Was surprised to an amazing day out to Banham Zoo for Mother's Day this year! I had never been before and it's such a lovely zoo, we enjoyed the sea lion and cheetah talks throughout the day they were very informative. we had an amazing day out and would definitely return in the warmer summer months! I definitely would love to do a giraffe feeding experience here one day as well.

We visited on a Friday in October, so I got my ticket for £9 for an adult! The zoo had so many animals to see. If you're with children, it takes a good day out, but if going as a couple or just adults, it can be done within an hour. Lots of talks are available throughout the day. We did the new question and answer sheet to get a medal at the end for our friends child (16 months). The zoo was clean and tidy for the pram to be pushed round. Staff were very friendly, helpful and approachable.

A very disappointing place these days. They have now stopped doing the bird flying displays and the Amazing Animals indoor show which were the best I've ever seen. To hear that they have dispanded the training team is heartbreaking...we got to know many of them over the years and the zoo is a much poorer place without them. There are dwindling numbers of many species too... Where there were family groups of some animals there are just ones and twos now. Toddler play area has disappeared and many of the areas are now looking tired and neglected. There are still some lovely animals to see but the downward trend is worrying!

Banham Zoo is a brilliant zoo, the animals are well looked after and fed well, there are different times through out the day which you can watch the animals being fed at and listen to the talks. There are different food locations located around the zoo the get lunch or a quick snack from. There is a lovely little gift shop that you can look around near the entrance and it has a range of different products ranging from t-shirts, stuffed toys to tote bags. There is plenty of parking and the disabled parking is located near front of the zoo.

Overpriced to get in and lots of the enclosures are poorly laid out with little to no visibility on some of the more interesting animals. Lots of enclosures empty and overgrown which makes the place look a bit derelict. Animals seem very bored and depressed with lots of them just laying there although the seals where a delight as they always are. Food was disgusting over priced and the women on the till thrust her hand into our box to see what was in it and she wasn't wearing gloves and had been touching the till etc and upon questioning her of this she looked at me like I was mad. The only bit worth the time is the Eureka! zone which had lovely helpful staff running it and was a nice experience watching sloths etc roam about in a tropical biome but it didn't last very long and greedy tourist not following the rules regarding keep moving led to a frustration felt by the whole group. Needs significant improvement and up dating and animals need more enrichment to prevent bordom and pacing.

Another amazing visit, we visited several years ago, this time without grandchildren, we had more time to ponder, sadly thanks to bird flu we didn't get to experience the birds flying, or displaying. But the zoo did not disappoint. I will be going back again. It was great being able to hire a mobility scooter, and very reasonably priced.

A great small and extra clean zoo. There is abundant free parking and many picnic tables. The size might be a benefit for families with kids visiting, since it is not becoming too tiring visiting the zoo. The ticket includes a free ride with the zoo train offering a fast view of the zoo. Also with 10 pounds you can rent a single or double push stroller. Make sure you go and see the sea lion feeding time it's really nice!

We were visiting locally and looking for things to do, found this place last minute and we were not disappointed. We took advantage of the cheaper winter tickets which was amazing also and managed to get around before the bad weather struck. We have been to a lot of zoos but we both said it’s the nicest we’ve been to. What struck us immediately is how clean all the habitats are, and how well maintained all the animals are. I’ve never been as close to wild animals as I did today, to be able to see them like that was just spectacular. We had a go on the land train which was a pleasant little ride. All in all a wonderful experience! Thank you so much!

Had a great time with the family, if there's one thing a zoo needs it's animal's and there were plenty on display. Yes I know some animals weren't meant to be caged but let's face it humans don't have a great track record when it comes to not killing them for sport so Zoo's do have a place in the current system. That being said Banham Zoo had a great variety of animals and the kids loved the huge slide at the playground to finish off a great day.

This lovely zoo is not well known but is not to be missed. Succinct keeper talks and displays, with a wonderful variety of our fellow creatures. Many endangered species are being protected here, but also some healthy companions who we may not have encountered before. Lots of friends from South America. Don't miss the Milky White Eagle Owl!

We have had a season pass for two years and have always enjoyed going to both zoos and the benefits from using them at other venues. Banham zoo is our closest and often pop there for a morning, it’s always so lovely, the animals look well cared for and have lots of space. Also great for my daughter to be able to explore Today I wanted to say how welcoming the team in the pizza cafe, one lady in particular- sorry but didn’t get a name- was so helpful with my buggy and assisting us at the table, and made us feel very special, so I wanted to show my appreciation by leaving top notch review! Thankyou for your kindness!

Lovely afternoon at Banham Zoo, not to many people to bump into. Saw most of the animals and the tigers had some baby cubs ☺️. Downside was some of the indoor areas are closed to (covid) restrictions.. Overall great time.👌

Even though we’ve been many times Banham Zoo still offers a fantastic day. Highlight of the visit has to be the ring tailed lemur enclosure allowing you to get up close with the animals. Sadly the sky walk was closed today. Friendly and clean 👌

A really good small zoo. Nice and clean, with a good variety of animals. The layout is good, you don't get lost or miss anything . As expected , the onsite food vendors are unrealistically expensive so I'd suggest you take your own food if you can. Parking was fine, no issues. The toilets are a bit poor, but it was a really busy day when we went. The prices aren't too bad, but we got £10 tickets on a special offer online .

Love this zoo! Have been going since I was very little. There always something new and different, but also familiar scenes and animals. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The zoo is kept clean and tidy. The animals are well looked after and clearly cared for. There is a massive carpark (plus overflow). The entrance isn't too far from the parking area(s) and all with access for wheelchair users. Throughout the zoo there is access for wheelchair users and is friendly for people with pushchairs also. There are cafes on site, toilets and a gift shop. The prices are what you would expect from a zoo and the quality of the items for sale, either in the cafes or the gift shop are good quality. The price to enter the zoo is the price you would also expect, but there are always offers on, just have to look for them. If you want the option to visit again and again all year there is a pass that can be purchased. It is very child friendly. There is a climbing area/ play area. There is a climbing tower and a train that takes you on a mini tour of the zoo. There are interactive talks on throughout the day. There are areas that you walk among the animals, which are always fun! All in all, a lovely trip out, either by yourself or with family/ friends. If you were to just walk around it would take about 2 hours tops. If you were to watch a show/ talk and have some food etc, it could take you the best part of a day. With that being the case you are allowed to leave the site and go to your car and return as long as you have proof of ticket purchased. The vast array of animals is lovely and the photographs you can get is always exciting.

Had a lovely time here the other day. Great range of animals, cafe was great and the birds of prey show was absolutely amazing. Due to Corona the animal feedings were cancelled but we will visit again when they are on. 10/10 amazing day out. And the campsite next door was perfect for those who travel far to visit the zoo. There are shops, pub and takeaway close by too that are very convenient.

Having visited this view as a child oh so many times, it was time to head back on a lucky day off from work. Was very very pleasant. Only had an afternoon so had about 3 hours there and you definitely need 4 or 5 I'd say minimum. Some really nice animals and you can really close to a lot of them such as the giraffes which was amazing. You could almost stroke them! I didn't eat here...other than a cheeky ice cream (toffee apple & rum!!), but there were plenty of options if needed.

Lovely zoo. Not too big so easy to walk round and see every animal. Not great on a very hot day too many wasps and not enough shade but otherwise great day out for the family. We visited in summer holidays as the zoo had lots of deals on tickets.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Banham Zoological Gardens. The staff were all smiles & very friendly to us, even when it had been pouring heavily outside. Thankfully, as soon as we arrived, the sun started to shine again. The animals are well looked after, and the staff do a great job looking after them. Especially loved seeing the sea lions, sloths, penguins, a Tiger and her cubs plus the giraffes and cheetahs. There's a cafe / pizza shop inside where you can eat, drink and have some ice cream. Also noticed a few seating areas around the park should you need to rest your legs from walking. Toilets with baby changing units were available in the foot paths too. Good sized parking spaces outside too.

Animals looked very depressed. The food areas need a good clean and signs to help form actual ques. Main Park area very clean and tidy, could do with more seating for parents. Staff knew what they were talking about with animals. Unfortunately wouldn't come back, Africa Alive is way better

A lovely day out. Not full and just lovely to be with a great team here.. The team on the talks are funny and entertaining. And just a lovely place... a bit expensive but a lot is given to conservation. The zoo is nice.. worth a visit even cheaper than Colchester..

It's changed alot since I last went there. Unfortunately, all the experience tickets were taken, I loved the giraffes and the tigers. It wasn't nice not having to hustle and bustle to see everything

It's a rather small but very fun zoo, suitable for families. A lot of walks. A few enclosures were empty. Highly suggest you check the exhibition and talk times in advance to plan your trip. If just adults visiting the zoo, a half day ticket is recommended.

Worth the time spent on driving all the way from London, for 3 hours Walking and enjoying all the nature and animals in here we have seen a lot even missed some of the animals, due to limited time we had,as we booked from 2pm,if you going there make sure you be there as earlier as possible and book for 10-11am.Everyone enjoyed the visit, hence some of the animals was looking very tired and without any interest to the visitors as the Zoo is taking about 200 visitors per hour. Overall very good visit, will have to go again at some point to see rest of the animals.

  • 4/5 Mark S. 3 years ago on Google

Visited on the 17th August 2020.. Very much enjoyed our visit to this zoo. We had a great day partially helped by the good weather too. Just a fun day in all. Cafe facilities available but we didn't use. High ropes activity also available. Definitely recommend for families holidaying in the area. Friendly staff too.. Howler monkeys were probably our highlight. £75 for family of 4.

Came on 04.10.2021 for World animal Day, special offer £5 entry fee. This place is big, I got lost a couple of times. Train ride is fun for children and takes you on a tour of the zoo. Long queues at each food outlet but plenty of seats/benches to rest your feet or eat. The zoo is very well kept, lots of bins. Toilets nearest the entrance had long queues but were clean. Each large animal has their own window and it was so great to see the tigers tigers and snow leopards close up. One way system to see the penguins.

Plenty of room so doesn't feel crowded like some zoos when they're busy. A good amount and diversity of animals and viewing is great, you can see most animals whether they're inside or out. Good playpark for the kids and a range of food places.

I was treated to a mystery visit in early December . I enjoyed it , As one would expect it was quiet but happy with that . We had plenty of room to ourselves . My highlights were the Tigers , Penguins , Sea lions . And the Sloth . I should have asked , Does it ever come down from hanging in the roof space ? Whole circuit took about three hours .

We loved our day out at Banham Zoo as a family of four. The zoo isn't too large but sits in beautiful surroundings. There is a wide range of animals and my children loved the bird of prey show which we went to twice and saw vultures, macaws, owls and even an armadillo. It had a good amount of spaces to eat picnics and good choices for food outlets. Our favourite animals were the leopard, giraffes and sea lions.

The zoo it self was lovely as always. But I didn't think the system round the zoo was that great there was more crowds than there is normally. An as a disabled mum. I kept getting yelled abuse in front of my 11 month old baby because I am visually impaired with no depth perception and apparently wasn't social distancing. I had a long cane so quite clear I couldn't see. If it hadn't been for social distancing people wouldn't normally be that rude. Put me off comming back until the rules relax again

What a lovely zoo... all the staff were very friendly. The enclosures were all very clean, tidy and many of them looked new. The zoo has a great selection of endangered animals, many of them in breeding programmes to increase numbers. There was plenty of information around the zoo. Although we didn't use the resources, there were some great activities (top trump style) for children of all ages to do.

Absolutely adorable place - so many animals and a great variety too! Although, they do love their owls - lots of different ones can be found here 😁🦉 Will definitely come back again!

Had a really Fun day out yesterday for the Bank Holiday / My Sons Birthday. It's been 12 years since I last visited Banham Zoo, but the memories came flooding back once walking around. One of the highlights was that with all the big Cats we actually got see them! So many places to view them from. Something that at other zoos may be difficult, but got see every last one! We ate at the Glade and had some delicious baguettes, myself Bacon and Brie and my Partner Bacon and Egg. Service was great in the onsite restaurant and can't complain about the food. My only irk in regards to food and beverages was not at the restaurant but at the kiosks around the park. I felt the prices for a can of drink were a bit much. £2 for a 330ml can of Pepsi just hit differently. But certainly want enough to spoil a great day out. A lot to see here, there were several talks on the day we could've attended, alas my son wouldn't sit still for 3 minutes due to excitement so missed these. Maybe when he's older we can back and do it all! But will certainly be revisiting soon

We had a great day. We went on October 31st when it was raining but we had a good day despite this. We had pizza and chips and it was the best pizza we have ever had..so good. Lots to see, train was fun, plenty of seating areas. Overall a nice family day out

A lovely zoo with plenty of different animals that are well cared for. The bird flying display was fantastic. The zoo is clean, there is loads of parking, the staff are helpful and there is a great play area for the children too. I just wish they would put back jacket potatoes on their menu.

We loved it here, big and spaced zoo. Toilets and refreshments available around the area and playgrounds as well. The shows and meet and greet are outstanding and very relaxed as not very crowded. Great place!

We bought the lazy sloth session and it was great! We had enough time to see everything. The only thing is I believe the lazy sloth slot is a bit late and animals are hiding. I think morning sessions are also better to see the shows as there are not as many in the afternoon if you are bothered about it. I had a toddler with me so he didn't bother about shows. Other than that amazing afternoon!

Loved this visit! So many beautiful animals to see and shows going on. If you don't want to walk round you can take the land train. A lovely play park and activity pack that kept the youngest engaged. Such a great variation and the keepers have such a special bond with their animals. A wonderful day for us and the children. We will be going again!

A great little zoo to visit. Lots of different & interesting animals & some good animal talks too. We got great views of lots of the animals & only a few we couldn't spot. The Pallas's cats were one we'd never seen before. The staff were friendly & welcoming & we got a drink in the cafe later on which was nice. We spent the best part of a whole day here & really enjoyed it.

Visited here for my birthday with my friend last year and we both had a great time, plenty of animals to see and a lot to do. We unfortunately couldn't see the birds due to bird flu but we had an amazing time nonetheless and spent hours wandering and exploring the zoo.

Very nice place to take the kids. We went on a weekend and it was busy but still had enough room to enjoy ourselves and see a bunch of animals. Staff is very friendly and the food places are pretty good as well. This was our second time here and we will definitely be back!

Lovely zoo, well looked after grounds and animal enclosures. The only suggestion I would make would be more personal info on each animal, eg how many are in the enclosure/ages/names.

Banham zoo is out in the middle of nowhere, but is so worth the visit. We spent a solid 4 hours exploring the great range of animals there including sea lions, giraffes, kangaroos, wallabies, tigers and loads more. The whole place is very accessible and even has mobility scooters for hire there. The staff are really friendly and are happy to help, and there are plenty of toilets and refreshment spots located around the area. We went there not knowing what to expect, and left saying we want to go back.

A nice zoo, just in the middle of nowhere, but still worth the visit. Banham Zoo is a very good zoo, being a decent size, being great for kids and some amazing animals non offer to see. I always particularly love seeing the monkeys and the red panda, although he is more shy and sometimes is hard to see. The park is clean and tidy, there is plenty of bathrooms and restaurants on offer and the park’s employees are all very polite and helpful. Would recommend if you’re looking for a zoo to visit in Norfolk.

Took advantage of the £10 tickets and as my son is disabled, I used what I saved on his entry and my own to pay for an animal experience. We were not disappointed. The keeper was friendly and so kind to him he loved every minute. I didn’t catch her name but I’d like to send my thanks to her. The zoo was BUSY! but we’ll managed and fun as usual. We’re regular visitors here and to the Animal Encounters show and thanks to animals not always doing the expected, it never gets old! Harry did a great job of improvising when the “bird that doesn’t really fly…. Flew!” Great day and a great team at the zoo!

Is a lovely clean zoo, great selection of animals. We also did the sloth experience and would highly recommend to anyone that loves sloths like me, very informative and was great feeding Arlo such a beautiful boy

We visited on a day when the tickets were a special price and so the zoo was very busy. We still managed to see everything and spent about five hours there. Nice place. Good for families with younger and older children. Plenty of eateries but there was quite a lot of queuing at these. Having been to Banham before we brought a packed lunch as we knew the food outlets got so busy.

Banham Zoo is fantastic! We went on a Wild Nights day and we found it to be really worth while as some animals start to become more active towards dusk. All of the staff are warm and welcoming and it's clear that the keepers are knowledeable and passionate about their jobs. Highly recommend it to everyone.

Lovely, well-maintained smaller zoo. Large variety of animals and special options for animal experiences. Nice grounds for enjoying a picnic and scenery. Variety of options for drinks and snacks and ample onsite parking. Wonderful for a day out.

Got tickets before we went, they were on offer £10 per person on Monday and Tuesday's which is a good saving with 4 adults. The zoo was tidy. The big problem with Banham is there is VERY limited wi-fi signal. We queued up for lunch near the train stop and it was cash only. There was only a small note when you got to the till, luckily I did have cash. But i bet some people got caught out. Food was nice . The train ride was good but there was a long queue for it. If you have small children it would pay to keep sting cream in your bag as there was a great many wasps ( granddaughter got stung) i know you can't really stop them. We went to a show near to the giraffes which was very good. ( highly recommend). All i all it is a good day out , we saw most of the animals including the tiger cubs. The penguin enclosure which you can walk through is good for children as they can get close to them.

Banham zoo is lovely day out for couples and family’s. There is a good selection of animals ranging from birds to big cats including a snow leopard. You can go a train ride which takes you round the park free of charge. Plenty of toilets on site. Different restaurants dotted round aswell which is handy for drinks and snacks. Very reasonably priced overall. Would highly recommend.

Nice little zoo with well kept cages . Easy to navigate around with plenty of refreshments and toilets available. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters available to rent at reasonable prices (£10) Gift shop was quite expensive and I'd say average price for food and drinks . Cafe was nice and clean with above average food.

Lovely zoo, which is very well kept. The animals are kept in large enclosures with some monkeys actually able to leave the enclosure and climb trees close by. The only reason I am marking 4 stars is due to all but one of the cafes/restaurants being closed. This led to around a 20mins wait for 2 cups of coffee at the one restaurant open. The poor staff were under so much pressure with a lot of people understandably upset at massive wait times. My advice would be bring a packed lunch and a flask of coffee!

👍👍 Great place for walks. The grassland, water and woodlands are just right for a relaxing stroll - we also came across a group of Konik Ponies who were very at ease with us walking nearby and taking pictures. It was a great afternoon - highly recommended.

👍👍 Beautiful place for a walk! There is a small car park, which is not signposted so a little tricky to find.
