They serve the best buffet-style food in town. You choose your ingredients and sauces, and the experienced chefs cook it while you wait n' watch! Galena was the nice lady who brought us our drinks, rice n' wraps, and she was very polite and friendly in providing us with that service. Overall it was a great dining experience!

Pick your own combination of meats, fish, noodles, veges and sauces then watch the great chefs cook it on a huge round hotplate. Depending on how busy it is you may have to wait, but they go pretty fast. Add your own sauces, peanuts or sesame seeds to finish. A small bowl of soft serve ice cream is served to top it off. Great night.

The time that we went was prime and there was an awful lot of people and not enough. Staff management should have either stepped up and stepped in or brought an extra people during those hours. Still. The food was amazing, fresh and the service was good even though they were rushed and working well past capacity.

Fun fantastic place to eat , wonderful customer service. My wife and I stop by for dinner on her birthday.

The food was great the service was lacking. Didn't receive drinks till finished meal. At that time we were offered rice and rice wraps which should have been offered at beginning of meal. In fact just to get our water I went to waiter station an got myself for the table. Was first time there. No one explained what to do. So was a learning experience. Now I know what to expect when/if we go back .

Good service. Good food. The cooks put in work. If they could only label their sauces, that would be very helpful.

Kinda hard to have a bad experience here seeing as you pick your own ingredients, its your fault if you dint like it. They have a great selection and the service is always stellar. One of VERY FEW restaurants that I feel comfortable going to alone because the staff is no nice. My roommate and I come in frequently because it's all you can eat. It's a little pricey to be fair but if you go during lunch it's cheaper.

Chang's is pretty good and your only choice if you live in Salem. And occasionally we eat there. However that being said,Golden Tent is vastly superior. The Salem location closed several years ago but there is one in Vancouver Washington. The main difference is the amount of choices at Golden Tent concerning Veggies and sauce choices. Also the grills differ slightly so Chang's is a little dryer and Golden Tents is a bit juicier. Chang's is still pretty good. If you want Mongolian Q in Salem give ' em a try. One more thing, Vegans will love either of these places.

We took our whole crew out for a business lunch food tasted amazing, but we all had diarrhea in a matter of hours. The cooks are amazing, but the wait staff has the customer service skills of a porcupine.

Big selection to choose from when putting together the bowls. It's always fun to watch your food be made on the big grill. I love this place.

This place is very accommodating. We showed up with our 20 man fire fighting hand crew. They were very welcoming. They got us nice seating all together in the back and were very kind when they served us. Which is usually not the case. We ha e been shunned and turned down at places Luke Mc Donald's in the past so t was refreshing to be treated so good here. Will definitely come again next time im in town.

I really love the concept. I came on a Saturday and the place was super OVER crowded and messy. Sticky table. Long line to get my food. The waitress did a great job and was friendly. The cooks really have a tough job and yet they were working very effectively and efficiently as a team. They had good attitude. The food was tasty but I wish they had some more options for sauces especially. The price is a bit high in my opinion $15.95 for the lunch time and $3.25 for fountain drink. Since I can’t eat more than 1 plate, I wish there was a more affordable option. Almost $20 for lunch!! Sheesh!! And then I still had to tip on top of that!

Last time my boyfriend and I came, it was busy, but they still had great service. We’ve had Gal as our server a couple times. Sweet girl! Will continue to come again.

They've adjusted to conditions really well. If you haven't done Mongolian Grill during COVID, you are missing out. They've got plexiglass where you normally fill your bowls. An employee stand across from you,, like at Subway.. You tell them what you want. They give you huge portions of whatever you want. They overloaded three bowls. I usually use two bowls and don't get nearly that much food. You stand where you normally would while they cook it. Meanwhile, another employee packs up rice, wraps, and soup for you. They chef puts your food on a plate like usual. Them slides it into a huge to go box. They put on whatever sauces you want and then pack it all up nicely. All the employees were super friendly and glad to see us. There was almost no line when we went (Friday at 11:30). I know it sucks for them, but the only thing I never liked about this place was the crowds and the line. We were in and out. It's pretty sweet. And, it was delicious as always! ...for lunch and dinner.

They are not giving costumer the plum sauce bottles any longer. They prefer to put the sauce on for you. However if you like the sauce as much as my family does they will put some on a plate for you and give you a spoon to dish it onto your food. Side note- they gave me a dish of sugar which was previously on another table, so not allowing us to touch the plum sauce bottle is not due to the prevention of covid. Also guest tables are closer then six feet and they do not seat every other table. Very stressful dinner.

Not enough selection of sauces to give the noodles any flavor. I wish they could upgrade choices to match Coburg Mongolian, but as is, it’s not flavorful enough for me. Overall, the staff was friendly, waited in a relatively short line for a Mongolian grill, and they were doing a good job updating the items.

Took my work team here for dinner. Food selection was great. You pick your own ingredients. If you dont like it, it's your own fault! Service was friendly and attentive.

Not very impressed. The selection of items on the BBQ table was great but the bowls were tiny and the grill was so hot it just steamed the sauce away without it cooking into the food. It was basically steamed with water. We were disappointed.

Chang's is once again under new management and all new staff. The food was very good, however we found dirty dishes on the counter where people are supposed to get clean dishes to gather the food they want cooked. On top of that, the wait staff were gathered in little clutches around the front counter, and various places blocking patrons from getting to their tables and other things in the establishment, very unprofessional, boys talking to girls about personal things not for patrons and their family to hear. Overall I was very unimpressed with the new staff and the way they are NOT BEING MANAGED AT ALL! To bad, it was a great establishment for a long time, but if this is the new standard of "non-management," then I'm afraid it won't be like long before someone gets food poisoning, or some sickness related to a non clean environment.

June 20, 2022 update: Spent my 2022 bday dinner here at Chang's again. Everything was wonderful again except for one thing. For some reason they no longer had their normal hot oil sauce and instead had hot chili sauce which was no where near as yummy. So that was pretty disappointing. Still good but please please bring the hot oil sauce back!!! 👍 Normal seating, serving, and dining have resumed and masks are no longer required. 😊 June 20, 2021: Spent my 2021 birthday dinner here with my best friend and the food was delicious, as usual. This is probably my favorite restaurant of all. They never disappoint me. Right now they have a wait list because of COVID-19 so you get on the list and then they call you when there is an open table, but they only allow in a small number of guests at a time and they will dish up your food instead of doing it yourself like it used to be. Anyway, I totally recommend Chang's. Delicious!!!
