Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our trip. I think calling it average is a bit generous, the hotel is dated, food substandard and service was inconsistent. The rooms were ok, good size but not as clean as you'd like. The rest of the place was the same. No specific mentions of anything good or bad just don't think I'd recommend this place.

What an amazing Hotel, absolutely everything was perfect. The staff are extremely friendly and happy to help with anything you ask. The room are spacious, very clean and serviced every day to perfection. The breakfast was exceptional and the food delicious (well done to the chef). The gardens are absolutely beautiful. There are 2 people I need to give special mention to, firstly Temple from front office. Thank you for making our stay at Tanoa forever memorable you are such a polite, funny and extremely helpful person, an absolute asset to the the hotel. And secondly Sandra from the bar, always smiling and happy, she can mix a great cocktail and so friendly thank you Sandra. Tanoa 11/10

The Hotel is very tired and worn down. Rooms are in desperate need of an update. Beds are very old and uncomfortable, safe didn’t work, AC worked intermittently, shower has poor drainage system, towels paper thin and scarce. The cleaners did a poor job servicing the room. Good location, Good pool, Restaurant and Bar staff were helpful, however the desk staff did everything they could to avoid helping you. They came across very rude and arrogant. For the price they charge there are much better options close by than Tanoa, such as the new Lava hotel just two doors down.

Excellent customer service. Wanted more authentic Samoan breakfast items so we can enjoy it. Had to go outside to market for those items but all in all the staff was awesome.

To all the staff at Tanoa Tusitala Hotel. Thank you for catering to our families needs while we stayed from the 6-14 Aug 2023. A special mention to Temple for his tireless great service. The food was great, the rooms were great but the staff were amazing. Tanoa is a great location in Apia that is situated close to the main city centre. Great for our purposes as a family. There were 31 of us and we were all looked after well.

Absolutely Loved this place! stayed here for 7 days and it was perfect .3 groups of family stayed in other rooms and they enjoyed it too .. their breakfast every morning was delicious and their customer service was above and beyond (: *only small thing I would pick at is the shower area ..it could do with some exit mould spray or extra scrubbing to make it abit cleaner but honestly wasnt too bad...just a small thing I noticed .. but definitely coming back and highly recommend staying here(:

Great location, only a short walk to town. BUT everything else was a let down. For the $$ you spend to stay here it was definately overrated. We stayed 12 nights. The big pool is always way to warm so it's not even refreshing for a dip an any hour of the day. The porters were nice & friendly. The bed was made daily but the sheets were only changed every several days, most times when they changed the towels 2x shower 1x floor 1x hand towel we were lucky to get all four back and had to call reception to get them delivered (usually late in the evening because we were out all day). The floor wasn't swept or mopped the entire time, the bins in the room were emptied sometimes. Very inconsistent cleaning, we did get the complementary water daily which we didnt really need coz we had our fridge stocked with assorted drinks for our day trips. Breakfast was good but we refused to eat lunch and dinner there after getting the wrong order one night and the amount of time we spent speaking to staff letting them know they had given us the wrong food. We ended up asking for a refund after the wrong food was brought out and then when the right order finally did come it had hair in it. The cocktails on the menu were average and overpriced. More often then not the staff were friendly, but there were a handful of staff who looked like they hated their lives and made us feel like we were an inconvenience to their day.

A lovely experience, stayed here 19th June to 24th June. Check in was fast easy and welcoming, room was comfy and had everything we needed. Enjoyed breakfast buffet every morning served by awesome friendly staff, enjoyed the pool. Room Service was excellent, yummy food. The lovely lady who cleaned our room was so nice, we became close with her - we wish her well. Thank you so much for making us feel at home during our stay. Love and blessings.

The hotel is located in the central of Apia. The building is old and if you stay in the ground floor there is very high chance you will spot bugs and insects. They do need to improve the house keeping service and cleanliness. The breakfast is very basic.

Communication at this place is ridiculously poor. Comprehension is below standards in the hospitality industry, and it seems to be always one that destroys the name of the hotel. Monita Krishna. Did not carefully read the email and advise upon request. When we met face to face, she came out with a disgusting attitude talking down to oversea traveller's like myself. It just shows us that they wear the name of the hotel as I work here, and the knowledge and experience in customer service are always going to be uneducated poor standards. Monita, I suggest you need to educate yourself more about the environment you work in and the different cultures that come to Tanoa Tusitala Hotel. Never assume that I will tolerate the disgusting attitude you performed on that day and the lack of communication shown on the emails. I do not recommend this hotel even though it is a 4+ star, the staff are so ungrateful.

It’s the best place to stay if you’re looking for a place to stay in Samoa, the staff is super friendly from the concierge to everywhere you go, the rooms are clean and the housekeeping is done daily, there’s also a gym to keep up your daily healthy living routine. Thank you Tanoa I give you 10/10, and I am one proud Samoan to shout out to the world. Keep up the outstanding service!!

Our family came to Tanoa for the fiafia night. It was a great experience, the hospitality, food, performance, and fire dance. Highly recommend. Add it to your to do list when in Apia

An Aged Hotel with Few Redeeming Qualities Our recent stay at this aging hotel left much to be desired, with numerous shortcomings that outweighed any positive aspects. Despite the non-refundable nature of our reservation, we seriously considered leaving and finding alternative accommodations. Unfortunately, due to high demand, there were no available options. The hotel's aged appearance was immediately noticeable. Our room was outdated, and it showed signs of wear and tear. The overall cleanliness was questionable, and the furnishings appeared shabby. The air conditioning unit struggled to maintain a comfortable temperature, leaving us feeling less than relaxed in our room. After some communication issues, we were moved to a new room where the aircon continued to struggle (but at least it wasn't hanging at a 45-degree angle). The state of the pool was a major disappointment. It was not clean, and the water quality was questionable. After a short swim we didn't return. While the hotel's accommodations and pool were far from ideal, the service at the bar & restaurant was somewhat redeeming. They were courteous and made an effort to address our concerns. However, their efforts were limited by the overall condition of the hotel. In summary, our experience at this aging hotel was far from satisfactory. The outdated accommodations, unclean pool, and overall lack of maintenance made us seriously consider finding alternative lodging, despite the non-refundable reservation. It is clear that the property is in need of significant renovations and improvements to meet the basic expectations of guests. If possible, we would recommend against staying at Tanoa.

This is where my family always choose to stay, however I haven’t been back since 2017. All I can say is that I was disappointed by the service and embarrassed at how rundown the place is. Room service was terrible. My room wasn’t serviced until after 2pm each day, cups were wiped out with who knows what dirty rag and still had marks in them. Bathroom basin was never cleaned the whole week I was there, nor the shower. They just made the bed and lightly swept my floor (lightly because there was still sand and hair on the floor in places). They even forgot to give me fresh towels on one occasion. Tea and coffee never replenished, only water was. The pool was filthy. Hair and bugs floating on the surface, the paint is chipping off as is the top layer of the pool so big chunks are missing. The walls of the pool were turning green and everyone was complaining that the water was like a hot bath. I only saw it get cleaned once which was at the end of my week long stay and I’m not sure that the guy even knew what he was doing. Seemed like a lot of staff was rostered on every day, but nobody was doing any actual work. Staff just meandered around the motel with a cloth wiping down a random pole or a mop & bucket mopping one tile, lots roaming around on their phones or else converging together behind trees, buildings, doors to chit chat. They didn’t even pretend to look busy. They have one washing machine and dryer for guests to use. However, be warned it’s 10 tala a token to use the machines for 30mins and 10 tala for a standard size snaplock bag of laundry powder, which is absolutely ridiculous because I had enough powder for two weeks of washing, but I only needed to do one load. What they should do is offer much smaller sized bags for 2 tala. I’m aware of how much financial support NZ and Australia put into Samoa to support the growth of their tourism and hospitality, so I found the lack of work ethic and hospitality knowledge of staff embarrassing. Safe to say, this will be the last time I will stay here, as well as my family who used to love coming to this place for years.

I liked staying here. The only thing I was disappointed with was room service. They are meant to clean everyday and they only made bed and cleaned floors. Our shower and toilet were not cleaned and coffee area was not topped up every day.. We had to ask for bottled.water which I thought was complementary.
