My partner and I are a regular to this restaurant now. We would order rare steak pho, summer roll and salt and pepper chicken every time we visit. The pho: You would't say it's the most glamorous food on earth, there are no wagyu beef, or any expensive ingredients in it, but they just perfected the simple thing. Broth is solid, unlike the others that you would get from another restaurant, the flavour is rich and tasty. You can tell it was simmered by bones and a mixed blend of herbs. Nothing artificial at all. Adding and mixing with the herbs provided on the side (mint, coriander, lemon, chilli), they lift up the soup to another level. Noodles are silky smooth, soft but still remains the texture that they supposed to be. (Al dente? I'm not sure whether it can apply to pho hahaha) Beef is nice too, because it was rare when it was placed into the soup, the hot soup would slow cook them and by the time you eat them they'd become medium-rare. Juicy and succulent. To be honest I see the meat in every pho as a sidekick. The mains are always the broth and the noodles.

2nd visit. Great food. 1st visit huge soup. 2nd a stir fry. Both great dishes. Fresh summer rolls lovely. VN coffee took me back. Frozen "deep fried" ice cream not so good as it seemed straight from freezer rather than freshly fried. This place is a real gem and great value.

Totally worth the price. Bo bun hue and pho was super tasty - authentic and the broth was rich and flavourful. Totally heartwarming after a long day. Friendly staff and super cute kids.

On the way to Manchester town centre, we Google and add one more stop for Viet foods as lunch. Nice family running viet foods restaurant. Clean and friendly. My husband and I love the coffee, my sons love the crispy rolls and the classic viet soup noodles. My daughter love the pork with rice. The chilli paste and garlic sauce on the table are home made. πŸ’•

Absolutely love Viet Guy and have been a few times. Food is really tasty with 80% being Vietnamese and the other 20% being other Asian-inspired dishes, such as Pad Thai. The Beef Pho and Ban Xeo are absolutely outstanding. And the deep fried ice cream is also a winner. Service is more akin to a serviced cafΓ© than a proper sit-down place, but if you know to expect this then you won't be disappointed on the day.

A nice Vietnamese in Northenden. The summer rolls are great! Love it. Don’t go for it in summer, it defo an all year round thing. The same goes to the more well known spring rolls, the OG. Pho are great but my favourite is bun bo hue, the spicier version of the famed noodle soup. Although my last visit the stock was a tiny bit lacking in the beef punch I was used to before. Having said that, I am being picky and trying to find the minute thing to comment on as it’s just good food all around.

Highly recommended for traditional Vietnamese food which is over 5 miles away from where we live but it's worth the drive. The place was already busy on a Sunday afternoon and the staff were attentive and friendly. We ordered Spring Rolls, Crispy Pancake (banh xeo), Pho and Bun ha noi. All for sharing between the 4 of us under Β£40. We enjoyed every bit of it and would definitely come back again.

You will enjoy dining at Viet Guy, The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is delicious and the staff friendly. There is something for everybody. Only little thing , make sure you are clear on what you order, I have received the wrong orders on a few occasions,I felt there was a little difficulty in communication. Staff changed the dishes without fuss. I absolutely recommend the coconut sizzling and the steamed rice with meat πŸ™ŒπŸ»

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Pho at a Vietguys restaurant, and it was an absolutely fantastic culinary experience. The broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting, with just the right balance of spices and seasoning. The rice noodles were perfectly cooked and had a lovely texture that complemented the broth and toppings perfectly. I can't wait to go back and enjoy it again!

I was so excited to try this place but what a massive let down. I ordered beef egg noodles but the noodles I got were too thin to be egg noodles. I decided not to make a fuss and just enjoy the dish but was so disappointed at how bland it was. It was dry and tasteless. I hate complaining so I ate as much as I could (mostly the meat) before giving up. I’ll deffo not be coming back here. What a disappointment. To make matters worse, their Fanta was as flat as anything 😩

Good quality traditional Vietnamese good at a reasonable cost. Haven't had Pho as good as this in years outside of Ho Chi Min City. Was also a trip for my birthday and they were happy to bring out a birthday cake πŸ˜‚

I recently visited a Vietnamese restaurant that had a really homely feel to it, and I have to say, the food was absolutely amazing. One dish that stood out to me was the rice noodles with grilled pork. The meat was well-marinated and had an amazing taste, and the sweet and sour sauce really complemented the pork and noodles. It was a dish that left me feeling satisfied and wanting more at the same time. Another standout dish was the coconut sizzling hot plate beef. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection, and the sauce had just the right amount of coconut to give it a unique and delicious flavor. It was a dish that really hit the spot and left me feeling extremely satisfied. I also tried the rare beef pho, which had an amazing soup base that was heart-warming and comforting. The beef was cooked just right and added to the overall deliciousness of the dish. Finally, I have to mention the salt and pepper chicken wings. These were perfectly marinated and fried, leaving me wanting more even after I had finished my meal. The flavor was amazing and the texture was just right. Overall, this Vietnamese restaurant exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some amazing Asian cuisine. The homely feel of the place, combined with the amazing food, made it a memorable experience that I won't soon forget.

The food and service is always great, but my favourite thing about Viet Guy is their children's menu - adult food made kid friendly! My toddler loves the fried rice which is carefully prepared for little ones with the meat cut really small, minimal salt but bursting with herbs and ginger for flavour. Would recommend the Summer rolls here too - they're delicious!

Always love coming to this place - the Pho is to die for. So delicious and flavourful, and, bonus - it's healthy! The staff are so lovely too - everyone has been so polite and friendly. All meals we've tried here were delicious (stew, noodle dishes, spring rolls and summer rolls), but the raw beef Pho (it cooks in the heat of the broth) remains my firm favourite πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

I come here quite regularly to order take-outs and not gonna lie the food is always amazing. For a Vietnamese restaurant they surely do well on the basics - Pho, chargrilled meat, spring rolls etc but what surprises me is the super delicious noodles with fish/ fish cake and the fried ice cream that I've never found anywhere else in the UK. Oh and the Bo luc lac (shakeing beef) is probably one of the best beef dishes I've ever had. Price is very reasonable, only less than Β£13 for a main dish that can already fill you up. Also very quick with take outs (I often wait for like 5 - 10 mins). Nothing to complain really.

I have been looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to fill my palate since I have been in England and Scotland for over 40 days. Nothing was in comparison to what I am used to back in California where I grew up until I ate at Viet Guy. The atmosphere is a classy Vietnamese restaurant like in Little Saigon in Westminster California when it became a haven for Vietnamese Food and businesses in the 80s. Manchester you are very lucky. This review was from dining here for six days while waiting for my departure back to the USA. There will be one more time before we go to make it lucky 7.

My favourite Viet restaurant in Manchester. Everything is delicious, highly recommend the pancake starter, salt and pepper squids/chicken wings. Love their Pho with chicken which is amazingly tender. For drink, their homemade lemonade is fantastic!

Went last night for the first time and we weren’t disappointed! The food was superb! The flavours and freshness of the food was superb! Had a feast starter made by Kevin which had sizzling beef, salt and pepper squid and chicken, spring rolls, then rare beef Pho and Viet guy chicken curry (amazing)! Will definitely be back! Thanks Kevin and Wendy it was excellent!!!!

Lunch menu is worth to try, one main course with a snack within Β£10-12 is definitely a bonus, the staff is polite but that’s it…no conversation and not showing any interest in the customers. Food is okay but I would only go in lunch time as it’s easily cost double price for having the same thing in the evening.

First restaurant meal after the lockdown and it was a delight! A little difficult to hear the staff talking through their masks, but that was the only problem. Not many guests in though, but this will surely get better

Amazing Vietnamese food, probably the closest I’ve gotten to having the real thing in Vietnam. The Vietnamese coffee is unreal, we would really recommend the papaya salad, spring rolls, Viet guy beef curry, coconut sizzler and the sea bass in ginger fish sauce.

What a lovely little place!! My partner and I had such a lovely meal here, food was out standing. So much flavour! Never had Vietnamese food before and this was just outstanding. The staff were incredibly lovely too, especially the owner who, gave me some chilli oil to take away because it was so good (they make it in the restaurant). The restaurant itself was clean, nice decor and atmosphere. Top notch place, will definitely be coming back when in the area!

  • 5/5 John G. 3 years ago on Google
I like this place partly for the enthusiasm and cheerfulness of the staff, who seem personally interested both in their clientele and the service they provide and partly for the food, which is reliably consistent and imaginative. For a local restaurant it provides a quality that would rate well amongst the restaurant offer in the city centre. Go if you get the chance- unpretentious, very welcoming and highly satisfying.
