While
this
is
a
typical
mall,
it
is
atypical
in
the
way
that
they
charge
people
for
visiting.
Anyone
using
the
parking
garage
to
visit
merchants
in
the
mall
are
charged
a
minimum
of
$2
(the
first
hour)
and
$2
each
additional
hour
with
a
$16
maximum.
Given
the
pandemic,
the
mall
is
sparsely
attended
and
many
shops
are
closed.
Parking
is
plentiful.
Even
before
the
plague,
the
mall
parking
lots
were
fairly
wide
open
(except
during
Christmas).
The
one
store
that
is
busy
is
the
Apple
store
which
requires
an
appointment
to
shop.
Even
when
you
have
an
appointment
and
are
able
to
get
in
and
out
of
the
mall
in
under
an
hour,
you're
still
charged.
Apparently,
the
Taubman
Company,
which
runs
Cherry
Creek
Mall
has
failed
to
recognize
the
decline
in
retail
shopping.
Instead
of
discouraging
people
by
charging
a
fee
for
parking,
they
should
be
using
the
parking
garage
as
an
attraction
to
get
more
shoppers
*into*
their
mall.
Further,
they
should
take
a
roll
in
being
good
corporate
citizens
of
the
area
and
by
encouraging
people
to
park
at
the
mall
and
explore
the
rest
of
the
Cherry
Creek
Community
-
including
Cherry
Creek
North.
Their
rationale
for
charging
for
parking
is
the
exact
reason
they
should
keep
parking
free.
If
people
park
at
the
mall
and
then
go
explore
the
rest
of
the
neighborhood
because
there's
no
other
parking
in
Cherry
Creek,
that
should
be
a
good
thing!
If
Cherry
Creek
gets
a
reputation
as
an
area
with
no
parking
then
people
will
look
to
other
parts
of
Denver
to
do
their
shopping.
Shopping
will
decline
throughout
the
area
-
including
the
mall.
