Friendly staff and great breakfast! I stayed for 2 nights in a king room. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. As mentioned in other reviews, the room was a little dated; however, nothing terrible. Parking was nice in the ramp, and the elevator opened right to the hotel lobby. You do have to pay for breakfast, but there were a lot of options, and in my opinion, it was worth it. I would recommend the hotel! There wasn't a lot of traffic downtown on the weekend so that was nice as well.

Loved my stay here! Clean rooms, quiet, extremely friendly staff. They supplied me with water upon check in, we’re able to answer my questions about where to see the Monday night football game and had a great restaurant attached. The staff was very knowledgeable about the skyways as well and also were able to assist me in securing a taxi for my 5am departure. Will definitely stay here again!!

We stayed at this location for one night because we were attending a later-evening Minnesota Wild game at Xcel Energy Center. First of all, the parking. Following directions to the hotel leads to a covered circular drive that would be suitable for people unloading in inclement weather, but only after you've done the loop do you see a sign that parking can be found at the next left turn, in the large garage for Town Centre. That garage is convenient, and again, fully covered, and we had a very short walk to an elevator to access the lobby. Constant signs telling people to secure all valuables and lock their cars don't encourage confidence in the security of the facility, though. Our check-in was done in about a minute. We were provided with keys and hot, tasty cookies. Our room was on the 16th floor. I'd hoped that meant a nice view, but no. We could see an ugly roof and tall buildings. The room was u-shaped. The bedroom included a bed, desk, office chair, two upholstered chairs, and TV, while the hall right outside the bathroom had a nook with a coffee pot and mini fridge. The bathroom is TINY. Like, the door almost hits the toilet as it opens. There is a bathroom counter, thankfully. The shower wasn't hard to operate but sprayed with so much power that water bounced off the opposite wall to create a puddle on the floor just outside the curtain. The room and overall facilities look incredibly worn. The bedside clock showed a time several hours ahead, and we found that it apparently requires a screwdriver to change the time, so we couldn't fix it. I hurriedly put a water bottle in the fridge before we went to the game, and I was annoyed the next morning to find that it was half frozen. Some previous guest had apparently put the fridge's cold setting to the max. The freezer box had so much crusted ice (see picture) that it's almost unusable. I set the cold to midrange so that the next people hopefully don't have items ruined, but the hotel should really do something about the ice. The bed was extremely comfortable. The air conditioner ran almost constantly, which was surprisingly since it was in the 20s outside during our stay, and that created the only noise. On the 16th floor, we heard nothing from the road. Nothing from the hallway or other floors, either. Now, to the issue of accessing the game, which was the big reason we stayed here. The front desk kindly supplied us with printed directions to use the skyways. Those directions were not up-to-date. Using the skyways at 5pm on Friday, when the corridors were empty except for us for about 90% of the way, was pretty creepy. We thought they'd be busier as we came back from the game, but they were not, but we did end up helping a pair of women who were also staying at the hotel, as they were looking at the same directions and feeling lost. The next morning, check-out was fast as my husband used the app, and we just had to drop our keys in a box. Our car was fine in the neighboring garage. I'm left feeling like this was an okay place for our needs, but I don't think I'd be enthused about staying here again.

Although slightly dated the excellent staff totally made our stay enjoyable. From the smiles and cookies when we were allowed to check in early, to the help getting airport transportation and the conversation with staff while dining we totally felt welcome! Excellent location while attending concert at Xcel center. Staff gave us directions for a safe short walk. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

This hotel is conveniently located next to the Xcel center and lots of other venues. While a lot of exciting events go on in downtown St Paul, we all know this isn’t the nicest area of the city. However, the staff at this hotel are so friendly and inviting you forget about that, and they put up with a lot. The rooms could use a bit of a deep clean and remodeling, but for the price it’s a great option.

Plans were to be in St Paul for a concert on a Saturday night. Unfortunately the friend I was going with had to admit his mother to the hospital for pneumonia. I called the hotel as soon as I found out on the Tuesday before (after their Monday cancellation deadline) and they were unwilling to work with me. I understand it is their policy but still disappointed based on our circumstance. Been a loyal Hilton customer for years but this will certainly make me rethink my choices in the future.

Let me just say this, Anita Anunciacion was the entire reason why I love this hotel and my stay was AMAZING! She really took care of us! We had some special accommodations, and she was so helpful and nice. She made us feel welcome and made our stay the best of this entire trip. We drove 1600 miles from South Texas to come up to Minnesota. We stayed a little over a week, this was our last stay of the trip and we decided to stay in the city for the convenience. We travel with a service animal, and we're used to being treated differently. We get all the looks, and stares and questions everywhere we go unfortunately. NOT HERE! Anita was just so genuine in helping us and took care of everything we needed. She really knows how to show hospitality. The hotel was great, the amenities were nice, although we didn't have time to use them. When I come back to the cities next time, THE REASON I'M GOING TO STAY HERE IS BECAUSE OF ANITA! Thank you, Anita!

Staff is great. The hotel is a little on the older side but very comfortable. Jack at the front desk was great and went out of his way to make sure I had a good stay. The restaurant was average. There was a concert during my stay so the wait time was really long but not something they could control.

Nice hotel, but wow downtown is dead! The lobby smells amazing from the restaurant on site. Rooms are typically for a Hilton. Parking is underground. Easy to navigate as long as you enter on the North side of hotel. Water was hot. Bed was good. It is a safe hotel.

The rooms were clean but a bit older. The facility was solid and in a very convenient location. Some staff were very nice, others not so much. The hotel sports bar was great downstairs for a meal.

We hosted our wedding reception here and it was so beautiful. We had lots of out of town guests so to host our wedding reception and block off hotel rooms worked out really well for our guests. Sheila and her staff did a phenomenal job! Sheila was easy to work and made the planning really fun. Both Sheila and her staff on our wedding day knocked it out of the park. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch, the bartenders kept our guest entertained, and everyone had fun. The atrium allow for natural light to peak in and helped make our day even more beautiful. This venue was absolutely perfect!

I had our wedding block and rehearsal dinner here at it was the worst. Sheila, the coordinator of both, was the only stressor of my wedding. First, the link for our block stopped working a week before the block was up and her and her team didn’t answer several of my voicemails or emails. Many of my guests didn’t get the discount and were excluded from the block due to this. Then, we picked the rehearsal space because it said it could host a certain amount of people and have ping pong tables which we wanted for entertainment for our guests. On the day of Sheila and her team told me that it was a marketing ploy and that they couldn’t actually fit the tables in with our guests. It said it could hold 60 people with ping pong tables and we only had 30. Then she was condescending on the phone as I was very confused with what was online and what she was telling me. If I could go back in time and change our wedding block and rehearsal dinner space I would. 0/10 recommend.

The lobby was gorgeous but the rooms were outdated. Booked a king room and they oversold so we ended up in a double room. Those beds aren’t great for tall people. But, we made due. Valet was great but it took forever to get our car.

We attended a wedding, and it was a great venue with two rooms. The atrium where the wedding took place was quickly reset for a lovely sit down dinner while the reception took place next door. The staff was efficient and excellent. Good food quality and quantity. If you're planning an event, would highly recommend the Double Tree!!

Management says this hotel will soon be remodeled - it needs it. Smoke detector began chirping at 4:00 am. Someone arrived quickly to replace battery, but this should be annual maintenance. Signs say vending machines on floors, but they have been removed. Front desk ran out of bottled water. Ice machine broken. Can't cast to in-room TV. Bathroom door difficult to close. Carpet in hallways appears water damaged. Armrests on chairs are worn. Doesn't live up to Hilton brand.

The location is excellent if you are seeing a show at the Palace Theatre. Easy walking distance! The room was fine. Nothing special, but very clean and comfortable. No convenient power outlets near the beds. We had to unplug the alarm clock to use the outlet. There’s an outlet in the lamp base, but the placement of the outlet does not allow an Apple charging block to fit in the outlet. Getting into the parking ramp is a little confusing and the ramp itself is not clearly marked with directions on how to get into the hotel. We were disappointed to find the bar/restaurant closed when we arrived back at the hotel after the concert. It was not even 11pm on a Friday night. Very surprised that they closed so early.

Not a bad hotel for the price, rooms need some upgrading, rust on the metal fixtures in the bathroom. But the bed was comfortable and the bar was great.

    1. Specifically asked front desk if I could get back in through the front door (10:30) I was told yes for the next 15 min. Ended up having to get back in by going through the garage because the front door was locked and the guy at the front desk just stared at me. 2. Mold in the sink and shower area. 3. AC/HVAC doesn't work. 4. Rooms are dated, but I can live with that. 5. Paper thin walls you could hear a mouse walk down the hallway, (didn't see any, but wouldn't surprise me) 6. +$20 for parking in the hotel ramp. 7. Love the location and view was nice, it was near an event we were attending. Overall I was upset, in the future with my visits to St Paul I will just spend the extra $20 on a hotel that will give clean rooms and good service. I cannot recommend!

My complaint is for the Rival House which is the eating part of the hotel. The last time I stayed here the front desk through away a $60 food delivery. Tori Nalls gave me a $60 business card for reimbursement. The Rival House wouldn't accept it. They said, " I need to spend $60 in the a la carte section of the hotel." Then the Rival House manager and bartender decided to close the section an hour early on a Saturday night. As I sat and watched the bartender(Sam) speak to the guests he turned away at least 16 people. This was just in the 20 minutes I was there. The hotel rooms and free cookies are nice, but this customer service workers need development. I come to this are 4-5 times a year for work and now I'm choosing a different hotel to stay at.

Pretty much a dump now. Dated Furniture, dingy rooms, dirty bathrooms, horrific lighting. Moved rooms due to smoking on the floor that seeped into my room. The Lamp from the roadside Motel says it all. I have never stayed in a Hilton Hotel in such disrepair.

My family and I stopped here on our way through headed home from a week in the boundary waters. Everyone was very friendly. We booked late at night and showed up even later but the staff was very ready to help. Unfortunately we did not get the two double bed rooms we requested so that everyone could get their own bed but they did say they were full with a wedding and wrestling. That being said It would have been really nice to know that it would not be what we requested before we got up to our rooms. That being said the 5 stars reflect the rest of our stay! My room was immaculate, the cookies were warm, the shower was so clean and refreshing, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The next morning we enjoyed a very hot and fresh breakfast on the second floor where Moe was very attentive to our coffee and needs! The coffee was fresh and hot and the bacon perfectly cooked! You could tell the staff are all hard workers! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would like to personally thank each of the staff members we had the chance to interact with!

We were supposed to check in at 3PM. We got there right on time but the manager told us that the room wasn't ready so we waited patiently but it literally took them 50mins to get us our room. I understand that they were busy but communication would have been good as we have a little toddler with us who was already tired of travel and then had to wait almost an hour to get to the room. I think there is room for improvement in terms of maintaining the building as the room itself looks a little run down and bathroom mirrors weren't cleaned up.

Convenient location and friendly staff but rooms should to be renovated. The heater at the room did not work and I asked them to move me to another room. They told me that most of rooms have the same problem. They provided a portable heater. The hot breakfast is the same scramble eggs everyday and it is not available on Sunday even if you already paid for it.

We stayed here as it is close to the Excel Center and we were able to walk to the concert. The over all experience was good. I appreciated security measures in place, using your key to access elevator to room, it made me feel safer. Staff was nice and helpful when asked questions. However the thermostat in our room was broken and it was hot! Thankfully we were able to crack the window open for fresh air!

Clean room. Friendly, helpful staff. Had confusion about the breakfast being included so I paid and they refunded me back my money after filling out a survey for them. I would definitely recommend them. Located 5 minutes from our venue and easy to find. Great trip.

Just got married. Literally booked an entire block of rooms for about 20-30 couples. We were told we were given a free wedding suite after twenty or so of our guests booked rooms and we were given a GROSS standard room with two FULL beds that was the equivalent to a sardine can, for a newly married couple. If we would have known that the room was going to be like this we would have just booked at one of the many other hotel rooms in downtown St. Paul. Stayed at the Spring Hill suites the night before and they made us feel much better about the situation, also welcomed us and made us feel like we just got married and not that we were a burden for coming in after the reception ended.

  • 2/5 Caleb R. 1 year ago on Google
I checked in to my room early to secure a specific room with fellow members of the wedding. When I went to get my keys, the room had been changed and my key didn't work because someone was in the room they had given me. It took 45 minutes to get into my room from the time I got my keys. The front desk didn't have their microphone on while the Engineering tech was doing his best to help us after the end of his shift, which we greatly appreciated. The front desk woman didn't seem bothered and was very dismissive about the situation. It was a pretty disappointing end to my best friend's wedding night.

Room was clean, sheets were clean...thank you for this. The room was very dated, wall paper peeling, and carpet was frayed. I hadn't checked out yet as of 10am and someone opened our door! I did not appreciate that at all. I also didn't like to have to pay for parking at the hotel I am paying to stay in. I did not pay for parking the last time I stayed in November. The location is awesome for Palace Theater concerts.

  • 4/5 Barbara C. 1 year ago on Google
There is no onsite parking available at any time. The parking is in a parking structure near the hotel and costs $25.00 per day. If you leave the parking structure you pay $25 09 for as little as 3 hours. When you return and leave again you will pay again. So you could pay more than $25.00 per day just to park. I feel that if you are staying at the hotel this should be comped by the hotel. I have never experienced this at any other hotel in any other state and that includes many large cities. The hotel did provide warm chocolate chip cookies and water. That was nice. The beds were comfortable. The front of the hotel has a small area for parking to get into the hotel to register, take bags to the room and then come back to your vehicle and park in the parking structure and then walk back to your hotel room from the parking structure. To me it is very inconvenient and like I said paying to park is not ideal. I don't plan to ever stay there again.

Super small room and bathroom. Room was not in good shape: broken lamps, mattresses super warn and outlets didn't work. The heating/cooling unit was broken. Our room was so hot the entire time; caused troubles sleeping or getting comfortable. We opened the window and some cool air came in; otherwise, I don't think we could have stayed in that room. With the window open the police and fire sirens in the middle of the night kept you awake. Pool is tiny and no hot tub. They charge $16 for a buffet breakfast that should be continental.

  • 4/5 Mike W. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are a little dark and the noise from the light rail bells come into the room even up to the top floors. Otherwise the rooms are nice. The refrigerator and microwave in the room are a nice convenience. Easy access to the St. Paul skyway system is a huge plus.

My stay at the DoubleTree Hotel St. Paul Downtown was great! I had a block of rooms there for my wedding which was 10/29 nearby this hotel! It was the perfect location to be close to public transportation for my out of town guests as well as walking distance to my venue! I worked with several people along the way, each of which made my stay exactly perfect! The hotel was able to provide a few extra items for us the first night (extension cord, glue gun and extra garbage bags) because we were making bouquets in my room for the wedding! They were super helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. I was able to get a late checkout on Sunday which was great since we wanted to have breakfast with our friends and do gift opening in our room prior to leaving. Overall great experience and I'd highly recommend staying here!

First thing, great staff. Every staff member we crossed paths with was pleasant and helpful. Biggest kudos to Anita that checked us in. Gave info on best places to eat and gave hints on best way to navigate and get around downtown! The hotel is older as others have said and not a ton open as we thought would be. Alliance Bank Center hard to get through and not a lot of restaurants open there like we thought, but still walking distance to Xcel Arena and other food options. Overall room was clean, good price, restaurant in lobby was open, so overall, 5 stars because to me customer service makes or breaks it and their customer service is top notch.

  • 4/5 Robert W. 1 year ago on Google
Great room, fair price. Clean, decent bed. Free breakfast voucher for nice buffet. Not real crazy about this downtown area. Bit sketchy. Hotel has a good bar and restaurant, so no need to leave. Definitely repeat.

Parking was a hassle. We paid for the parking included with our room. When we went to leave the parking garage, the hotel staff at the front desk told the woman on the parking intercom kiosk that we did not pay for parking when our code was not working. We explained the situation to the intercom lady, and she ignored us, then said “drive safe” and hung up. We went back inside to get the hotel staff to help. The hotel staff came outside and we tried to call the intercom woman again. She ignored the call for close to 2 minutes. When she answered, the hotel staff told her she had made a mistake and we actually did have parking because “we were with the wedding party.” This was untrue. We did pay for parking with our room though. If there wasn’t a wedding going on, we would’ve had to pay another unnecessary $22 for parking. The actual wedding party that was staying at the hotel was extremely drunk and obnoxious. I was woken up about 5 times at all hours of the night from yelling. The bathroom had yellow dirt, dust, stains, and filth in all of the corners. The bathtub had old moldy caulking. The bolts that hold the toilet seat down had a ring of filth under and around it. The water pressure is also absolutely terrible. The only pros about this place is the breakfast isn’t bad and kitchen staff are great. The fact that the hotel is so close to everything and connected to skyways is the only reason I would ever stay here. The bed was decently comfortable.

  • 2/5 Lillian C. 1 year ago on Google
Parking is underground for $22 per night. The check in staff was professional. We picked this hotel because of proximity to where we needed to be and their -perceived- amenities. The food at the restaurant was so salty we only ate a small portion of our food. The breakfast was $15 per person, was good and the staff were really attentive. The quality I expected from Hilton. The room was clean and spacious. But because of the holiday, their restaurant was closed the next day/night. With everyone else in the proximity closed also (we walked around for blocks), we didn’t have any food options. There was a gift shop that had candy, chips, drinks, small boxed salad with only Blue Cheese dressing, and boxed meat sandwiches. Since the sandwiches have most likely been in there a while, it wasn’t really edible. Hilton let me down this time.

Don’t waste your money on the suite. It’s the worst “nice” room I’ve ever been in. It’s old and outdated. The roof has poorly repaired water damage and peeling popcorn ceiling. I specifically asked for a 1 bedroom suite and it’s not. Its basically an old conference room with a bed in one area. No privacy space at all. The TVs are nice and the guy at front desk was very nice although he’s said they get complaints all the time about expectations.

  • 3/5 Michelle L. 1 year ago on Google
Expect to pay for anything besides the complimentary cookies and waters when checking in. Parking will be billed and breakfast will be billed. The bathroom was so tiny, when opening and closing the door it pretty much touches the toilet, so keep in mind if you need more leg space or are a larger person. Honestly the only reason to stay here is the convenience of being close to downtown.

I've stayed several times and generally the rooms are good and the desk staff awesome. This visit 2/5-2/8 the cleaning of the room was awful-the third day they didn't vacuum (they left paper on the floor-not there from me/when I stepped out for the day), didn't take the trash or towels and left a clean towel and washcloth sitting on the desk instead of putting in the bathrm. There's dust all over the nightstand (been there awhile) and they half a$$ made the bed. My other trips the cleanliness was ok, not sure what's happening now. That said, desk staff is friendly and it's a convenient location.

Rooms aren't as nice as they used to be. The room was very hot. There was no A/C and the fan would not adjust, it was 72+ in the room at all times, couldn't open a window. The water under the main sink leaked and the toilet had to think about it before each flush! The staff is great, the location was great for why we were there but dang, it was a sweaty room.
