A beautiful spot to stop while traveling to Lachen/Lachung from Gangtok. Situated in Dikchu, North Sikkim, the butterfly waterfalls has a mesmerizing view and definitely it will give you a kickstart to your long journey to Lachen/Lachung. Breakfast items and Tea/Coffee stalls are available here

We visited this place in June-2018 The driver of our car was very friendly and often gave breaks so the journey seemed very comfortable on the way from Gangtok to Lachen. We had a brief stop at Butterfly Waterfalls. This was more sort of refreshing break and the best thing is that this place has clean toilets. Water was gushing down through green walls of the hills , Proper barricade was there to avoid any incident . Nice photogenic place . Why it is called butterfly falls still not known to me .

It is a small waterfall and nothing great to see here if you want you can skip this place. This waterfall comes on the route between heading to Lachen from Gangtok. The waterfall and the area were clean and maintained.

It's a tourist attraction and Tiffin spot.sikkim knows for his waterfalls. It's one of them near Gangtok City. If you do local side seen you must visit this. There is nerrow bridge beside this click cool photos. A watchtower is there you can go up and click photos. Little careful of cars.

A great place enroute lachung. A lot of waterfalls during this journey, makes the travel a lot more beautiful and refreshing. 6 hr long journey from gangtok to lachung didnt feel tiresome as the route was so beautiful.

Visited on 25 May 2023. Very nice and beautiful place. Stop 15-20 minutes on the way from Gangtok to Lachen. Very photogenic. Will be loved by children definitely.

Small but beautiful jharna on the way of chungthang from gangtok. There is two small shop too,which offer tea,cornflakes,chips and like those item. Toilet facility also available there on your go.

A great place to visit with friends and family! The name is well justified as it is filled with butterflies and of lucky you can get a good shot of those beauties. The place can be a little crowded during peak season but a good place nonetheless and lots of insta worthy photos can be clicked! ✌️

Consider this just as a stopping point on the way to Lachen from Gangtok. The falls were extremely disappointing. I guess they must look better in monsoon but in December they felt pretty ok. We had a joke going on in our group, that the momos from the shop near the waterfall were better than the waterfall itself.

Nice waterfall , small but good. Its very near to Lachung. The location looks dangerous all around u can see land slides. Front mountain is almost gone due to landslide.

This waterfall falls on the way from Gangtok to North Sikkim (Lachung / Lachen). There are many waterfalls on this road but Butterfly (aka Puttali Jharna) is probably one of the best. The waterfall itself is quite nice to look at but its setting makes it wonderful - dense forest all around making whole area shady, calm and cool. They have built a watch-tower to view the area from top. The place is kept clean by locals and there's even a toilet. There are also a few shops selling snacks and knick-knacks.

They have made stairs. There are tea stall around. The best part, they have a well maintained paid washroom !!!!!!! The only well maintained one on the entire route.

Looked beautiful in the immediate post monsoon period. The best part is the cleanliness of the surrounding area.

The best time to visit is somewhere in July August when lots of Butterflies make their way here to this location, hence the name. It’s situated very well in the mountains. Good roads to take you there.

It's good waterfall but small. No need to take rs 20 for this. It's on the way between gangtok and lachung road.

You have to pay 20 for going in front of the fall.

Beautiful small waterfall. Ticket is 20/-. You can go down to touch water or go up to the tower for a picturesque view. Worth spending 20-30 minutes.
