It is really good, has security (although it is pretty costly), there's about 2-3 floors, first floor Is the church it self, there's a mini museum with photos and even shows from the past showing the history of Latvia (Soviet times, Independence, etc.), There are even some ruins that archeologists found, I won't spoil the rest, the second floor has stairs leading there, an elevator leading to the St. Peter's Tower, the view is wonderful from the tower (quick warning: it's freezing there, wear warm clothes). Have a nice visit.

A pay-to-enter church with two experiences: you can see the first floor of the church with an impressive center display and a lot of history around the hall. Or you can pay to also see the tower, with a good view of Riga. I’d recommend seeing the Tower, which gave a pretty great panoramic vantage.

St. Peter's Church is located in Old Town near Town Square and the House of the Blackheads. It is one of the oldest medieval architecture in the Baltic States. The main attraction is the viewing platform. Peering down onto Old Town looks like a children's play set. Best to visit at the beginning of your trip to orientate yourself.

Absolutely beautiful church. It’s a must if you are in the area. You have to take the tour. I pay and it goes back into the restoration of the church. It’s a cheap entrance fee. Look around and you can see how old the church really is. It’s been through so much over time and been rebuilt then modernized. All we can say is stunning and completely worth the time.

360* view of Riga from their observation desk. With a student ticket of 7e.its affordable. Worth a visit. The church itself isn't happening.

Best church in Riga. Amazing customer service at front desk and tower elevator. Just skip the other churches and go for this one. You get to visit the tower and look down upon the lame churches (looking at you Riga Doms) that don't allow tower visits.

Beautiful visit. A lot of history posted, which is different than many cathedrals and churches I've visited. The observation deck is beautiful. Worth the payment.

The inside is not that special, especially when you've seen a lot of churches already. But what makes it impressive is that it's just really really big. And of course, what everyone comes for is the view. Is it worth the 9 Euros? Well if you really like great views, why not.. and hey, you're on a holiday, right? :) The platform upstairs offers room to a lot of people, so it's quite ok to spend some time there. I really liked it.

The main attraction of this Lutheran parish church is the 123 meter high tower, one of the top 20 tallest church towers in the world, from which you have an unobstructed view of the Latvian capital. The first church tower from 1491 was even 13 meters higher, but collapsed in 1666. The Petrikerk has not been very lucky with its church towers, because four more times after this, they were burned down, collapsed or even demolished for lack of the correct permit. The interior is a nice example of a Brick Gothic church. Especially worth a visit for the tower view.

St. Peter's Church is a must-see for any visitor to Riga. The church itself is a beautiful example of medieval architecture, but the real draw is the observation deck at the top of the tower. From the deck, you can enjoy stunning 360-degree views of the city and its surroundings. On the first level of the church, there are posters that tell the story of Riga's history with Christianity and notable figures. This is a great way to learn more about the city's culture and heritage before heading up to the observation deck.

St. Peter’s church is the top attraction in Old Riga, in my opinion. Ticket to see the church only is €3 while tower & church ticket is €9. The church is very old and dates back to 1209. It had been reconstructed many times due to its partial or major destruction caused by fire, lightning and war. The church exhibits remnants of the old basilica and bits of history lies on the ground and around the church. The church is beautiful. The candelabrum of the church is gigantic and impressive. It stands 310 meters high & 378 meters wide. It was taken to Poland by the German nazis during that period in time, WW2, but was returned to Riga in 2012 as a result of an agreement on the repatriation of cultural properties. There are boards around the church with tons of information which can take hours to read. The tower is the highlight of the tour. It offers a clear 360-degree view of the city. No wires or steel to block the view. The elevator is located on the third floor. It’s an absolutely amazing experience.

Nice view on the historic town of Riga. You cam buy tickets to only the church or for church and the tower, i definitely recommend the second option. You can try the night (or late evening) opening hours for the view in the dark with light on, definitely interesting and different point of view.

Review for St. Peter's Church, Riga: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ St. Peter's Church in Riga is an epitome of architectural splendor and spiritual tranquility. I fell deeply in love with this iconic beauty – having it grace the view outside my window was the absolute highlight of my trip. There's an ineffable energy radiating from this majestic structure, beckoning visitors with its allure. It truly stands as the centerpiece, the cherry on top of the cake, in this already enchanting city. As an international remote personal trainer and life coach, I'm inspired by such masterpieces that echo dedication and grandeur. Just as this church is an emblem of Riga's charm, I'm here to help individuals become the best version of themselves, both physically and mentally. If you're seeking to align your spirit with the majesty of life's wonders, don't hesitate to reach out and don't hesitate to visit St. Peter's Church if your in old town Riga 🌆🏰💼💪🏼

Stunningly elegant church set in the middle of Old Riga. Nice setting and a lovely part of town. Beautiful bell tower and we are just musing whether to pay the €7 fee for the view or not?🧐. Nice interior but not the grandest/historical of churches I’ve seen. Stiff competition in Europe in this category. However we’ll worth a visit.

Beautiful view from the clocktower! The church itself was pretty simple, the oldness of it was attractive, but otherwise nothing too special, which is why not 5 stars. But I think the observation deck is definitely worth the visit, incredibly windy this time of year, but it's a lovely way to enjoy Riga from above.

A fantastic panoramic view of Riga however the price is a little steep at €9 each. The tower is has recently opened at night, we went during day and night but enjoyed it more during the day time. Worth a visit for the views.

Considering that the church does not get any funds from the government, I definitely dont mind spending the 9 euros for the church and tower visit. The tower provides a beautiful view of the city and the church in itself is nothing out of the ordinary but still a nice one.

Absolutely, combining both previous responses: "Stepping into the magnificent St. Peter's Church was a journey through time and architectural brilliance. The centuries-old structure, adorned with intricate details, stands as a testament to Latvia's rich history. Exploring its interior revealed a blend of Gothic elegance and cultural heritage, each nook telling a story of bygone eras. Visiting St. Peter's Church was an absolute delight! The historical charm blended seamlessly with the awe-inspiring views from the observation deck. The intricate architecture and serene ambiance made it a memorable experience. A must-visit for anyone exploring Riga's rich history and enjoying panoramic city vistas. Ascending to the observation deck was a highlight—an exhilarating experience offering panoramic views of Riga. From the top, the city unfolded in a breathtaking tapestry, a fusion of old-world charm and modern vitality. The sprawling cityscape, with its vibrant streets and historic landmarks, was a visual symphony. The knowledgeable staff added immense value to the visit, providing insightful tidbits about the church's history and the city's evolution. Their passion for preserving the cultural heritage was evident in their engaging narratives. St. Peter's Church is a quintessential landmark for anyone exploring Riga. Whether admiring the stunning architecture, delving into history, or capturing the picturesque views from the top, it's an unmissable destination. A true masterpiece nestled in the heart of this charming city, offering an unforgettable experience to all who visit." This comprehensive review captures the essence of the historical significance, architectural beauty, panoramic views, and overall experience at St. Peter's Church. Feel free to adjust it further according to your personal experience!

Really nice view on Riga! I put 4 stars as it costs now 9 eur which I think is really expensive! The church is absolutely beautiful. The lift that goes to the top is really old and slow, was an experience in itself. Probably one of the best view of Riga with the Latvian Science Academy and Skyline Bar.

St. Peter's Church in Riga is a must-visit attraction for anyone exploring the city's Old Town. The church's Gothic and Baroque architecture, along with its rich history and beautiful interior, make it a captivating sight to behold. The real highlight, however, is ascending the church tower. The panoramic views from the observation deck are simply breathtaking, offering an unparalleled perspective of Riga's Old Town, the Daugava River, and beyond. Don't miss the opportunity to climb to the top for an unforgettable experience!

St. Peter's church is centrally located, in the heart of old town Riga. For 9€ per person you can visit the church (quite austere) and you have access to a beautiful view of the city of Riga. An elevator will bring you to the top of the church tower. During winter, the atmosphere is magical but temperature is freezing cold.

Review of Saint Peter's Church in Riga Pros: - Offers a stunning panorama of Riga, providing different viewpoints. - The church's interior, while standard, is still beautiful. Cons: - Can get a bit crowded, which might detract from the experience for some visitors. - While the church is aesthetically pleasing, it doesn't offer anything exceptionally unique in terms of its interior. Overall: Saint Peter's Church in Riga offers visitors a chance to witness a breathtaking panorama of the city. The different viewpoints it provides are a definite highlight. Inside, while the church is undeniably beautiful, it doesn't stand out as anything extraordinary. The only downside might be the crowd, but it's manageable. It would have been a more serene experience if it were less populated.

Incredible acoustics, a building that has already outlasted us all by hundreds of years, and it's still right here, in use today in exactly the same way, where it has been since before other countries even existed! Few places declare permanence like this.

Came here solely for the tower which is 9 euros. You have to climb 58 steps up to the third floor where the lift starts. The view is ok but I think I preferred the one from Stalin’s Birthday Cake as it includes this church. The interior of this church is nice enough without being jaw dropping. There are also WC facilities here but they aren’t signposted - they are behind double doors on the left hand side of the church after entering. If in doubt just ask the staff.

It is an amazing place to get a whole view of the city. Being a student it costed 7e for me to go up to the observation tower, but I would say it was totally worth it. I got to see almost every must visit spot in the city from here. The interior of the church is okayish, there are much grander churches inside Riga itself.

  • 5/5 Davide B. 9 months ago on Google
The church in itself is quite simple and with not much going on. The visit to its tower is another story though! You need to ascend 3 floors by foot (stairs are ample and doable for elders too) and take the elevator. The view from the platform is amazing: the old city, the markets and the river all at your feet and you can see very far despite being “only 65m” tall.

This was a quite a nice church. Unfortunately I’ve rated it lower (though I could have been a 3/5) because it’s a shame how it’s used more as an exhibition hall rather than a prayer space. I don’t know how often the services and mass are but it seems the ticket office is a permanent thing and makes us think that maybe those looking to just go in and pray have to go through the system to do so. On the plus side, we got quite lucky as we had a lovely snowfall when we visited the tower - cold but pretty like we were part of a snow globe. It was €9/10 per person which is bit dear, but views were good. Make sure you have your winter gear if you go up if it’s a winter-blizzardy/snowy day! 🥶

  • 5/5 Jelena K. 5 years ago on Google
The iconic Riga landmark. Really worth visiting. You have two ticket options - to see the church inside or to get on the top of the tower (about 172m high). I really recommend to get on the top because of the stunning city views - you get the 360 view on the city and the Daugava River. Just a note - there is a lift so you will not need to do a lot of climbing; you cna stay upstairs as long as you want. The church itself holds a lot of history and it is worth reading about it before coming in. Often inside there are other art exhibitions.

One of the main attractions in Riga. Entrance is free, 9€ to a viewing platform where there is a great panorama view to the whole Old Riga (and further). To go up is 9 euro. I think that is super expensive, but if you look away when tapping your card and take the elevator up, the views are very nice with only one issue - the beautiful St. Peter's Church tower is missing from the panorama. It would be also good if the museum part had at least short English translations.
