If you are looking for a friendly, comfortable, delicious, clean place to eat, sit, work, and/or relax, American Falafel checks all of the boxes. The hospitality is unmatched and is consistent with every visit. The quality and authenticity of the food is equally consistent— complex in flavor, extremely reasonably-priced, and the portion sizes are generous and filling. There are a variety of dishes and options to choose from, ranging from dips/spreads (great to share OR get them to-go and bring to a party), shawarma wraps, and full-plate “skillet”-type meals, which makes it an accessible dining experience based on how hungry you are, your food-mood, or how much time that you have, though the food comes out quickly (without compromising quality or presentation) every time. Though one can get dishes such as falafels and hummus many places around town, the intentionality and flavors behind Chef Feras’s authentic Jordanian street-food approach really sets American Falafel apart. The falafels themselves are the most flavorful that I’ve tried *anywhere*, and each falafel “bite” is about the size of a lemon (you can get 5 for $6 which could suffice as a meal by itself!) New to food from this part of the world? Ask for a recommendation - they’re so happy to help. Even if you just stop in to relax or say hello, owner Mohammed is always quick with warm greetings and a cup of seriously unmatchable hot Jordanian Bedouin tea with fresh mint. PS - there’s wifi, outdoor seating, and they’re pup-friendly. 🙂 🐶 don’t wait! 😋 🇵🇸

Good menu selection with several wraps (which they call a warm bread roll) and salads, hummus, falafel etc. Everything was fresh and presented well. The COVID-19 is still in effect, and they did a good job of packaging the order for take out. A very positive first experience.

Had to get food on the way to the airport and I was very glad I stopped here. The worker/owner was such a delight. So friendly and gave great recommendations. I had the beef and chicken bowl and this was delicious! Such a large portion and very light and healthy.

Wonderful first visit with American Falafel! The owner and chef were very friendly and took time to walk me through the menu. I told them I don't like Tabbouleh and he said, "Because there's too much cilantro, right?" He was right! He then proceeded to make me a complimentary bowl of it and let me tell you... JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CILANTRO. The main course, Jordanian Galaya, was made to order and even better than the tabbouleh. As a local, I highly recommend American Falafel for visitors of the Loop.

A must go to place for anyone loving middle eastern cousins! Fabulous Baba Ghanoush and the falafel sandwich even better. Highly recommend to try it! And the outdoor seating is just a great location on Delmar’s Loop.

Simply amazing. We ordered the Tabbouleh to split amongst three people as well as the Jordanian, the chicken Sumac Sandwich, and the falafel. Everything was absolutely amazing to say the least. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and served fresh. Reasonably for the quality and amount of food given. The most remarkable part of our experience was meeting the owner that took time to explain the entire menu items to us. He also took the time to go outside to say hello to our friend that had eaten there previously. Clearly someone that cares about their customer experience.

Great falafel. Their tahini and hummus are delicious. I've never been a huge fan of chickpeas (the texture in falafel is usually too dry) but I quite enjoyed their falafel sandwich. For $9, the price is also quite reasonable given the quality of the food. I will plan to go back at some point in the near future to try their sides or other offerings.

A neighbor recommended American Falafel and I’m grateful she did! The food was delicious and Moh, the owner, is a great guy. We had a variety of dishes and everything was perfect.

Best falafel I’ve had in a while! Takeout was quick, fresh, and packaged well. Can’t wait to come back and try more menu items!

The best falafel in town, and it comes with great customer service.

Our first experience with Mediterranean food and we were delighted. The Beef Kebob Bowl and Fattoush with Beef Kebob were very flavorful and the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. We enjoyed dining outdoors in the early evening with the busyness of people passing by. The staff was very helpful and patiently explained their menu to us as complete novices.

A stop at American Falafel did not disappoint. While our food was being prepared we enjoyed complimentary hot mint tea, which was a pleasant way to start the meal. We shared an order of falafel bites with tahini sauce and an order of fries with the chicken kabob sandwich and falafel wrap. The restaurant is small and decor is basic, but the food is delicious, but I miss the halloumi sandwich!

Top notch spot! I absolutely love Middle Eastern food and this place doesn’t disappoint. The place is simple but as soon as I came in I was greeted by great customer service. I ordered my food and he even gave me a cup of sweet hot mint tea. Wow it was delicious. I waited a few minutes and he brought out my falafel and hummus side. It was all delicious. Love this place and I’ll be back.

Friendly service with complimentary mint tea when you order. The falafel gets the job done but it’s not life changing. The fries were seasoned well but could have been cooked a bit longer as the bigger ones were still soggy in the middle. Maybe I should have gotten a kebob. They looked really good on the grill.

Wasn’t the best, food was cramped all in black disposable bowl unlike the picture on the screen. Waited a while until the worker noticed me. (He was behind the building when I parked my car next to it) Flavor is good it’s just the customer service, presentation, and definitely small portion for the price.

Really good falafel and chicken schwarma. My main criticism is that the tahini that it came with was pretty runny. I liked the chicken more than the falafel. The pickles were a good touch.

Ordered for take out and it was SOOOO delicious! My husband and I ordered the chicken sumac sandwich and the chicken shawerma and then shared half with each other to be able to taste two tasty dishes in one go. I highly recommend the chicken sumac, that was my personal favorite! We also ordered a side of their fries which ended up being thick steak fries, the best! The inside was also super cute and I look forward to eating there in the future, post covid.

Great little place on the loop! I’ve had several of the savory dishes, as well as every waffle they offer! EVERYTHING is delicious, do not sleep on this place. Friendly staff and great customer service every time. Don’t forget to grab a hot tea on the way out!

American Falafel has yummy food and great customer service. I walked here on a really cold day to get carry out, and they sent me off with a complimentary cup of tea to keep my hands warm! So nice!

The food was excellent and the service was even better. The baba ganoush was definitely the highlight, smoky and tangy in all the right ways. Definitely a place I'll be going back to for a quick delicious lunch.

Owner was super kind and offered us free tea because we had a large group order coming individually to pick up our orders. Good way exceeded expectations! Loaded falafel wrap well worth the price.

The food is always hot, fabulous, and fresh! Every time I eat here I can feel the love and effort that goes into my meals, and I'm blown away by the service I receive. In these stressful and uncertain times getting to eat food from here brightens my day. Thank you! With love and gratitude, Sarah

Although they have only been around for about 6 months, this is the place in STL for Mediterranean food. Nothing fancy except the food....

Chicken Shawerma can with garlic sauce and some fresh veggies and pickle slivers. Everything tasted very fresh and the portions match the price.

The worst part about this place is that I did not find it sooner. Such generous portions, delicious food!

  • 5/5 Elizabeth H. 3 years ago on Google
You could tell the taboleh was made fresh! The Baba ganoush was the right amount of flavor and very creamy! The to go containers were also solid-no leaks and I will reuse them. Going back to try more of their menu.

The DoorDash system messed up my order in their system. Though it was delivered, I made my way to American Falafel the next day and they remade everything that was delivered incorrectly with no additional charge. They are open to accommodate your dietary needs. My thanks to the good people at American Falafel!!! I will order again very soon!!!!!

Get to this great restaurant in the Delmar Loop. You won’t regret it. The food is delicious! The service is good. It’s very clean! Although I loved my entire meal, my favorite thing was the lovely cup of hot tea they provided (on the house). I forget how wonderful a cup of hot tea can be. Between the hot tea, Middle Eastern music and flavor filled food, I felt transported to the Middle East. You will be happy you went!
