Groundswell has absolutely incredible cupcakes!!! I’m totally addicted. Their coffee and brunch are delightful too. I love how spacious and bright the space is, and the staff is always friendly. This was my go-to study spot in college, but I’ve continued coming here, even though I now live in Minneapolis. I really enjoyed the holiday market they hosted last December, and I appreciate that they highlight local artist. This is truly a neighborhood spot, and it’s worth the trip!

Great coffee, food is mostly vegetarian and delicious. You can add meat if you would like. The open space and natural light make for an upbeat place to chat and work. Check my menu photos for prices and offerings. The baked goods hit proper too.

Pricey but delicious! Probably one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a while, a perfect egg to veggie ratio, and I loved getting cream sauce on the side. The seasonal rosemary cinnamon latte was perfect, not too bitter and not too watered down. Atmosphere was trendy and calm, loved all the little succulents in the window and the local artist crafts available for purchase.

Delicious food, place is nestled in a neighborhood so nice and cozy and plenty of outdoor seating. Had a wonderful pear sage cinnamon latte and out of this world biscuits and gravy. My partner also really enjoyed her vegan breakfast burrito! Would absolutely return here again.

Tasty place! They have a great atmosphere for sitting at a table to talk or getting some work/studying done. Music isn’t too loud & we liked the three separate rooms that separate the place - it gives more of a cozy feel! We got a cappuccino, iced latte, and the *wonderful* earl grey muffin. For sure get the muffin :) Yum!

Nicely decorated cafe that is extremely busy. There was a short line at the counter when I arrived, but by the time I left the line was to the door and it was so loud I couldn't hear the person sitting across the table from me. It was hard to find an open table and I was there around 9 am on a weekday. I loved that they offered vegan options, though there was only one vegan bakery item the day I was there and it did seem to be very popular with customers. I absolutely enjoyed my chai latte which was foamy and a little spicy, which made it a unique drink compared to when I have ordered it at different cafes.

Great little brunch cafe at the corner of Hamline & Thomas in the Midway neighborhood. Street parking is plentiful in this area, but if you're with someone with mobility issues, drop them off at the front door and then park. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I found a spot in a window and settled in with a textbook. My sandwich was lovely, and the hash browns were good. Food's a little yuppie, but hit the spot, and they let you put your own cream in the coffee, hallelujah! I'll definitely return.

Came here due to the high reviews and popularity. It was a busy cafe with a lot of customers, but finding a seat wasn’t difficult. I asked for an ice chocolate, but got a disappointing drink that tasted just like plain milk with a smidge of chocolate flavour. A good number of wall sockets around for people to work. One big bother was how very cold the cafe was in all areas (I moved across multiple areas).

The biscuits and gravy are delicious! My husband ordered the banana bread french toast, which was also scrumptious. You can get it with or without chocolate ganache. The chairs aren't super comfortable and they have very limited outside seating, which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. The food, coffee and tea are delicious. It's a great local spot, and we love local.

Awesome cafe! We came on a Sunday morning, we walked over from our AirBnb and we couldn't have made a better decision. The vibe is incredibly chill and the place is decorated super nicely. The staff are so wonderful and pleasant as well. Highly recommend! The chai was really authentic and beautifully spiced. Make sure to explore the whole cafe, there's an area with cute booths. Truly a St Paul gem.

Gluten free bread! I had a delicious egg sandwich. Easily big enough to share. It's a bit noisy in the main room, with the espresso machine going, but if you go further in there are quieter areas.

Friendly staff, chill vibes. Vegan options on the menu. Can confirm the blueberry muffin is as good as it looks! The plant based grain bowl was a generous portion and good! I’d love to try it with a creamier dressing (personal preference over balsamic), hummus or avocado would compliment it well! I’ll be back to try the veg breakfast burrito.

A cute cafe with plentiful street parking! I was looking at cafes that were opened last 5pm + had vegan options and after awhile I decided on this one! I only got the matcha latte with oat milk. They have lots of indoor seating, I was afraid it would've been busy but surprised it wasn't. Along with some outdoor seating. Came here to study and enjoy my stay here, although there was an off smell that bothered me for a bit but then got over it. I can definitely see myself coming back here in the future.

Lovely coffee shop with a wide variety of food and drink. The vegan banana bread was delicious, and the Amsterdam Latte, their special of the month, was unique and yummy. Very friendly service and cute spot. I'll definitely come back when I'm in St. Paul.

Top 5 coffee & breakfast spot! Definitely a comfy feel and atmosphere. I love the charm of the building! The quiche is always fresh and delicious with creativity in food pairing. I definitely think their food deserves more attention and respect. Much more than a coffee place. This is an inviting place to spend a hour or two.

Lovely local cafe!! Very nice employees, friendly and quick service. The drinks were great!! Very delicious Oat and Almond milk crafted latte and hot chocolate. They had vegan options and a gender neutral restroom. They had cute decor and even sold soap and stickers. The place has a nice atmosphere a lots of seating. Very comfy and felt very homey. A 10/10 place to chill and enjoy a nice drink! Will be back some time!

Great place for groups or solo. Awesome breakfast food with plenty of nice-looking bakery items and coffee available. Very clean with a vibe that skews younger. Can get busy and full inside, but there is outdoor seating when it's not freezing. Only saw streetside parking, so you may have to walk a block.

I've visited this wonderful local coffee shop weekly for the past few years, and it's by far my favorite place to be (especially to do homework). The staff at Groundswell are incredible, the food is always amazing and fresh, the coffee is top tier, and you'd be hard pressed to find a coffee shop in the area that has a better usage of natural lighting and good tables to do some work. I'll always recommend this place for those in the area!

This is one of my favorite places to meet a friend to catch up or a colleague for a work meeting over tasty food/drink. The veggie omelette is my favorite, the breakfast sandwiches are also good, and I love that they have gluten free pastry options. They’ve all been delicious. Lots of seating, friendly staff, good WiFi & access to outlets if you need a place to get some work done. They do get super busy sometimes, especially on weekends - for good reason.

I saw this place when I was driving through the neighborhood. It seems very unassuming from the front but it has a full kitchen in back with an amazing coffee bar in the front. The latte I got was one of the best I've had in the Twin cities. The decor is a very modern/shabby grunge that is hard to replicate - but a style that I love. The food was delicious and the study time spent there was much needed. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

Was looking for a place to eat near Como Zoo and stumbled upon this little place. The menu is fairly small, but the food was high quality and the portions were very generous. They also had a nice selection of bakery items - including several that are gluten free.

Very cute place. Good lattes! Portions for food are very small for the price. Disappointed with the “veggie hash” which came with one piece of kale and a sprinkling of quinoa (less than what I was expecting from the description on the menu). Only broccoli and a few tiny cubes of what I think was zucchini. Small-ish portion of pancakes as well - those were still good though.

Love this place. It has been literal years since I have been here (pre-pandemic) and it seems like this place has only gotten better! I love the 'sticks' they give you to drop off your food/beverage, a neighborhood cozy and collective vibe. I hope to be here more often!

SO happy and appreciative of Groundswell for helping us celebrate the gender reveal of our baby boy! They were quick and eager to accommodate our request for these custom made cake pops. They graciously made pink, blue and vanilla ones since we didn't know the gender at the time. They were absolutely delicious and a huge hit with our family. Something we'll remember forever!

This place was delicious. I loved the hash browns, they were extra crunchy and had a little more pizazz with the quinoa, kale, and cheddar cheese that brought it all together. I do wish there was a bit more kale in it though to balance it all out. A little bit on the greasier side but it was worth it for the crunch. On the right was the Banana bread French toast. It had chocolate ganache, pecans and fresh banana. Absolutely delightful! It wasn’t too sweet which I appreciate. The pecans gave it a nice crunch along with the ‘crust’ of the banana bread being extra crisp. Vibes were good; everybody was so kind and they had a small wall full of local artists goods you could buy. I think it’s important to note that they have a revolving menu; keeps it fresh and innovative but not what you may expect if you study the menu beforehand like I.

coffee is good quality and not on the sweet side. add an extra shot of syrup if you like a lil more sweetness / flavor. more on the spendy side compared to other local ships. the bakery is to die for and they have rotating baked goods specials. also loved the quiche.

I've hardly been out to true coffee shops since the pandemic began, and I've only started ordering cappuccinos again the past few weeks. I love cappuccinos. But I want a high quality, traditional cap if I'm going to spend the time and money to drink one. I only order caps from places I've been before and trust their baristas' ability to create micro-foam on demand. Some other shops' have been disappointing or underwhelming, but This One is exactly what I want from a (wet) cappuccino. Thanks, Groundswell 🥰☕ --- Other Details: Their staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The food is delicious and good quality. The cafe has a lovely, laid-back atmosphere. Good for studying or a conversation. Bright, clean, and open. I always feel welcome here. If we lived in the neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.
