Constructed in 1200AD..... One of the very oldest temple in salem.... Kumbaabishekam was held in 1998.... If you are the devotee of lord shiva, you need to visit this temple at least once in your life... Now the renovation works are going at the temple... So you can worship only Lord sugavaneshwarar and swarnaambiga.... I have attached the timings of temple as photo below... Please check it out

One of the very best architecture of temples I have visited ever. 5 gopuras at 5 directions with a small lake inside that has fishes in it as well. Very peaceful to visit. Less cost effective. There is a special individual temple at the top of the hill apart from this. We couldn't able to visit as its closed on the timing we visited. It will be closed around 1-30 pm to 2 pm and will get re-opened at 4 pm. Definitely should visit.Highly Recommended.

Ancient popular Shiva temple in Salem. On muhurtham days very crowded. Weddings are conducted in front of Murugan Sannidhi. Car parking is available inside and can be approached east and west side entrance. Maharishi SUGAVANAR statue situated near Navagraha Sannidhi. Nandavanam is well maintained with goshala.

Ancient temple , good vibes but the staff are so rude towards devotees . One Bhaskar there behaves like an animal with humans . They physically abused and had a worst experience . There are many other good places to visit to have Sarahan if Shiv than this place . They have goondas there to manhandle women hyping unnecessary..

Such a divine temple to visit. Great sculptures and idols around. Exclusive parking space for car and bike is available inside the temple premises. Neat and clean environment is maintained. Temple might get crowded incase of any special occasions. Only thing is, Since the temple entrance is located in the corner of the street road, it's quite an issue when the heavy vehicles like bus and van tries to enter inside.

Beautiful temple. One of the five temples worshipped by Bheema, the Pandava Prince. The Lord is self manifested. It is a belief that worshiping all temples in a day cleanses one of all sins.

Avvaiyar is one of the great poets in Tamil and she is supposed to have performed lots of miracles here that attracted many kings to this place. The daughter of the divine poet got married in this temple and the invitees included the CheraMannan, CholaMannan and Pandya Mannan. Many poets belonging to Saiva sect of Hinduism have written poems in praise of the temple. Based on the lyrics it is estimated that the origin of the temple goes back as early as first century AD.There are lots of occasions marked for celebration in this temple. Ganesh Puja that is known here as VinayakarChadurthi and is celebrated in the month of Avani (August / September). 33 statues of Lord Vinayaka are installed during the occasion and special pujas and abhisheks are conducted for all the Murthies. NatarajarPeruvizha is conducted in the tamil month of Aani (July / August) when the Urchavar, Natarajar is taken around the temple in a procession. AadiPooram is a festival that is conducted in the Tamil month of Aadi (July / August). It is a seven day festival. Processions, display of arts are famous in these days.NavrathriThiriuvizha is celebrated in a grand manner in the temple in the Tamil Month of Puratasi (September / October). It is a 10 days celebration. During the period decorated images and statues of Gods and Goddesses are collected and displayed in different styles. This particular ritual is called 'Kolu'KandhaSashti is celebrated in the month ogAipasi (October / November). This is the day when Lord Muruga killed the demon king 'Asura' and it is celebrated as 'SooraSamharam'.
