This Hotel has its fame. But we couldn't see nothing good in it now. We went for lunch. And there was not much dishes available, that too on Sunday. Only non veg meal, chicken and mutton biriyani and chicken and mutton chukka and In fishes, it's only vanjaram fish fry. Not even egg was available. We 2 ordered Non-veg meals and 2 briyani. For meals, they kept only 2 cups of same mutton gravy without any meat, 2 cups of rasam, 2 cups of buttermilk to fill the plates and there was not even other gravies. Talking about Briyani, it's awful. Taste is not upto mark, one piece of chicken with one small plate full of rice. Not even boiled egg also included. And it cost ₹260 per plate😱 it was really costly for that. There was a Board mentioning special dishes, just don't believe that.. Not even those items were available. And all the items we have ordered has some major issues. Chicken fry- no taste at all.Just Plain chicken fried in oil with curry leaves. Fish fry- not properly cleaned. Smells bad!! Mutton chukka - ok, but salty. Have Not seen a good service as well. Highly not recommended for family lunch and with kids!!! I would tell now even with friends!!

One of the best places i have visited for lunch. All their gravy is their trademark. Should try their mutton chukka and karandi omlette. Will recommend to all my friends and will visit next time for sure when i am in Salem. I don't care about ambience when the food is that good 👍

The rates are too high for the quality and quantity . Parrotta 1 piece costs 40 .. mutton Biriyani was like tomato rice .. mutton was not cooked well. Not worth for the money you spend. Rates are like in a 4 star hotel but the facility is like a local parotta shop. At the hand wash , news papers were cut into pieces to be used as hand napkins.

I am not sure how it got so many good reviews. Worst food I have ever had in salem town. We went for lunch. Meat was not cooked properly. No taste in the curry. Yes I am a fan for selvi mess and i want to give this mess a try but unfortunately it turned up bad.

Don't ever get fooled by the YouTube reviews where they are paid reviews. This hotel food were taste good but their price is very much high compared to star hotels. Their meals doesn't even have any sides like appalam or any poriyal, they serve only rice and gravies where you have to pay high for their sides. I have named it as 300rs shop where all their dishes costs 300 seperately. Which is way too high for their quantity and taste. Some hotels have high price for their taste which will be compromised. But here it's not even a AC ambience where costs is like a star hotel. The one star is for their looting attitude.

One of the old hotel in salem. Small hotel with no proper service and zero taste. They charge so high like as they maintain a 3 star hotel. The attitude of staffs are really bad. If they improve the taste and ambience it can be recommended.

A waste hotel. It WAS a famous hotel. It does not mean they give tasty food now. Hotel situated in a congested area and no more than 6 two wheelers can be parked here. In star hotels the chefs take great to see to that the there is no smell of the dish, so that the person sitting in the nearby table is not disturbed by it. Here the chef (master) takes great care to see that there is NO TASTE in the dish. It is utterly bland /insipid. I ordered for chicken fry and they gave me curry leaves fry. The entire plate was full of fried curry leaves with very very small pieces of chicken (the thickness of ballpoint pen refills) and bones... Yes bones only bones without chicken. They charged rs. 200/- for that fried curry leaves. I dont know to whom i should complain to ? The consumer court or food inspector. Curry leave fry foto is uploaded .

Worst hotel in the city, they charging 300 + gst for single Nattu Kozhi biriyani which is actually valarpu kozhi and taste of that biriyani is like tomato rice with more oil, it’s real worth is 70rs, very bad experience, if you really want to eat chettinad dishes there are lot of famous hotels in the city like Selvi mess, Sri vari and more.. don’t visit this hotel, definitely you will get disappointment that’s 100% sure…….

In Mangala Vilas branch this one branch is very tasty and quality and well served quality non veg food is also delicious in Salem. I like to eat non-veg food in Salem mostly at this restaurant where many places mislead the curry chicken as country chicken nothing like that here.

They are not giving mutton curry for dosa and poratta unless you ask. And parcels are the worst, even if we specifically ask for curry they won't give. Worst experience ever

Save yourself. Don't ever visit. Me and my brother got food poisoned after eating last week. Taste sucks. No service. No ambience. Avoid at any cost.

Food is ok but cost of every item here is soo high. This is a non - Vegetarian hotel and the chicken served is a country chicken 🍗 so the cost of it is high.

Food tastes good, i really enjoyed the food I wanted to give 5 stars but due to atmosphere am giving 4 stars. While inside the hotel it's too hot no proper power for fan and light while having the food. Except all these the food tastes really good.

The food tastes good. The famous dish was mutton but it was not cooked properly when we had it but the gravy was good and the biriyani was nice and the white rice and the gravy and rasam they gave was good and the service was nice.

Neat, hygiene, taste buds all were alive. In Salem, make sure you visit this place for excellent food. And people are excellent too.

They serve briyani & meals for lunch ,Parotta, dosa & egg varieties for dinner in addition they serve non -veg items country chicken ,mutton & fish varieties .I would suggest to try pichipotta country chicken fry,mutton Suka .This branch is one of the very old one,Still they maintain the greet the customer in same good manner ,Provide good service & maintains the same taste.
