We love Bristol Zoo, our son had a great day. We went early on a week day so it was nice and quiet. The staff & keepers are really friendly and told us fun facts about the animals when we saw them. I'm sad it's closing later this year so would recommend a visit before this happens.

A lovely, medium sized zoo. Animals in good condition and seem contented. Lots of information dotted around for learning opportunities. Super helpful staff - all so cheerful and considerate! Food outlets are on the expensive side but you could just as easily take a picnic as there are outdoor and indoor seating areas. Seeing the eggs in the reptile house was a winner with my son after he had watched some YouTube videos about hatcheries. Daughter was completely engaged with the underwater sea lion viewing that had loads of space. Good disabled access throughout. Very wheelchair friendly. Staff were extremely understanding of my son's additional needs and catered for him really well. Good day out for old and young. We spent a total of 4 hours there. Arrive early because 11am onwards may be difficult for parking at peak times.

Highly recommended. My kids loved it. So much to watch. Restaurant facilities available onside. Few from many to watch as follows: Penguins, lion, gorillas, snakes, butterfly is must watch as it involves kids to spot rare blue morphos, flamingos, monkeys and .unhealthy much more. The only thing I was disappointed was parking charges which wasn't included in tickets fee and end up paying £5 for whole day.

A very Small but quirky zoo, if you're a zoo lover it's worth a visit. Really enjoyed the Tree Kangeroos and Bats. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the gift shop prices were reasonable for a zoo. You can see it's age in places but I feel it really adds to its charm.

Great selection of animals..very enjoyable experience. All the animals look happy and relaxed so I'm certain they're treated well. Great time to see the animals in their daily routine. I understand people's reservations on animals on captivity but a lot of the animals here are in danger of extinction so I'm glad to see their breeding program to help restore the population. Overall a wonderful experience

Had a brilliant time, much bigger than we expected, really well laid out design. Animals were brilliant to see, all looked in great condition with immaculate enclosures. Loads of info about each species too. Cafe was nice, but a little pricey. Apart from that, highly recommended x

Came here for my 4yo birthday and he loved it. Has lots to keep children entertained and a cool little water park which we spent a lot of time in. Wanted to see it before the zoo moved to North Bristol. A good day out 😊

Many animals absent or not in viewing areas when visiting, which I guess can’t be helped to a certain degree. No comms regarding enclosure timings / closures info regarding feeding times / talks on a sandwich board at entry only. Took over an hour to find a parking space after finding out when getting to the zoo the car park was full and the entrance barred. The limited on street parking around the zoo all has a 3 hr max stay which isn’t helpful. On trying to ring the zoo to find out if we are still allowed to attend outside of our half hour slot, nobody was answering the phones so wasn’t sure either way. Heading towards the not well advertised overflow car park which was managed by luck it wasn’t apparent if it was full or not but there appeared to be no entrance. That is to say save for an area where 2 individuals in hi-vis sat away from the road, one rolling a joint the other playing on their phone. Eventually finding a spot to park on street that wasn’t limited to a 3hr window, on walking past the zoo car park it became evident there wasn’t any active management of the car parks as despite still being closed there were numerous empty spaces available. The penguins were a highlight though these days there are few and trying to see them at feeding time is awkward due to the crowd. The best for me was the seal feeding and talk as despite the crowd I was able to see due to the animals being clearly much larger than penguins. The fruit bats able to walk around overhead was also an enjoyable experience. Witnessed and area of concern when I was exiting through the gift shop, where an employee was weaving a stack of boxes through the busy crowds above her head height balanced on a wheelchair of all things?! I doubt that was on the risk assessment.

For a small city zoo, the Seneca Park Zoo does a decent job. Friendly and knowledgeable staff helps make the experience worthwhile. You can tell that the organization is trying to add more exhibits to the menagerie of animals but does not get a lot of funding. They would benefit from those willing to go and support the zoo even though there are bigger and better zoos around. There is a temporary playground that is really neat. While preparing for the next exhibit, trees were cut and the ground was leveled. The trees were made into an awesome playground. Branches were chipped for the mulch. Could’ve spent hours just at the playground. My kids had a blast here enjoying the outdoors.

Love the Seneca Park Zoo! I always have a wonderful time and this is my second year of having the zoo membership. I am always grateful I can drive less then 30 minutes and see beautiful exotic animals. Yes, the zoo is smaller than others but, it very clean and animals are healthy/ well cared for. The zoo also has special events like the Zoo Brew for adult time and a bunch more the options. Definitely worth the time and money.

Absolutely loved coming here today, make sure to schedule a good 4 hours if you want to see every exhibit and not be rushing from one place to another. Staff are also very knowledgeable and friendly, I'll definitely be going to the wild place next.

The zoo itself was awesome, the exhibits were diverse and especially the aquarium and reptile house were really well scaped! Saw a lot of animals I haven't seen before and caught some great animal behaviours. Sad to see it closing but looking forward to my first visit to Wild Place later this year! Deducted one star for it taking 30 minutes to park, but that won't be a problem when they move out of the city 💜

Will be sad to see this place go. But happy that the animals will be moving to more open spaces like the the wild place project. We've grown up at Bristol zoo, as I'm sure many other people have. We took our kids yesterday, a Saturday during the summer holidays and week before closing and it was still easy to get around and even find food and drink with minimal queues. We had a great time.

Booked to go to Bristol Zoo during a weekday when the crowds would be quieter and thought we would be able to experience all of the exhibits. One thing the zoo has done well during lockdown is implementing a strict one way system and face mask policy in indoor enclosures to ensure guidelines are followed. However, at the expense of this, there was a significant impact on the amount of animals available to view at the zoo with many enclosures either closed or empty. In particular we were excited to see the pygmy hippo but the house was closed! We could even see her through the window so it begged the question why the enclosure was closed. This trend continued through the zoo and made the full entrance fee not worthwhile. Unfortunately I would not recommend coming back to this zoo until 2021 when lockdown restrictions have been lifted fully and the zoo can be enjoyed to its fullest.

We love Zoos and Bristol Zoo is an old favourite. The best part was by far the reptiles. It’s a small Zoo compared to Chester and others we have visited. It still has it’s charms. The grounds are kept tidy, and there is a lot of information and helpful staff. My children love big cats and were so pleased to see a Lion up close, but also sad as the enclosure didn’t look that big. I am sure it was more significant behind the promenade. The variety of animals that they care for is pretty good, and there is plenty to see. Still worth a visit if you are tagging it onto something else in Bristol. There was a food area, the food was very good, and the kids were happy, that is a miracle. The meerkats were extraordinarily entertaining, and it was pleasant to learn all about them there. A lovely day out.

Took my 2 yr old grandson yesterday, the first time for him. Car park was full but was lucky enough to find a space to park in the street around the corner. All the animals were so lovely and well cared for. The staff around the park, all very friendly and helpful. Didn't get to see any penguins, otters or gorilla. The aquarium section was excellent, the fish are huge, totally amazed us. Nice little play park for the children. A lovely day out. Gift shop very expensive tho.

Super fun day out! Great idea for an activity right in the middle of beautiful Clifton. The animals are well kept and look happy. Can make a day out of it with lush picnic grounds and some cafes, kiosks and restaurant onsite. Definitely a stress buster and a day to relax and own your wild side. Enjoy the day with your loved ones or simply get away by your self, from the maddening crowds by escaping to this nature gem. A must see.

Lovely day out with a nice selection of animals and birds. I was lucky to see a baby gorilla who made my day (was so cheeky and funny just like a human toddler); the lions were extremely close (in no other zoo or safari could be seen so close)

Lots to see and great for children, especially if not wanting/expecting to see large animals as don't have rhino's, elephants, giraffes, tigers etc. The lions and gorillas are the largest they have so manage small children's expectations! They have a fantastic reptile house, butterfly garden and lots more.

We havent been to the zoo in a long while. And yesterday was a nice 38 degree January day with no snow! So we decided on a whim to take the kids. Due to covid we did reserve and purchase our tickets online. The zoo is on a one way in and out path system and I loved that. We got to see everything (the red pandas were very active and super cute!) We weren't rushed at all and it was a great day. Oh and we finally got to see the giraffes! Cant wait to go back already.

Love this place. Great for a nice walk and the new additions are pretty sweet. There are a couple animal cages I wish were bigger but I feel like they are getting there. The temporary natural playground is absolutely the best in the area. We like to walk the zoo then the adults and kids get to play before leaving lol

A lovely little zoo. Good prices for entry and the little restaurant, which is take away only at the moment, is fairly well priced to. The animals are all in lovely condition as are all the enclosures. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are toilets dotted all around the area which is very handy. We had a wonderful time and is was a real pleasure to see the 2 week old baby gorilla up close. A lovely place to visit.

We went here for a little day out driving from South Wales. Easy to get to and the parking was made easy (it's £4 but you can use card) thanks to the wardens. It was a quiet day when we went so walking around was a breeze. All the animals seem well looked after and most enclosures had some keepers nearby explaining and talking about the creatures inside. The park itself is very nice and well kept, and the gardens and plants are really great. There's plenty of areas to walk about and play with children too. There is also a little restaurant that serves nice food. The pasta I had was good. Two of the standout enclosures were the penguins/seals and the butterflies. The seals were shooting about under and above the water, and you were able to go underground to see them like I've never seen them before. The butterfly enclosure was very pretty and they were flying around everywhere, allowing you to get extremely close to them. Overall a good day out and well worth it, especially if you book online cheap!

Great little Zoo, doesn’t have quite the array of animal you’d find at other Zoos but had enough to keep my wife and I as well as our 2 year old very happy for 4-5 hours. Imagine you could spend 5-7 if weather was nice and saw everything on offer. Food in the The Hide Restaurant was very nice, though was on the expensive side for the portion size. If you like big portions I would either be prepared to spend £20 per head (for an adult) or take a decent package lunch and use the saved money on the gift shop or on the various ice cream vendors around the place. Overall it was a great day out and would go again (though they’ll have moved by the time I’d be inclined to go again).

Nice zoo, shame it’s closing soon. A bit on the small size but still plenty to see - we were here for around 90 mins. Staff were friendly and knowledgable. We appreciated the discounted ticket prices due to sustainable travel - would recommend checking the zoo’s website for the code.

Amazing zoo! The exhibits were great and the animals were easy to see. There was a lot of things to do with kids. We spent about 4 hours here with our 3 kids and could have spent more time. We brought our buggy and it was easy to get around everywhere.

Great zoo, can see animals really close up unlike places like Chester Zoo where they are miles away. Lots of picnic areas but unfortunately no food places to buy food from except hot dogs or ice-cream.

Awesome zoo, loads to do. Would easily be a full day out for all the family. Very helpful friendly staff. Will defiantly be back when lockdown has eased some more, so the smaller sections will be back open. Zoo is much bigger than it looks on the outside. The enclosures for all of the animals are huge with lots of enrichment (especially for the monkeys). Beautiful gardens around the zoo too. The lego models around the zoo are awesome too!.

  • 5/5 Callum 3 years ago on Google
Good Zoo, the layout of the zoo works very well as it allows for a one way system all the way around the zoo from exhibit to exhibit. Was a shame that some of the areas had been shut off however given the current covid climate, you can appreciate why not all areas are suitable.

  • 5/5 John B. 3 years ago on Google
Always enjoy the penguins, makes for a nice day out. Went with my little brother a year ago he liked the monkeys but was more interested in the cars in the car park which is just typical. Good memories from when I was a kid I always loved the place.

Lovely place to visit at Bristol Zoo clifton. Great to visit the animals. We had to book online for tickets due to social distancing reasons. But with a lot of effort put in place at the zoo we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Sanitizers dotted all over the place, and toilets were open by the hide cafe. Loved it and thoroughly recommend it.?

A well planned out social distancing experience, with the animals looking as well as they could be at this time, and particularly in the bad weather. The grand children loved it.

  • 4/5 Lee J. 3 years ago on Google
Gorillas and other primates were amazing and had plenty of space. Lions looked a little cramped and because of some closed areas we managed the whole zoo at a gentle pace in lees than two hours (and we did the one way system twice).

Entrance fee is not worth it. We went specifically to see red pandas and there were not there. Website said that they have red pandas, but when we went to their habitat, there was a sign "coming soon" which is a bit deceptive. We then though it is not a big deal and we still have whole zoo to see, but apparently 40% was closed due to the pandemic (not sure why exactly). I then thought they must have said it in the front page, but no, you really have to spend some time researching their website to see the update about some bits to be closed. I find this deceptive too. I understand that you need funding to stay afloat economically and you need money to feed the animals, but deception is not the best way.

Disappointing, it does not make clear on the home page of the website whilst booking the tickets that a considerable amount of the zoo's attraction are shut, Reptile House, Hippo House, Bats, Twilight Zone, Bug World to name but a few. This should be made much clearer at the time of booking.

Not worth going at the moment as very little to see...apart from Lego animals. The food was diabolical and purchased at over inflated cost

Worst Zoo I've ever been to. Starts off with the Lion enclosure housing two lions in an enclosure slightly bigger than an average garden. Red Panda advertised on website and various posters, turns out is not yet arrived at the zoo and expected 'soon'. Hippo enclosure closed, not advertised on website. Average condition of enclosures at best, requires much upgrading.

Inner city zoo, well maintained the only reason i didnt give it 5 stars was due to how many habitats were closed off, this should be specified on booking. Due to COVID you have to walk around a specific way aswell which felt quite controlling although this would just be them following guidelines

  • 4/5 Tom W. 3 years ago on Google
Great that the zoo is open again to see the unique animals. The reptile house, bug house, twilight zone and butterfly house are all still closed at present because of social distancing issues and because of the humid temperatures that they have to be kept at. The disappointing thing is that their indoor cafe is completely shut which I could not quite understand as all other indoor cafes, restaurants and bars are open in the city so as it was a rainy day there was no where to eat food under cover - something to bear in mind.

  • 5/5 Zalina S. 3 years ago on Google
Well maintained, clean and pleasant place for a family day out. Due to the situation with the virus the playground and children's center were closed ( some parts of the zoo are also closed), however there is still a lot to see. Note that you have to pay £4.50 for the parking ( we didn't know), so consider that when planning.

  • 5/5 Jane T. 3 years ago on Google
Good social distancing in place. Pre booking ensures that it's not too busy. Would recommended bringing your own food as catering services are limited. Coffees etc. was fine. Some areas are still closed off such as the butterfly house. We spent about 3 hours there which was plenty to see everything that was open. Most people were keeping their distance and wearing masks for the enclosures where it was required. Lots of parking outside and at £4.50 for the day is better value than the park and ride! Good few hours out.

Really good zoo, I like the one way system that is currently in place due to covid. Staff are also very friendly. However the zoo lacks some major animal attractions like Elephants, Girrafes, Zebras etc. The food in the Restaurant is extremely overpriced, I paid £10.50 for sausages and mash and nearly £3.00 for a cold drink. Apart from those two things, its a very good day out and is very easy to get to the zoo by the number 8 bus from Bristol Temple Meads Train Station

  • 5/5 Ian B. 3 years ago on Google

Took 4 boys there today (7-8yrs), everyone from the car park attendant to the staff around the zoo were polite, friendly and helpful. One way system actually improves things imo as you don't have to decide what to see first. That male lion has a roar that makes the entry fee worth it alone.

The animals were active and seemed comfortable and all possible Covid guidelines were followed. It was a safe, fun and interactive "safari". Great for kids especially!

I was at this zoo yesterday and I was really impressed. They had a lot of animals for a small city zoo. The layout was really good and easy to navigate. We were able to talk to the zookeepers about some of the different animals and they were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There is a really large play area for kids when you walk in and then a few other things for them to play on throughout. You get to actually get really close to all the animals which I’ve never experienced before. And they have a little building where you can order food and drinks I think it was called the Eagles Landing. It was great and I had an amazing time there! Will definitely be back.

A simple and cool attraction that can be visited and several species of animals can be seen. The layout allow you to get close to the animals and almost touch them. Seneca Zoo is an awesome place to visit and spend time. Will return.

Lots of amazing animals and many of them seemed more content and playful than other zoos I have visited. All of the new play areas and kid friendly areas are awesome! So many improvements since I was a child. They have a good system in place to reduce the spread of covid and was easy to navigate the zoo.

A wonderful and affordable zoo experience for people of all ages. A suitable variety of animals and we'll designed exhibits. Don't go hear expecting a massive high tech zoo, it more quaint and in my opinion all the better for it.

Small zoo inside a park but there is a lot to see, even in winter. Free parking, adults are $10 and kids are free the month of February. Most indoor buildings are open to go inside and warm up in. The red pandas, wolves, and otters are especially active in the winter. Masks are required at all times but it wasn't very busy when we went on a Sunday so I was not worried about COVID

This place is one of the best zoo's I've been to and the new exhibit with the ostrich giraffe and zebra added it's so much better they are even installing a trolley car from the start of the park to the end. I was also the one to suggest the addition of the giraffe zebra and ostrich I told my aunt who is good friends with one of the zoo's directors it took a while but it got added and I'm seeing people that really enjoy it!!!

I felt very safe, with everyone wearing masks, hand sanitizer stations all around, arrows on the ground, and reservations. I feel so lucky to live near such a nice zoo! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because all the bathrooms were not open.

We went in winters and still it is an amazing place to visit. For few sections they have heaters. The animals are healthy and well maintained. It also has domestic in addition to the wild animals.

Seneca Park Zoo is a Rochester gem the zoo would be the first place I would take anyone from out of town. The Animals always look happy and well taken care of and the exhibits are nicely sized for the Animals. It's very easy to access the zoo from any point in the Rochester area it's right off the 104 expressway if you drive or the number 35 RTS bus route stops right at the entrance to the zoo if you take public transit. My favorite area Is the new animals of the savanna exhibit a must see exhibit if you go the Seneca Park zoo. When in upstate New York I would also reccmond the Buffalo Zoo as well

Really good compact zoo to visit. Great range of smaller animals. Was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the new baby gorilla being hand-reared. Staff are really helpful and wheelchair access is good. A range of things to see outdoors and in so a good option for a showery day.

Despite the weather and the important need for social distancing. We had a very enjoyable time at the zoo, a couple of sections were closed off but still plenty to see. The food in the Hide (?) restaurant was good, although my pasta was somewhat cool. Overall definitely worth a visit.

It was good but felt the social distance rules could be more enforced the toilets were well supervised and delt with well. People moaned about them, but it's there for a reason peps. We had a great day out, even with the heavy rain. Something we did not know about (didn't really read up on it) parking is 4.50 for the day.

(Translated by Google) We spent a day at the bristol zoo for our last visit to England. The zoo is not very big so it's easy to walk around with young children and come back to see things again. I thought most of the enclosures looked pretty good, large animals will never look "natural" ... we were surprised at the variety the zoo has to offer. Lions, gorillas, monkeys, birds are normal zoo offerings, but there was also an insect section, nocturnal animals and more. The nocturnal animals exhibition was particularly exciting, they trained animals to think night was day (Original) İngiltere'ye yaptığımız son ziyaret için bristol hayvanat bahçesi bahçelerinde bir gün geçirdik. • 5/5 Tim P. 3 years ago on Google
Much better than expected. I was a bit wary because some reviews here had complained about a lot being closed because of the Coronavirus, and that there were no big animals. But the only thing we found closed was the Butterfly House, and even though the only big animals were a couple of lions and a family of Gorillas, there were so many of those animals that make you go "ooh it's a ..." that it was a real highlight of the trip. Red pandas, piranhas, puffer fish, archer fish, ring-tailed lemurs, gibbons, armadillos, assassin bugs, leaf ants, tarantulas. There was of course nesting penguins and sealions at feeding time, along with a family of meerkats.

Great day out, most the animals were active and visible and they all looked to be in good health. The staff were friendly and had made a good effort to make to zoo covid safe. Only let down was the awful food ordering system in the restaurant, took as long to order as it did to eat.

  • 5/5 Vince C. 3 years ago on Google
An interesting zoo with a wide range of animals. Great for children. My only concern was some social distancing issues but that wasn't the fault of the zoo.

I had an enjoyable visit here. I felt the zoo was quite small however. Plenty to see, and worth the money. I particularly enjoyed the penguin area. The cafe was overpriced but that's what you expect anyway. Can't comment on parking as i got a bus from temple meads which seems to run a very infrequent service. I'd say you can view everything in an hour. Wouldnt go here again though just because there wasn't that much really. The sloths at the end were awesome and easily visible unlike some other zoos.

Truth is if you are not a young child or you have an IQ above 50 Bristol Zoo is a bit of a bore. The gift shop is scarcely furnished and ridiculously expensive. The elephants are the only praise I have for this zoo otherwise so unless you are desperate to see a caged elephant I would avoid this zoo entirely.

  • 5/5 Alan M. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing, very impressed. I wasn’t expecting much as it’s not on the same scale as London Zoo but I was blown away by the gorillas and lions, absolutely awesome. Well worth a day of your time. Plenty of space for picnics, plenty of vending machines for snacks and ice creams !!

It's amazing to go to Bristol Zoo with the whole family, advise everyone to go and see before they close next year, the hippos have gone already, the talks were great lots of great information, and don't forget to get your gifts as a keep sake as once it's gone it's gone. It's a shame that it's closing I have always loved coming here. Sad to see it go. 😔

5 stars are for the beautiful gardens rather than the sadly depleted zoo.We had booked timed tickets for midday as a chance to meet family for the first time since 2019.We were a little perturbed to see a huge queue of folk going in at the same time as us who were buying tickets on the day-it seems timed tickets are no longer required. The indoor exhibits were open and were crowded to start with, though quieter later.Quite a few cages were empty, the animals having already been moved on.We had a great day catching up with each other, and our grandchildren loved it. It's still a pleasant venue, and our family is going to miss it.

Visiting the zoo for nostalgia so glad to see zoo has moved forward on animal care now they come first, dreaded covid loss of other restaurant but given zoo a empty safe feeling environment ,still a very enjoyable visit. I will now have nice memories of incredible underwater walks etc seeing sea lions and penguins swimming from below, helping wipe away how animals were treated in the 50s 60s wishing the zoo success in its future.

  • 5/5 Paul C. 2 years ago on Google
We visit a lot of zoo's and this one is up there for variety, area vs attractions and general value for money. Some of the areas are so dark ( I.e nocturnal animals) that you couldn't really see what was going on. Its not what I'd call wheelchair friendly in all places but for the most there's ramps provided. All animal enclosures were a very good size with plenty of activities inside of each enclosure to keep them from getting bored. All in all a great day out.

  • 5/5 Sarah-Jayne F. 2 years ago on Google
Great day out, once I got passed the lions which looked a little sad but then they are moving to a bigger space so that's good. Lots to see and do, great little restaurant, plenty of hand sanitised, clean today and well thought out especially with current restrictions.

  • 3/5 Matthew P. 2 years ago on Google
First the negative, I'm not a fan of large animals in small spaces... You can see they aren't happy and it upsets me and my family seeing this .. That aside, there is a fairly large collection of animals and insects to see here, you can spend a good 4 hours here and not rush seeing things. Great for the kids ...I hope the move to new premises is an added bonus.

Great visit to Bristol Zoo. We took a taxi from the centre of Bristol 'V' cars costing about £8 at 11am on a Friday morning and took the direct bus back from the zoo to Temple meads station when we left. The pre booking on line in advance was very quick and simple. Remembering the zoo is the age it is it still is an amazing place to visit and does amazing work. I would highly recommend a visit. We stopped in the cafe for tea and cake and although I thought the prices were on the high side this was to be expected. The whole visit was very enjoyable.

Spent a lovely drizzly day here in January. Lots of indoor rooms so you can still see animals undercover. The Reptile House was great. You need to spend a while looking for the tiny creatures but a thrill when you spy one. Elsewhere, there is a newish area called Gorilla Island . In Winter, you will see them relaxing indoors. Viewing was easy, but again , a weekday is best to avoid the crowds. There is a large eatery on site about half way to stop off for loo trip and refreshments.

We had a fabulous day out, well most of it, the food in the restaurant was absolutely disgusting, overcooked burnt and cold, to the point we had to complain and got most of our money back but I wasn't going to let it spoil my birthday day out with all my family including my first grandchild, he just wanted to crawl about on the grass Bless. It's sad they have to close but I do understand, it was looking a little tired, it's grown out of its shell and time to more on to bigger adventures. I'm still going to give it 5 stars because it Was a lovely day despite the issues, it was a lovely nostalgic day 🥰 the staff were lovely too

Can't wait for the Zoo to move to a larger location (at Wildplace Project). It's an amazing zoo, theres lots to see and the animals seem happy & well looked after. It can be expensive for larger families, but the annual membership is a good investment if you are planning to go 5 or more times in a year.
