A lovely low-wave beach, great for a swim and for kids. Rocky peor, nice view and plenty of parking, a kiosk and grass area.

The beach is nice, well-equipped, the water quality acceptable, the annoying side of this beach is the fragmentation of shells mixed with the not-so-fine sand, which is very annoying for the feet.

One of my favourite places in Melbourne. A good walk along the shores, sunset spots, a retired war ship which is turned into a museum, boat rides, food, drinks, good atmosphere! It has everything!

One of the truly gifted scenario by mother nature and there is dog place to go through and jacking and walking place to move around the beach and good for cycling too and there are some spots for beautiful photographs specially at the time of golden hour or sunset

The beach is close to public transport and is perfect for little kids because the water is so shallow and so flat. There are plenty of playgrounds nearby and public toilets too.

It is the most crowded beach and easy to reach by train or car from Melbourne city. The water is shallow and clean. There are many kids playgrounds nearby. There are public toilets also beside the restaurants on the beach. The beach offers spectacular views of the water. The locality is also nice. It is surely one of the best beaches and offers a lot of activities. It is ideal for a whole day picnic for families.

A great harbor town for family gatheringsใ€‚The big boat port at the pier whether it is sunrise or sunset, it is so beautiful! Walking along the beach, feed the pigeons, visit the beautiful shopping street with historical memory, delicious Pizza , ice cream, the little sweetness satisfies the monotonous rhythm of life. On the return trip, we wave goodbye to the ocean-going ship anchored in the sea. Good bye, goodbye----

The best spot for sunset watching and photo taking. Walk along The Esplanade towards the dog off leash grass area for some great views, but really anywhere along The Esplanade is amazing. Get there before 8pm during Summer to watch the sun go down.

Beautiful beach, not crowded, great area for picnic and great time to spend your weekend. The toilets are a downside and the beach is the upside.

Family friendly beach and feels relaxing when we visit around sunset time. One of the best beaches for watching the sunset. The esplanade is good for evening walks. There are benches along the walk path to be seated and experience the sunset. There are no shops/restaurants close to the beach, but a short walk will take you to the main road where you have some takeaway shops.

Very nice little beach, with nearby picnic tables and snacks/coffee. Walking distance from the railway station and botanical gardens. Dogs (when allowed) should be on leash, but aren't always in reality.

Beautiful beach โ›ฑ๏ธ though the chips at the fish and chip rotunda surprised me as they seemed to come out of a packet and not be the chips I was craving.

  • 5/5 Michelle B. 6 months ago on Google
Great beach, protected by sea walls, so no huge waves. Cafes and fish n chip shop by the beach too. Parking is paid, $5 per hour.

  • 5/5 Mohammad H. 6 months ago on Google
Probably one of the better beaches around this place. It's windy and the nearby park is hard to sit on with high winds, but the beach is where the most fun is.

  • 1/5 Robbie C. 6 months ago on Google
The beach itself is great. However, parking is $5 per hour. You would think with all that money, the council would be able to keep the facilities clean. Not so. The $5 per hour is clearly a money making operation. If you want free parking and less crowds, head to Werribee South beach.

Nice sandy beach. No waves at all. Water is calm and clean. Good place to visit with younger kids. Only 1 cafe/ kiosk near by. Make sure to bring your own food.

Williamstown beach is quite nice, generally always peaceful and enjoyable. The beach itself is relatively small, but it still offers a very nice open view. Compared to many beaches in Australia is obviously nothing special, but in Melbourne in Port Philip bay is definitely worth a look. You can explore a few things around the area as well.

Summer weekend is always popular for local but if you come in the early morning before 9am is the best time ! Beach is quiet , calm, clean and beautiful. I love this beach . But compare to 20 years ago, I canโ€™t see much fish in the water or beautiful sea shells in the beach which is sad . There is nice botanic garden near beach for picnic or just chill out. Bbq facility , toilet & shower, cafe & restaurant , fish & chips shop at the beach . This is not dog free beach but there are some people walking with dogs with no leads , just be aware. Itโ€™s fun for snorkelling around rock area as well.

I enjoyed the peaceful ambience of Williamstown Beach. It was a beautiful warm night, and it was busy. A lot of people out under their umbrellas and tents and enjoy the sun. It lifted everyone's spirits. Unfortunately, the beach smelt quite bad when we went, but we soon made our way to get some ice cream and enjoy the rest of what Williamstown had to offer.

It's a nice place it seems granted I was there while the smoke from the bush fires were looming so I couldn't stay long. The prime minister should really do more to fix that instead of vacationing and procrastinating on his duties. That's the vibe I get from the locals

Williamstown Beach is located just south of the Williamstown Railway Station. It is also backed by the Esplanade, making it a very accessible beach. A foreshore reserve is located at the eastern end and contains the Anglers Club, the pier, a car park, a park and a picnic area.

  • 2/5 Adam M. 3 years ago on Google
Too crowded, dirty beach, water drainage out into the ocean puts me off even dipping into the water. Parking is $4.80 per hour, what a ripp. Sand is yellow brown and not that soft. I would recommend this beach. Iโ€™d only recommend this beach for local residents in western Melbourne looking for conscience.

Was empty when I visited once and filled with too many people when I went again. Coarse sand and pipe which leads to the sea, not sure why parents would allow their parents to play in the sea. Lovely rocks and walk along the promenade and dog park as long as the wind blows in a favourable direction.

Australia has thousands of miles of pristine, clean beaches. This is not one of it. Not properly cleaned, and a bit overcrowded, this place could use an upgrade. I also noticed a lot of people parking there without paying parking fees.
