I felt so sad after My Place in Chinatown closed and was overwhelmed with joy when I learned it’s new location recently. This place is the most authentic Hong Kong style cafe in Chicago. Food is always amazing and you cannot beat the price! The mango tapioca desert is to die for!

I was devastated when this place closed down in Chinatown. Just recently discovered that they had moved to the South Loop instead. Food is still incredible! Honestly, anything with the yellow star (chef’s special) would be good but a few of my top favorites include the hand pulled chicken, lobster with ginger, oxtail w/bean curd, salt & pepper Japanese tofu. We would’ve ordered more but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The prices are not bad and you get huge portions. Had so much leftovers between 3 people.

Great new place in the south loop! The food came out pretty quickly, and the flavor is decent to pretty good, but I'm extremely critical of most Asian food. The hot and sour soup was really good though! I'm excited to explore more of the menu on future cisits

Haven't been to my place since they moved from Chicago Chinatown to Wabash and don't think I will visit again. When we first arrived there was no greeting. Not very friendly. We got the afternoon tea special for $8.95 and not very good. Both of our drinks Yin Yang (coffee and tea) and lemon honey smelled bad. My hubby ordered the beef brisket noodle soup and it was so little and not great. I ordered the satay beef vermicelli and it was tasteless and noodles were mushy. Overall I was super disappointed and I probably won't be over back again.

Very reasonablly priced Cantonese style authentic Chinese food. I ordered the Portuguese chicken, somewhat disappointed with only a few pieces of chicken deep fried in heavy breading.. The morning/lunch special is a great deal, come with small drink and sides. Other parties' choices are better than mine and seem to taste good.. Oxtail casserole is nice too.

If you're looking for tasty authentic Cantonese food, this is the place. We had dinner here. Ordered Beijing Style Pork Chops, stir fry clams, hand shredded chicken, salt pepper smelt fish and other dishes. Had to say they were all fantastic and priced reasonably. Like other Chinese restaurants, don't expect service to be excellent. Every time we asked for something, our waiter took care of it right away, but you have to ask.

Wanted something delicious with a street food vibe, my place came to my mind. It’s spacious and not loud while dining in. I love how they have the patio area for 3 seasons. Food quality and price wise for my place, I’d give it a 10/10. The crispy chow mein that I ordered comes with a hot drink, and a bowl of congee. I was so full after, and still, I couldn’t finish everything. For all that it was less than $10 during lunch time. My place definitely deserves more recognition.

We finally decided to try My Place after it replace a former Mexican restaurant and we found it to be ok. The presentation of their dishes looked great in person. Their egg drop soup was a very good size for your money and v held it’s hot temperature for a very, very long time. Our entrees included a ramen bowl and a shrimp with garlic vermicelli pasta. The pasta had at least twelve large shrimp but the dish overall lacked the taste of garlic or might have needed more of a sauce. The waiter was very nice. There weren’t very many people unfortunately. We’d hate to see another restaurant close in the South Loop but we find My Places atmosphere a little off, but give it a try. Maybe you will like it.

Starting the day right with a yummilicious bowl of shredded duck noodles and yuan yang 鸳鸯(Hong Kong milk coffee + tea) by My Place. So good.

Food poisoning alert. The food we got served was not fresh, we ate half of three dishes and realized food quality was not good. After coming home, myself and my bf became nauseated and sick. After an hour or so my boyfriend puked, had major stomachache, headache and had diarrhea. I also had bad stomachache and ended up having diarrhea as well. Our plans for the evening got cancelled (concert) because my boyfriend could not physically move around due to him being sick. Please be aware of this place and I want to make sure management of this restaurant will take this review into a consideration and not feed customers old and bad food. Also our waitress was mean to us when I asked if there was non pork broth for ramen, for my question she said “I can substitute broth with water”. Her sarcasm was not appropriate and was rude.

The food here is amazing! I used to go to My Place for 6 years and back at their old location in Chinatown. I loge their food. Their smoothies are also very fresh and delicious. Good prices and portions! Clean restaurant and good service.

the Best in Cantonese Food. Good Service and very friendly owner, Andy. I have been told that their Head Chef worked with the Peninsular Group before came to open their own restaurant with friend.

Called before I ordered delivery to see if the pepper steak has red and green peppers as it does not specify on the menu - he said yes. It ended up coming with green peppers and black beans. The vegetarian fried rice tasted cheap. And the vegetarian egg rolls were more like spring rolls.

We ordered 4-5 dishes and everything was good. Food's spice level is good for toddlers as well. Kids enjoyed noodles. Have lot of good options with 3 level of spice. There is nothing wrong with service, its just nothing extra. No one comes and asks if you need something else as well or if anything missing in food etc. But once you ask staff for anything, they are quickly available to help. Have multiple tables which can accomade 10-12 people easily.

look at the so called tomato sauce in the photo. No tomatoes in that saucefor sure. Horrible taste. One star for food.

Try the lamb curry! So aromatic and flavorful. Definitely a must try. The place is usually pretty busy, with lots of regular customers and decent service. Update for 2021: oh my stars and heavens, my favourite Chinese place in Chicago not only survived the pandemic, but it got swanky new digs in the South loop!! Amazing food, great service. Come here for chachaanteng classics like corn and chicken soup, coffee-milk melange, and seafood casserole. The cumin spiced lamb is still my favourite, but their Sichuan poached fish and their beef lung in chili oil are some of my other favourites. I love this place!!!

Loved this restaurant! Great service and authentic, reasonably priced Chinese food! Offers take out and delivery as well.

My Place never misses! My go-to meal is the orange chicken combo box with BBQ pork fried rice - comes with an egg roll for $12 bucks! The portions are huge - I can get at least 2 meals out of the combo box. Their XO rice noodles with beef is another favorite with the perfect amount of spice. The service is always fast and friendly. Easily my favorite restaurant in all of South Loop. Five stars!

Stopped at My Place on a walk for the second time this week because I am obsessed with their fruit smoothies. The very best boba drinks I've ever had. Pleases the kiddos too. The staff is super helpful and the decor in the restaurant is so cool. The food looks amazing but I will have to update my review once we get the chance to dine...but if it is anything like these smoothies we will be in for quite a treat. Highly recommend.

Amazing service!! We sat down and ordered within 5 minutes, and our food followed shortly after. The food was AMAZING! Fresh, delicious and well presented. We will definitely be back

They make the best non-dairy smoothies in south loop. I really prefer their mango smoothie over the fresh fruit smoothies in Chinatown. Most of the ones we've tried were great even with no added sugar (you have to ask for no sugar when ordering: there isn't an option online or stated on the menu).

This food was absolutely delicious. They had a large portion offered for not too expensive a price. After having some delicious chicken and noodles, we were thankful with the kind Service that we had serve us the delicious food. If you have the chance, definitely make the time to visit, especially after a short walk from the museums campus.

Jason the bartender is the coolest guy ever. Also, almost every single item on their menu is delicious. Rock solid execution of all the staples and their smoothies, apps and specialty dishes are fantastic as well. Also, extremely quick for pickup and delivery.

Very authentic Cantonese restaurant! I love their Portuguese chicken over rice, satay beef noodle soup, salt and pepper chicken wings, and congee. Their lunch menu and afternoon menu have very good prices ($9 for meal and a drink). Their milk tea is incredible. Highly recommend.
