What must amazed me was being walking on the top of the roof, which is not common. The Duomo is big, the architecture of the outside is very impressive and beautiful. The church inside, based on the other churches I have seen before, this one didn’t impressive. As any other European church, of course is beautiful and it’s big, I have seen better ones. But, I think you should go because every perspective is always different and it’s worth it. I took the lift (elevator) to go to the top. This entrance is on the right side of the back of the church. Opposite side where you can buy the tickets. IMPORTANT: for women you tummy needs to be cover and your shoulders. I had a tide dress and it wasn’t a problem. My husband had shorts and a t-shirt and he was fine go inside. The elevator doesn’t go down, it’s only to go up. We took the stairs to come down.

Enjoyed a quick visit to this iconic attraction. Really loved the ability to venture in the rooftop which was surprising and awesome (despite the ongoing restoration work). Views from the top are fantastic. The inside is grand too. Staff were helpful and polite. Although it could benefit from better signage. Access inside to some areas restricted 😏

The terrace walk moved quickly and was an efficient ascent - which surprised me. The volume of sculpture and detail is breathtaking. As was my vertigo! Ha. It’s certainly an excellent experience and the ability to walk along the roof was unexpected. You get a sneak peek inside the cathedral at the end with just the terrace ticket but if you want to see more you need to get that add-on.

Wow... The cathedral in Milan makes an amazing impression on me. It looks majestic from the outside. It's a really big piece of history. To go inside and to the roofs of the cathedral, from which is a beautiful view of the city, I recommend to buy a ticket in advance online for about €17, and coming early in the morning because there are not crowds of tourists yet.

Visiting Milan Duomo with my family, including two kids, was an overall okay experience, but a few aspects left us with mixed feelings. The cathedral itself is a breathtaking masterpiece, with its intricate architecture and stunning design. Our kids were fascinated by the grandeur of the exterior and the history behind this iconic landmark. However, our enthusiasm was somewhat dampened by the extensive security measures at the entrance. While safety is undoubtedly important, the level of scrutiny felt exaggerated, making the entry process a bit tedious, especially with children in tow. One major downside during our visit was the ongoing renovation work. It impacted the overall ambiance and obstructed some of the views, diminishing the full splendor of this historical site. Additionally, the cost of going up in the tower with the elevator was a bit steep (17 EUR / person if I remember correctly). We opted to skip the tower ascent due to the high cost, which was disappointing considering it's one of the main attractions. On a positive note, the interior of the cathedral was awe-inspiring, and exploring the surrounding square was a delightful experience. The vibrant atmosphere and surrounding shops and cafes added to the charm of the visit. In conclusion, Milan Duomo is undoubtedly a must-visit, but potential visitors should be aware of the renovation work and be prepared for the associated challenges. The security measures could be more streamlined, and the pricing for additional experiences like the tower ascent may need reconsideration, particularly for families with children.

Inside and out, beautiful! Well worth the visit! Blessed that we had a sunny day when we went up to the rooftop! Undergoing some work so quite a bit of scaffolding and builders making some noise but otherwise a great experience - even in early January!

Fabulous experience to visit the Duomo in Milan. We took the Skip the like tickets for the full tour (Rooftops, Cathedral and Museum), although that was a mistake. While we were able to go to the rooftops, the cathedral closed in the afternoon and opened at 5PM in the evening. This was a major inconvenience as we had not planned for the same and we ended up missing the cathedral visit completely. Considering we paid 55 Euros for 2 persons as part of the Rooftop and Cathedral visit, this proved to be a relatively expensive mistake. Nevertheless the rooftop visit was awesome. Some advice - the rooftop visit is pretty long and more so on a weekend. You have to wait in the line while it moves along the rooftop. Also the lift only takes you to a particular floor, after which you still have to climb a few more flights of stairs and I didn't see accessibility ramps for those stairs. And the trip back to the ground floor is by the stairs for most people. The views are magnificent from the top and the architecture is just stunning. Must visit for sure and I intend to go back to see the Cathedral again.

Arguably the most popular church and tourist attraction in this part of Italy. The Duomo di Milano stands proud in the middle of a busy Piazza crowded with tourists from all over the world. Tickets are available depending on what you want to see. Climbing up the roof of the cathedral is definitely worth it since it offers the most spectacular view of the city and the surrounding Alps. Try visiting early in the morning to avoid the crowd and get better pictures.

Huge cathedral with intricate designs all around. Magnificent. It looks majestic from every corner and you can see the effort which has gone into building the cathedral. We went there almost everyday we were in Milan. Book the ticket in advance including terrace if you’d like.

This was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I came on a rainy day in December. Tickets were online and cost 16 regular 8 reduced. While this is a little steep, you can really spend 1-2 hours here. It is a lot of stairs but can be done in only a few minutes, and if you’re able-bodied it shouldn’t be an issue. Once at the viewing platform, the views are CRAZY! Super beautiful on every side and it is so cool to be walking along the outside of the roof of the church. Surreal. Another set of stairs takes you to the actual roof where the views are even better. Incredibly beautiful and historical architecture. Coming down the stairs you enter the Cathedral itself which is adorned with sculptures, painting, and more beautiful architecture. We came on a Sunday so we were able to observe a mass as well. This was an absolutely wonderful experience. It’s famous for a reason, don’t miss it!

Extremely beautiful, spectacular and impressive cathedral! I was truly amazed to see it from the inside. It totally worth visiting! You can purchase tickets from the building across the street on the right side. There is normal tickets or with climbing up the towers included. The waiting line wasn't that long but probably it depends on the month. I was there in February and got inside really quickly.

The most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen. To go on the top by foot needs just 150 steps and then another 100 to go to the terrace. The view is magnificent. All these details, big and small figures in marble, are impressed. The cathedral inside is also quite interesting. But don't forget to be dressed something not too short and with yhe sleeves. It's a catholic church and they are very precious. Better to book a ticket on the web side with a selection of time slot.

Beautiful cathedral with lovely glass windows. Be sure to visit the area down below. Remember, it is still a "practicing" cathedral so they hold mass, etc. Look for the "dinosaur" located near the front door entrance. A unique and mysterious carving near the front doors. If you plan to go up to the terrace, recommend getting the elevator and buy tickets in advance.

We thought we'd seen it all, but the further north we went it just got more jaw dropping. This cathedral is from the Roman Gothic architecture times for anyone that knows what that means. This cathedral's architecture is breathtaking. Left is speechless. Just shows how these genius architects thought hundreds of years ago. The Renaissance era that followed is just as good, but Gothic omg. A must see if in Milan.

Definitely a must see. Get the rooftop ticket access and book the earlier ones. I bought the full access and it was well worth it for me. I read that going to the rooftop by foot might be faster than waiting in line for the lift access. As of Sept 2023, part of the roof was closed off due to cleaning/restoration. But the views and experience was nonetheless amazing.

An historic and dramatic Gothic legend! We bought tickets to the rooftop and went up by stairs as recommended. The stairs wasn't very difficult to climb and the view through the narrow windows were beautiful. From the you can see the beautiful skyline as well as countless Gothic sculptures all around. On the way out you can go inside the cathedral and see amazing windows and the sculptures. Highly recommended to book before.

It's not easy to say something meaningful after 141k+ wonderful reviews. Yes, of course I agree: one of the World's most beautiful Cathedral. Photos, videos, reviews, etc. wouldn't give justice. DO NOT miss it. And allow at least 3 hours (a full day wouldn't be unreasonable) and buy all the tickets and visit the top (climbing stairs is actually fun if that's your idea of fun but elevators are available). Quick advice: make sure you buy authentic tickets, do not buy anything outside the official ticket booth. Is it cheap? OK you guessed it right: NO. Is it worth it? Hell YES. Have fun.

Very scenic and picturesque everywhere. I went there three times and the best views were early in the morning when it was just me and someone else. Pictures look so much better early in the morning when no one is around. As a group, we did a tour. Great views from the rooftop and while inside.

It is indeed a very beautiful architecture. After corona, if anyone can travel this is a perfect time. Not so many people and you can have the whole cathedral and the terrace of the cathedral for yourself. Well I would recommend everyone who is in Milan to visit the dome. Worth visiting a place which is not far from Milan Central station. Nearby you will find a lot of shopping places and many restaurants.

Such an amazing place. I have not actually been in side the cathedral itself, but it looks absolutely fantastic from the outside. The architecture of it is so sophisticated and the level of detail in it is design is mind blowing. There is a gold statue on the top. I heard Italian Mafias tried to rob this gold statue by attaching it to a helicopter, but the police managed to retrieve it.

Imagine standing on the top of a gorgeous building, sunset, city buzz underneath.... The inside is gorgeous too and you can join the mass if you want to. Tickets are sold in another building (or get them online), pay attention to entrances - if you want to get to the roof, for stairs and for lift entrances are in different areas. To just go inside the Duomo, there is another entrance. We took a lift up (it's about 5 floors) and everyone descended via stairs. You have to be pretty mobile, there are areas you have to climb stairs and the way down is a continuous spiral staircase. You will descend into the church area inside and will be able to explore everything. You can bring your backpack but be ready for it to be searched. No restriction on water bottles. Can take pictures.

Wonderful place to visit, very live and busy. Great art work. Huge lineups though to go inside the cathedral. Area around cathedral is also very nice. Really enjoyed tons of pigeons in front of the cathedral. Lots of shopping stores, big brands. Restaurants there are very good. Loved there food. Outdoor patios are awesome. Very good environment, very positive. Art work is great for indoor shopping malls. Very different. Lots of walking to explore near by areas so wear comfortable footwear and you are good to go.

The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete: construction began in 1386, and the final details were completed in 1965. It is the largest church in Italy—the larger St. Peter's Basilica is in the State of Vatican City, a sovereign nation—and the second largest in Europe and the fourth largest in the world.

It’s a must visit in Milano! The architecture is just fabulous. Every inch of Duomo is taken care by the architect. Extremely well built. I went in the evening at 5, had some beautiful views of sunset. Check out my pics. Cathedral view is last, I think when cathedral is seen in day, the light from colores windows would make more beautiful. Over all a extraordinary.

Duomo is one of my favourite places in the world! No matter how many times I visit Duomo, no matter the season, or time of the day, can’t help but feel happy, safe and calm when I stare at the beautiful 600+ year old masterpiece! The cathedral is a work of art that one has to stop and admire! The door itself is a masterpiece in its own! Thanks to the 300+ artists who have come together to create Duomo!

It’s a must! Absolutely gorgeous both in and out. I recommend getting the elevator lift so once you’re up there your not too tired to take pics and enjoy the great views. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket office. If you have a specific time I recommend booking online in advance but if you have no prior engagement throughout the day you can purchase them at the office.

Your visit to Milano cannot be considered complete without a visit to this very special very magnificent building + Beautiful Sculpted statues all over the building, both inside and outside. They tower over the city watching us + Mass celebration was taking place when we visited. The music, the singing of the choir and the smell of incense made it a very special experience. + Exquisite, stunning stain glass windows especially the front face of the building. + The rooftop provides great views of Milan, that Plaza as well as the higher edges of the building. + Lots of cafes, restaurants and shopping around. + Visit the museum to get a closer look at some of the sculptures. There is a huge number of exhibits. Book online to beat the lines. Elevator costs 5 euro more but has longer lines and wait times. On the other hand stairs are narrow in width and some may find it claustrophobic which is exacerbated by the breathlessness of climbing. Stairs are reasonably well ventilated with small vents at regular intervals. Stairs ceiling is comfortably high enough even for tall people. - They made us thrash our unopened coke can.

By far my favorite part of Milan! I could honestly stare at this all day and never get tired of all the fine details. It's absolutely incredible, the time and dedication it took to make this. To see it in person is truly breathtaking. We bought tickets online before hand so we chose a time and only waited with the others that had our time stamp tickets which took maybe 5 minutes to get inside. We also got tickets to go up top to the roof. We chose the stairs, and were informed that those tickets are actually separate and don't need a time to go up. You can use them any time of day until 6pm, the last group that can go up. And they're valid for 3 days. So you can see the inside at your designated time and then any time go up within the 3 days. Also many online sources say that men are required to wear pants, but during very hot summer months shorts are allowed. Now I can cross it off my bucket list, but am also now determined to see it as many more times as I can!

Surreal. My holiday HQ was Rome but I did a one day turnaround to Milan and it was simply gorgeous. Fashion, style, refinement and grace are above those found in the capital city. On top of it all (no pun intended) sit the terraces of the Duomo Di Milano. Stunning. I'm difficult to impress but I could almost be hard pressed to say that the sight of the Duomo Terraces might be the most majestic/epic thing I laid eyes upon - second to my girlfriend, obviously!

Nice place with wonderful construction. This old cathedral was constructed huge with great precision and quality. Huge doors carry structures of Catholics which are polished in sea green but in actual are made up of brass. Walking on the Cathedral rooftop is exhilarating, and lets you see many things from a different perspective.. Place is worth visiting and is at walking distance from Castel, city centre. Visiting here twice, during day and after sunset is recommended. Walking the nearby streets for shopping is also recommended.. Please stay away from the Negros which are available everywhere. They will try to tie a thread on your wrist, stating it as friendship band. Afterwards they will start demanding money. Be careful!!!👍

The views from the roof are breathtaking, especially if you manage to go up as the sun is setting. The Duomo itself is stunning and worth the visit. The archaeological dig below is interesting but be aware that the English translation on the information boards is a short summary of the full text. No other languages aside from Italian are supported. You can use Google Lens to help translate as a back up but the suggestions aren't foolproof.

Amazing cathedral and roof worth a visit but underground not worth. You will find many day time pictures I thought of to share how it looks at night time. Still many people even at late night.

A very impressive place. The interior of Duomo is ginormous and makes a great impression. The light going through the colorful widows and the art work are amazing. I strongly recommend to go to the top and see all the details of the construction. There are multiple beautiful sculptures wherever you turn around and you have a great view of the city. This is definitely one of the most beautiful cathedrals you will ever visit and one of my personal favourites. It’s definitely worth checking out and getting the ticket for the roof. I would highly suggest you pay for the entire package, it’s most certainly worth the time and money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you visit Milan and don’t see this cathedral I seriously feel bad for you and I consider it not seeing Milan at all. Lots to do in and around this area. Make the trip to the Duomo, I promise you, you won’t regret it.

It’s very beautiful and authentic. The fact that it was built in around 600 years makes it even more interesting😂 I recommend you to buy a ticket and go to the terrace to enjoy the view from above. It’s magnificent. I also recommend coming in the morning right after the opening hours. You can buy a €1 cheaper ticket in the ticket office and at 9:30 there is no queue at all. The ticket to the dome, museum and terrace costs €15 in the ticket office and €16 online. You can choose which variant you prefer

Nice place to visit, the rooftops were just amazing but very crowded. I enjoyed the sunset during my visit and it was very worth it. There actually is not a place from where you can look directly to the square, only a little spot but with plexiglass so you see nothing. It’s possible to look on your way up, but the guards won’t let you stop for that view to not create queue.

We’ve been visiting Milano in late December after Xmas: the best time to see the place without crowds. The entrance ticket costs ~20€ and worth every cent and can be purchased online or in the ticket office nearby. I’d also suggest taking the stairs (not the lift) to the top as it will give you extra experience and more nice shots. P.S. take some bread with you to take a few nice pictures with the pigeons at the plaza in front of Duomo

It's a symbol of Milan and one of the largest cathedrals in Italy and Europe. Shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. Breathtaking stained glass representation. The Duomo is an absolute marvel to see in person and a beautiful, beautiful piece of architecture and history. Duomo Pass lift costs €20, if you take stairs it's €15, culture and cathedral passes costs €10 & €5 respectively.

If you only have time to see one sight in Milan, the Duomo should be it. Milan's Duomo is considered the largest and most unique Gothic complex in all of Italy, having taken about a half a millennium to build. And once you've spent some time at the Duomo, it's easy to see why it's considered a masterpiece. The Duomo displays an inordinate amount of impressive architectural details both in and outside of its walls. The exterior is dotted with thousands of intricately-carved statues (2,300 to be exact) depicting both religious figures and stories from the Bible, including Jesus' crucifixion. And its interiors are even more intricate. Inside you'll find a thousand more statues, sky-high marble columns, gilded ceilings, striking stained glass windows and loads of paintings scattered throughout. The detail even goes all the way down to the floors, where you'll find geometric-patterned marble lined throughout, and so much more. Go and see it if you can.

Great and beautiful place, if you have the opportunity to go to the roof definitely use it! It is euros for the stairs option and 15 for the lift option, best to buy online. The stairs option is definitely manageable with basic fitness, takes no more than 5 minutes to get upstairs. It can he quite crowded however and you might have to wait in the queue despite buying the tickets online! Be careful about the luggage you take up there as they control very vigorously and we had to leave our bags elsewhere.

So amazing you can enjoy the beautiful view and the beautiful architecture of Duomo di Milano! and another part is the museum! All original pieces are exhibited there and all look absolutely beautiful so amazing. The church is very beautiful especially at the front and at the side. If you want a perfect picture, I recommend going early because there are a lot of tourists. For the entrance to the main church and going up the church/terraces, buy it in advance online so you don't need to buy physically and I think sometimes tickets get sold out.

Very nice view and definitely worth the money. It is the main attraction in Milan and by buying a ticket to enter you also get free access to the museum. Try to arrive early, because they have different time slots with a limited amount of people allowed to enter at the same time. Also don’t forget to cover you shoulders and knees, because it is still a religious church. Otherwise you will have to buy the disposable cover-ups there that are available at the ticket office.

Buy tickets in advance if you want to go up the elevator to the terrace and rooftops. The main attraction is the rooftops because you can see all of Milan from the top. The marble spires are phenomenal. Go early because of the heat. The lines can be very long and you will need to be sure you bring a cover up for your legs and arms if you are a woman or you will have to wait in another long line to buy a paper tissue baggie that covers your knees and shoulders. The weather was very hot and then to put the paper cover up on top is the correct way but better to book tickets early in day because of the heat. The archaeological section is in Italian with not very much translation but it is very good if you like ancient architecture. The cathedral itself is massive. You can easily spend an hour view the many fantastic pieces of art, alters and stain glass windows. Mass in Italian was beautiful and because it’s so large it’s broadcast on TV monitors. But again be aware that there is no air conditioning so go to Mass early in the day if it’s a Sunday.

We bought the Duomo, Terrace, and Museum tickets. So worth every penny! A fantastic 3 hours steeped in culture, history, and art. Absolutely stunning, leaving us awestruck. Some signage with the story and background inside the duomo and museum would have really been the cherry on top. Hopefully they look to add this in with future improvements.

Wednesdays are a holiday some facilities may be closed. In October 2023 there were renovations going on. But overall a magnificent monument. Tickets can be bought online also but there is a transaction charge , it's easy to just buy at the counter in an adjoining building. Opening slots are across the day and it's worth checking in the timings before arriving to get the maximum out of the trip. Doumo is the cathedral building and terraces are the access to it's rooftop which is definitely worthwhile a good view to the plaza below and seeing the structure close up. Stairs are steep but if you don't have any major health issues it can be climbed , alternatively lifts are available.

This is a beautiful cathedral with stunning architecture and is a must-see landmark in Milan. I got the culture pass, which included access to the Duomo, the Museum, and the Archaeological Area. The duomo is so spacious and there are plenty of things to see inside. The Museum was very interesting and there were a lot of neat statues and objects on display. The archaeological area was okay for me and something I could have skipped. We visited all of these spaces in about 1.5 hours. I wish I had gone up to see the terraces as I’m sure the view would have been amazing. Definitely would recommend coming here if you’re in Milan!

Incredible architecture. Bought tickets at the door for the terrace and the wait time was very reasonable. Definitely recommend going up to see it. We chose the stairs ticket but you can get a ticket for the lift as well. We also bought the cover-ups but saw many people did just go in wearing tank tops etc.

Beautifully beyond definition. A massive architectural masterpiece with each part carefully sculptured to perfection. Some facts about Duomo di Milano The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete: construction began in 1386, and the final details were completed in 1965. It is the largest church in Italy—the larger St Peter's Basilica is in the State of Vatican city, a sovereign nation and the second largest in Europe and the Fourth largest in the world. Based of its beauty it has also become a tourist attraction for tourist coming into Italy from around the world to witness the masterpiece.

The main reason to stop over for a day in Milan. Incredible architecture & detail that makes it obvious why it took 600 years to build! There’s a lot of scaffolding around the top, which I imagine will be permanent & moved to different places as it must be a continuous job to clean the marble

If you take the elevator to the roof, there are still over 100 steps to climb to the top. Along the way you will be awed by the architecture. Once you are up, do NOT follow the Uscita or Exit sign or you will have to go over 500 steps down. Also the CDC vaccination card will have to be shown and is accepted.

In love with the Duomo and its architecture. Huge Gothic style cathedral with so many statues. The facade of the Duomo is huge and you could spend hours in its admiration if you start noticing every details of it. To enter inside the Cathedral one needs a ticket and Green pass (due to covid restrictions). The ticket could be purchased online or in the booking office. There are various options to combo tickets depending upon your wish to visit just the cathedral or climb up the dome or visit the museums as well.

The Duomo in Milan is a magnificent piece of architecture. Unfortunately, it was being restored when we visited, which was a bit of a shame. The Duomo is beautiful on the inside as well as on the inside. The ticket office is to the right of the Duomo. The guy working there was very helpful and spoke both French, Portuguese, Italian, English, and German. Very helpful and very friendly.

Such a beautiful church, and such an impressive, aesthetically pleasing sight. There's a Christmas tree during the festive times, a lot of people dislike it saying it obstructs the view however it's not that bad at all. The location of the Duomo is great, right next to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, also a great sight. We went to Piazza del Duomo on Sunday at peak hour, (12 am). If you're as dumb as I was you'll know the sheer amount of people there at that exact time, preferably, do not go at this hour. Even with all these people, I would still say this church and experience was one of my favorites. It's the most beautiful church aesthetically, in my opinion. Visit it if you are nearby!

The dome is an unmissable tourist attraction, the price of the entrance ticket differs depending on how you want to climb on the roof of the dome, with the elevator the entrance costs 20 euros, and on the stairs it is a few euros cheaper. The ticket price includes a visit to the dome, its roof and the museum. I recommend you buy tickets online from the official website.

I was there in May and got inside really quickly. If you plan to visit the cathedral without a guided tour, do the research about it history, because there are a lot of details which have a lot of more meaning if you know even a piece of it story. I did the mistake to didn’t research about the history of the cathedral and now I'm sorry.

For sure the architecture of the Cathedral is incredible taking account that it took over six hundred years to finish. All the spikes, sculptures were breath taking. It's the real object of religious culture. Worth seeing. Maybe not sleeping beneath it. Concrete floor is hard for your back :)

You can save some money using the stairs (it is not that bad!) and the view is beautiful. You can see the details and it’s very impressive. Beautiful Cathedral indeed. I had visited this alone 8 years back and wanted to take my spouse & friends to see this too. Hence, in our trip to Italy Milan was added basically to see this beautiful cathedral! Visiting during the day including going to the terrace was as expected. The views from the top are also very mesmerising. The stained glass work looks beautiful from inside. However, the magic was in the night. It looks just too gorgeous with all the lighting on the facade. Happy that we went there again in the night time!

This is a great place to visit, well of course. The roof top experience is good but a bit underwhelming. There are no clear view of the cathedral from the top many areas are under construction. The inside is whole other experience and definitely worth the visit. It’s also a great place to just walk around and absorb it all in when it’s not too busy. I came back to the area twice in my less than 24 hour visit.

Took a tour of the Church. It was in English and the guide was very nice and clear. The cost includes: the tour, passage to the roof via the stairs (they charge extra for the elevator), the museum and a nearby famous church. The line for the stairs was very short. Not more than a few minutes. Get ready for a long climb, so you better be in shape 🙂 Once on the roof, the view is excellent. Note that getting off the roof might take time as there are lines of visitors waiting to get off. They charged us €45 per adult. The kids were free.

The Milan Cathedral, often called the Duomo Milan (its Italian name), is one of the most iconic sites of the northern Italy city. The church is the 4th largest in the world and is an impressive and domineering site which will leave you in awe. You cannot visit Milan without looking both inside this amazing piece of architecture but also it's even better when you go up to the roof as it is stunning. It offers an amazing view of the city and is the best place in the city to watch the sunset. The interior is elegant and stately thanks to its large sculpted marble columns that reach the ceiling. The beautiful, colorful stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the Bible are visible, reflecting an ethereal light on the floor of the church. It is now possible to descend the marble staircase to the Cathedral Treasure to see and appreciate the paleo-Christian and Romanesque objects. One of the most precious objects housed in the Duomo is situated in the dome behind the altar, it is one of the nails used during the Crucifixion of Christ. It is only exposed to the public once a year. While the entry to the Duomo is free, there is a small admission fee to visit the roof.

Nice on the exterior buy quite empty in the interior. I would say that it's extraordinary nice looking on the outside but with a very basic decoration(statues or paintings) inside. You would expect an amazing interior as the exterior but.. it isn't.

Super good day to go, no lines, not many people around at all. Lots of stairs, hot day, beautiful views! Masks are necassary and temperature was taken. Cannot have short skirts / shorts or shoulders showing inside the cathedral. Asked to cover up - staff were very respectful when asking me to do so. Overall very enjoyable experience of an extremely important and historical place!

Stupendo.

In the middle of summer, my girlfriend carried a jumper the whole day, because we were well aware of their stubborn clothing policies. She was denied entry, even though she was wearing said long sleeved jumper at the ticketing office. However, they had no issue with my short sleeved tshirt or my shorts, which did not reach my knee and thus were significantly shorter than her dress. Furthermore, the person who denied entry used truly disgusting language, which I don't even dare to repeat publicly. He only spoke french as foreign language and propably assumed I would not understand his insults. Unfortunately, my french is not that bad. But of course, they would happily have made additional money with another layer of clothing for my girlfriend, to assure that triple coverage I guess. We did not visit the church, even though we patiently made our way through the waiting line.

This is definitely the center of Milan and whoever comes to visit this city will come here to take a picture with the cathedral in the background. A lot of sellers around will sell you peanuts or seeds so that the pigeons can land on your hand to take pictures. They actually just give you peanuts and then ask for 5 euros after you are done with taking photo. But the photos are effective, it's worth it 😊 You can also bargain, we gave them just 2 e.

be careful with the pigeon feeding service. At first, some men acted as if they were generous enough to give you some free bird-food to take a photo, but later on, they would ask you 5-10 USD for the tip. I gave a man 2USD but his expression showed that he was not pleased with that, I was really afraidI might get hit by him, then decided to give him 5USD with a thank you to him.

Wejście do do środka katedry to wydatek ok 6 euro💶.

This is the most iconic place to visit in Milano. Full of people most Of the time. If you want to take a good picture without people try to go on the mornings (not Saturday neither Sunday) So watch out for nearby places because usually they are the most expensive, I would say it’s a tourist trap. there are a lot of birds and you can feed them (I do not advice though) I do not like them and they are dirty. If you can go upstairs the duomo. It needs a reservation but it is totally worth it. You can go inside the church for free. Just remember to be respectful after all is a sacred place for Catholics. The gothic cathedral is so pretty. And it changes colors depending on the hour.

(No me hizo Praxíteles, sino Marco da Agrate)

(Translated by Google) External architectureEdit The part completed first is the apse, pierced by large windows, where the coat of arms of Gian Galeazzo Visconti appears. The statues, buttresses, gargoyles and spiers generally date from the time of his successor, Filippo Maria Visconti, up to the 19th century. The fifteenth-century Carelli spire was the first to be built. Starting from the apse, which dates back to the 14th century, the sides gradually move back towards the facade until the 17th century. The external buttresses are crowned by spiers and linked to the base by several horizontal bands. At the top there is a frame with polylobe arches on corbels with anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures. Between the buttresses, at the top, there are the windows that illuminate the aisles. The apse is polygonal and framed by the bodies of the two sacristies, which are crowned by the oldest spiers. The apse is illuminated by three huge large windows with marble ribs that design the rose windows (by Filippo degli Organi, early 15th century) in the ogive. The central window, with the Visconti manta, is dedicated to the Incarnation of Christ.

Splendid place. Just stunning. Must go. Plan yourself to send at least 2h over there. Have in mind that the last entrance is 6:20pm. This is the last hour u can go to the museum and inside the church. We thought we could check every place until 7pm, but it isn’t true. 7pm everyone is already taken out of the church. In summary, have in mind the last tour is at 6pm and save yourself from some disappointment to pay the full ticket and not see everything

  • 4/5 Michael L. 2 years ago on Google
You need a few hours in order to roam around the cathedral. Tickets are around 20€ and this includes access to the lift going up to the rooftop and the tour around the Cathedral and the archaeological museum. A tip: go there during weekdays since it’s a touristy area and people are less during weekdays specially Monday.

Duomo is an impressive building both inside and outside with lot's of details. This is one of the "must see''s" when visiting Milan. To enter into Duomo you need a ticket but at least in October there was no major queues for the ticket sales nor for the security control to enter the church.

Best cathedral I've been in and the best expanse of roof I've been on too. Its definately worth getting the ticket to go on the roof. The archialogical section underneath near the main door entrance of the cathedral is worth exploring too. A must see if your in Milano

A must visit place in Milan. Its magnanimous. The Cathedral is divided in 3 parts which is the main church, underground archeological room and the roof top. The roof top gives you a complete view of the city and in clear sky you can also see the sky. It's highly recommended.

Traditional and must see spot in Milan. Tours on the inside can be done for €5,50 so you can appreciate the greatness of duomo. Recommend buy it online or you will have to get in a very big line.

Our visit here was around 10:30 am. It was a really nice experience. We booked ahead online for the lift access to the terraces but we didnt opt for the audio guide. It was not VERY busy when we came I’d say. Took loads of photos & yes overall, must see!

An amazing masterpiece that you should not miss if you're around Milan! The details of the sculptures and the cathedral itself are absolutely wonderful. We got a ticket for both the cathedral and the terrasse, which was an amazing experience. The Terrasse was only accessible with stairs during our visit, but the view from the top is breathtaking, especially during sunset.

Milan's Duomo is the largest, most interesting, most beautiful & definitely most unique Gothic church in Italy, and it is a MUST SEE! I promise it will take your breath away, and it’s worth going to see in the morning (when it’s less crowded) and then again at night (when it’s all lit up). You might even want a guide to help explain or point out the thousands of intricately-carved statues of religious figures.

Beautiful place. No words can describe how beautiful this is. So i took plenty of photos from different angles and places within. You must visit this place if you come to Italy, there is a lot of history. Even if you aren’t as interested in the history you can enjoy the views and beautiful architecture.

  • 5/5 Shyam S. 2 years ago on Google
It’s a place everyone n Milan meets literally. The square is most happening apart from the beauty of the chruch itself. Architectural masterpiece and a must visit for architects to be amazed with the details that went into it. It’s more of a facade sculpture to be rightly put in. The square is also shopping epicentre and nice way to see around is walking or cycling.

  • 5/5 Priya A. 2 years ago on Google
Gorgeous! Architecture is stunning and the trek up the stairs was DEFINITELY worth the sweat! View from the rooftop was gorgeous and a stunning experience. Shame 1 side of the cathedral was reserved for prayer and worship (although amazing they had the option available!!) as it cut you off from some of the artworks and part of the audio guide tour. Maybe a different area for worship should be worked out because the tour missed out some beautiful parts and artworks of the cathedral. Staff were extremely helpful when I didn’t know where to collect my audio guide from and even let me skip scanning my tickets and bag check again when I re-entered the cathedral. Amazing experience

  • 5/5 Bruna F. 1 year ago on Google
The cathedral is very impressive. We came on a very hot Saturday in June and the best thing we did was to book our tickets in advance. We bought the rooftop ticket with the elevator since we came with a small child. There is the option to go by stairs but it's more than 200 steps. Even having bought the ticket you have to wait in line but in our case it didn't take more than 30min to get in. The other line was longer. On the rooftop the view is impressive and you can stay as long as you want. Not many shades to protect from the sun. The construction itself is amazing and definitely worth the visit. You go down the stairs and it ends inside the cathedral which is also stunning. If you get the ticket to visit the whole cathedral - which we didn't find necessary - keep in mind you have to cover knees and shoulders to get in.

  • 5/5 Julieta H. 1 year ago on Google
Simple beautiful! We got the private tour with the official guide from Duomo and she really knows lots of history fact and everything that happened. The glasses, And sun line to tell the time, the underground discovered church, the old and modern sculpture by different artists and events. The view from top is great and you can see all the amazing details. We loved it!

  • 4/5 H 1 year ago on Google
Worth visiting! I ended up just doing the rooftop terrace and didn’t pay extra to go in the cathedral (you get to walk through quickly as you exit the terraces which was enough for me). Get in line 10-15 min before it opens so you don’t have to wait long and it isn’t crowded with people. Definitely a must see!

  • 5/5 Maryna Z. 1 year ago on Google
Great building. Architecture masterpiece which you want to look and look at. Same interesting inside as outside. Don't hesitate to take guided tour - you will know a lot if interesting things. If want to climb up to the up - calculate your power, some people better to take elevator, because stairs is really hard way.

A masterpiece of magnificence. Lots of sculptures on each side of the building. Already felt honored to be there to witness such views from various positions. Very suitable for walking in that area on a relaxing day!!

I have visited Milano twice and I am in love with the city and especially with this cathedral. It's impressive inside and outside, definitely worth the money. If you are lucky the queue is not very long and you won't need ticket in advance. Try to arrive early especially in the summer, but I can recommend to visit also end of September/ October because there will be less people. Also don’t forget to cover you shoulders and knees, because it is mandatory. Tickets are good prices and on the top the views are breathalyzing .

  • 5/5 Vicki O. 7 months ago on Google
Stunning! Especially at night. We did the roof top walk, with elevator up. Glad we did as it was so hot! Definitely book in advance and head there early, but a must see!

The religious church is the main attraction in Milan. An awe-inspiring work of true grandeur. The building is adorned with an abundance of sculptures on both sides. I was truly privileged to have had the opportunity to witness such breathtaking views from different vantage points.

  • 5/5 Cee Q. 7 months ago on Google
Overwhelmingly, breathtakingly huge cathedral with so many beautiful sculptures within. You'll seriously be blown away by its size. You enter and wow! Then you walk around and there's even more cathedral at every turn! Multiple prayer stations. Enormous, gorgeous stained glass windows. How in the world did they build this place?! Note: if you're able to walk/climb stairs, take the rooftop tour. It's amazing, the detail on the spires and the view of the city from the roof are worth the long climb to the top.

  • 5/5 Rachael T. 7 months ago on Google
The cathedral is breath taking. So many intricate details & something interesting to see everywhere you look. Recommend getting tickets in advance to go in during peak season, the line can also get very long - make sure you have water when its hot! Make sure knees and shoulders are covered if you are going inside. Worth doing the roof top walk too.

The Milano Duomo stands as an awe-inspiring cathedral that should be a must-visit on your itinerary. Its architecture is nothing short of exquisite. It's a beautiful catheter 😍 My friend is an internationally disabled person (die Retardkarte) so we got our ticket for free!! It was an amazing view down. There was a piano 🎹 on the top of the catheter 🤯😲 It was super high one lady even fell down 🤥 Overall me and my friends love this building there were weird statues of some people and all kinds of symbols from local religion 🕌☪️

  • 5/5 R H. 7 months ago on Google
We did the roof top walk, highly recommend over just seeing the inside as to be honest I was a bit disappointed with the inside. Still a great masterpiece but don't expect the stain glass windows and paintings. It's a bit dull and cold inside, the outside holds all the glory.

  • 5/5 Marie 6 months ago on Google
WOW! This place is stunning 🤩 We took the Metro to Duomo station and as we were walking up the steps from the underground, this stunning building was there right in front of us. It looks nice on pictures, but I wasn't prepared for just how beautiful it was to see in the flesh. It took my breath away, I stared at it for a minute of two and drank in the beauty. We bought tickets which were around €22 each, and took the lift to the top. You can buy tickets online using the QR code outside, or in the building next to it. Highly recommended trip! One thing that I don't understand is why people were being told to cover up if they had shoulders showing, and to remove baseball caps. I asked the guide and they said it's because it's a church and for modesty, which I still don't understand as there are nude statues and sculptures of beheadings. Just be aware if you do go as I believe, but I'm not sure, you have to pay for a cover up. Really glad we saw this place as it is truly something special, an absolute feast for the eyes.

The Duomo di Milano is an absolute must-visit in Milan. It's an extraordinary masterpiece of Milanese architecture. The climb up to the Duomo is truly worth it. We booked the tickets in advance. Going early allowed us to avoid the crowds, and we were able to capture some fantastic pictures.

GET THERE EARLY! We got there early and was not crowded. Very beautiful historical sacred place 💕 I could honestly stare at this all day and never get tired of all its fine details. To see it in person is truly breathtaking. We bought tickets online, we also got tickets to go up top to the roof and in the basement. We got up to the roof using the elevator and we really had fun. We went on Sunday, and we enjoyed Duomo Mass.

  • 2/5 Asami 6 months ago on Google
Don’t get me wrong the building itself and it’s materials as well as how it’s been shaped is majestic ! the rooftop and entry experience is not the best. From entry staff isn’t nice, luggage is not allowed and despite having a space they do not offer to help with that. It’s very very crowded once you get to the rooftop and it obscures the view. Ironically, you enjoy it better from outside than being within. 13€ to walk stairs and look at the city from above is a bit overrated. And, I believe that you are not having anything else more than what others are seeing from outside. Church interior is just like any other Catholic church and rooftop is good IF less people but not special as it’s not giving a different perspective than what you see when you’re below

Great place to learn a little about Universal Human history. As a Portuguese guy, I loved learning a little about Italian history/culture, as everyone knows our culture has been linked for a long time, since the Roman Empire, latin language to the discoveries of Columbus (which were only made with the sponsorship of the Portuguese court), also including religion and all wars caused by Christianity. All the commerce surrounding the cathedral is focused on tourism, everything very clean, organized, good food, drinks and an infinite number of people coming from all over the world. On the roof we have a wonderful view of the entire cathedral and city of Milan. I advice everyone to buy tickets to visits roof an interior, can be made in 1 & half easily, if have change can visits the museum use well.

  • 5/5 BRUNET E. 5 months ago on Google
I wish I could see it without anyone around to be able to enjoy it 300% It s an amazing cathedral. Please take time to look at the details. The door. The side. Look up. Did not visit the inside yet but would love to go back to see it.

You should buy the ticket online on the Official website (cheaper). The line for ticket often took 30min+. Worth visiting the rooftop and museum. The stairs for rooftop is narrow and long, elevator is recommended for elders ( it only cost 7euro more each person). Some of the places there were under construction

The Duomo di Milano, or Milan Cathedral, is an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of Milan, Italy. Its stunning Gothic facade adorned with intricate sculptures and its sheer size, making it one of the largest cathedrals in the world. Visitors are often amazed by the detailed interior, stained glass windows, and the panoramic views from the rooftop terraces. However, long queues and crowds, especially during peak times, can affect the overall experience for some. Nevertheless, the Duomo remains a top-rated attraction, appreciated for its beauty, history, and cultural significance.

Purchase tickets in advance Great cathedral with beautiful, ornate designs throughout the whole building We took the lift to the roof - was very busy but beautiful. Be mindful that it was all stairs back down. The cathedral museum is also worth a visit & part of your ticket price - a good way to see the ornate detail up close

Milan Duomo is a must-visit destination for anyone in Milan. The combination of its stunning interior and the unparalleled views from the roof make it a truly unforgettable experience. Plan ahead, buy your tickets in advance, and get ready to be amazed by the beauty that awaits you at every turn. For those seeking a shortcut to the top, the lift is a convenient option. It offers a smooth ascent, saving your energy for the awe-inspiring views that await. However, keep in mind that the journey down requires a bit of effort, as the stairs are the primary means of descent. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a bit of exercise.

A beautiful and breathtaking 600 year old Gothic architecture. I LOVED every minute spent here. I took the lift to the terrace and the view from rooftop was Magnificent. Some building! Incredible construction made mainly of marble over nearly 600 years. Tickets to get in advance. Certainly with roof access. Outer walls and decorations are beyond description. Some job. You may access the crypt and neighbouring museum for additional fee. Visiting was rather quick but I'd recommend to spend some time to contemplate magnificent work.

Come early so avoid crowds, we got a self guided audio tour and it was a good decision, also highly recommend to pay a little extra and take a lift to terraces, saves time and energy so you can spend it better on more sights. Very interesting sight, also some time around noon might see a sun ray in one of the stained glass windows-will make a good picture.
