, but don't be in a hurry, because of the size of the property the driver will be 2-15 minutes away at peak times. I pulled a muscle snorkelling so my walks were not as fun as they would normally be. - Pools: there are a number of pools spread around the property. The website hasn't had the pictures updated as of Feb 1, 2024, and they've completed some renovations to improve the pools. The main pool has the same layout but now has a splash/seating area inside the pool with fountains splashing to keep you cool. The umbrellas have also been replaced with covered pergolas surrounding the pool making for very good shade coverage for when you don't want to be in the Caribbean sun. The biggest problem is a combination of greedy patrons taking multiple towels and a shortage of towels in general. We saw multiple people with 3 towels each, which made the shortage even worse. We also noticed people taking a towel to a chair, not use it, and then put it into the dirty towel bin which also aggravates the problems with towels. One useful tidbit: If it's very windy (like our first 4 days) the pool with be COLD! and when it's not windy the pool with be wonderful. - Staff: This is where we found the most variability of anything on the resort. The staff are either absolutely wonderful, helpful and enjoyable to be around and interact with, or abysmally bad with terrible follow-through. If they could fix this aspect, this resort would be significantly better. We had many staff members that were absolutely great at making suggestions of drinks to have or menu items that were good choices based on what we were looking for. We also had a couple of staff that couldn't answer a simple question like "When does the restaurant open" (an answer of "8 o'clock" was not correct nor helpful at 6pm). All in all, we really enjoyed our stay for our week's vacation, and we are considering coming back in the future with our sons. Overall the "not so great staff" is the biggest drawback to giving 5 stars for everything at this resort.

My parents stayed at this resort back in December 2022 and the service was amazing throughout their entire stay. They noted that the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and hospitable. Due to weather conditions their flight was delayed and they were stranded at the hotel for Christmas and a few days after, the team at the Verandah continued to ensure they were well taken care of until it was time to go home. Thank you so much for your remarkable hospitality!

Our group arrived in the afternoon and we were greeted with big smiles and rum punch. We were given detailed instructions and information about the resort. We checked into our rooms with gorgeous views of the bay and the sounds of nature. This resort is family friendly but still has excellent entertainment to offer that closed between 11/11:30pm. The live music was incredible, Mr Onederful in particular is so talented his voice gave us chills and his performance was more then memorable! The karaoke that had everyone singing and dancing. The street food party with incredible dishes and music was so much fun. Our room was cleaned every other day in impeccable detail. Fresh towels, glasses and our bar fridge was stocked for us with the type of rum we requested. The team at the Verandah are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful! Anything you needed they were on it attentive and lovely. Dinner service with Theodore was an absolute delight and he went above and beyond to ensure we had the speciality coffee and liqueurs we asked for. Lindel creates the best cocktails, martinis and drinks I have ever had with a smile and fast service no matter how busy he was. Cassy Ann has a wonderful sense of humour and made my early mornings at the cafe. Her laugh makes you laugh. The main beach is clean and beautiful. It is more shallow but you can still swim around, float and enjoy the bar at the beach. We were taken out on a catamaran by AJ and had a lovely time on the water. This was an amazing experience and I highly recommend a visit to the Verandah!

My girlfriend and I went to the The Verandah Resort & Spa in Antigua to celebrate my my 55th birthday. Our stay was for six days and five nights. Upon arrival the property was beautiful but we didn't like our room. So immediately we went to the front desk to spoke to the receptionist about it. We informed them that we requested two beds instead of a king size bed and a sofa. The receptionist told us that they didn't have none. Meanwhile we book this trip back in February and now it's April. The next morning we realize that the ceiling fan and refrigerator wasn't working. They give us a new fan and fix the refrigerator. The three day of our stay we woke up to no hot water. The maintenance guy came and fix it but didn't adjusted the hot water temperature. My friend almost got burned by the hot water. The food wasn't good at all by the time you pick up from the buffet to your table it was cold. Not to mention they give you the same selection every day. One of the nights I got sick and got lock out of the room. I have bad allergies and wanted to get into the convenience store they had there. I was told no one had a key for it. One of the workers that came to assist use to get back into the room informed us that the manager lives onsite. He was called but wasn’t no help. He requested that I call for ambulance to take me to the ER. Than I requested to see a doctor and was told that he couldn't come out until tomorrow. The next day no doctor or customer service check to see how I was feeling. I address all that happen to the manager by the name of Chris. I even caught him in a lie stating that someone should of called him. I had to tell him that I was right there when the employee reach out to him the night. He give me some story that he couldn't give me medication. I explain to him how was he giving me medication if I am buying it from the convenient store on the premises. Than he got really upset and rude with me telling me about how many other guest that he had there. Very unprofessional and not considerate about what we went through. The staff were very very nice but I will never go back there again.

I attended Verandah on a Day Pass. It is a beautiful facility that has a lot to offer but there was definitely a difference in the customer service between me and the guests who were staying on the resort.

Great time at Verandah Nov 25th - Dec 2nd 2023! Can't wait to return. Had a few issues - the hotel wasn't quite ready to accept guests after reopening as adults only (new staff giving wrong info, construction, no signage, long waits at restaurants/bars). But most things got better as the week went on. Food and drinks were great, beautiful views, cute cottage style rooms that were big and comfortable, loved all the walking (not too steep) and golf cart rides always available if u dont feel like walking, very clean resort, quiet atmosphere, amazing coffee shop, lots of seating and palapas throughout the resort and lovely pools with really nice lounge chairs. A few specific staff members really made our week memorable - servers Theo and Leon were so helpful and friendly!! Chef Francis and his team at Rasta Beach grill were always on point with fast service and delicious food!! Francis always took the time to check in with guests - he would make an amazing guest/hotel manager!! Also the 2 ladies that work the coffee shop were both so great and made consistently delicious coffee creations :) TIP: definitely check out the beach at Pineapple next door. It's a gorgeous long white sand beach with clear water. Lovers beach at Verandah was nice enough and beautiful to look at but not clear and very muddy/squishy to walk in the ocean.

The moment you get out of the taxi, the resort is breathtaking. The grounds are not just clean, but it’s quiet, beautiful, fun for all different kinds of people and just wonderful. Yes it is hilly, but if you’re not severely obese it’s actually quite pleaaant. If you’re obese/lazy they have a golf cart service for you. Foods great, service is great, drinks are great and the amenities are fantastic.

I have just arrived back to the UK after 9 days of staying at this resort. Grounds: Beautiful, well kept, maintained Rooms: We had a hillside water view which was lovely and close to the main pool (255) Staff: most friendly and welcoming. My partner had a encounter with a rude receptionist and I had an encounter with a rude security guard asking an out of the blue inappropriate question. Food: I enjoyed the food. Some guests we spoke to said it was too much of the same, but I didn’t find that personally. It was all nicely cooked food. We were expecting all 3 restaurants would be open during our stay, but only the main buffet sea breeze was, with no warning. There are a few things I’d say need improving: - special occasions. It was my 30th birthday on this trip and I got engaged, neither occasions were acknowledged despite mentioning to staff and prior to arriving. - general atmosphere isn’t great. There was no effort in the hotel to keep things upbeat and fun. We found it quite dull. No music playing a lot of the time. Sometimes the choice of music was very bad. Michael Jackson by the pool in the middle of the day? - games and entertainment were too far spread across the resort which made it not fit for purpose. The pool table etc was so far away from the main pool etc, with no bar to get a drink, especially in the 31 degrees heat. No music playing. Again, very dull. The adult pool had no bar either so it was empty the whole 9 days I was there. No music - the beaches were very quiet again no music playing. The chefs were always late opening to start lunch I just thought generally more effort could of been made to spice things up a bit. Even a beach party would of been fun! The resort could wrap pretty lights around the palm trees so it is lit at night and could even have a night bar as a change of scenery from the main bar. None of the gazebos had nice lights in so they were not romantic and quite pointless. There was one day we wanted a guest day pass for the pinapple hotel next door, but verandah guest services said it was fully booked. We went over anyway and they said that wasn’t true. We then went to the pinapple resort 3 more times because we enjoyed it more. More atmosphere, more effort with the guests, more choice of food, stronger and nicer drinks. If I were to come to Antigua again I would book the pinapple resort over the verandah, based on my experience. However I did have a good holiday.

Pack your patience if you come to this “resort”. You will be standing in line for almost everything. You have to stand in line to make reservations for your dinner. You will wait 15 minutes to get a drink. They never had the ingredients for their cocktails, so it was rum punch or a tiny beer. The breakfast buffet - after finally being seated at a table with no silverware or coffee cups - was a huge disappointment. The hot foods were cold and the cold juices and milk were warm. Yes, intestinal distress is certain. We couldn’t get anyone to help us, so we got our own tableware. We were scolded by the staff for helping ourselves. Thank you for making my birthday breakfast so memorable! We gave up on service for breakfast and visited the coffee shop instead. Probably one of the only bright spots for service. The two beaches were lovely, but be careful with the water sports. My friend was in horrible pain after the liquid in her snorkel mask blinded her for the day. The water sports staff just drops you off at the reef and leaves. She was in distress for 25 minutes before they returned. Our room had a lovely view, but the chairs on the patio are short and when you sit, the view is blocked by the railing. We wanted to bring a bottle of wine to our room - nope - you only get a small glass of wine at the bar which you must carry back to the room. This resort is not only understaffed, they are under stocked. They don’t have enough towels, glasses, plates, etc. They are short on items listed on menus. ! Most of the staff is aloof and unmotivated. We will not return to this resort - and probably won’t return to Antigua. There are nicer islands and better run resorts in the Caribbean.

Amazing location, beautiful property and very friendly staff. Look for Theodore (Theo) he will ensure you know the happenings at the resort and always have a fresh Antigua Smile to sip on

I don’t blame the staff: it’s management that needs to up its game. Queuing was the accepted ‘norm’ and there were predictable times when deploying more staff would avoid guests having to suffer this. Examples: the pizza restaurant had one lad doing all the work whilst another took orders and fielded complaints. I experienced a delay of an hour before getting my order which turned out to be a bland tomato and cheese concoction on partially baked dough. After dinner I visited the bar and waited 20 minutes to be served as only one bartender was on duty. In the mornings the cooked breakfast was cold and served on cold plates: surprising that they had not worked out a way of addressing this. The coffee was tasteless and tepid. On the plus side the accommodation in individual cabins was fine - ours overlooked the sea. Aircon was good. A written note advised us that rooms are serviced every two days ‘to preserve guests privacy’ lacked candour. Even the security guard got in on the act by demanding the room numbers of all 20 guests returning at night by coach before letting us through; she did not use this information to check or reconcile, but to create, once again, yet another one of those queues we all hate.

It is a beautiful place, romantic and fantastic views. No children allowed which is a bonus for me. Connction to WiFi is poor you are lucky when you get it. Rooms are very big, comfortable and have air-conditioning. Had a problem with changing towels but soon sorted it out. Staff are very friendly, welcoming, they work very hard. You can visit the sister Hotel which is 5 minutes walk away called the Pineapple. To move around the island you need transport. Taxis always available. Would visit again.

Amazing, friendly, helpful staff! We loved the relaxed, slow pace of the resort, always lots to do if you wanted! We loved staying at a resort with multiple beaches and pools. We enjoyed the quieter infinity pool and adult only pool on days we wanted quiet to relax. We don't have kiddos, but definitely a place i would come with kids as it is an extremely safe and clean resort. Shout out to Lindel for making the best mojitos and Rohan for bringing the fun! We can't wait to plan our next trip back to the Verandah!

We were booked at the Pineapple Beach club but had a day pass to go and spend the morning and afternoon at the Verandah. This is a great experience to be able to go to both resorts because it is owned by the same person.

Visited Antigua for our spring break 2023. Definitely recommend visiting. The Verandah Resort is a nice family-friendly resort. They offer enough activities to keep you busy for a fun filled week long vacation. Be sure to stop by the Tour Desk and book the snorkeling tour aboard the Calypso Cat!

We visited Antigua a year prior and stayed at a different resort and loved it so much that we decided to come back, and based on reviews for Verandah resort, we thought we made a good choice, boy were we wrong. Our family were constantly looking for water and food. When they say complimentary bottle of water, they mean one bottle of water per person on arrival only, then you have to buy or refill empty bottles from the tap, and even though local folks do drink water from tap, we did not feel confident in it so we had to buy. Next is food; the quality was low, and choices even fewer. The restaurant schedule was not really followed due to staff shortage. We would come to Rasta Bech grill just to eat something because other restaurants were closed, and it was also closed because one of the staff members had to go home. So we were left without food until dinner. Now this would have been fine if all this came at a hafty discount or free, but we paid lots of money for this "4" star resort that delivered at a barely 2 star service. I do have to say that it was not the fault of staff members, as they were wonderful, caring, and always positive. I believe that the management is at fault because the resort is closing in June for much needed renovations and to become Adults only resort, so during our stay all staff members got their termination letters and still kept their positivity, however, the management was running the whole resort on bare minimum staff and supply. Also, after talking to few locals who knew the owner of the resort, stated that he was not a good person, so I can see that reflects at the resort. We still like Antigua and most likely be back just not to any of the five that he owns.

Resort grounds were good but different places on the resort were to far away to get to on foot. There also wasn't enough night entertainment for my taste, by 10:30 or 11:00 pm you couldn't even get anything to eat ! As far as the staff was concerned collectively everyone was extremely friendly and did their very best to be accommodating, their efforts deserve much recognition for tasks well done !

Worst place ever. Typically no towels at the pools and beach. Rooms only cleaned every other day but was missed!! Hard to get towels for room too! Food not always fresh and paying extra charge for “upscale “ restaurant not worth it. When you call front desk someone takes your request but not typically acted upon. The country is beautiful but find another place to stay.

Incredible value and excellent service. The check in experience immediately relaxes you in to vacation mode and the excellent Pina Colada's and 2 beaches on property keep the relaxation going. There are many activities to do in the bay including sailing your own Hobie, Paddleboarding, Kayaking and laying in floats anchored in the bay. The food at all restaurants are great and the places you can reserve for dinner like Nicole's are amazing. Best Lobster I've had in a few years with a nice creamy butter sauce. They have a nice gift shop too in case you left anything home. Highly recommend and I will be back!

After a number of recommendations I went with this hotel 🏨. Got to the water suite and saw the sofa bed was aweful. It was all dipped in the middle and there was no way my sons were able to sleep in a dipped mattress. So I called up Reception was told someone would come and look. After about 2HRS the manager came to speak to me toldher about it she apologised and said she would get a mattress topper to help and I asked her to move me to a better room with a better bed. She told me she would keep intouch and let me know what they could do.... I waited all holiday nothing and am now back in the UK says it all. Not what I expected after paying that much money won't be going back again. Was also meant to get 4 bottles complimentary in the room only got 3. Pls if anyone is thinking of going here is my honest experience points. Sea breeze breakfast was Lovely No one collects empty glasses at the pool no matter what day of the week. No life guards at all any where Towels for beach one day took over 3 hours to get fresh ones so my advice would be take extra and keep as u go along. Hardly any night entertainment for kids let alone adults. We experienced a street party with no veggie food so didn't even eat that night as nothing else to eat anywhere as sea breeze was closed and after asking the staff if there was veggie food they cudnt even answer it. There was a live band one night and a dj. That's all the night life There is a small chill out zone table tennis and snooker table. There is mini golf and tennis courts There is a small adult pool Lots of fruit Drinks are the same every place of the resort The best part was the coffee shop lovely lady Debra cudnt have asked for anyone better she was a darling. Loved all the drinks she made. So one night we went for dinner at the Bucaneers restaurant and ordered drinks and the lady forgot.. she then came back to get the order again and still we ate the whole meal without out drinks. Next day the manager Chris caught us apologied for what happened and booked us a free meal at another restaurant called nichoels (sorry abt the wrong spelling). This took us by suprise and it was very generous 😀 . Such a lovely restaurant and the staff were the best. Lucy and kertie were amazing thanks so much Def book that place if u can its $40 pp well worth it. Chris also came and asked us on a number of occasions if everything was OK and that was so kind of him We booked the pink panther tour which we loved was such a good insight into the few areas we visited. Was a ok experience at this hotel. Thanks to Gregg also such lovely welcoming happy man and so very helpful. Thanks to typhanie she was amazing on our last day. The staff are amazing On my last day I had booked a wash and blow dry she yanked my hair so much I think I have whiplash from the tugging of drying my hair. Lady was not welcoming at all even though I was trying to make a conversation 🙄 Just wish the sofa bed was better for my boys stay or they got me.a better room. If anyone has any qs pls don't hesitate to ask me I would be happy to reply
