Spectacular view from the top and also on the trail. First 2/3 is nice walk up the hill and last 1/3 is a bit climbing and rocky. Totally worth the hike. I went through the fence and arrived at the top within 45 min (fast pace), looked the sunset and came back with 45min (with flashlight).

Amazing views from the top, highly recommend it! The track takes about 3 and a half hours up and down (7km in total). First two thirds are basically a walk through the forest and are very easy for anyone. The last third is more challenging but if you’re of average fitness you shouldn’t have any issues. There is a lot of reviews suggesting that you have to climb, need a guide or/and be a professional climber - that’s not true. In the toughest parts you have to scramble a little but definitely nothing close to actual climbing and perfectly fine without a guide. If you have hiked up Snowdon, this should be a walk in the park. If you don’t feel like going all the way to the top you still have some stunning views from the mid point!

Great hike, but not an easy one! As most people are writing here, the first part is an easy hike with some amazing viewpoints. The second part is a climb. You need to use all 4 limbs most of the time, wear shoes with good grip, not be afraid of heights, and have somewhat of good physical condition. Otherwise, it will get hard and dangerous at some points. Perfect for people who love a bit of adventure. The view at the top is absolutely magnificent, though! Like nothing I have ever seen before. MUST do while in Mauritius. We did not use a guide.

Le Morne Brabant rises majestically in the southwest of the island of Mauritius, almost like a lighthouse. At the foot of Le Morne lie the sandy beaches made of the finest coral sand. Le Morne Brabant is a 556 meter high mountain on the peninsula of the same name in the southwest of Mauritius. It is best seen from a lofty height. For me it was a breathtaking and totally beautiful destination.

The view is definitely unique, but that probably doesn't need to be explained. Anyone who wants to go up here knows why 😉 First of all, arriving by car is not an exclusion criterion. Just drive carefully and it won't be a problem at all. The climb is more problematic if you want to climb up there with loose shoes or even bad weather. It's actually really fun to climb up there. Just be careful and don't be arrogant. What was actually dangerous was the mass of people who also climbed up and down. The loose stones that fly down are simply extremely dangerous. In my opinion, you can save yourself a guide, but everyone can and must decide for themselves. We didn't need one. It was definitely all worth it because once you get to the top it is beautiful

Unique view! You have to be here! Important! Wear hiking boots - the climb, especially the second half, is very steep and rocky for climbing on all four hands. Inexperienced people should not plan this as an experience! The stones are incredibly slippery when it has rained. Then you shouldn't even go up because it's really dangerous!

Fantastic hike, quite challenging but doable. A guide is unnecessary if you're fit and aware of your abilities. It does get dangerous near the top--stop if you feel uncomfortable and do not attempt in windy or rainy weather. You can go around the fenced off portion of the trail about two-thirds up.

Worth every sweat and every step. Anyone can manage without a guide as the pathway up and down is the same. However be as light as possible and do bring water along. Beyond the green gate, the real challenge begins, from flat to downright OMG, but still with patience anybody can do it to the top. You will at some point be tempted to quit but the view on the top is simply worth it. The way down requires much more effort and is quite exhausting as such a glucose pack snack would be most welcome. See the pictures for a clearer idea. Anyone familiar with hiking would spent roughly 3 hours up and down.

This was definitely a hike worth doing, but don't be fooled this is an advanced/intermediate hike! The first half of the 3.6 km hike is just simple and easy switchbacks and the second half was an intense scramble. We made the mistake of not bringing enough water with us which made the hike slightly more dangerous. That being said the view at the top was very picturesque and the hiking trail wasn't overcrowded (BIG PLUS)

I went with a guide, and it was amazing. I went with explorersmauritius (search on Google), and Bryn (the guide) was amazing and very knowledgeable on how to get the group safely to the top and down, and also about the mountain and Mauritius history. The hike is worth doing, fantastic views and quite an exercise. Wouldn't recommend for unfit people, there are some steep climbs, but nothing too dangerous. Note that for the hike you need a registered guide, but many people choose to go without, and they face the possibility to be fined for that (I haven't seen any guards or someone monitoring there though).

Views are incredible, you will need a total of 3h to complete the tour but completely worst it. You don't need a guide anymore and honestly is not needed. Parking in the area is also free. One of the best things to do in Mauritius

Beautiful part of the world! Hike to the top for a fantastic view. The trail is super clear and not challenging if you are moderately fit and have done some scrambling or climbing before. Go early (5-5:30am is ideal) for a quiet hike with nobody around. It took us about an hour from the kite surfing beach to the top, and we were the first up there. Just don't wear flip flops and you'll be fine. Also bring a litre of water per person and a wee snack. Enjoy a well earned swim at the beach afterwards.

The view from Sea is little amazing. The trek to this place is amazing and memorable. Serene and good place for nature lovers.

Very nice view and the hike was perfect. Be careful the sun might be very strong sometimes 😁

The view is top here, and it totally worth the effort. The last 1/3 hike is a bit challenging so hiking shoes are strongly recommended. My 70 years old dad made it and he didn’t have much hiking experience. So don’t be scared. We did up and down 7 hours in total incl many photo stops. Bring proper shoes and water, climb carefully and enjoy the breathtaking views!

Top! For me the highlight of the trip was to climb this! Make sure you have enough water and set off early in the morning to avoid the heat. The views are stunning. Nice and moderate hike with scramble towards the end. Really enjoyed that one!

It‘s a 3,5km one way, 675m elevation hike. The last 1/3 is partially rock climbing with no safety fixed ropes you might be used to in the alps. When I was there the security guard was already at the gate at 06:30 AM. You will need to sign in and out. When I went up it had rained and still drizzled which made the rocks slippery and muddy. The view is incredible although it was foggy/cloudy when I was up. The path and trail are easy to follow, parking was available and plentiful.

Mauritius has many beautiful places other than Mount Le Morne, but the experience of climbing up here and the stunning views are unforgettable. I was even more disappointed that I couldn't see the view properly due to the heavy rain, but it was still a great experience. It's not that difficult, so I recommend taking your time and climbing it.

The most beautiful hike we have done on the island. It's a steep climb but the view is slightly worth it! On the other hand, don't go there with children or really non-athletic people.

Gate closed at the bottom, The small path further blocked by someone who tells me that I need a guide to go up. So I walk on the lower path and I meet two young people who, as luck would have it, are guides.... And they offer me a ride in exchange for funding which I decline. In short, a shame for my family.

Beautiful place to visit. Hiking up le Morne took us two hours up and down. It's a hard hike especially if you have not done hiking before. You have to climb at times. But overall when you get to the top the views are just breathtaking. It's a must see place!
